Samael 0 Posted April 2 #1 Share Posted April 2 (edited) Profile: Username: Samael Real name: Souma Takeba Age: 24 Gender: Male Height: 6’3” Background: Souma had an upbringing most people might call boring. Plain house, plain school, plain friends. What was not plain was his obsession with martial arts from a young age. This obsession likely stemmed from his father, who had also been obsessed with martial arts from a young age, and started training Souma in Kendo in grade school. Souma had trouble making friends however, not many people wanted to join him in his imaginary battles against over one thousand ghosts. Souma however, didn’t care, as he would continue to play and practice, he would also train. Souma did eventually make one really close friend, a friend who would join him on the battlefield in his mind. And when they stopped picking fights in their imagination, they began picking fights with kids in school. A regular pair of delinquents, but Souma was always more interested in protecting his friend than actually settling a dispute, they just so happened to both require punching the same people. Eventually, both of those boys grew up to be men. They stopped fighting so much, they got jobs, and they tried to make time for eachother, but they sort of grew apart. However, one day, Souma gets a text about a new game. His friend had gone and bought them both copies and they were going to try it out. That’s when it happened. After finding out they were trapped in a death game, Souma wanted to get right to work, but his best friend since childhood had frozen in his tracks, the fear of actually dying had paralyzed him. Screams rang out, people were crying and pushing each other to the floor trying to escape that colosseum. All Souma could do was grab his friend and drag him away. They hid in inns and taverns, wasting what little money they had trying to get by. You see, Souma’s friend was more interested in lucking out, maybe the frontlines will clear the game, maybe they’ll get us out. As the days went on, and it felt like years to the White haired giant, his best friend wound up hearing about this safe place for those just trying to survive, too scared to fight. A sanctuary. It didn’t take long for Souma to see this cult for what it is, but he couldn’t just let his best friend go through this alone. Months disappeared trying to convince his friend of the truth, and when the leader had started talking like they were going to end in this game, Souma lost his patience. He began trying to drag his friend away, but his best friend met him with a sword. A wild slash took off Samuel’s arm, and the white haired man had realized. It was too late, his friend was lost. Souma himself had disappeared, no trace left behind, but one day a woman approached him with a sword, one that the man recognized. It was his best friend’s sword, he had killed himself to fulfill the cult’s mission. This woman would leave her name, and Souma would swear to himself that he would beat this game. Virtues Stoic- Samael is not easily phased, words and actions rarely get a reaction from the man. From years of fighting, Souma has learned that showing pain is a weakness that can be exploited. He is only vulnerable with those he truly trusts. Protective- There is not much you can do to prevent Souma from protecting those he cares about. This is a man who would walk through hell doused in gasoline to keep his friends safe. If they do get hurt, he will avenge them instead. Truthful- Souma hates lying, and the reasons are two fold. First, he doesn’t like that a lie can make a fool of him, and doesn’t wish to do that to others. Also, he believes an ugly truth is much better than a beautiful lie. Flaws Stubborn- Souma is very set in his ways, when he makes up his mind, he cannot be easily swayed. If he says the sky is red, as far as he is concerned, the sky is red. He says what he thinks and he will stick with it until he’s blue in the face. Disconnected- Souma has trouble caring about new things. Due to his stoic nature, he cannot be easily convinced to react to something new. People and situations tend to be less noteworthy to him unless he puts stock in it, and if he doesn’t his stubbornness won’t let him change so easily, so others may find it hard to connect to someone who won’t even seem like he cares. Overprotective- Once Souma has decided he cares about someone, he will be fiercely protective of said person. The slightest hint of aggression towards that person can easily spark Souma into action, and given his past of fighting to solve problems, that action is usually violence. He had a “punch first, ask questions later” mindset when it comes to conflict involving those he cares about. Brazen- Souma will rush headlong into danger with little care for his own safety, often being told he has a death wish. He has resigned himself to being a shield for those he cares about, even if he isn’t strong enough to do so. With no regard for his own weakness or life, Souma will act.
