As Ourian backed away from the fairy, he noticed that she couldn't even stand up, though she tried with all her might as her arms fumbled for her daggers and her legs continued to betray her and cause her to collapse to the ground.

Crying, she stared at Ourian with a look of both hatred and longing. It was as if she was admitting defeat and was wishing that he would end it quickly for her.

Looking into the fairy's eyes, he understood right away that she wanted the pain to end.

 

"I understand... Please forgive me, but I have someone I need to protect... and I must become stronger to do so..." Ourian told her, raising his sword for a thrusting attack.

When she nodded, she closed her eyes and waited for him to deliver the killing blow. Ourian couldn't shake this feeling of guilt. Sure it was just a spawn, but it seemed that in this game even the monsters had feelings and life to them. It just felt so wrong... like he was murdering another player...

 

"I'm sorry..." He said, stepping forward and impaling the fairy in the chest. As he heard the sound of shattering glass, he felt a tear roll down his cheek. as he sheathed his sword, he found yet another Loot Sphere and picked it up. Now that the battle was over, the orbs activated and revealed his loot.

Those who have defeated a fairy in combat and have earned their respect are blessed with their wings. They do not grant the player flight, however.

 

"Wow... Now that's something else... To think that I actually earned their respect in battle. I won't let that respect go to waste." Ourian said aloud as he walked away from the battle site and began to walk back to town.

"I think that's enough excitement for one day... time to head on home." Ourian yawned, stretching his arms as he felt the pressure in his now healed ankle ease up. As he got closer to town, however, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched... Sure enough, he heard a rustling noise from the bushes behind him.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Ourian decides to go investigate the nearby brush for the source of the noise.

As he inspected the brush, Ourian jumped back to avoid being slashed in the face by another fairy. Only this one was male and was wearing stealthy clothing. Looking at its health indicator, Ourian discovered that it was a Fairy Assassin. Unsheathing his sword, he readied himself for combat once again

"Pretty sneaky!" Ourian stated, causing the fairy to smirk at him as it taunted him with a flick of its scimitar. Not taking their eyes off one another, they began to circle each other, both with their weapons at the ready. Suddenly, the fairy decided to rush Ourian, his scimitar readied for a horizontal slash. Smirking, Ourian waited in place for just the right moment. Once the fairy slashed at him, Ourian stepped back and prepared to spring forward.

His attack missing, the fairy loses his balance. Ourian, however, was more than ready to deal a massive blow as he crouched into a sprint-ready position, his sword arm crossing his body with sword in hand, his sword glowing.

 

"Step Sword!" Ourian shouted, springing forward and slashing horizontally at the fairy as he rushed right passed him, stopping about five feet behind the fairy with his sword arm outstretched. As he lowered his sword and turned around, the delayed slash effect of the sword art went off and brought the fairy to his knees.

Regaining his posture, the fairy rushes at Ourian. Expecting this, Ourian slashes at the fairy, but was shocked as the fairy's body disappeared as he cut it. 

 

"Damn it!" Ourian swore as he heard a snapping sound from behind him. Quickly turning around, he finds the fairy rushing at him from behind.

Just before the fairy attacked, however, Ourian jumped over the fairy to avoid the attack. Sneaky little bastard... He thought as he turned to face the fairy once again.

Once again, they stared each other down and circled one another. This time, however, Ourian takes the initiative and makes the first strike, only to have it blocked by the fairy's scimitar. However, Ourian's size and strength, combined with the momentum of the swing of his sword sent the fairy flying into a nearby tree upon impact, stunning him for a few seconds. Not wasting any time, Ourian rushes at the fairy.

Before the fairy could get away, Ourian slashes at the fairy in the chest, causing it to scream in pain as it was struck by another critical blow.

Recovering from the slash, the fairy pushes itself off the tree and aims an attack at Ourian's head, but Ourian instinctively swatted him away with a swing of his arm. Flipping on the ground to reduce the impact, the fairy attempts to slash at Ourian's leg.

Although the maneuver was successful, the fairy only managed to slash at the sheath of Ourian's longsword. Getting frustrated, the fairy glowered at Ourian as it jumped into the air and began to hover there, wings flapping like a hummingbird's.

As the fairy stared Ourian down, Ourian noticed that while it was in the air, the fairy seemed to be struggling. Eventually, he felt something brush against his arm. Looking down real quick, he noticed that it was his long hair. Then Ourian understood: The fairy's light body could be swept away by the wind. Rushing at the fairy, he trained a thrust at it. As the fairy moved to the right to avoid his attack, Ourian smirked as the sudden movement past the fairy caused a rush of wind to follow in his wake, causing the fairy to lose its balance for a second. taking advantage of this, Ourian spins around and attacks.

Striking the fairy in the back, it falls to the ground face-first. Slowly it attempted to recover.

Slowly rising to its feet, the fairy props itself up using its Scimitar as leverage. After catching its breath, the fairy rushes at Ourian again and attacks.

Expecting the attack, Ourian blocked it with his sword. Enraged, the fairy slashed repeatedly at Ourian's sword as if expecting the constant stream of attacks to somehow break it. Running out of steam, the fairy pushes itself back and awaits Ourian's next move.

AS soon as the fairy finished its attack, Ourian wasted no time and stepped forward, swinging his sword down to deliver a cleaving blow.

The fairy raised its scimitar in an attempt to protect itself against Ourian's attack, however the force of Ourian's swing was too great to block as the scimitar shattered. Without anything to block the attack, Ourian's blade manages to cut off one of the fairy's arms.

Struggling to its feet, the fairy grabs at its elbow right where Ourian cut its arm off. Determined to get at least one attack off on Ourian, the fairy grabs its broken scimitar and hurls it at Ourian.

As the weapon came close to Ourian, he brought his sword up to block it, but was caught unaware as the impact made it shatter. Closing his eyes to protect his sight, Ourian felt something stab him in the shoulder. Opening his eyes, he found what appeared to be a kunai knife poking out of his shoulder. Grabbing it, he yanked it out and tossed it aside.

As soon as the kunai was pulled free from his wound, the pain disappeared almost instantly as his Battle Healing skill took effect and healed him once again.

As the fairy fell to the ground after stabbing Ourian, its legs gave in, causing him to fall to the ground. Ourian, deciding that he had enough of this, took his sword in both hands, the blade pointing down at the fairy at his feet.

Recognizing defeat, the fairy just sat there as Ourian's blade stabbed it. Almost instantly, the fairy shattered into a million pieces. Not receiving any loot from it, Ourian decided to start walking towards the town and teleports home.
