[Clash Of Blades Season 1] Week 5: Vigilon v Telrenya

Recommended Posts

 Minako rubbed her head, still feeling the awful aftereffects of floor 29. Last weeks games were a messy blur, and she couldn't remember much other than who won which bout. Regardless, she had her partner to thank for keeping her in check, and to help with the strange after-effects. Kindling was growing to be more and more of a prominent part of her life, and one she was thankful to have. She couldn't have asked for a better showmen, nor partner. She smiled as she tried on her simple gown. It was cinched at the waist by a beautiful bet of gold. Decorated with golden finery, it stood brightly out against the gold and red sash she worse draped over her shoulders. The entire ensemble commanded strength, resolve, and respect. Truly, a noble among the NPC rabble that dashed along to make sure that the 'games' were running smoothly.

The arena itself was simple, very much like the first week. A small clearing, free of grass, stone, and roots. It's long oblong shape gave people plenty of room to move around. Stands surrounded the arena, letting NPC's and PC's find decent seating to get a decent angle on the coming fights. At the far end, was a pedestal where Minako and Kindling were to be. Flanked by guards, and decorated by columns the pair stood almost as tall as royalty. "Ladies, and gentlemen of the land! We gather here today for a monumentous occasion. The Clash of Blades has grown to quite the showing, and stretching from the humble Town of Beginnings to now at the base of Olympia. When Kindling and I started this event, we had no idea it would evolve into something of this grand, and for that we thank you, the participants, and the gods themselves!" As she spoke, lightning rang from the heavens striking a nearby brazier. It alit in a sea of dancing flame that tossed and turned in the slight breeze. "And it would seem that indeed we do have the blessing  of the gods! Who knows what this may bring?" She shouted, meeting the cheers with a large smile.

"On this side we have a man whose gone practically even this event! It's the self proclaimed dragon! It's Vigilon!" The crowd cheered, a few fans sporting banners and flags. Cheering for the middling performance of Vigilon. "And over here! A woman who has been on quite the loss streak until recently! Even if her last opponent gave up, you too can give it up for Telrenya!" Minako shouted, Telrenya had her fair number of fans. Banners and flags waved about in support. A veritable underdog and fan favorite it would seem.

As the fighters entered the arena, they would notice that they're HP totals would double, the green bar extending slightly and filling up. "Now then fighters-" Minako said, raising a hand. The crowd began to go wild, with cheering, stomping, clapping, hollering, and making noise. Minako dropped her hand, signaling the start of the match.

"Clash!"

~~~Σ~~~Ω~~~θ~~~
Welcome to the Fifth week of Clash of Blades - Heroes of Olympia! This week's thematic is fairly simple; The Event Shop has some Greek-Myth inspired armaments and items, and whatever your HP is after calculations - Double it.
 There has been several changes from last week, so please be sure to have the Informational at the ready!
Another soft reminder to NOT use outside items. Please use only the items purchased in the Event Shop.
Spoiler
  • Please remember to LINK your Spreadsheet, and triple check that your stats are correct. Failure to do so before the actual combat begins will result in a loss by default. Going forward, we will be taking a much more hardline stance on this rule. The reason for that is out of respect for the time and energy of the hosts, and your fellow participants.
  • TECH-A is disbaled this week, and cannot be used. Get your stuns and CC somewhere else!
                            Well, if there was one thing that was certain, the crowds were now much more in number, and dedication! Vigilon also did not expect to see banners that resembled something oddly close to what he was once thinking of...and, well, if his latest connections with a few individuals were anything to go by, someone must have made use of the emblem he'd drawn up as a prototype...and, oddly enough, it was looking good here at the moment. Maybe he'd keep it that way. He noticed a few familiar faces in the crowd that supported Vigilon. Obviously there was Krysta there in the crowd. Aside from the madness of last week, Krysta had been there for all his matches. The look in her eyes showed a little concern for both players involved, as they both had much to lose, if Vigilon heard the hostess correctly about his opponent's current record. There was that cloaked figure again, watching Vigilon silently, as though analyzing him thoroughly. He also noticed the Satyr that guided him to Mount Olympia when he'd shown up for his challenge was also in the crowd. Well, he'd proven his capability as a craftsman last time he was here, so it looked like the Satyr would now be witnessing Vigilon's mettle in battle. Among the crowd were also a few friends, such as Shulko, Typha, and Aurami. Had there really been this much word getting around on the tournament? Vigilon had gotten a new beltbuckle to add to his equipment for the occasion, but it had an empty socket, and he decided to try something. He placed the glowing stone he'd gotten into the socket, and it fit like a glove. The stone activated, causing the air in its radius to shimmer and wave, while creating a Flame Aura to defend Vigilon with. He'd fill the socket with something else later.
                          Vigilon looked over to his opponent. He gave a respectful bow, one hero acknowledging another. "Honestly, I wasn't expecting to see you on the battlefield this soon." He began. "It does pain me to learn what you've been through so far, and I'm still looking forward to seeing you reach the brackets. However..." Vigilon drew Kyrkuran, and took position for the battle. "That doesn't mean I'm going to just hand this battle over to you on purpose. Not only am I aiming for the brackets as well, the crowd deserves a good show, wouldn't you say?" He stated. A smile crept up on his face. "So why don't we make this a battle they'll talk about for years to come, in which both our valiant efforts are recognized and appreciated?"
Telrenya’s cheeks burned at her introduction. So many times had she thought to drop out of the competition. So many times had she considered calling it quits. She didn’t need to be doing this to prepare herself for the frontlines. With three stinging losses under her belt and their host’s announcement of her only victory thus far coming from a withdrawal, Telrenya questioned why she hadn’t thrown in the towel yet.
She entered the arena and regarded Vigilon with a nervous trepidation. Clearly her confidence had long since wavered, but his greeting distracted her briefly. She flashed a forced smile. A polite smile. ”Nice to see you again so soon, either way!” She chuckled, and mirrored his bow with a quick greeting of her own. What he said next gave her pause. ’A good show, huh…?’ She thought. Her head swiveled towards the crowd. It was the complete opposite of the previous week - where last she was overwhelmed with the oppressive silence, now she was deafened by cheers. Vigilon was right. The show must go on.
She drew her rapier with a surge of courage. ”Of course! Let’s give it our all!”
                         Telrenya reciprocated Vigilon's bow. After all that happened in the previous weeks, Vigilon was just itching for a fair fight. No non damage build to beat with little resistance, no absolute bullcrap, no nasty tricks hidden from view, and of course, no eldritch nightmares or voices in Vigilon's head. While this may have been Vigilon's chance for a fair fight for once, he kind of felt bad that a victory for him would also lessen a potential friend's chances of making it into the brackets, and he was really looking forward to her at least making it that far. In the end, however, this was a competitive clash of wills, so the best he could do was just give his all, put on a show, and hope for a close fight, regardless of the result. Two struggling competitors entered the arena to test themselves, and only one would be able to make progress in this fight...but for now, Vigilon put those thoughts on the back burner.
                    Vigilon waited patiently for the hostess's signal, waiting for the moment to take action. Soon the call was made, and the battle began.
      Vigilon locked his gaze to his opponent, and dashed. He got in close, then hopped to the side before activating his sword art. Kyrkuran came ablaze with its flames billowing forth as a dragon's fire would, as he dealt a great blow against Telrenya. "Heh...that ought to kick things off, I guess." He thought aloud. Vigilon kept his eyes on Telrenya, wondering what her next move would be.
Her opponent made the first move. Telrenya flicked her rapier up to take a defensive position, but even with a generous backstep, Vigilon got too close. A quick feint, and she was left with no room to maneuver. His strike came fast and true, and Telrenya was left stumbling backwards to catch herself. That was a nasty hit.
She was just about to lunge back into the fray for a counterattack, but she flinched in hesitation. Her eyes flickered to the top of her HUD, where she could spot the two new icons resting beneath her health bar. She winced a little as she watched the status effects already draining her HP. If there was ever a time to use that item, it seemed to have presented itself straight away. Her eyes snapped back onto her opponent and she turned her wrist to reposition her rapier to the ready. She couldn’t afford to leave herself wide open.
Telrenya darted back in and they crossed blades with a shower of sparks dancing across the arena’s floor. The clang of metal rang out over the stands and the crowd cheered in kind. She ducked underneath a wide, sweeping arc of his sword. ’Now!’ Her free hand pulled out the glass mirror by its handle and she aimed its reflection at Vigilon’s face. A light blue glow enveloped her and the mirror shimmered, transferring the negative effects between them.
                   Vigilon could see that Telrenya was on full guard. Maybe a few easily deflected blows could provide an opening for another sword art. Vigilon didn't need to advance, however, for Telrenya darted over and the two players would clash their blades. Telrenya would duck under one of Vigilon's attempts to get her to block and open herself to a sword art, then she held up a Glass Mirror.
                              Vigilon deadpanned. He totally saw this coming, he just didn't want to be correct. His expression unchanged, he pulled out his own Glass Mirror with his free hand. "Oh, no you don't." He said as the item activated, Uno Reversing Telrenya's Uno Reverse. "What? Did you think I wouldn't see this coming?" He asked. "I'll spare you the details, but after what I've experienced so far, what I'm looking forward to is a fair fight." He stated bluntly. He wasn't interested in beating up someone who couldn't fight back, he wasn't too keen on putting up with a BS dumpster fire, he was peeved by losing to a nasty surprise that came in the form of a trap, and he certainly didn't miss the eldritch influence. He was getting a fair fight one way or the other. He then took position, ready to dodge or deflect. "Now, let's try this again, shall we?"
”What?!” No sooner than Telrenya had flashed her mirror and reflected the harsh effects of Vigilon’s attack, she was left staring at her own reflection in the mirror he held up right back at her. She flinched as the renewed burn and blight chipped away at her health, and she sucked her teeth as the reality of his counter-move sunk in. She shook her head, forced to laugh off the misfortune. ”No, that makes sense. It was a smart move to prepare.” She was kicking herself alongside the compliment, but did her best not to let it show.
She’d just have to go about this the old fashioned way. A lunge, a thrust, and an amateur fencer’s shuffle. Telrenya’s sword glowed with the activation of an art, but Vigilon’s defenses wouldn’t allow her through. She circled in between strikes, the light from her blade leaving streaks in the air where it slid against his own and jerked back for another attempt. Fancy displays and flourishes ran rampant with their clashes. Telrenya would hop back, crouch, dart forward, then tumble aside to avoid the bite of his flame-touched sword. Her strikes were all superficial–barely enough for Cardinal to humor with a scratch. But the spectacle? Light and sparks danced among them and the crowd rumbled in anticipation of the next big blow.
                              Well, suffice to say, the two players must have been figuring out each others' fighting styles at this point. Vigilon managed to correctly guess each attempt to strike, deflecting every thrust and slash. Honestly, the only thing that would keep a different weapon from stopping a thin saber or rapier would be the weight of the deflecting weapon. Similar to fencing, deflecting a fencing weapon with a one handed tool all relied on the wrist, and the faster you could move it, the more easily you could stop an opponent's slash.
         Ah, but prediction and notice of detail can easily go both ways. Even if a rapier struggled to deflect a bastard sword, there was always the art of dodging, which would be relatively easy for one whose battle style would keep them light on their feet. Telrenya's use of Cloth Armor seemed to suggest this to Vigilon, but perhaps there was more to it than that. Sometimes it was the crafter's wisdom in what goes where, or how much material goes to which locations, or even how to assemble it. Vigilon made advances of his own and attempted to strike, but the two blows that managed to get past the more agile defenses failed to damage Telrenya's avatar, resulting in little more than metal sliding across with some probably uncomfortable pressure.
      Style, Mobility, Function...wait...was that Krysta's Handiwork? It sure had the style and flair, but Vigilon couldn't confirm it nor ask it now, he had to stay focused. Besides, how could he know for sure that Krysta was the only Tailor on Aincrad with such an aesthetic eye for style? Regardless, Vigilon shook his head and got himself back in the game. Maybe his mind was starting to wander as an after effect of whatever the hell went down over on Floor 29, he was still feeling kinda fuzzy on that.
                           Well, aside from the fencing tactics used, the cloth armor, and possibly beatdown logic and battle rage, there was a certain level of skill Telrenya seemed to have, or maybe Vigilon was just imagining things. As the two players clashed, their blades came into lock. "Despite your mobility and weapon choice, you kinda fight like my sister," Vigilon remarked. "And trust me, that's a compliment!" He added before the two players separated from their lock.
”Hah!” Vigilon’s comment got her to laugh. ”I didn’t even know you had a sister,” She remarked back, giving in to the mild banter, ”but I hope she’s cheering me on!” Telrenya had loosened up a bit. Witty comments and clever jokes certainly weren’t her forte, but the company she’d shared for so long must have rubbed off on her somewhat.
They were evenly matched, it seemed, each of them fighting tooth and nail to find an opening in the other’s defenses. Telrenya’s health sat noticeably less full than Vigilon’s as the remainder of his weapon’s additional damage ran its course and she spotted the debuffs disappearing from her HUD in the corner of her vision. She hardly had time for a sigh of relief. The crowd simply couldn’t be kept waiting.
A quick flourish. A change in her posture. Her blade, held low out to the side, hummed and glowed with the activation of another art. Telrenya’s right foot slid back against the stone tiles almost as if she might dip into a curtsy. She leaned forward, the ball of her foot planting and pushing hard to propel her forward in a swift lunge to close the gap between them in an instant. Dust kicked up from her feet and around her path, and like a lightning bolt shooting sideways, the gleam of her rapier streaked through the air.
But as it thrusted forward in a flurry of empowered attacks, none found their mark. A quick swipe through the air cut the thin cloud and revealed her opponent missing from where he stood moments ago. ’He’s fast!’ She spun around, searching for his counter-attack.
                                       Well, at least the battle was livelier now. Vigilon chuckled at Telrenya's claim. "Ha! Joke's on you, she hasn't cheered on anyone, no man, woman or even sports team, for over a decade!" He responded. He hadn't seen Alyssa at all during his time in this game, leaving him on the current assumption that she wasn't in this game at all. His eyes quickly scanned the crowd, no sign of Alyssa anywhere, and he'd have been able to recognize her from a mile away if she was present. Regardless, Vigilon was appreciating this battle more than any of the others that came before. Was he...actually enjoying himself now?
            Clash, swing, deflect, dodge. Vigilon leapt out of harm's way when Telrenya came like a lightning bolt. The two would continue to be ad odds with each other, neither player managing to breach the other's defenses nor agility. Vigilon attempted yet another sword art between his swings, but this attack was dodged just as swiftly as the last, if not more. "Hah, that's some impressive speed you've got there." Vigilon complimented. "Of course, you're not out of the woods just yet!"
Despite their lengthy and grandiose displays of combat prowess, Telrenya’s stamina had barely been scratched. Each sword art she threw out had fizzled without a target, and so Cardinal hadn’t deemed it necessary to present any symptoms of fatigue. So she continued, another quick turn, a dash and a parry.
”Oh, of course not!” She shot back with a smile. Just as soon as she’d quipped back, her eyes lit up as she spotted an opportunity. An unmistakable chance to slip past his defenses, just once. ”But neither are you!” Her voice came with emphasis as she lunged deeply, dropping her stance and activating yet another art as quickly as she could force it. Her rapier shot forward at an angle, twice, and then a dozen times.
Yet it was a small victory, and not without cost. Vigilon’s armor burned to life with a roar as the effects of his fiery defenses were quick to not only dampen the blow, but bite back at her. She winced as fresh flames danced up the length of her blade and clawed at her skin. Just as soon as she’d delivered her attack, Telrenya darted back to once again put some distance between them. She let out a small sigh of relief as the cool air brushed past her warm skin. ”Why do I get the feeling this is going to be an uphill battle?”
                                         Vigilon always knew there would be no way to escape the chance of error, no strategy or defensive maneuver would ever be perfect...he just wasn't expecting to slip this soon.
            But hey, that's what he'd gotten the Trial By Fire stone for, wasn't it? A blaze emerged to strike back at Telrenya, thus her successful hit against Vigilon had a cost. Telrenya asked why she got the feeling this was going to be an uphill battle. Vigilon smiled. "Heh, well that's because I'd prepared for one myself, as you can see. The stone I'd fitted into this beltbuckle's socket isn't exactly for show, you know." He noted, revealing the item as the cause for the Flame Aura he normally wouldn't have access to with his preferred armor type. He then straightened himself up and readied another sword art, but it seemed Telrenya was just as fast as ever, and his attack was swiftly dodged with seemingly little effort. "As of the moment I can't seem to tell if it's a speed difference or if I'm becoming predictable...but if she's truly just faster than me, catching up won't do, I'll have to find a way to outmaneuver her somehow..." He thought, wondering how he'd be able to get in more hits than that first impression.
The crowd buzzed with excitement when a blow had at last been struck. As intense as their duel had been thus far, stalemates could only be so entertaining for an audience. Telrenya’s eyes landed on the belt buckle he presented as the cause of his improved defenses. ’Of course.’ She’d remembered seeing the item in this week’s shop, but she’d put all her eggs in one basket by spending her precious tokens on the glass mirror. Adding more buffs on her end would have only complicated her plan, and risked handing her opponent an advantage when she’d meant to turn the tables. ’Well, at least now I know.’ She inwardly sighed.
Another bout, and Telrenya could tell that Vigilon was trying just as hard to find an angle on her. That first hit was rough, and she knew that any critical strikes he might manage to land on her would be game-changing. If she had any hope of staying in the game, she couldn’t let her guard down for a second. Especially if she had to contend with that nasty retaliation damage…
An overhead sweeping strike caught Vigilon’s sword to block in a clang of metal. Sparks littered the space between them as she dragged her blade down across his. She lacked the raw strength to shove his defenses aside or knock him off balance, so she’d have to rely on speed. The steel sang and she stepped quickly. A back-step, a feint, a lunge, and then a counterstrike. A fast, successive offense and Telrenya managed to slip in another attack. She grit her teeth through the stone’s fiery lashing, but before she’d retreat she had one last trick up her sleeve.
She’d caught Vigilon in the side. Withdrawing her rapier, she spun around at his back and in her off hand she produced a small, ornate dagger that promptly dug into where his opposite kidney would be. The vampire knife leeched some precious hit points before its use became expended and it shattered into pixels. With another quick turn, Telrenya then backed off, breathing a bit heavier now after all that exertion.
                     So much for trying to outmaneuver his opponent, being outsped turned out to be a bigger disadvantage than first anticipated. Vigilon began to wonder if the battle from last week was causing him to slip. He'd already tried a number of things to keep the nightmares out, was he starting to falter, or was he just being tormented by some other power above, yet certainly lesser than divine? This tournament, he wasn't middling so far, he was struggling, so after all he'd been through, why was he not managing to deal with even a simple fight like this?
                             Now he was in a worse state than Telrenya was, and the Flame aura did nothing against her critical attack. How could he win like this? The stalemate was broken, but it was now in Telrenya's favor. Vigilon had to think of something fast, or he would surely lose again. "Come on Alex, you're better than this, you're smarter than this! There's gotta be a way..." He thought. All he could manage in this moment against Telrenya was a series of deflected and dodged attacks as he sought out an opening, but pretty soon he'd have to go on the evasive if he didn't want to dip closer to failure.
Their banter had stopped now. Each of them were embroiled in the fight, concentrating on the other’s movements, straining to make their own as perfect as possible. The enjoyment of a friendly skirmish drained away and they were left with two competitors who were equally desperate to win. Clawing at the promise of victory, Telrenya’s blade connected with another empowered attack and she once again felt the bite of his crystal’s burn. Their avatars wore scattered slashes and pinpricks of bright red battle damage, reflecting the damage they took like scars, and the noise of the crowd came in inconsistent waves, cheering for their chosen champion, holding their breath while metal slammed against metal, and the releasing their shouts of praise or disapproval.
Telrenya’s breaths grew heavy, her shoulders rising and falling more laboriously as she felt that creeping sense of exertion. It was everything she had to avoid his blows, all the while gritting her teeth that every strike she landed came at a price. She met Vigilon’s eyes, once or twice. She could see it. Catch a glimpse of it, at least. That sense of self-scrutiny, that glimmer of frustration mixed with determination. She felt it, too.
I realized that Flame Aura only deals retaliation damage on successful non-crit attacks. I added 8 back to my HP to correct from my last hit (I then lost 8 HP this round from normal hitting)
                  "Watch her movements, see if there's a pattern or style that can be countered or exploited..." Vigilon thought. There was never reward without risk, nor consequence without action. Sometimes a little hit is all it takes. Vigilon braced himself as Telrenya managed to get in too close to dodge, but he dared not close his eyes. His eyes lit up as he managed to spot it. "Now!" He thought. An immediate swing after her attack finished in order to disorient her and create an opening, then Kyrkuran's flames would blaze to life as he readied a sword art in this moment. The crowd's voices roared as the battle began moving towards a climax.
           With his opponent wide open, there was little stopping him from landing a blazing chain of swings against his opponent. He then got in close and wrapped his sword arm around Telrenya's shoulder to pull her in closer, and with his free hand, he'd pull out a Noble Vampire Knife of his own and stick it into his opponent's back.
"Looks like the mirror wasn't the only item we both thought of. Sorry, but I'll be taking back what you pulled out of me." He softly remarked into Telrenya's ear with a smirk. The smirk then grew into a grin. "Besides, I can't guarantee an involuntary blood transfusion from me would be good for your system." He quipped. Neither of the two combatants knew each others' blood types, but it didn't stop Vigilon from cracking that one before releasing her from his grip as the knife shattered.
Another deafening clang of metal rang out as Vigilon’s counterattack batted away her rapier. Her arm swung up with it, refusing to let the weapon slip from her hands, but the momentum left her vulnerable. Wide open. She winced hard as his attack was just as intense as the first: another critical hit that left her with twin status effects.
She could have stuck it out through the art, but her opponent drove the point home by sinking a knife into her back. ”Great minds…think alike.” She tried to quip back, but her voice was strained. The buzzing in the back of her head was distracting and uncomfortable, only letting up once the dagger disappeared, leaving only the red gash on her back as a memento. Telrenya let out a pained chuckle as she was finally free to spin around and brace herself for whatever came next.
In that moment, that smallest of windows, she had a choice. The lingering damage from his attack shot through her in a wave that she knew would come again, biting away at her health. Her left hand drifted towards her chest. She could clear them away, and save herself the next tick of damage. Would that be worth the energy? If he landed another hit on her because she’d backed off to triage, would that leave her worse off? She couldn’t guess that kind of math in her head that quickly.
No, she had momentum. If she stopped now, she’d lose that opportunity. In a snap decision, Telrenya wordlessly lunged forward again just as soon as she’d regained her footing. She only barely caught him. With his empowered defenses, it felt like each attack was little more than glancing blows, especially compared to the weight of Vigilon’s devastating strikes. For every single art he landed on her, she needed three to break even.
But she wouldn’t give up. Not now. Not again.
                                   It would be nice to have kept up momentum, but with Telrenya making use of her own momentum in the fight, Vigilon's ended up disoriented...and he wouldn't notice until the charge he readied and timed after Telrenya's hit would simply zoom past her as she dodged with ease, leaving him to crash into the wall.
      Vigilon slowly peeled himself off of the indent in the arena wall he'd accidentally made, nearly stumbling and fumbling as he tried to get himself set up straight. "This...isn't over yet..." He assured. Both players were inching closer and closer to the red as the fight dragged on. It truly was an even match thus far, but who would claim the victory in the end? Truly, the climax had arrived, and both players' HP were in the yellow. It was only a matter of time before one of the two players will inevitably fail to remain standing up at this rate.
                      And Vigilon had every intention to avoid it being him who falls.
Telrenya twisted her body, dodging to the side with a spin to avoid Vigilon’s burst of speed just in time. She only wished she could have remained as graceful. The force of her opponent shooting past her, stabbing through the air where her body had just been, and the panicked speed at which she dodged left her off balance, and she tumbled to the ground at the same time Vigilon’s attack found the arena wall. She let out a pained grunt as the last of the burning, noxious damage worked its way through her system and she was allowed the relief of a clear status bar again.
She panted, propping herself up and getting to her hands and knees. ”No…it’s not…” She agreed. Her grip tightened around the handle of her rapier and her brain urged her body to keep moving. She couldn’t afford to rest. Sitting there in the middle of the arena was like leaving a target on her back, and yet she could hardly will herself to stand up. Going in for another attack would drive her into the ground, she could feel it.
So, with heavy breaths, her open left palm planted itself against her chest. A bright yellow glow enveloped her hand and ran a shimmering light over her avatar, quickly reducing with a faint pulse. If she couldn’t dig up a second wind out of her own lungs, she would force Cardinal to give it to her.
                        Just as the hype for the climax arrived, it would become silent tension once more. "I've got one shot of my momentum left in me..." He thought.
        But alas, Vigilon lacked the energy needed for the focus that could have nearly won him the battle, and his attack missed by half an inch.
                                       The onslaught had left both combatants run ragged, both Vigilon and Telrenya were left with little choice but to catch their breath and recover energy in hopes that they would be able to go back to clashing, or more specifically, attempting a winning attack. Until Vigilon could recover enough energy, he knew he was going to need to stay on the defensive for now. He didn't exactly have any other choice here, he'd already lost his momentum, there was nothing he could do about it now...
            Was this really going to be Vigilon's fate for this battle? Stuck having to chase a fast target all over the arena and only hit at times where it might as well be divine critical intervention? "Man, a weapon like Krysta's could have done a lot here..." He thought as he recalled how Krysta's weapon dealt devastating Holy Damage on critical hits, outright smiting her opponents. "If those in control of the floor had the ability to double our HP, why didn't they bother doubling our Energy as well? We kinda need that for like, everything."
      Deep breaths, that was all he could manage now. Deep breaths and a blade raised to deflect anything if something went wrong.
