<<Face Claim Details>>

  • Face Claim Name: Okabe Rintarō

  • Real Name: RS00 (UID: Hyde Sukunahiko Mk-I)
  • Age: 21 years and counting
  • Birthday: 08/02
  • Gender: Male
  • Height: 5’ 7” (170.2 cm)
  • Weight: 148.0 lbs. (67.1 kg)

<<Background>>

Hyde’s story also begins like anyone else’s, namely with that of his parents, who hailed from opposite sides of the world. His father’s line has lived in London, UK, since their founding and has produced generation after generation of genius physicians. Similarly, Hyde’s mother and her lineage have resided in Tokyo, Japan, since their founding and have produced generation after generation of genius scientists. These two are also similar in that their members are not only talented scientific professionals but also talented business magnates who have made their respective families ultra-wealthy and influential over several generations, from the past to the present. Hyde’s parents are the current leaders of their respective families, and they first met each other during a scientific conference held in Boston, Massachusetts, America, sometime in the past.

Naturally, Hyde’s parents grew closer because of how similar they were in all respects, and before too long, they were united in wedlock. Of course, this could only happen due to how vehemently each one defended the other’s worth to their respective families. In due course, Hyde was born to them and was unanimously declared by both sides of his family to be their sole heir due to the plethora of genetic gifts that he inherited from his father’s side (e.g., keen senses, genius intellect, high dexterity, etc.) and his mother’s side (e.g., keen intuition, genius intellect, high stamina, etc.). Consequently, he was given rigorous and comprehensive education in all the areas of expertise expected to be in the repertoire of the scion of any socioeconomically exalted family as his own (e.g., fine arts, business and economics training, martial arts, STEM subjects, negotiation and persuasion, etc.). These stimulated his curiosity strongly over and over, causing him to immerse himself in pursuing knowledge through auto-didactic means when he was not busy with his private or formal academic instruction.

Thus, time marched onward slowly but surely for Hyde as he grew from a young boy to his late teens, and he progressed from elementary to high school during this time. Thanks to the combination of the extra academic and extracurricular lessons he was receiving and the many genetic gifts he was blessed with at birth, he stood at the top of his class at every stage of formal education. Eventually, he graduated with top honors successfully by the time his 16th birthday rolled around. Afterward, he was successfully admitted into Harvard Medical School because of his top-tier grades and enrolled in its famous and world-class MD/PhD program on his 17th birthday. During this time, several other equally important things happened to him (e.g., the permanent development of the mad scientist personality he will have lifelong, his acquisition of his caniphobia for bestial dogs and wolves along with his acrophobia for 300+ m heights, his overt hedonism, etc.).

Despite all this, Hyde graduated successfully from his MD/PhD by the time his 20th birthday rolled around, becoming one of the youngest to do so that year. With that done, he started working as a fully qualified professional physician-scientist at the world-famous hospital affiliated with Harvard University by the time he turned 21 years old. However, this was when fate started having other plans for him, for it led him to purchase the world-famous "VRMMORPG" known as “Sword Art Online” that had been released on live servers by that point since he had gained yet another obsession, namely with anime, manga, pop culture, mythology, and with video games of all kinds. Sadly, though, soon after he had completed his initial login to the game with his “Nerve Gear” headset, he became trapped in the game along with the 9999 other players who had also logged into the game along with him. From here, it remains to be seen what his life will throw at him, but it will be an interesting ride.

<<Virtues>>

  • Intellectual:

Like all other mad scientists, “Hyde” is eternally curious about the world around him and its contents (i.e., objects, entities, and phenomena), especially if they are mysterious, since those are the ones that fascinate him the most of all. Consequently, he is always obsessed with and immersed in pursuing scientific, technological, mathematical, and engineering-related knowledge about them. This obsession also has the effect of causing him to enjoy all types of intellectual pursuits, like indulging in scientific research and development, strategy games, and problem-solving since these provide him with the intense mental stimulation he craves so much. This, in turn, means that he is also considerably adept at tackling and successfully resolving situations that involve these types of challenges while staying calm and collected almost all the time, regardless of their specifics.

  • Determined:

Hyde” has made it his prime directive to pursue, acquire, and study all the mysteries in the world around him and its contents (i.e., objects, entities, and phenomena). Therefore, he constantly strives toward this goal with an almost relentless drive and with everything and everyone at his disposal, regardless of who or what they are to him. Of course, he will stop short of this only if the situation forces his hand in some way and by some means that he cannot counteract or adapt to promptly to resume pursuing his objectives in the situation at hand despite his best efforts.

  • Cautious:

Hyde is quite circumspect in handling almost all situations he encounters due to the mainly intellectual bent of his core personality. Consequently, if possible, he likes to advance multiple strategies simultaneously in a parallel fashion when trying to solve the situational challenges that may confront him at any point for some reason or another. Moreover, he will not hesitate to close the proverbial book on one or more of the plans he has running currently if he finds that they are not conducive to the achievement of his situational objectives or the solution(s) to whatever problem(s) may be facing him in whatever situation he may find himself. Still, he prefers to set up events such that even the cancellation of one or more of his plans will inevitably lead him to achieve his situational objectives successfully despite the obstacles impeding him.

Hyde also prefers to maintain this mindset and operational philosophy, both in and outside combat, regardless of the specific nature of target(s) and challenges. Also, if he foresees encountering any enemies, he prefers to research them as much as possible through remote means before he even begins to confront them so that he can glean as much data as possible about them and everything related to them from their personality quirks to their armament preferences and fighting style to the number of their allies and enemies, and so on. The only exception to this usual approach is if he encounters something mysterious or exotic that fascinates him endlessly (Note: Refer to the “Unscrupulous” flaw in his personality descriptors for more details on this)

<<Flaws>>

  • Unscrupulous:

Hyde” embodies the stereotypical mad scientist archetype fully in breadth and depth regardless of the situation he is involved in, almost always with very few exceptions. Specifically, he always thinks of everyone around him, including himself and everything in the world, as potential specimens to be employed in his research studies and treats them accordingly. Therefore, he never has respect or regard for most others and is even willing to turn his subordinates, his allies, and even himself into lab rats or some other means to an end if doing so would allow him to acquire all the materials and data he needs for his research studies. This is especially true if these materials and data are ones that he has not yet encountered in any previous situation since there is nothing he is as obsessed with as pursuing and acquiring knowledge at any cost, either to himself or others. That, in turn, means that Hyde would readily abandon any semblance of ethics, morality, common social graces, and even the instinct of self-preservation without an iota of compunction if they obstructed his way to acquiring this desired knowledge in any way.

  • Hedonistic:

During those rare few occasions when “Hyde” is not obsessed with pursuing his ongoing and ever-burgeoning mad science research studies to the point of being an outright workaholic, he can usually be found immersed in indulging his vices to the point of overt hedonism. Sometimes, this involves him spending hours, days, or weeks searching for and doing almost anything to acquire rare and exotic cuisines and vintage wines to indulge his addiction to them. At other times, this involves him spending hours, days, or weeks searching for and doing almost anything to acquire all kinds of fluffy and squishy creatures and objects to indulge his addiction to them. When he is not indulging in his addiction to these, he can be found spending hours, days, or weeks searching for and doing almost anything to acquire anything related to pop culture and mythology to indulge his addiction to them.

  • Manipulative:

Hyde” has no qualms about manipulating those around him to get what he wants or needs for some purpose in any given situation via various means. These include working alongside anyone or anything he wants or needs to manipulate to accomplish his goals, regardless of their ethical and moral inclinations, beliefs, or other traits. They also involve portraying himself according to the expectations of those he wants or needs to manipulate to accomplish his goals, regardless of his views about them. Along with these two effects, this trait also causes him to never balk at the prospect of having to control information flow from him to those around him, whether they be allies or enemies (e.g., concealing data or information completely, delivering incomplete data or information, editing the details of any data or information he acquires before delivery to others if it suits his narratives and goals to do so, etc.)
