Vigilon 0 Posted Thursday at 07:06 AM #1 Share Posted Thursday at 07:06 AM Were the rumors true? That figure looked awfully suspicious in Vigilon's mind. This was something he'd need to personally investigate. The sands were as ruthless as ever, but at least Vigilon was able to get his hands on some footwear that was less likely to get sand stuck in them. He didn't know exactly what was going on here, but hopefully he'd be able to get to the bottom of these rumors, and if it was anything malicious, cut it down before it can become anything serious. Right now he'd been chasing footsteps he believed were present for a number of minutes, so maybe it would be best that he look for some shade and reevaluate his options, because there didn't seem to be very much in sight. Vigilon made his way over to a nearby cliff that lacked excessive sand on top of it. Maybe the shade really was what he'd need here. "How am I gonna find that lead again...?" He thought aloud. Vigilon 0 Posted Thursday at 06:00 PM Author #2 Share Posted Thursday at 06:00 PM While Vigilon was thinking, someone else was nearby, at a different patch of shade. Vigilon himself, however, had yet to realize someone else had found him. "...Unidentified player in sight." A female player noted to herself, from the safe distance of her own shade. "Commencing visual analysis..." Vigilon stretched as he took a deep breath, that very deep breath bringing a bit of a temporary expanse to his chest for its duration. He checked to make sure the stretches did their job, by positioning his arms one at a time, almost as if he were flexing. "Green cursor, Male..." The female player observed. Vigilon wiped the sweat off his brow, at a fairly slow and steady pace, a stoic expression currently on his face. He then stood tall...as he could for his height, at least. "..." This time the observer failed to speak, but only for a short moment. She closed her open jaw, shook her head, and continued to watch Vigilon from her safe distance. "Potential capability sighted." She thought aloud. Vigilon nodded his head, satisfied that he was ready to continue on the road. "Alright, come on, you've gotten this far in the game, and you've gotten this far in level, you can get even stronger and you can get to the bottom of those rumors!" He thought to himself as a means of self-encouragement. It worked, because he now smiled with anticipation of a potential success that would surely make things better. It had been a while since such cheer filled his expression. What Vigilon was not prepared for, however, were the consequences, for he was not alone. The female player caught her breath, and was suddenly confused. "Error. I am feeling...palpitations?" She uttered out quietly, her voice unheard by Vigilon as of the current moment. Despite her breathing suddenly becoming heavy, she managed to calculate her current impression with the current scenario, something of dire urgency to her. "Potential solution found. New objective: Request aid." She decided. Vigilon turned to see someone heading his way. A female player with lavender hair, wearing a set of cloths that was probably for protecting her from sandstorms; a layer of clothing on top of what may be her actual equipment. She seemed to be the same height as him, and looked close to his age. Vigilon offered a friendly smile and a wave. "Hey." He greeted. For whatever reason, the girl stopped for a second, then continued towards him at a much faster pace. Once she was close enough, she stopped, and gave a polite bow before speaking. "Greetings." She began. "Aid requested. Guild Base of Operations under dire risk." She explained. "You. Follow. Please?" She asked. This girl had an unusual way of speaking...but Vigilon gleaned from this that her guild's base was in danger, and she was asking for his help. Given her current apparel, it couldn't be too far from here, so it was likely on this floor. If this danger had anything to do with the rumors, he might be able to knock out two birds with one stone. "Sure, I'll help." He answered. "I assume you know the way?" He asked.
Vigilon 0 Posted 15 hours ago Author #3 Share Posted 15 hours ago (edited) The girl would nod her head, and the two players would begin making their way to the currently mystery destination. Despite the lack of sandstorms on this current day, the heat made the trip a harsh one. It seemed harsh enough to parch the two players. "Energy...decreasing...hydration...low..." The female player spoke as she began to slow down severely. Vigilon pulled out two glass bottles of water from his inventory, and offered the colder one to the girl. The girl's eyes lit up slightly. "Thank you..." She stopped to take the bottle, then she popped off the cork and drank what she needed, before putting the cork back on and stowing the bottle in her inventory. She seemed to wait a few seconds, and a slight smile crept up on her face. "I'm grateful...feeling better now...let's continue." As the two began to get closer to their destination, it seemed that the girl had a question to ask. "Question...are you...interested in joining any Guilds?" She asked. Vigilon found this odd, they only just met, this girl wasn't actually considering recruiting someone she just met, was she? "Sorry, I'm not. In fact, I'm making preparations to start my own Guild." Vigilon answered. The girl seemed to accept this answer, but Vigilon couldn't tell if she was neutral, sad, or disappointed by this response. She respected it at least, so that was something? It felt like a long walk, but that was probably because of all this gosh darn sand. In the end, the two players happened across what might have been a wide stone structure practically embedded in a shabby, huge hole in the sand. The girl started heading in that direction, though Vigilon was confused at first. "Is this really the place? It kinda looks like it's in the middle of sinking..." He asked. The girl stopped and turned to Vigilon before nodding. "We stabilized the structure...It won't sink." She assured. Edited 15 hours ago by Vigilon
Vigilon 0 Posted 14 hours ago Author #4 Share Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Vigilon would follow the girl, who would knock on what seemed to be a door. She knocked multiple times in a specific pattern, by the looks of it. What pattern that was, however, was still unknown...especially when something knocked back. The girl would start knocking again. Was this Simon Says or Morse Code? Vigilon was having trouble telling. Soon, the doors opened, and Vigilon was able to follow the girl inside. The structure, from what he could first see, seemed to be filled with plenty of papers plastered across many different points on the walls, either depicting what might be monster dossiers, or what looked to be battle plans and operation strategies. A number of items, objects, and other such things were also around, appearing to be subjects of research. ...But what really confused Vigilon in this moment, was mainly the apparel the other players seemed to be wearing. Those armors looked oddly familiar...he'd seen such outfits like, twice before, right...? Then someone walked up to Vigilon, and he didn't look too happy. "Hey, aren't you one of the four players who blindsided the Delta Squadron? Do you know how hard it is to contain a large monster?" The player questioned. Before Vigilon could interject, the girl turned around, walked up to the player and spoke up. "I have requested his help. My analysis shows capability and kindness." The other player backed off, but his dislike of Vigilon's presence remained. "I...Are...are you sure? I mean..." The player looked back to Vigilon. "I...I suppose if you think he's trustworthy, I guess he can't be all bad...?" He noted. "S-sorry for doubting your judgement, Avie." A few seconds passed, and the player now had a question. "But I must ask...are you sure he'll be up to the task? Sure, if I remember correctly, he really put a dent in our plans, but he's on his own this time, can we really be sure he can handle himself?" The player asked. The girl, Avie, seemed to be confused. "Did he now...?" She asked while looking towards Vigilon. "Why not let us see what he's really capable of on his own?" The player suggested. "Test..." Avie spoke, as though she were thinking aloud. She then smiled. "I indeed wish to analyze him further..." She decided as she looked to Vigilon once more, anticipation sparkling in her eyes. Was...was Vigilon in for it? He probably needed some context here... Edited 14 hours ago by Vigilon
Vigilon 0 Posted 14 hours ago Author #5 Share Posted 14 hours ago Vigilon blinked. He wasn't sure what to do. Avie continued looking towards Vigilon. "It looks like you will need to be tested, before you can help." She explained. Well, sure? Like, what's the worst that could happen? He was still missing information, and that player's uniform looked suspiciously similar...but what could possibly go wrong? "I accept." Vigilon answered. Avie then removed the desert cloths obscuring her actual apparel. Turns out, Vigilon would find himself in for a surprise. Spoiler Avie's outfit suggested she was either a Cloth Armor user or an Unhindered player, but it was the design that shocked him. The color scheme that he now recognized, it was mainly red and black, but there seemed to be traces of purple and the lavender color matching her hair that gave it a little more personal flair...but what really surprised Vigilon was the fact that unlike with the other players in the area, Avie's outfit had a Guild Emblem that not only wasn't small enough to be missed, it was also bordered with gold in terms of color rather than black, gray or silver, suggesting that she may be in a high position or rank of the guild...and this Guild Emblem was one he recognized on sight, it belonged to the Knights of Cinnabar...the very Guild whose plans he'd messed with before beating up Wushen over on the twenty seventh floor. "Wait, she's from the Knights of Cinnabar? I'm in the Cinnabar Hideout?? I'M SURROUNDED BY THE KNIGHTS OF CINNABAR ON THEIR OWN TURF???" He thought as panic began to rise within him. "She, of the Knights of Cinnabar, asked me to help her and her Guild? What am I gonna do? Hell, she asked me if I was interested in joining any guilds before I got here! Am I screwed???" Now there were dozens of little Vigilons in his mind, trying to put out the fires or simply running around panicking.
Vigilon 0 Posted 14 hours ago Author #6 Share Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Other players had taken notice of what was unfolding here now. All of them were members of the Knights of Cinnabar. Vigilon and Avie would be directed to the hideout's sparring arena, where Avie would proceed to send a duel request to Vigilon. She must have used proximity challenge and selected the username she didn't recognize, but at least she guessed correctly, as the request popped up in front of him. Vigilon would accept the duel request, and take position. Vigilon drew Kyrkuran, and waited for the timer to start the duel. Various Cinnabar players gathered to watch, wondering what the result would be. Avie also took position. "...Commencing analysis..." Vigilon waited for the signal from the game. Avie drew her dagger, looking ready for blood. "Engaging-!" Avie's timing was impeccable, for she activated her sword art and charged the second the timer started. Vigilon barely dodged the blade, ducking just in the nick of time. "Holy shit!" He thought. Unfortunately, it was bold of Vigilon to assume that swing was all that made up her attack. He would find himself taking the next few sudden swings...aaaaand stunned. "Well, that could have gone better." He thought as he lay stunned on the ground. Hopefully Avie was feeling merciful enough to not stab a man while he was down. -RP combat(duel) initiated. Vigilon 0 Posted 4 hours ago Author #7 Share Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Turns out, Avie was not above stabbing a disabled opponent. She lifted him up with her free hand, then struck his defenseless back with her weapon. Turns out, Vigilon didn't have enough proper protection behind, but at least he didn't suffer any criticals. Hell, it didn't even look like she was aiming for a weak spot, it seemed more like she was testing his equipment for a moment there. She then rapidly moved her free hand from gripping his equipment to gripping his left arm. She squeezed it, as if looking for details hidden by his equipment. "Ah...Anticipated? Unanticipated. Further details necessary." She mused to herself, before setting him down and leaping swiftly and gracefully to the other side of the arena, allowing Vigilon to try and get an attack of his own out if he so desired. Vigilon got back up, and held his weapon tightly. "She's expecting a charge attack. With that distance, it'll be easy for her to simply evade. I need to try a different tactic and get in close. My best option would be to save charge for now, and wait till I've closed the distance for her to not see it coming..." Vigilon thought. He then began making his way over to her. He readied a false swing towards her, which she moved to dodge. Vigilon then kept his eye on her as he activated charge on his sword art that he prepared, not that his sword art was executed at the time it was supposed to. Kyrkuran burst into flame as it neared Vigilon's opponent. Avie managed to keep her footing despite the impact of the critical attack. The dark energy left a blight weakening her, but there was no hostile trace of Kyrkuran's dragonfire to be found. Avie now appeared to be readying her next move. Vigilon 0 Posted 3 hours ago Author #8 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Vigilon had to stay on his feet, or he'd miss his chance. He saw the mark noting the availability of his strongest attack, so he'd need to make sure he wouldn't find himself lacking. Avie quickly made her way over to him with all due haste, before unleashing the Dagger Variant of Blazing Bite. Looks like she wasn't gonna need to score a critical to inflict a burn with a sword art like that...where did she get it? Regardless, Vigilon felt the tingling from his burn. "We may be even in ailments, but maybe it's time to even the odds again." Vigilon decided. He took a deep breath as his weapon began to glow both a deep violet and a burning red, laced with traces of dark energy. "Kyrkuran, zyn gre zhal xe shiul vyeil natho!" He spoke. Upon this, he felt a deep shadow within both himself and his weapon. The sword practically roared to life with a billowing dragonfire that cloaked the entire blade as he unleashed his devastating attack. Fallen Energy coursed through the blade and added to the damage dealt. Vigilon looked to his opponent. "I supposed you wanted me to go all out, yes?" He commented. Avie smiled, why was she smiling? "Ha...aha...Interesting!" -Avie used TECH-G! Vigilon is Burned! ST-B is available for next turn! -Vigilon used ST-B! Fallen Activates!
