[F29-PP] Finally paying the Piper <<On the House>>

Waiting at the Docks | 243573, LD: 16 -> The brigantine does not dock, and instead tears through the dock, before beaching itself.

The dimly lit bog of a town, the brand new floor was a reflection of another much lower. Bits of debris float harmlessly in stagnant water, offering a bit of earthiness to the mildew funk. A small barge toward the far end of town, the other players would ride. Setsuna hops from roof to roof in the manner to which she was accustomed. Scouring the local, trying to get a sense of what new dangers could be lingering just out of sight. The town was empty, not a soul in sight. Various boats sat tied to structures, as decayed docks mirrored some in disrepair. A lantern or two still lit, offering the only real source of light across its dramatic expanse. A crash to which Setsuna can only catch but a glimpse of, a boat just careens through a nearby building right through the door of some building. A glance to the swordsman in red, and toward the cat and the singer. A pair of fingers to her eyes, and a point to the direction before she'd lunge further.

A pair of burning orange eyes, studied through time held fast to their environment. A studious guide in ripe new horizons, he'd play to his strengths with a small book and pen. A crash in the distance has him seek his companion from the roof, offering her a nod as she'd jump out of sight. "Setsuna is on the move, it came from the left." The swordsman offers as he'd begin to paddle their vessel deeper into the bogtown. Adrift they'd find a patch of ground dry enough to stand upon, and inside not a soul in sight even still. "Empty..." The nomad would glean, beginning to move chairs and cups. Notably the dust being clear, leaving an impression where the mug is lifted. Whatever was inside had long dried up. Down to a ledger, his eyes advance and begin to pour over its contents. A receipt? Curious still, his mind cannot help but skip a beat as he'd stare it down. They were supposed to be following the O&I agent. But for some reason they felt like entering here.

Pulling the strands of her hair apart to shove her pony tighter together, Simmone's heels click upon the wood. It is disheartening, the way it creeks makes her feel as though it is on the brink of giving way. Yet even still, she keeps pace with the others. Shortly into the door after the wanderer. Her nose would scrunch up. "This place reeks." as the potent fragrance of rot and dried something assault her nose. Couple that with the wet murk from outside and it was a world of bad flavors. A twist of her frame as she'd use both hands to raise a panel of wood and help herself behind the bar. The woman runs an outstretched finger down the length of it, finding an obvious line as she drags. "But for how long? Must be a century." Simmone remarks to her companion, before rubbing off the dust on her right hip.

*Thump Thump Thump* Like a bull in a china shop, the girl was extremely subtle. Plate armor on crappy wooden duct taped together docks wasn't exactly going to give her any amount of secrecy. "Kinda lame." She'd quip in a dismissive twist of her tone, given out here there wasn't much to do. No NPC's to bother, it was like legit going to a birthday by yourself. Floors in the past had something to interact with, yet in this hodunk there wasn't and Shiina was instinctually bored being the social butterfly she was. Outside the door, she picks up a sheet of wood, a bit of chain still dangling off of it that rattles on the wind. "H.P.'s Tavern? The heck. Who is H.P? This place is a dump." She'd pivot and yeet that thing out like the most obtuse frisbee. "Finish playing with your papers or whatever book boi, this place sucks eggs."

Unloading the Cargo | 243574, LD:10 -> You find a barrel of wine that is leaking profusely. Its flow seems never ending. It tastes a bit flat. 

Upon the galleon that had run aground, now perched precariously inside a unfortunate building Setsuna slides. A quest prompt appears, sending a fuzz across her screen. <<Escort the booze us...>> It cuts away in a distorted mess but provides the necessary markers. Some even conveying that they lingered beneath her very feet. "Fine" Setsuna spat in a cutting whisper, hovering her hand over her weapon's hilt as she'd pierce into the darkness. Her eyes light up in an obvious cyan blue glow, as her skill allows her to see within this dark interior. A chunk of building poking through the starboard side, cutting through some of the shelving and sending a sizeable sum of wine parading through the breach. The girl would lean and taste but a drop. "Wine, a trade ship." the investigation concludes with her casting frozen hide and placing her hand to the exterior of the barrel. Seeing the contents begin to freeze solid and prevent its never-ending dribble.

Unloading the Cargo | 243575, LD: 2 -> You find one person on the ship, if you can call them that. An undead, fish-person with eerily long arms. They clutch a broom in their hands and they slowly sweep the deck, specifically behind you (the roller) as you explore the ship.

Going through the stack of documents, the nomad sets his gaze upon a manifest. Confirming the establishments dealings while also causing a corrupted quest to insert itself into his vision. "H.P. given the context. Is Howard Phillips. The author of countless eldritch oriented novels." He'd set down the paper and accept the prompt, causing it to scatter to the rest of his party. "Looks like if we want to know more, we should complete this." That ever inquisitive mind found its inclusion intriguing. Just outside, a pull carriage with no horses stood idly and its pointer lead clearly to the wreck from earlier. It doesn't take long before the three manage to get it parked outside. 

A rope and a few close calls find them aboard, using a gangplank as leverage. Raidou's sonar like detection picks up movement, and he breaks from the group. A living soul could provide some answers. Yet what he finds, cannot hold a conversation. Instead it provides nothing more then gurgles and a judging exchange of glances.

Helping Raidou with the cart, the quest would appear at first glance to be no different then most. The sheer amount of delivery quests they'd undertaken confirmed it, despite their differing surroundings. Out of all, these usually were the easiest and Simmone welcomed the simplicity. Third up, she would ensure that Shiina didn't wander into who knows where and find herself into a much deeper mess. A click of her heels on off kilter ground is met with an equally off kilter sound. Murmurs and whispers which causes her to look to her companions. "Do you hear that?" As Raidou would wander onward to his own devices. The chittering would goad her to dive overboard, while others would invite her to hang herself on the mast. Not exactly the most welcoming invitations, and the only thing it manages to stir is her irritation. "You really don't hear that?" She'd look to Shiina who would offer only a shrug. "Let's get this over with, I'm done with ghosts being ANNOYING~." making full well a point to draw attention to the most important word.

Unloading the Cargo | 243577, LD: 5 -> You see a small creature about the size of a rat, but some otherworldly monstrosity you could never even imagine. It shrieks and runs away into the shadows. 

"Wha?" Shiina perks her head to the side, becoming silent trying her best to hear what her companion was trying to point out. "I dun hear anything? Girl you getting hearing problems already?" Shiina quips as she'd wander deeper into the bow of the ship. Managing to only find Setsuna down in the bottom. "Where'd book boi... Bro found a library on here or something didn't he. Guess girls got to..." Midsentence, some black unmentionable leaps from a bag and screeches at Shiina. It appeared to resemble an angry land squid, a deep blue shade like it was real cold. "Heh Squidscicle." The girl chuckled as her weasel leaped from her armor and performed the most elegant leap of faith from her shoulder. Sensing food, Sprinkles was out for the kill. What follows is a cacophony of hissing and screeching. "Get um Sprinkles!" The girl squeals, causing Setsuna to offer a finger to her lips and give her the most buzz killing glare ever.

Muffled, Shiina murmurs "Wmmmf?"

Travel Back | 243578, LD: 18 -> One of the wheels pops off the wagon. As you rush to fix it, you hear the sound of something giggling and scampering towards you. You never see what it is as you get back on the road.

Removing her hand, the more wild amongst them really had a way of drawing attention to them. Setsuna sighs in irritation and passes a smaller crate to Shiina, before gesturing aggressively "Move it, we don't have all day." Down to the pile, she peels up one of her own and moves up toward the deck of the ship. Atop it, one of her other companions were being equally as useless. "There are more, do I have to do everything... Where is?" watching as a fish monster wanders past with a broom with Raidou clearly on its heels. Setsuna instinctually moves out of the way and offers her foot out. Tripping the creature it careens off the side of the ship.

A brush of her hair, she slinks a grapple to the mast and winds it around the crate. A pseudo pulley system she lowers the first and Shiina's into the cart. A wheel breaks off from the weight. "Oh for fucks..." The Frigid end catches the brief glance of a shadow rushing away from the wagon. "That's it!" A perfectly good subject to vent her frustration, she bounds from the ship at breakneck speed leaving the thin metal wire behind. The repeated clapping of her tabi hitting wood board, her blade draws as she bounds the corner. But what she finds is nothing more then a disembodied laugh. "Coward..." she spat, choosing not to give chase otherwise nothing would get done.

Travel Back | 243579, LD: 2 -> You pass a scarecrow that moves every time you take your eyes off of it. It disappears as you enter the bar.

With his follower capsized, Raidou peers over the side. It was gone, what's worse is he never heard it hit the ground. Setsuna was starting to get on edge, and the other two where having issues with direction. "Best get this over with." he remarks as he heads deeper in the boat to grab another. Another rustle sees him expect another fish friend, yet this one was some sort of straw man construct. His eyes dart toward the movement, and it halts immediately. Back to the crate and the sound continues. His night vision triggers and he can clearly see a scarecrow, stiff as a board. Odd... he thought, keeping his eyes on it he'd gather the box. Backing up the stairs, it never moves.

He turns and shuts the door, and inside the sounds of raking and scratching confirm it. It's alive and yet does not ping as a hostile. More dangerous as it was. "Last one out." The swordsman and Shiina start to lower the last, as Simmone mends the wheel back onto the cart.

Travel Back | 243580, LD: 14 -> Only you hear a murder of crows cawing your name over and over from the trees above. You swear one calls you by your real world name. But there are no crows. Or anything, as far as you can see.

The wheel in place, Simmone starts to push it along with Raidou being one of the bigger party members. She wasn't exactly the strongest among the guild yet it was about akin to pushing a shopping cart. The wagon was doing most of the work. "Not much going on, I'd expected ghost pirates or something by now." Admitting to Raidou on her left, given that was the general run of things in this game. A squawk of a bird catches her ear, which she ignores at first until it dawns on her.

"Simmone?"

Her head turns to address its direction, finding a bird perched upon the roof tile. A silent glare sported on her face, it inhales looking down at her with its beady little black eyes.

"SIMMONE"

Again, clear as day the bird calls her by name. She exhales sharply and remarks her feelings to the others. "I hate it here."

Travel Back | 243581, LD: 5 -> The storm becomes severe and downs a tree in the road before you.

Shiina perks up and notices the crow screeching as well, yet to her its nothing more then squawking. "Agreed, its boring and WERE THE ONLY FUCKERS OUT HERE!" Raising the volume of her voice to overshadow the bird, which in turn sends a spiral of lightning through the sky above. A heavy downpour starts within seconds sending her straight into wet rat mode. Knotted hair shrinks against her face like a spiderweb. A tree lands on the dock right in their path. "Yep, that tracks. No wonder everyone moved out. This place legit blows." The pots and pans knight moves to one side of it, leaning down with both arms she starts to strain.

Nope, wont budge. "Bruh..." The girl lets out a disapproval, turning to push her back into the thing. "Fatass, move tree-san. Raidou, quick pull out a bomb or something. You got everything... Fix it!" A pleading look of let it end plastered on her face.

A Drink on The House | 243582, CD: 10 -> Whiskey

HiccupS.pngUnsheathing her blade in a quick ripping slash sees the trunk of the tree shatter like glass. The first thing she could hit and finally vent some of those pent up frustrations. "Wish fulfilled." The girl remarks in a cold tone, her hair glossed in its pale silver wetness. Weather wasn't anywhere near as drastic as the other two girls were acting it was. The final leg of their journey finds them back into the tavern, her first visit to the place. "This is where the quest ends?" she'd look to Raidou for a silent nod. Three crates offered to the back, leaving Shiina to pout in a corner. Once delivered, she'd quip to the others. "Now what?" checking the quest details, it was nothing more then technical garbage. Indecipherable and messy.

However the quest objective had easily moved its tracker, and where it would land? The countertop, upon which four cups had suddenly appeared. "Poison?" Setsuna asks indirectly, eying the one with her pointer hovering on it. A whiff causes her to scrunch her nose. "If it was, then it wouldn't be a quest target. Suppose we are supposed to drink it." The girl as headstrong as always downs the whole glass in a quick urge of duty. A warm color starts to take hold of her face, adding pink to a place that's normally dead white. Her stomach churns and she fights concretely the urge to cough. "Its bitter." shortly later she hiccups abruptly, catching her by surprise. "I may be poisoned, my head is spinning."

A Drink on The House | 243583, CD: 11 -> Cinnamon Vodka

NoHiccupR.pngThe man looks down at the counter, perplexed by the sudden inclusion. Setsuna was already downing it with her own stoic yet brash acknowledgement of how the game couldn't possibly harm her during a quests objectives. The reasoning was sound yet the quest was clearly off the beaten regular. Fingers clasp a small shot glass. Clearly alcohol, he'd down the thing in one fell swoop. A hint of cinnamon, and he began to divide the composition mentally. "I see." It wasn't his choice, but it was functional and there wasn't any outlying notes of danger to the taste. Into his pocket he pops a white dote tablet into his mouth just in case.

Setsuna however was showing some strange signs. "You have a strange status." A perfect recount of the tiny new square to the left of her name in the party menu. "Yet you have not sustained any damage." Eyes lock to it. Targeting reveals <<LIGHT WEIGHT>> and that is when it clicks. "You aren't poisoned."

HiccupSim.pngA glass of wine stuck quite readily in spades upon the countertop. "After today, don't mind if I do." like the many she kept at the odyssey, Simmone well welcomed something she understood. Plucking it up by the stem she nursed the thing with a couple of swirls before it went down the hatch. The familiar taste, a decent aging and not too acidic. Nothing out of the ordinary... At first. But that telltale function of the stuff that she had long missed. The burning in her stomach that turned to butterflies, and her face flashed hot. "Oh, Oh my." She'd sit down on the stool, which creaked and threatened to snap in twain. "I've changed my vote, I think I love it here." Breathing deep to draw the friendly smell into her nose, she starts to nurse that cup like an old long lost friend had came to visit. "The voices, the birds, the labor and the crap shoot was all worth it. Its a dump but I think I'll buy it."

HiccupShi.pngAll the sudden everyone seemed to be in a whole lot of strange moods, Setsuna was scared and Raidou was doing the explaining like usual. Simmone however seemed all smiles. "What is it?" Shiina poked the side of the glass. "MAGIC JUICE!? ME NEXT!" Shiina did her stereotypical jump to conclusions and caution be damned she wanted in on the fun. Grabbing it in both hands like a bowl, she'd suck it down in an abrupt sucking noise. Some makes it down, some does not and instead oozes out of her mouth and nose like a leaky spigot. "Bleh, it tastes like old people smell." it settles for a few seconds before her face all the sudden felt on fire, and then mental fireworks.

"I CAN TASTE COLORS, MOAR. GIMME YOURS" Shiina starts to lick the counter like a total psycho. It was as if any inhibition the girl ever exhibited just puffed into smoke. Smacking her lips and trying to eat the cup, the songstress was fully embracing alcoholism like a 40 year old man.

Setsuna looked to Raidou with the most terrified expression "Is it worse? I accept anything you have to do to remove it. Should I lie down?" The girl starts to get the notion to shove her finger in her mouth to gag herself. Raidou uses an open hand as a barricade. "I appreciate your tutelage. Your patience. All of you, thank you for joining at my final moments." Setsuna starts to lie on the floor, patiently expecting to reduced to ash in the coming moments. It takes some serious effort to get the girl off the floor and moreover the only sober member dictates that she probably shouldn't be jumping around from rooftop to rooftop like usual. "I understand, thank you for taking care of me." it was obtuse for sure, but the girl couldn't help but feel attached and weak to her companions in such a compromised state. Until this passed, she'd cling to the swordsman like glue.

Rainbows scattering through her brain, Shiina was climbing up the counter and starting to upheave the back shelves. Her intention? The glass bottles still dry as a bone in the desert. Each leave a distinct ring where the thing is plucked from, where the dust had no ability to reach. The shelves themselves begin to fall apart, as if the bottles on top were somehow carrying their weight. Like a fiend, they are cast backward by the girl and shatter against the table. One crashes out the window and rolls off into the water below. This lasts for only a few moments before a gloved hand snatches her by the collar and pulls her down. "MUST HAVE MO..." A rag is shoved into her mouth, before Raidou presses a finger to his lips.

"Quiet. Inside voice."

Shiina nods, as his face contorts and changes shapes. "Ok Giraffe, will I get more magic juice?" spoken through a muffled gag.

Her face finding itself numb with the tingle to which she could not fathom having once again. Arm outstretched it lends itself off the backside of the counter, as she leans her porcelain like skin using the thing like a pillow. The glass at her side purged completely of the red nectar that the bar had so graciously supplied. She was curbing the thought of a nap in this warm blanket of comfort, before a manacle is latched around her wrist. "I'm fine believe me, just go. I need a couple of minutes." Simmone brushes with an outstretched hand dismissively before she's yanked from the stool with a surprising amount of force. "What is so damn urgent!?" she barks with a sudden show of contempt. "Now is not the time, get Setsuna and lets go." A sigh escapes the woman's lips, and with it a response to the level headed fellow. "Your no fun. But what is new..." She'd look down to the plank on the floor. "Come dear, the buzz kill has no chill. Probably for the best, I got a cellar at home waiting for me."

With a gaggle of invalids that had been incapacitated by their inebriation, the inconceivably intelligible influence acts insistently. Into his pockets a pint-sized but powerful proxy would provide a parting portal to prepare the pack for transit. Grasping the glowing and glimmering gemstone, it is ground in his grip in a jarring galvanizing gleam.  In mere moments the myriad of mosaic lights manifest in a massive spectacle and mangle the air to move to magnificence. A flash of unfathmabable fair flutters into a festive flourish, freeing him and his friends from their fettering and foreboding fates. Seconds after they succeed, a soulful and shrill sounds of Coral assail the set of players, securing their escape.

A withering woman, a worried whippersnapper and a whimsical wackadoodle are wrapped in wrestling arms. A break of bothered boots begins to beat the best beaten bound to the brotherhood building. A harrowed and hurried hand helps the horde of happy hassles into the house and hounds them to heal the high headspace that had left them hammered.

....

Fuck is happening.
