[Clash Of Blades Season 1] Week 4: Kiyabu Hisao vs Vigilon

The stillness, the silence. You'd think one could hear the horrified screams of damned souls, or echoed screeches of banshees mimicking human terror and pain. That, or at least the footsteps of the large beings beyond their comprehension. No, instead there was just the complete and utter lack of any activity. Even the air remained unmoving, stale. Shifting only with the pink, slimey tendrils that slithered around buildings and into the broken alleyways of this forsaken city. Kindling fought the overwhelming urge that nagged at his brain, to look up. The being there was tugging at his mind, unspoken will for him to gaze up and at the dark god above him. He kept his eyes down, his lips pulled tight. Maybe this wasn't a good idea.

Too late. "Combatants!" He tried to add some cheer to the word, without allowing it to echo off the far away walls of destroyed bricks and collapsed ruins of this place. A worry that was in complete vain; for all sound was dampened, as though trapped in a small room covered in insulation. Nothing carried. Nothing could escape. "Today, you may notice the complete lack of an audience. Fear not; we don't need a lot of audience members, we have one very big one!" He lifted his hand up, but stopped it midway through, completely unsure if he should even been acknowledging the lord above. Too late now. "Minako and I have the intense ecstasy of being hosted and granted refuse by Emrakul!" Finally able to indicate the mass of tentacles that dwarfed the entire building floating above. All coalescing into a calcic shell the size of a small island. It's one, translucent pink eye moving unpredictably over the entire landscape. Ultimately settling on the round opening of an ex-plaza area. This district was likely a town center of sorts, the ruins of a fountain in the middle being little more than a pile of rubble now. Making this an almost perfectly circular arena their perfect combat place.

"P̴̗̾á̵̱r̴͉̄t̶͍͂í̷̹c̵̤̈́i̷͍̚p̶͖̒a̸̮̓n̷͎̒t̸͖͑s̶̝̔ ̴̺͝o̸̡̅f̵̲̂ ̷͉͒t̵̼́h̶̢͠ĩ̴̧s̷̞̋ ̸̻͐f̵̩̂o̶͜͠ŕ̵͙s̴̯͑ả̶͎k̶̺̓e̷͙͒ń̵̼ ̶̪͠c̵̼͝o̴̩͊n̵̼̋t̵̫͝ḛ̶́s̴͎̎t̶̞͌,̴͚͠ ̵̥̀h̸͍͘e̸͓͘e̶̤͠d̵̦̾ ̶̞̀t̴͖̓h̴̥̍ẹ̶͑ ̸̦́c̶͚͑ạ̶̈́l̵̿ͅl̴̛̜ ̷̨̀o̴̪̐f̴͖͠ ̶̝͝t̵̪̾h̸͇͊ẹ̸́ ̷̝̎a̷͔͌b̷̝̀y̸͖͝s̸̖̆s̴̭̉.̵̰̔ ̷͉̓T̷̳́ḧ̵͇́e̶̖̋ ̷̪̋t̵̕ͅĩ̷͖m̵̪̒e̶̳̕ ̶͇͒f̸̠́o̸̪̚r̸̞̽ ̴̞͂y̵̡͑ő̴̲u̶̹͂r̶͊͜ ̶̣̈́r̶͙̋e̸͔͒c̵̾ͅk̴̺̃ö̶̳́n̷̰̅ị̴̒n̷̼̋g̴͍͊ ̷̦͒h̵͇̿a̶̟͂ș̵̀ ̵̣͘c̴̗̎ȍ̷͜ṁ̵̨e̴̾ͅ.̵̭̀ ̶͎̆K̵͍͐n̸͉̾ǫ̶̈́w̵̹͊ ̸̪̍t̴̮͝h̵͍͝a̶̝̅t̵͈̆ ̵̮̽t̷̬͒h̵̦̅i̵̳͋s̴̝̐ ̶̫̾r̶̖̈́o̶͔̎u̶̫̅n̷̦̍d̸͚̉ ̸̹͋ḭ̶́s̵͝ͅ ̵̨̆b̷̳̂u̴̻͝t̶̮͆ ̷̣͂a̵̪̒ ̴̢͘f̸̯͆l̷͎̇e̷͔͐e̴̗̿t̵̩͂i̵̝̇ṋ̸͛g̴̱̀ ̴͓̑m̴̝̓ö̵̩́m̵͖̐e̸̟͌n̶̼̓t̷͚̅ ̵͕̊ì̶͖n̵̩͒ ̴̪̽ṫ̶͍ȟ̸̥ę̵̚ ̴̳̓ȋ̸͍n̷̨̅f̸̦͌i̷̩͘n̶̗̊i̵͖͒t̵̺͠e̸̪̕ ̵͎͊e̴̥̐x̷͖̏p̶͇̋a̶̞͊n̵͕͛s̵̟̅e̴̯̒,̴͉̓ ̴̮̆y̵̼̏ë̸̘́t̵͓͐ ̶͕͆ǐ̵̡t̵̻̃ ̶̢̐w̶̢̽i̶̱̔ḷ̴͘l̸̪͊ ̷̬͊c̷̖̓a̸̬͠ř̴͉v̵͎͠ě̵̠ ̵͜͝ỹ̴̰o̵̭̊ů̶͚ŗ̶́ ̵̭̍f̷̦̀a̵͖̚ţ̷̂e̷̲̚ṣ̸͊ ̴̠̿i̵͈̋n̴͙̄ṭ̸͆o̷̞̒ ̵͔̈́t̷̹͝ȟ̸͈e̷̼͌ ̵̯̋f̸̯̎à̸̖b̵̤͝r̶̖̒í̸̟c̶͍̓ ̴̻̉o̴͎͋ḟ̵͔ ̶̢̏o̶̦̾b̵̻̐ḽ̸̈i̴͓͂v̶̲̎i̵̯̍ȍ̶̲n̴͕͑.̴̫́"

Kindling froze in place, feeling the aching, throbbing pain of that being's voice inject itself into his conscious. Not a word actually spoken, or boomed from the sky. It subsided with time. It seemed this being understood ther mission, and that would be cutting the introductions short. They needed to get out of here as soon as possible. "Combatants, take your stance. Kiyabu Hisao and Vigilon, say your piece. And try not to look that Lord in the eye for too long. Lest you step on his... appendages." Giving them now the ever so brief moment to exchange words, and mentally prepare themselves for the visages and unknown terrors that were sure to assault each.

Then he raised his hand. "On my mark, Get ready, get set..."

God, he hoped no one died here.

Welcome to the Fourth week of Clash of Blades - March Madness begins! This month will include a host of whacky, and absurd thematic, this week's honing in on MADNESS. There has been several changes from last week, so please be sure to have the Informational at the ready!
Another soft reminder to NOT use outside items. Please use only the items purchased in the Event Shop.

  Hide contents
  • Please remember to LINK your Spreadsheet, and triple check that all your stats are correct. Failure to do so before the actual combat begins will result in a loss by default. Going forward, we will be taking a much more hardline stance on this rule. The reason for that is out of respect for the time and energy of the hosts, and your fellow participants.
  • Remember that initiative has changed last week, and will remain that way.
  • Below is the explanation of the thematic, and its mechanics.

Spoiler

Thematic Explanation

Every turn players will be assaulted by the unnaturalness of the arena, and forced to steel their mind lest they go mad. On every post, no matter the action, must come with a ‘Madness’ Roll. On a CD of 6 or higher you gain 1 Madness.
Upon gaining your third Madness, you suffer from <Going Mad>. Consult the table below of which Full Post Action you take, then lose all Madness.

Note: The effects of going mad are instant, going after self healing and before main actions. Madness and Going Mad CANNOT be cured with cleanse abilities or items. other than those specifically stated to do so (Sanity Tablet, Straight Jacket)

CD Roll Effect
1 -2 Unequip current weapon
3-4 Use ST-1 or ST-2
5-6 Use an Item of your choice if no items, pass turn
7-8 Use the <Rest> Main Action
9-10 Become Stunned. Ignores immunity, does not reset immunity
11-12 Break Free of your Madness, No Effect

The floor was strange, devoid of human life, permanently overcast or stormy...not to mention it reeked of Abyssal Eldritch activity. There was no crowd of NPCs, just an unknown entity that none with a sane mind would dare acknowledge, watching the small little players that served as a reminder of what once was in this desolate, forgotten realm...

Vigilon felt a presence bearing down on him as he neared the location of the arena. By the time he entered the ring, it felt like an inescapable gaze. "Don't look up." He thought, feeling the gaze more then ever. "Just, don't look up..." He thought again as he spotted the host, nearly gesturing to up above but stopping himself short. There was definitely something malicious up above, but maybe it simply wanted to entertain itself.

A voice sounded, unheard and unthought. It simply existed, as if forcibly planted into the very being of Vigilon's avatar. His mind had trouble handling the feeling of this violation of his consciousness. Then it sounded again, but this one felt more...direct.

    "F̵͖̈́o̷̜͍͠ṙ̷̳̼ṡ̶̘̲ä̵̟͕́k̸̠̘͒e̴͙̤͂͝n̷̺̫̄ ̸̥̙̋̈́B̸͖̀̕l̸̨̑ȏ̴̫̄ò̶͖d̸̠̈́,̶̛̹̫ ̷̬̌̓h̸̫̹̾̋e̷̻̞̿̄ẹ̷͐̆ḑ̵̔̂ ̶̣̞̐̍t̶̨̃̈́ḣ̷̗̰͑ę̴̕ ̶̳̬̇̄s̶͔̻͑̆o̶͍͐n̷̬͇̓̃g̴̦͓͒ ̶̱͇̌͆o̵̖̞̒f̸̤̤̿ ̷̤́̀t̶̢͛̽ḫ̸̢̌̉ë̶͔ͅ ̵̫̠̕c̵̫͒a̷͔͘͠ḽ̵̒l̵͕̭̆ḭ̸̓n̴̝̉͛g̶͖̃͜ ̷̭͐t̵̢͚̕i̷̮͓͗̔d̶̡͉̂ě̶̢s̵̺̋.̶̗̿̚ ̵̘̝̅̎Ṕ̸͖̳l̵̢͚̿u̶̖̅̄n̷͕̦̄̀g̵̛̦ẽ̸̙͎ ̵͕̩́͌y̶͕͓͂̌o̷͇̅ǘ̷̩̺r̴̘̥͒̎ ̵̕͜͠b̵͇͆a̸̬͓͆͠t̷̙̝̊ț̷̨̏̈l̴͔̏e̴͖̟͘ ̶̣̯̆̿ï̸̞̻̚n̴̗͝t̷̮͝ỏ̴̙̓ ̶͇̦̊͝ṫ̷͈͇̈ḥ̷̈́͛é̷͜ ̶̳̂̋d̷̡͊͌e̸͚̊͠p̵̡̑t̷̹͓̄̽h̸̛̠͠š̵̮.̵͉͋"

Did he hear that right, or did he hear that voice again incorrectly? It was almost as though there was something else...in fact, there was, for the maddening, eldritch aura and presence seemed to make something else possible, something Vigilon had yet to know of...

"L̷̪̙̂̏ͅi̵͍͚̊̄̕s̷͓̭͛̋͝t̷̩̓̕e̵̠̭͒̂n̶̢̮͚̄̅̍ ̷͙͇͔̈́̚n̷̹̕o̷̡̖̓ț̷̙͝ ̸̝̙̏͌͝t̶̨͕̐̎o̴͋́́͜ ̴̻̮̰̏̍̾t̷̩̭̰̑̕͠h̵̗̙̫̊e̷̹͕͊͝ ̶̟̞̂t̵̥̿̅̑i̸̢͓̯͋̀d̸̖͒̕ḙ̵̮̉̏͛s̶̪̑,̴̺̺̽̈́͘͜ ̷̧̧́h̵͎̾e̴̘̬̘͗͂̔a̴̞̽̇͋r̵̰͗̽ ̵̞̗̝̈́̈́m̵̩̭̋ÿ̶̩̞̹́̒̍ ̴̨̢̬͆̎r̴͈͐o̷̯͓̒͑͜a̷̻͓̻̒̀r̴͉̣̰͛̏̐ĭ̸͍̼̭͊͑n̵̠̓̈ǵ̴̀͂͜ ̴͙̩̐̆̚b̷̜̥̞̄̄̐l̴̳̻͍͐a̵̹̝̲͂͊z̵͍͍̉̇̓e̸̗͜͝ͅ.̷̠͈̀̀̍.̴͕͆͜ ̸̫̇͘T̷̮̊̒͠a̵̖̙͑̆̉p̸̞̥̿ ̷̩̞̃̍y̴̨̡̆͋o̸̦̠̾̀̈́u̶͕͗̒ͅr̴̬͇̉͆ ̶̥͂͝t̵͖͑̓r̴̬̠̺̎u̴̢̧̦͐̋̽e̴̢̼͝ ̴͖͇̓̆m̵̯̏͐ì̴̬̅g̸̞̃̈͠h̶̯͉͊̈́t̵͓͎̾̏͜,̶̟͓̕ͅ ̴̭̠̫̈́̃a̵̻̍̓n̴̐̀͜d̶̯́̕ ̴͕̖͐̀̈́b̷̞̰̈̓ŗ̵̩̜̄͐̿ǐ̷̞͌n̸̬̜̱̄̈́ģ̵̙̝̈́ ̸̧̜͎̌̾b̶̛̗̦̘͆͠l̵̛͉̓͝ö̵͚͔̩o̶̠̪͇̊̐ď̴͍͓̟̅͂ ̶̯͈͑a̴̱̍ ̴͉͝b̷̞̠̆͜a̴̙̪̐̂̆ṕ̷̭͝͝t̴͈͓̻̅͆ī̴̩̠̘s̶̬̠̀m̶͚̑͌ ̶̺̠̈́̊͝o̸̟͒̓͗f̶͉̬͂̓̊ ̴̰̹͂d̷̬͆͝r̶̤̗̾̽̍ȃ̴̙̠̰̾g̷̪͔̐̑̈́ȍ̷̙͙͉n̶͚͓̜̊'̷̬̿̃̚ş̸̦̪̊̋͒ ̸̧̩̝̀̆͑f̷͇̑́ľ̷̤ä̸̺͂̏m̶̧̼̣̂̂̍e̶̝̬͆͑̇.̷̙̦̪͌̊"

While this was felt directly in his mind, rather than his entire being, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He doubted anyone else heard what he did, and tried to shake off the pulsing, throbbing, feeling aching in his mind. He could hear the sound of the sea crashing upon the shore, he could hear the sound of a raging wildfire crackling and burning. He readied his blade, and stared down his opponent, already looking somewhat weary, for whatever reason. "I have no words to say, let's just keep this short and sweet..."  He stated. "Ther'llonly be blood..." He blurted out, sudden and near uncontrollably.

Though Kiyabu intended to make a grand entrance like in the previous duels, a strange, almost ominous feeling crept over him, sinking into his very being and curbing his desire for showmanship. It was as if the atmosphere itself had shifted, heavy with an unsettling tension that clung to him like a shroud. He looked towards the host, Kindling, who seemed to gesture nervously at the Eldritch Entity overseeing this round. Its presence was overwhelming, a dark silhouette that loomed over the arena, radiating an aura of dread.

“This isn’t real…” Kiyabu murmured beneath his mask, the words barely escaping his lips as he struggled to keep his composure. The sight of the Abomination was enough to unnerve even the most seasoned warriors, its grotesque form twisting and shifting in ways that defied logic. He fought to maintain his wit and clarity of mind, knowing that succumbing to fear could lead him down a path of madness. “Do not falter…” He reminded himself, his thoughts racing as he steeled his resolve.

With a deep breath, he met the gaze of his opponent, an enigmatic figure that mirrored his own unease. The tension in the air crackled as they locked eyes, both aware of the weight of the moment. “Then we are in agreement. Let’s keep this short and sweet…” Kiyabu said, his voice steady despite the turmoil within. He could feel the energy of the arena shifting, a pulsating resonance that seemed to echo his own heartbeat.

As he spoke, a purplish hue began to emanate from the eyes of his mask, casting eerie shadows across his face. It was a reminder of the power he wielded, but also of the darkness that lurked just beneath the surface. At that moment, Kiyabu felt a strange surge flowing throughout his body, a sensation that was both exhilarating and unsettling. It coursed through his veins like electric fire, igniting his senses but also leaving him with a creeping feeling of discomfort, as if something insidious was trying to take root within him.

The very fabric of the arena seemed to warp and twist, distorting the boundaries of reality. Kiyabu’s instincts screamed at him, urging him to act quickly, to harness this unsettling energy before it consumed him. He could feel the creeping madness at the edges of his consciousness, threatening to unravel everything he had worked for.

“Focus.” He whispered to himself, summoning every ounce of determination within him. He would not let this Abomination dictate the terms of the duel. With each passing second, he channeled the chaotic energy swirling around him, shaping it into a weapon of his own. His heart raced, but he embraced the thrill of the unknown, ready to face whatever horrors lay ahead.

As the duel began, Kiyabu’s thoughts sharpened, the fear transforming into a fierce clarity. He was not just a participant in this battle; he was a force to be reckoned with.

Vigilon nodded his head in response to his opponent's agreement. If he was gonna win this, he'd have to make it quick...not that these voices in his head were making it easy. "Just...block them out somehow, there's gotta be a way to block out the voices so I can focus on the fight..." He thought.

"Y̷͜͝è̵̦s̴̙̈́,̵̼̈́ ̵̭̽d̵̳́ȍ̸̼ ̸̺́k̴͇̈é̴̢ȇ̸͜p̶̣͊ ̸̮̄y̶̼̕o̸̠̒u̵̬̕r̷͈͝ ̴̢͘f̸̻͒ó̸̖c̵̦͛ủ̸̼s̵̳̈́ ̴͚̇ő̶͈n̶̘̊ ̸͍̿t̷̞͝h̴̹̊ẽ̸͙ ̸͔͝b̵̼͌a̸̝̾t̴͈͌ţ̴͒l̸̖̿ė̵̙.̶̤͠ ̴̪͛P̶̙͊u̶̳̒t̴̨͒ ̶̟̉h̷̡̄i̶̊ͅm̵͚̏ ̶̺̈́i̴̛̫n̷̘̍ ̵̟͒h̵̪̉i̴̙͒s̷̖͂ ̵̹͆p̷̞̕l̶̖͑ǎ̷͜c̶̭͒e̶͈͋,̸̜̄ ̸͚͐t̶̛͙h̴̛͓ȩ̶̉n̶̠̐ ̶̩̾c̸̪͘ř̷̝ṷ̸̇s̷͈͛h̷̜́ ̶̝̈́h̷͔̾i̶̢͗m̴̙͝.̵͕̕" Spoke one of the two voices in his head. At least it was on the same train of thought, but still maybe a bit too rough...? Vigilon readied his weapon, and prepared a sword art. He was heading straight to his opponent with all due speed, but due to focusing too hard he ended up getting tunnel vision and tripped over something fleshy. That better not have belonged to whatever the hell was up above. "Fu-!"
Vigilon tumbled onto the ground. He sighed as his luck remained lackluster. The voice sounded in his head once again. "W̴̨͝è̷̯'̴̘̌r̴̰̄e̴̻͝ ̷̢̀l̴̫̽ư̶͎c̷̟͆k̴͓̅y̴̖̓ ̴͈̿w̸̗̎e̶̖̕ ̵͚̈́d̵̟͛o̴̲̍n̴͙̂'̷̛̝t̵͇̐ ̶̧̏h̷͈̄a̴̜̅v̸̫̐e̶̤̅ ̴̧̂ä̵͕́n̵̘̊y̴̯̓o̷͔̚ṇ̷͋e̸̘͠ ̷̬̈́w̴͔̾o̶̤͊r̸͘͜t̶͚̔h̴̙͘ ̸̟̐i̶̲̚m̷̫̉p̶̗͗r̵̹̒é̵͕š̷̪ŝ̴̥i̴̛͜ǹ̴͓g̶̜̃ ̸̠͋h̴͓̓e̶̡͑r̶̖̈́e̵͔͌.̴̰̕ ̸̬̏G̸̪͘e̸͖͝ṫ̴̫ ̸̐͜o̶͒ͅn̴̰͌ ̷͉̉ÿ̷͖́ö̴̠u̶͛͜r̶̛̫ ̶͈͑f̶̠̎ê̴̘e̵̩͌t̶̹͂,̷̱͛ ̵̱̓ả̴̭n̸͙͗d̴̺͘ ̵̗͒d̴̩̅o̴͔̿n̴̰͌'̶͇̌ṫ̶̯ ̴͎̅l̴̼̈́ȇ̴̜t̸͇͗ ̷̃͜ṫ̶̘h̶̠͌ẹ̷͝ ̶̘͋p̶̘̽r̴̞̅e̷͚̎s̶̟͒s̴͍̓u̵͇̓r̸͙͋e̶͇̎ ̵̰̊c̵͉̊ḁ̵̃ű̴̟s̶̼̕ē̷͖ ̷̫͂ý̸̨ọ̵̌û̷̡ ̸̜̐t̷͎͒o̴̻̕ ̴̭̔ṅ̴͖e̸̖͗g̴̩̀l̷̟͐e̶͚̅c̸̰̑t̸̲̽ ̶̯̊y̸̩̋o̸͕͋u̴͇̽r̴̝̕ ̷̺͝p̵̧͝e̶̳͐r̶͂͜į̸̏p̷̫̿ȟ̵̡ẹ̸̀r̷̡̊a̶̫̒l̸̘̚ ̵̦͑s̶̫̾i̶̟̓g̴̜̀ḥ̵̿t̷̞̓s̴̢̎.̶͙̽" Vigilon groaned as he got up, gripping his weapon more tightly this time. There was this feeling, like a vibration of some form of anticipation. Was it him, or was it something else? Would he ever know?

With a sense of foreboding permeating the air around them, Kiyabu felt the weight of the moment pressing down on him like a tangible force. The arena, usually alive with the roar of the crowd and the clash of combat, seemed eerily silent, as if holding its breath in anticipation of the impending confrontation. Kiyabu knew he needed to keep his wits about him, to stay focused despite the tension that crackled in the air like a brewing storm.

His opponent, Vigilon, was known for taking the initiative, often striking first with a precision that left little room for error. Kiyabu's gaze was locked onto Vigilon, every muscle in his body coiled and ready to react at a moment's notice. He had faced many opponents in the past, each battle a lesson learned, but the unpredictability of combat always held a certain edge of uncertainty.

As he watched, Vigilon moved with intent, but suddenly, fate intervened in an unexpected manner. By some random stroke of luck—or perhaps misfortune—Vigilon stumbled, his foot catching on a fleshy object that lay obscured on the ground. The thing was grotesque, its mangled visage a disturbing sight that could unsettle even the most seasoned warrior. It was a moment of vulnerability, a fleeting opportunity that Kiyabu could exploit if he acted swiftly.

‘That’s no...’ Kiyabu's thoughts began to spiral towards the implications of the sight, but he caught himself just in time. ‘Don’t think about it, don’t let your thoughts get clouded by such things.’ He quipped inwardly, a mental reprimand that brought his focus sharply back to the task at hand. The battlefield required clarity, an unwavering resolve that could not be shaken by distractions or fear.

Holding out his dagger in an offensive stance, Kiyabu centered himself, the familiar weight of the weapon a comforting anchor in the midst of chaos. The dagger glinted with a cold, steely promise, its edge honed for precision and effectiveness. In this moment, Kiyabu's mind was a fortress, fortified against the encroaching doubts and fears that sought to undermine his resolve.

In a swift motion, Kiyabu navigated the arena towards his opponent aiming for a solid strike to the body. As his dagger started emitting a faint glow of purple energy, Which was the activation of a Sword Art.

Vigilon could feel his heart rate accelerating. A call, a hunger to punish, to avenge, to tear something apart...but what? But Why?                                 Vigilon's legs were divided into a standing sprawl, and his free hand went up to one of his temples. He shook his head, growling, his eyes closed firmly. He struggled to breathe normally as something began to settle in within him, something wrong. He pulled the hood of his equipment over his head, and his eyes focused like a creature on the prowl. He zeroed in on his opponent and rushed in with all due speed. "̷͉̄C̶͖̚ṟ̴̾u̵͔̓s̷̉͜h̷̡̍ ̴͈͊h̸͙̏i̶̝̊m̶͉̊!̴̮̔"̴̩̌ Sounded the second voice within his mind. Vigilon's sword art activated and Kyrkuran's fires would blaze to life, as Vigilon tore into his opponent with his attack, leaving him stunned and helpless. Vigilon stared down Kiyabu, as he began to think up what his next move should be...but his mind was starting to cloud, was he acting like himself, was he simply releasing pent up emotion on someone who had done him no wrong, or was...or was something else afoot here?

Due to his own misstep, Kiyabu found himself vulnerable, a rare lapse in his usually meticulous approach to combat. His opponent, Vigilon, seized the opportunity with relentless precision, delivering a swift yet burning slash that cut through the air with an audible swish. Kiyabu felt the blade's edge slice across him, a searing pain that was as much a testament to Vigilon's skill as to Kiyabu's momentary error in judgment.

But the attack was more than just a physical wound; it carried within it a sinister magic, a dual-edged curse that manifested as more than a singular status effect. Kiyabu's eyes flicked to the icon next to his health bar, a grim reminder of the secondary effect now taking hold: Blight. The status effect seeped into him like a creeping shadow, promising to sap his strength over time, a poison that threatened to tip the scales against him if left unchecked.

“Nngh!?” The involuntary sound escaped Kiyabu's lips as he felt his body betray him, locking in place as a third, unexpected effect took hold. He was stunned, his muscles frozen under the malicious grip of paralysis, rendering him momentarily unable to launch a counterattack. The realization hit him like a blow, the vulnerability of his situation stark and undeniable.

“This isn’t good…” He groaned through clenched teeth, frustration and pain mingling in his voice. His mind raced, searching for a strategy to overcome the paralysis that had seized him. He knew he needed to act quickly, to find a way to break free from the debilitating effects before Vigilon could capitalize on his defenseless state.

His gaze landed back on Vigilon, who stood poised and ready to strike again. The opponent's confidence was palpable, a reflection of the advantage he had gained. Yet, even in this dire situation, Kiyabu refused to yield to despair. He had faced overwhelming odds before, and each time, he had emerged stronger and wiser.

Drawing on the reserves of his willpower, Kiyabu focused on the lessons learned from past battles, on the inner strength that had carried him through countless challenges. He knew that the key to overcoming the effects lay not just in physical resilience but in mental fortitude, in the ability to remain calm and strategic even when the tide seemed to be against him.

As he stood immobilized, Kiyabu's mind worked furiously, calculating his next move, considering his options. He knew he needed to break the paralysis, to shake off the Blight, and to find a way to turn the battle back in his favor. The path to victory was fraught with obstacles, but for Kiyabu, it was also an opportunity—a chance to prove his mettle and to rise above the adversity he faced.

With determination etched into every fiber of his being, Kiyabu prepared to fight back, drawing on the strength of his spirit and the depth of his resolve. In the heart of the arena, amidst the echoes of combat and the weight of expectation, he stood ready to reclaim his footing and to challenge the fate that had momentarily turned against him.

Vigilon wouldn't have to look up to receive the effects of being under eldritch influence. He could no longer comprehend a single word. First a great eye, then a grotesque mass of tentacles, then a plunge into the depths, all danced across his vision...

This realm...it was unlike anything else he'd seen on Aincrad, this floor was a different world with different rules, and different truths. Every battle was a hunt. Every spillage of blood that wasn't consumed would be left an offering for anything else. to know, to feel, to hunt, to bleed, to seek, to...

"̶̹̽Ě̷ͅm̸̲̄.̴̥͆.̴̫̊.̸̲͆"̴̥̋  Vigilon muttered. "̵̲̈́N̵̦͝ò̴̫,̷͖̇ ̴̱͌d̶̻̍o̶͚̓ǹ̴̰̈́'̷͚̃̅ṱ̵̛̯͑ ̷̣̰̭͊̄́l̵͕̋̽e̸̺̝̯̎̍ṯ̶̭̈́͝ͅ ̶̥̮̈m̷̡̥͙̓ỵ̷̛̾͛̈́ ̶̧̖̺͗̌͜c̸̡̫̤̳͑̆̑̚ó̴̼̅n̴͎̼͖̰̆̌ñ̵͈͕̱͌ẻ̸̥̩͓͔̿̒c̶͔̝̙̈̏̊́ẗ̸̺̣̀̂̑i̴͉̖̅̾ȏ̷̻̚͠n̴̛̯͍̔ ̷̢̈́͑́͒s̶̬͈͉̠̼̘̏͌͜e̸̫̥̣̰͔̳̘̽͗̋͊́̊̓v̵̭͔͙͗e̵̙̮͈̰͉̭̠̿̒̂̈͝r̷̡̫͊́̽̋̌̃͝,̸̛̥̲̼̗̰̹͇̆̋͠ ̴͉̤̠̱͛̏͘d̷̪̫͙̭̼͖̖̋̾̓ő̷̪̎n̶̨̿͐͒̽͐͘͠'̸̛̳̮̐̅̀t̴̡̨̟̘̟̳̦̀̀͑̒̾̾̌-̵̝̝̖̪̮́̍!̷̢̤̙͈̥̟̈́͜"̸̧̰̯̞̏ The second voice cut off. Suddenly Vigilon could hear it no more. The silence. It would be unsettling in a time and place such as this, but was silence not a moment of tranquility and understanding? Of Calmness and confirmation?

̸̝̰̒̄"̴̖͔̑̉r̶͎̍͠a̴̭̒.̷͇͌̿.̶̘͆͝.̶̖̉"̴̼̕ Vigilon's muttering continued. His head pulsed with aches, but he no longer was able to feel them. Not only from the game system's pain dampener, but from the fact that his senses may as well have been obliterated, for whatever did not serve purpose was unnecessary.

"̸̼̪̔k̶̛̤u̴̥̓̇ḻ̴̪́.̶̜͔͌.̷̺̲̏.̵̟͗̚"̵̻̯̑͌ Vigilon continued, losing grasp of his weapon as it slipped out of his hand, falling to the ground. "Uuurrrghhrrrghmnnn..." Vigilon could hold himself no longer. He shambled towards his opponent. "̵̹́̓E̶̡̨̔̓m̷̳̏.̷̲̄.̴̝͔́.̷͍̏r̸͎̅͆á̸̃͜.̷̡̂.̸̘̈.̴̻͗k̵͚͋ụ̶͋͊ḻ̸̕.̶̡̬͗͗.̸̠̈́.̴̺͙̍"̶̻̒ He muttered. There was a host of this battle, but it was not who Vigilon had first believed. No, their host was no man. "̵̹́̓E̶̡̨̔̓m̷̳̏.̷̲̄.̴̝͔́.̷͍̏r̸͎̅͆á̸̃͜.̷̡̂.̸̘̈.̴̻͗k̵͚͋ụ̶͋͊ḻ̸̕.̶̡̬͗͗.̸̠̈́.̴̺͙̍"̶̻̒ Now there was but the command, and then would come what was next. Vigilon looked up to the true host of the battle. "̵̹́̓E̶̡̨̔̓m̷̳̏.̷̲̄.̴̝͔́.̷͍̏r̸͎̅͆á̸̃͜.̷̡̂.̸̘̈.̴̻͗k̵͚͋ụ̶͋͊ḻ̸̕.̶̡̬͗͗.̸̠̈́.̴̺͙̍"̶̻̒ Blood. There needed to be blood. There was only the hunt. Vigilon's head bobbled down as his eyes closed, a mere second of his body trying to come back to its senses...no...but there would only be blood, there would only be the hunt. Vigilon opened his eyes, which were now glowing in a color no one could possibly know or recognize. He growled, he stared his opponent in the eyes, but surely if Vigilon's opponent were to have his vision look within, he would see that the eyes might no longer be Vigilon's at all. "̵͎͗Ḧ̴̦́r̶̖̖̽́r̵̹̆̕r̴̺̊̒ř̷͈͠r̶̟̋r̷͇̼̊̑R̴̨͙̀̂R̸̥̂R̷̨̛͓͑A̵͈͓̿Ȧ̸̘̦Ȁ̴̹̩Ȁ̷̻Ȧ̶͍R̵͙̄͠ͅR̸͖̎̐Ŕ̷̢͕͠R̷̯̕G̵̝͓͠G̵̥͇͂G̷̯̕͠H̶̗̙͆̓H̸̯̭͛̍!̴̰̈́͘!̸͎͖͋!̵̘̉̽͜"̴̜͊͆

Vigilon dashed towards Kiyabu, grappling him and flinging him towards the arena's edge. Kiyabu was still stunned at the time, but not for long. Vigilon advanced, and pounced upon his opponent the way an apex predator would its victim, savagely striking at him. No, fists were too weak, and this body lacked claws. There had to be another way to fulfill the need, an offering of blood. Vigilon quickly assessed his target's body and apparel, looking for the optimal spot to open up a large damage marker that would realistically bleed much if it weren't for how this game worked. Perhaps lore logic was what was really in play here. Vigilon resorted to tearing into the side of his opponent's neck with his teeth. This would not progress the duel, but it seemed to suffice, if the appendages advancing towards both players meant anything, despite the lack of bleed status present in the fight whatsoever.

Vigilon closed his eyes and shook himself off, feeling odd and weary. "What...what the hell am I doing?" He thought as his mind returned at last, his eyes returned to their natural red hue. He got off of his opponent, his expression shocked, wondering what had just happened.

But what terrified him more were the advancing tendrils nearing both players.

In his immobilized state, Kiyabu was left with no choice but to listen intently to the quiet muttering of his opponent, Vigilon. The words were fragmented, a cryptic monologue that hinted at inner turmoil. ‘What's this guy mumbling about not letting a connection be severed?’ Kiyabu wondered silently, trying to decipher the meaning behind the disjointed speech. But as Vigilon’s mutterings became increasingly incoherent, Kiyabu sensed a shift—a dark foreboding that seemed to seep into the very fabric of the arena around them.

Suddenly, Vigilon's usual crimson gaze was replaced by a void, an unsettling emptiness that mirrored the ominous aura of the arena. It was as if he had become a vessel for the madness that permeated this floor. ‘So that's what it'll look like... falling under the influence of this stage.’ Kiyabu murmured quietly under his breath, a realization tinged with unease. He was trapped, still caught in the immobilizing grip of the stun effect, powerless to act.

With his body unresponsive, Kiyabu braced himself for the inevitable punishment. As if on cue, something—or rather someone—forced him to the ground, rendering him defenseless. He locked eyes with the mindless avatar that had moments before been his opponent. It was clear that this maddened beast had something painful in mind. Almost as if fulfilling a dark prophecy, Vigilon sank his teeth into Kiyabu’s neck, seeking to draw blood.

Despite the virtual nature of their realm, the pain was all too real. “NNNGH!?” Kiyabu cried out, the sensation searing through him like fire. He knew that the absence of physical blood did not diminish the anguish that coursed through his body.

As quickly as it began, the madness subsided, and Vigilon regained his sanity. Simultaneously, Kiyabu felt the effects of the stun slowly dissipating, allowing him to regain control. “Glad to have you back, Mate.” Kiyabu expressed in a brief moment of concern. Acknowledging the return of his opponent’s true self. “But let’s not get complacent. We still have a duel to finish.” There was a camaraderie in his words, a shared understanding between warriors who faced not only each other but the arena's malevolent influence.

With renewed resolve, Kiyabu assumed a combat stance, his focus sharpened like the edge of a blade. Without hesitation, he lunged towards Vigilon, intent on striking a vital spot on his opponent’s hind leg. ‘Focus!’ He reminded himself, channeling his energy into precision and speed. His dagger found its mark, landing three swift, piercing stabs to the less-armored area.

But the tables turned once more as the immobilizing effect of the stun took hold of Vigilon, leaving him momentarily vulnerable. Recognizing the fleeting opportunity, Kiyabu knew he needed to act fast. “I should pop this now.” He decided, pulling out a ‘Sanity Tablet’ from his inventory. The tablet was a small, yet potent remedy, designed to counteract the influence of madness.

As Kiyabu consumed the Sanity Tablet, he felt a wave of clarity wash over him, pushing back the insidious tendrils of the arena's madness. It was a temporary reprieve, but one that could tip the balance in their ongoing duel. With a renewed sense of purpose and a clear mind, Kiyabu prepared to continue the fight, determined to overcome the challenges both external and internal.

In the heart of the arena, where the line between reality and illusion blurred, Kiyabu stood ready to face whatever came next, his spirit undaunted and his will unbroken.

Vigilon had awakened to one of the worst possible scenarios yet. Kiyabu was no longer stunned and he was now ready to strike. Vigilon prepared to ready himself, but he'd notice that he did not have Kyrkuran in his grasp, leaving him helpless to his opponent's attack, which left him stunned, thus helpless still. Unable to move he fell to the ground, and could only watch as Kiyabu managed to avoid the appendages reaching for the players, while Vigilon was powerless to avoid them. Some neared him, others grappled at his damaged leg. "Get off me...GET OFF ME!!" Vigilon panicked as he failed to even budge an inch. In his frantic attempts to get moving at all, his gaze flailed about, there was no safety here...and he could not comprehend what it was he saw above the arena.

Gripped with primordial fear, Vigilon was helpless. What an awful feeling this terror was.

After landing the initial strike, Kiyabu skillfully put some distance between himself and Vigilon, his mind already calculating the next move. He wielded his trusted dagger with practiced ease, its familiar weight a comforting presence in his hand. The arena was a crucible of tension, every second stretched taut with the potential for triumph or disaster.

As Kiyabu prepared for another swift assault, he heard the panicked voice of his opponent, Vigilon. The words were fragmented, tinged with fear and confusion, as if Vigilon had glimpsed something beyond comprehension. But Kiyabu knew he couldn't afford to be distracted by his opponent's distress. The match demanded his undivided attention, and any lapse in focus could invite the ominous foreboding back into his mind—a shadow that threatened to undermine his resolve.

With determination etched into every muscle, Kiyabu sprinted towards Vigilon, who was still caught in the dual grip of the stun effect and the maddened terror inspired by the arena's dark influence. The sight of Vigilon, vulnerable and disoriented, spurred Kiyabu to act decisively. He knew that to hesitate was to risk losing the advantage he had painstakingly gained.

Instead of targeting the same area as before, Kiyabu adjusted his strategy, his mind a whirlwind of tactical calculations. With a burst of speed, he aimed for a different target, intending to deliver a swift stab to Vigilon's upper left shoulder. The change in approach was a calculated risk, one that required precision and timing to execute effectively.

As he closed the distance, Kiyabu's movements were fluid and purposeful, his focus honed to a razor's edge. The dagger in his hand was an extension of his will, guided by both instinct and experience. He had fought countless battles, each one a lesson in adaptability and resilience, and he drew upon that wealth of knowledge now.

The moment of impact was a testament to Kiyabu's skill and determination. The blade found its mark, slicing into Vigilon's shoulder with a deftness that spoke to Kiyabu's mastery of his craft. It was a strike intended not to incapacitate but to disrupt, to further unbalance Vigilon and create openings for future maneuvers.

In the aftermath of the strike, Kiyabu remained vigilant, his senses attuned to the ebb and flow of the battle. He knew that the duel was far from over, and that each move, each decision, was a step on the path to victory or defeat. The arena, with its oppressive aura and shifting shadows, was both a stage and a test—a place where warriors proved their mettle against the odds.

As Kiyabu prepared to follow up on his attack, he reminded himself of the stakes and the lessons learned from past encounters. With every fiber of his being, he was committed to seeing the duel through, to facing whatever challenges lay ahead with courage and clarity. In the heart of the arena, amidst the echoes of combat and the whispers of fate, Kiyabu stood resolute, ready to carve his destiny with the edge of his blade.

Oh sure, just leave the other player to suffer at the tendrils of whatever in oblivion was terrorizing him, that's cool and sportsmanlike in a situation like this. "I'm freaking stunned, you could have at least pulled me out and stabbed me after!" Vigilon thought. Well, at least it wasn't Vigilon's good shoulder that was damaged, but the bad news remained that Vigilon was gonna have to contend with the appendages himself, and speaking of which, more appendages came over for the freshly damaged shoulder. "Damn it, what do they want with me?" His thoughts questioned before the stun wore off. The moment he was released by the system, He struggled desperately. It could have easily been his imagination but he was starting to feel lightheaded, and sort of influenced. Once he'd managed to free himself enough to make a getaway from that spot, he pulled out the sanity tablets. "Well, this must be where they come in handy." He thought before eldritch influence could cloud his mind. He took the tablets, and his mind, despite remaining lightheaded, seemed to clear. He took a deep breath, and held out his hand. In a burst of dark flame, Kyrkuran appeared in Vigilon's right hand. "̷͈͇͛̓Ġ̵̭̘̇o̴͎͚̓̽o̷̼̊͜d̴̖͕̏̌ ̶̗̀ţ̷̬̎ò̴͔͕̈́ ̸̘̬̚h̵̻́̅a̵̕͜v̴̬͊ḛ̸͕̾ ̷̣͕͘y̷̮̒͜͝ó̵̟̈u̴̺͛ ̷͎̺̀͗b̶̨͍̀̾a̶̝̍c̴͉̜̀́k̶̠̜̉͒.̴̞̊̀ ̴̞̿̃Ñ̸̲ȯ̵̢ẉ̴͋̓,̶̘͈̉͠ ̵̠̭͌̈́ĺ̴̯ẹ̷̔́t̸̨͗ ̷̖͊u̴̧͗s̸̡͍̉͠ ̴̙͖̚f̶̻͊̊i̴̹̱̓̉n̵̫͚͒ĩ̶̳s̷͕͙̍̐h̵͖̭͆͝ ̶̱̀t̴͉̤͗̂h̶̟̥͐î̸̞͘s̶̻͙̚.̴̱̐"̶̛̲͉̆ Came the second voice he'd been hearing. He was starting to question the source, and the words he could faintly make out.

In the end, he simply needed to ready himself for the inevitable assault of Kiyabu, and possibly those appendages too. ...What did they need blood for, anyway?

Even though his actions might have seemed cowardly to an outside observer, Kiyabu was anything but. He faced a foe—Vigilon—who was grappling with some unseen, eldritch influence that threatened to overwhelm him. In contrast, Kiyabu's mind was clear, having momentarily shaken free from the ominous feeling that had sought to ensnare him. Around them, the arena's atmosphere was charged with tension, punctuated only by the rumbles of the ground and the watchful eyes of their single-digit audience. These spectators, perched from on high, were savoring the spectacle of two players battling not just each other, but also the sinister influence lurking in the arena.

Despite having taken a Sanity Tablet to stave off the madness, Kiyabu could sense the creeping tendrils of the arena's influence attempting to seep back into his consciousness. “Even though I took a tablet… I can faintly feel its influence trying to infect me once more.” He mumbled under his breath, a quiet acknowledgment of the persistent threat. His gaze flickered to Vigilon, who had re-equipped his weapon but had yet to launch a counterattack. The pause signaled a rare opportunity in their relentless duel.

“Seems like I have an opportunity to launch another assault on my opponent…” Kiyabu murmured, his voice filled with determination. Taking a more offensive stance, he focused his energy and intent, ready to seize the moment. “Focus on your target, nothing else matters.” The words of wisdom were a mantra, a mental anchor that cut through the chaos and uncertainty of the battlefield.

With resolve burning bright, Kiyabu dashed towards Vigilon, his dagger poised for action. Each step brought him closer, his movements a blend of speed and precision honed by countless battles. As he closed the gap, his dagger began to emit a soft purple hue, the telltale sign of a Sword Art being activated. The energy coursed through the weapon, infusing it with power and purpose.

Kiyabu planned to deliver a third strike, targeting another vital spot with the hope of tipping the balance further in his favor. The Sword Art imbued his strike with enhanced strength and accuracy, a formidable combination that could pierce through defenses and exploit vulnerabilities. In the heat of the moment, the world around him faded into the background, leaving only the clarity of his objective.

He moved with the fluid grace of a predator, his senses attuned to the rhythm of the duel. The arena, with its oppressive aura and watchful audience, was a crucible where skill, luck, and determination intertwined. Kiyabu knew that the stakes were high, that each decision could be the difference between victory and defeat.

As he prepared to strike, Kiyabu's mind was clear, his focus unwavering. He embraced the uncertainty of the battle, confident in his ability to adapt and overcome. The dance of combat was a testament to his resilience and ingenuity, a celebration of the warrior spirit that drove him forward.

In the heart of the arena, amidst the echoes of battle and the whispers of fate, Kiyabu was determined to carve his path to victory, one decisive move at a time.

Vigilon looked towards his opponent. The sanity tablets seemed to help him keep his head on straight. He could see without feeling like his mind was being invaded, and yet, he could still hear that second voice in his head. "̴̙͆O̶̢͆u̷̲̎r̸͙̂ ̷̰͝o̴̖͌p̶̖͘p̵͓̽o̷̢͒r̴̩̚t̷̪͊u̵͙̓n̵͇̾ī̸̝t̷̻̽y̶͉͂ ̵̱̔h̴͓͌a̷̹̿s̸̓͜ ̷̖͊c̶̜̈́o̸̤̓m̶̺̆ẻ̶͓.̴̙̔ ̶̬͆Ṡ̴̰t̷̡̋r̷̻̐ǐ̷̜k̵̗̈́e̷̛̹ ̷̮͝n̵̠̑o̶̯͌ẘ̷̬,̵̨́ ̷̙̽s̸̢̔o̷͔͂ ̴̬̽t̷̹̆ḥ̴̛a̶̰̍t̴̰̎ ̶̮͘w̵̭̓ë̶̖́ ̴̳̐m̵̛̭a̵̟̿y̵̯͊ ̸̝͝f̴̧̈́ḭ̶̽n̷͕̈́i̸̻͋s̸̲͝ẖ̴̈ ̶̰̉t̸̺̿ḩ̴̅i̴͚͗s̶̱͒.̸̤̊"̸̗͑

Vigilon nodded, then looked to his weapon. The "eye" on the hilt opened up to look at Vigilon...now it all made sense. Kyrkuran wasn't just some weapon that binds to certain individuals and disappears from others, Kyrkuran was an intelligent weapon, like some weapons in the Dungeons and Dragons sessions he'd played in.
     He then looked to Kiyabu.
"Well if you're not gonna have a little concern for another, I guess I shouldn't let up either." He decided. In his eyes, this was something that needed to be settled. While Vigilon saw helping others out as common sense, he didn't know if his opponent thought the same way...but in reality, the sooner he finished this, the sooner the two players would be able to escape from what may or may not be a malevolent being above. Either it was malicious or it just...was. Either way, Vigilon knew that staying near this thing and its influence was just asking for trouble. He took a deep breath as his weapon began to glow both a deep violet and a burning red, laced with traces of dark energy. "Kyrkuran, zyn gre zhal xe shiul vyeil natho!" He spoke. Upon this, he felt a deep shadow within both himself and his weapon. "̵͈͛O̴͕͂ṵ̷́r̶͕͛ ̴͔͂p̶͇̄ő̴̤w̴̘͒e̶̞͑ṛ̴̓s̸̫͆ ̴̝́c̸̫̋o̸̢̎m̷̜̀b̶̨̃ȋ̷̦n̷̎ͅȇ̴̘d̶̯̏,̶̹͋ ̷̨̀t̶̙͝h̶̻͒e̷͔͂ ̷̦̒c̷͇̅ą̴̀l̶̢͐l̶͔̀ ̸͕͗i̶̪͒s̸̝̚ ̸̡͝a̸͜͝n̴͈̒s̸͔̚ŵ̵̹e̶͉͌r̸̪̉ė̷͈d̵̞̎.̸͉̕ ̸̹͂L̷̯̆e̵̺͘t̶̛̝ ̷̢͐ö̷̯́ṵ̸̈́r̴̲͛ ̷̤͊Ẁ̷͈r̷̰͋a̷͓̋t̸̨̔ȟ̵̥ ̴̝̈́b̸̧͑e̷̮̕ ̸̯̏ü̷̺n̵̙̚ḽ̸̽e̷͖͌ä̷̰́s̴͔̀ḩ̵̊ę̴̾d̴̮͠!̷̲̃"̸͍́ Came the voice within his mind that he now knew to be Kyrkuran. The sword practically roared to life with a billowing dragonfire that cloaked the entire blade, before Vigilon rushed over to his opponent, giving him no quarter of escape. "Hyyaaaaarrrrggghhh!"

With his opponent Cornered, Vigilon unleashed a series of devastating blows, each one scorching him and leaving traces of of the weapon's Dark Energy as a blight on his avatar. Vigilon then leapt back. "In just a little time, those dark flames will sear 'til you're unconscious. Think you can take me down before that happens?" He called out.

Because Kiyabu had taken the ‘Sanity Tablet,’ his mind was shielded from the insidious influence of the Eldritch horrors lurking in the arena. This protective measure left him blissfully unaware of the bizarre tendrils that had ensnared his opponent, Vigilon, just moments before. Yet, in the chaos of battle, perceptions were skewed, and Vigilon, grappling with the phantoms of his own mind, misinterpreted Kiyabu's demeanor. To Vigilon, it seemed as though Kiyabu had no intention or concern for a fellow player's plight, a misjudgment born of desperation and fear.

Had Kiyabu seen the tendrils' malicious grasp, he might have attempted to assist Vigilon, to sever the spectral chains that held him. But in the shifting sands of combat, such opportunities were fleeting and easily missed.

While listening to the cryptic chant emanating from his opponent, Kiyabu watched as Vigilon eyed his weapon with an unsettling intensity. The chant was a murmur of madness, a prelude to the storm that was about to be unleashed. Suddenly, Vigilon broke into a sprint, closing the distance with alarming speed. Kiyabu instinctively attempted to back away, but found himself cornered, trapped in a situation he hadn’t anticipated.

The assault was relentless. Blow after blow rained down upon him, each strike a devastating reminder of the power Vigilon wielded. His health bar dwindled rapidly under the onslaught, the dual effects compounding the damage inflicted upon his avatar. “Argh~!!” Kiyabu groaned, the pain of the physical strikes mingling with the insidious aftereffects that gnawed at his resolve.

Once the barrage subsided, Vigilon's voice cut through the haze of pain and exertion. He warned that the status effects would continue to erode Kiyabu's health, threatening to knock him unconscious. Yet, there was a challenge laced in his words—a taunt inviting Kiyabu to try and defeat him before his strength waned completely. “Given how much I chip away at your health, I don't think I'll be able to defeat you in that short time…” Kiyabu admitted, acknowledging a gap in his skills that loomed large.

But just as despair threatened to take hold, an ominous feeling began to creep into Kiyabu's mind. “Aah.. I see, it is the power thy seek.. If thee can offer a sacrifice for such gift, would thy be willing to pay it?” The voice was dark and seductive, echoing in the recesses of his mind with a promise of forbidden power. Kiyabu clenched the side of his head, the voice’s booming presence leaving him shaken.

“No! If I want power, I'll gain it through effort, not some bargain from a forgotten creature of dark legends!” Kiyabu declared, his voice firm and resolute. He rejected the temptation, standing his metaphorical ground against the insidious whisper that sought to ensnare him. With determination coursing through his veins, he squeezed the handle of his dagger, focusing on the tangible reality of the weapon in his hand.

“Even if my odds are low of beating you, I will honestly try to meet those expectations!” Kiyabu vowed, his spirit unbroken. With renewed resolve, he launched a counterattack at Vigilon, his dagger emitting a faint purplish glow that only grew brighter with each stride. The light was a beacon of his will, a testament to his refusal to succumb to darkness.

As he charged, each step carried the weight of his conviction, the purplish glow a manifestation of his inner strength. The arena, a battleground of chaos and uncertainty, was now the stage for his defiance. Kiyabu was determined to fight not just for victory, but for the integrity of his spirit, a warrior unyielding in the face of overwhelming odds.
