Minako 0 Posted March 9 #1 Share Posted March 9 Minako rubbed her head, still feeling the awful aftereffects of floor 29. Last weeks games were a messy blur, and she couldn't remember much other than who won which bout. Regardless, she had her partner to thank for keeping her in check, and to help with the strange after-effects. Kindling was growing to be more and more of a prominent part of her life, and one she was thankful to have. She couldn't have asked for a better showmen, nor partner. She smiled as she tried on her simple gown. It was cinched at the waist by a beautiful bet of gold. Decorated with golden finery, it stood brightly out against the gold and red sash she worse draped over her shoulders. The entire ensemble commanded strength, resolve, and respect. Truly, a noble among the NPC rabble that dashed along to make sure that the 'games' were running smoothly. The arena itself was simple, very much like the first week. A small clearing, free of grass, stone, and roots. It's long oblong shape gave people plenty of room to move around. Stands surrounded the arena, letting NPC's and PC's find decent seating to get a decent angle on the coming fights. At the far end, was a pedestal where Minako and Kindling were to be. Flanked by guards, and decorated by columns the pair stood almost as tall as royalty. "Ladies, and gentlemen of the land! We gather here today for a monumentous occasion. The Clash of Blades has grown to quite the showing, and stretching from the humble Town of Beginnings to now at the base of Olympia. When Kindling and I started this event, we had no idea it would evolve into something of this grand, and for that we thank you, the participants, and the gods themselves!" As she spoke, lightning rang from the heavens striking a nearby brazier. It alit in a sea of dancing flame that tossed and turned in the slight breeze. "And it would seem that indeed we do have the blessing of the gods! Who knows what this may bring?" She shouted, meeting the cheers with a large smile. "A man who has been feeling the burn lately! It's the support healer of Aincrad! It's Hirru!" The crowd cheered. People wore green wigs, or even dyed their hair in show of support. "And over in this corner we have the man who is hungry for the win! It's, Kiyabu!" Minako shouted. Kiaybus fans, mostly women, swooned and cheered for him. Presenting banners of his likeness, alongside flags waved in support. As the fighters entered the arena, they would notice that they're HP totals would double, the green bar extending slightly and filling up. "Now then fighters-" Minako said, raising a hand. The crowd began to go wild, with cheering, stomping, clapping, hollering, and making noise. Minako dropped her hand, signaling the start of the match. "Clash!" ~~~Σ~~~Ω~~~θ~~~ Welcome to the Fifth week of Clash of Blades - Heroes of Olympia! This week's thematic is fairly simple; The Event Shop has some Greek-Myth inspired armaments and items, and whatever your HP is after calculations - Double it. There has been several changes from last week, so please be sure to have the Informational at the ready! Another soft reminder to NOT use outside items. Please use only the items purchased in the Event Shop. Spoiler Please remember to LINK your Spreadsheet, and triple check that your stats are correct. Failure to do so before the actual combat begins will result in a loss by default. Going forward, we will be taking a much more hardline stance on this rule. The reason for that is out of respect for the time and energy of the hosts, and your fellow participants. TECH-A is disbaled this week, and cannot be used. Kiyabu Hisao 0 Posted March 12 #2 Share Posted March 12 (edited) After recovering from the adverse effects of his challenging time on Floor 29, Kiyabu felt a renewed sense of purpose and creativity coursing through him. He prepared himself for a grand and honorable display of his artistic talent, choosing to showcase his skills in the field of tailoring. It was a craft that demanded precision and imagination, and Kiyabu had poured both into the creation of his own silk fabric tunic. The tunic was a testament to his craftsmanship, a garment that spoke of elegance and dedication. Its design was a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation: a light blue sash draped gracefully from his left shoulder to his waist, complemented by purplish accented trims that caught the light with each movement. The colors and textures wove together to create a visual symphony, one that symbolized both his personal journey and his reverence for the arts. As Kiyabu made his way toward the center of the arena, his heart swelled with anticipation and solemnity. He approached the grand temple of Olympia with reverence, the majestic structure standing as a testament to the divine and the mortal realms meeting. It was here that he would make his pledge, a vow of honor and respect. Kneeling before the temple, Kiyabu faced the edifice with a sense of gravity and purpose. "In the honor of her Goddess of Wisdom and Arts." He began, his voice carrying the weight of his sincerity. "I pledge to Athena that I'll do my best to not besmirch her name... In this duel of mortals." The words were a formal declaration, a promise to uphold the virtues of wisdom, creativity, and integrity in the contest that lay ahead. With the pledge made, Kiyabu slowly began to stand upright, a transformation taking place in tandem with his rising form. The tunic that had served as a symbol of his artistic prowess gradually morphed into his normal combat gear, a seamless transition from art to battle. The change was symbolic, a reminder that creativity and combat were not mutually exclusive but rather two sides of the same coin. As he turned to face the other side of the arena, where his opponent would soon emerge, Kiyabu felt a sense of readiness and calm. The duel that awaited was not just a test of strength and skill, but also an opportunity to honor the traditions and values he held dear. His gaze was steady, his resolve firm, as he prepared to engage in the contest with all the honor and respect befitting a warrior under the watchful eyes of the gods. The arena was alive with anticipation, the air charged with the collective breath of spectators and participants alike. In this sacred space, where mortals dared to challenge their limits, Kiyabu stood as a testament to the enduring power of creativity, courage, and the timeless pursuit of excellence. Hirru 0 Posted March 15 #3 Share Posted March 15 (edited) Going from the 29th floor and having a colossal unknown entity follow your every movement; cursing you and everything you are, to having multiple unknown entities that can also curse you and everything you are. Where was this tournament going and why was he even doing this anymore? He got much more information than he really needed to have, but that just meant that there would be more to it. There would be more fights against players that he had known for quite some time, and finally get to see the small quirks that make up their being. Though, when he heard whom he was fighting, the hunter was quite puzzled. He did not know who this was. Most of the players that had joined the tournament were definitely front line material, or had actually fought on the front before. Walking out into the new arena for this floor, the hunter would look on to opponent and wonder: 'where did you come from, and what is your story?' Quite rude in thought, but who could blame the guy. After staying around the front for so long, one can sometimes forget the thousands that still try to survive on the lower floors. Something that he keeps in his stories, but is humbled when he is reminded that he too was once roaming only the lower floors, as he could not survive the higher tiered floors. Though, now he no longer roams, and only accompanies those that need the guidance or support. It had been a long time since he was able to truly call himself a 'hunter'. So, to see this man here was just as humbling. There was a future front liner here in the making, or so he would see. Hirru did not don the paladin armor this time around, and instead was clothed just in the black turtleneck that he wore casually. Though, his armor today was just a rather heavy gauntlet. Not the heaviest of armor, but it counted towards his armor skill, even if it held no significant value to him. In his other hand, he held a different blade than before. A blade set that had been following him for a time. The story of a lone knight that had been betrayed, but found to have also betrayed themselves. A story that he felt akin to. Leaving his shield on his back, the hunter held the two handed sword straight forward, and at the ready. A glint of silver would glitter upon his red headband. "Boons from the gods will only get you so far." The green haired hunter would call out to his opponent as he willed himself to see just how far he could go. "Though, I guess one of luck will be with us both today." Kiyabu Hisao 0 Posted March 21 #4 Share Posted March 21 (edited) “You're entirely not wrong about these boons gifted to us from the gods on high.” Kiyabu acknowledged, his voice resonating with a blend of respect and determination. The gifts of the divine, whether manifested as strength, speed, or insight, were powerful tools in the hands of those who knew how to wield them. “But I'm going to put them to good use in our duel.” With these words, he pointed his trusted dagger towards his opponent, an extension of his will and intent. The gesture was followed by a theatrical bow, a nod to the chivalry and honor that underscored their combat. “As for Lady Luck.” He continued, his eyes meeting those of his opponent with a spark of camaraderie. “She'll bless us both with the boon of Fortune's Favor.” His declaration was both a promise and a challenge, a shared understanding that luck would play its part, but skill and strategy would ultimately determine the outcome. The mention of Lady Luck was a nod to the unpredictability of their clash, where the scales could tip in any direction at a moment's notice. After the initial discussion and banter, the atmosphere shifted, charged with the electric anticipation of battle. Kiyabu took the initiative, his instincts honed by countless encounters. With a swift motion, he lunged towards Hirru, his movements fluid and precise. He zigzagged across the arena, his path a blur of motion that confounded and disoriented, a testament to his agility and control. The dagger in his hand glowed with a vibrant energy, a sign of the Sword Art he had activated. The hum of its power resonated in the air, a promise of the force it could unleash. As Kiyabu closed the distance between himself and Hirru, his focus narrowed to a single point, his mind calculating and recalibrating with every step. He aimed to land a few strikes in the less armored spots on his opponent, seeking to exploit any vulnerabilities with precision and speed. Each strike was a calculated gamble, a dance of offense and defense where timing was everything. The Sword Art imbued his strikes with enhanced power and accuracy, a boon that he wielded with mastery. In the heat of the moment, Kiyabu's world contracted to the here and now, the sounds of the arena fading into a distant echo. His senses were attuned to the rhythm of the duel, the ebb and flow of combat that demanded every ounce of his concentration. The thrill of the fight surged through him, a reminder of why he fought and what he stood to gain. Even as the duel unfolded, Kiyabu remained aware of the delicate balance between fortune and skill. He knew that Lady Luck's favor was a fleeting thing, a whisper on the wind that could vanish as quickly as it arrived. But with each move, each calculated risk, he embraced the uncertainty, confident in his ability to adapt and overcome. In the arena, amidst the clash of steel and the pulse of adrenaline, Kiyabu fought not just for victory, but for the honor of the contest and the respect of his opponent. It was a testament to the spirit of the warrior, a celebration of the art of combat in all its complexity and beauty. With every strike and parry, Kiyabu etched his story into the tapestry of their duel, determined to emerge triumphant. Hirru 0 Posted Monday at 02:17 AM #5 Share Posted Monday at 02:17 AM (edited) The fight would start in neither of their favors, it would seem. Though his opponent would have the agility, Hirru would not let him find the right openings for his dagger to trace that art out to. The system would be there to help the players to bring out their potentials, and help them fight the ever improving artificial intelligence that their enemies. Though, when it came to the balance of two players that knew well of the system and how to work around the different opportunities that were given; one could see how much more different people were. People can react quickly, if they know what to expect. If they don't, then the system will make it impossible to miss. "If that is so, let's see for whom this first coin will bless. I call Heads." With the point of his sword keeping horizontally pointed towards his opponent, the hunter would flip out a coin from underneath the gauntlet. Flipping and glinting in the air, the hunter would take that moment to get into art position. Though, it had been some time since he had used a sword art from the straight sword line, and couldn't find the right footing before shifting a little. The art would start and stop as if the hunter had intentionally failed it. It would be to his favor, as the ability of the heavy gauntlet would bolster the damage through each miss. Gaining momentum as he missed, while gambling on the coins for more stacks. As he did so, the coin would land on the ground, announcing to all that Hirru had called wrong. The coin would disperse as the light would flow into his opponent's dagger. "Well, that's a bummer, but let's see how the next one will go." Readying the next coin as he kept his sword pointed and his shield on his back. Although, not as turtling as his previous encounters, he was trying to cover many bases with this set up. Though, there would be some more testing, as he had never had to use this stratagem before. Kiyabu Hisao 0 Posted 44 minutes ago #6 Share Posted 44 minutes ago After fumbling his initial attempt to take the lead in this duel, Kiyabu quickly regained his composure, his eyes locking onto Hirru, who was now pointing the tip of their sword in his direction. The gesture was both a challenge and a declaration of intent, but what truly caught Kiyabu’s attention was the familiar glint of metal in Hirru’s grasp. “Hm?” he uttered, a sound of intrigue rather than surprise. As he focused on the object, Kiyabu recognized it immediately—a set of coins strikingly similar, if not identical, to those wielded by Wulfrin during their match on Floor 5. The memory of that encounter brought a wry smile to his face. “I see.” Kiyabu mused aloud. “It seems you've bought those coins as well. They do pack a mean punch if you can guess correctly.” His voice carried a hearty chuckle, the sound rich with the recollection of his own game of chance with Wulfrin. It had been a match marked by unpredictability and excitement, where luck danced hand in hand with skill. The sight of the coins introduced a new dynamic into their duel, one that promised to test not just their martial prowess but their strategic acumen as well. Kiyabu respected the ingenuity behind Hirru’s choice, recognizing the potential for both risk and reward. It was a gamble, one that could shift the balance of power with a single flip. “Since you want to flip those coins, I'll be patient enough to wait until... all of them have been flipped.” Kiyabu declared, his decision underscored by a sense of honor. He understood the importance of strategy and was willing to hold off on attacking, allowing Hirru to test out their new approach. It was a gesture of respect between combatants, an acknowledgment of the tactical maneuvering that underpinned their duel. His curiosity piqued, Kiyabu couldn’t resist inquiring further. “Out of curiosity, how many of those coins do you have?” He asked, his tone light and genuinely interested. The question was more than just idle chatter; it was a probe into the resources and strategies Hirru might deploy. As he awaited Hirru’s response, Kiyabu remained alert, his senses attuned to the flow of the battle. The anticipation was palpable, the air thick with the promise of action and the unknown outcomes the coins might bring. In this momentary lull, Kiyabu reflected on the nature of their contest, where skill and chance were woven into the fabric of their confrontation.
