Hi I was wondering whether one could use the effects of sword skills such as Serration wave or Lightning Fall since they were used in the canon and such.

As I understand it, sword skills seem to be mostly limited to just acting as flavor to a scene rather than having mechanical effects.

Indeed, at the current moment, any Sword Skill you use, is simply for "fluff" in your roleplays. The system used to be different, where we could use them to deal higher amounts of damage, but once we got +Damage modifiers they became far too overpowered. You may use any of these skills, just keep in mind of being realistic as well with using the skill. Obviously a level 1 can't use a really high leveled sword skill.

And also, if you want, right now we allow players the freedom of even creating their own as that was something that some people did in SAO.
