Azureth 0 Posted November 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2014 Azureth, bored, decides to take a quest named "Earning a Living". The reward for the quest is the ability to perform a profession, which would prove to be a great advantage. However, the description of the quest was very non-descriptive. This was ironic for a description. Azureth had no idea what exactly he had to do, other than gather the items he'll need to become an alchemist. He decided to kill some boars in hope of finding an alchemy stand or gaining enough money to buy one. Soon, he is confronted by a single wild boar. -PermaRoller- ID: 2417 MD: 4 <Fail> BD: 5 <Success> Azureth dashes towards the boar, hoping to land a normal strike. The boar jumps to the right, avoiding the thrust. Azureth uses his spear as a club, swinging right. It hits the boar, dealing 2 damage. The boar is blown back, tumbling head over head. It gets back onto it's feet, growling with anger. Azureth digs his feet into the ground, preparing to take the next attack. Boar: 3/5 Azureth: 9/9 -PermaRoller- ID: 2418 MD: 1 <Critical Fail> BD: 7 <Success> The boar launches itself at Azureth, hoping to knock him down. Azureth puts his hands in front of him, and he catches the boar. He pushes on it, playing a reverse version of tug-of-war. Except in this version, the penalty for losing is being killed. He eventually shoves the boar aside, throwing it into a tree. The boar grunts, and stands back up. It has taken 1 damage. Boar: 2/5 Azureth: 9/

The boar just stands there, letting itself be pierced by the spear. The attack deals another 2 damage, killing the boar. It shatters into many glittering shards. Azureth huffs and puffs until he realizes you cannot get tired in Sword Art Online. All of that huffing and puffing for nothing. Azureth 0 Posted November 28, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted November 28, 2014 Azureth still felt like fighting, but boars were too easy for him. He decided to hunt some of the wasps that spawn in the field. However, finding a wasp was a harder task than he imagined. Azureth eventually found a wasp, but consumed both 1 bread and 1 water during the trip. After observing some of the wasp's movements, he charges into battle. -PermaRoller- ID: 2431 BD: 1 MD: 4 Azureth steps to the side and advances on the wasp. He attempts to use his spear as a hammer, but accidentally trips while running. "Ouch..." Azureth says, knowing nobody will hear him. He gets back up onto his feet, preparing for the next attack. The wasp seems to mainly dodge by moving up or down. Azureth notes this. Wasp: 10/10 Azureth: 12/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2583 BD: 7 MD: 4 The wasp turns around and aims its stinger at Azureth. He takes notice of this, but does nothing. This is because the stinger's trajectory is off. The wasp flies backwards at a fast speed, missing Azureth. Azureth observes that the wasp is not very intelligent - it missed it's own attack. Dodging this enemy shouldn't be a problem. Wasp: 10/10 Azureth: 12/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2584 BD: 7 MD: 6 Azureth jumps forward while sweeping his spear to the right in order to deal blunt damage. He misses, but the leap sent him right in front of the wasp. He jumps into the air and stabs it with a straight piercing attack. The wasp falls to the ground. It resumes hovering after a couple seconds. Azureth commends himself, as this attack was pretty flashy. Wasp: 8/10 Azureth: 12/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2585 BD: 2 MD: 6 The wasp flies above Azureth, so he positions his spear in a blocking postition. The wasp falls on Azureth, but the stinger passes his spear, dealing 2 damage. "Note to self - Don't try to block attacks using a spear." Azureth is knocked down, but regains his footing. He wished he had a shield. He always wishes he had a shield. Wasp: 8/10 Azureth: 10/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2586 BD: 1 MD: 4 Azureth dashes towards the wasp with his spear behind him. He will thrust forw- Azureth trips on a stone. Despite nobody being around, he is embarrassed by this. This reminds him of a recent slip-up he made while fighting another enemy with his friend named Tom. It seems he trips a lot. He should really be more careful of where he steps. Wasp: 8/10 Azureth: 9/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2592 BD: 5 MD: 2 The wasp circles around Azureth to his side. It then launches a strange substance through its stinger at him. He dodges the "attack". The substance burns the grass it landed on, leading Azureth to believe it is a strong acid. He is nervous of being hit by that. It is sure to deal tons of damage if it ever touches him. Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2593 BD: 8 MD: 1 Azureth decides to ditch his normal reckless strategy. He jumps into the air. This technique has become more common among his attacks recently. He twists himself, facing downwards. He then reaches out, holding his spear in front of him. He falls, piercing the wasp. It takes 2 damage and lets out a strange high pitched cry. Wasp: 6/10 Azureth: 9/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2595 BD: 4 MD: 2 The wasp uses one of its previous strategies. It turns around, pointing it's stinger at Azureth. It charges backwards. Of course, it misses this attack. It has terrible aim, as always. Azureth hopes that the wasp will continue to use this attack, as it always misses. This is also the reason he wonders why the wasp always uses this technique. Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2619 BD: 5 MD: 10 Azureth lifts his spear above his head while running at the wasp. This is getting annoying and drawn-out. He holds his spear pointing towards his enemy, like he is about to throw it. He then thrusts downwards, piercing the wasp for 2 damage. This technique seems to work well! He decides to use it more often. Wasp: 4/10 Azureth: 9/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2620 BD: 5 MD: 7 The wasp flies straight upwards. Azureth wonders what this tactic may be. He is slightly confused. The wasp then points its stinger at Azureth, still in the sky. Next, it uses the same basic charge it has used many times before. The difference this time is that the wasp was in the sky, making it harder to avoid. Azureth is hit for 2 damage. Wasp: 4/10 Azureth: 7/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2621 BD: 3 MD: 2 Azureth circles the wasp to its side. He decides to attack from the side with a combination of blunt force and piercing attacks. Azureth runs straight forward, holding his spear at his waist. When he closes in on the wasp, he thrusts once, missing, and then unleashes a flurry of swings. Strangely, every single attack misses. Wasp: 4/10 Azureth: 7/13 -PermaRoller- ID: 2622 BD: 3 MD: 1 The wasp once again attempts to use the strange substance. Instead of hitting Azureth, the wasp accidentally hits itself! The substance burns the wasp. Azureth laughs at it. It hurts itself with it's own attack. "Good job!" He says. Azureth knows he will win this fight. It's been decided. There's no way he can lose! Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2625 BD: 3 MD: 9 Azureth knew that he could finish off the wasp with one more attack. He became reckless, and charged straight at the wasp. He tripped and fell, canceling his attack. What a fail. Once again, Azureth has tripped. This had to be the third time today. He really needs to watch his footing. Seriously. The wasp is lucky! It doesn't have feet to trip with. Wasp: 2/10 Azureth: 7/13 -PermaRoller- ID:2626 MD: 3 BD: 4 The wasp began to panic, rushing at Azureth without a care. Azureth simply stepped aside, letting the wasp miss him. It turned around for another charge, but once again, Azureth stepped to the side. The wasp basically gives up all hope. It stops charging, waiting for it's death. It's clear the next attack will defeat it. Wasp: 2/10 Azureth: 7/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2627 BD: 5 MD: 6 Azureth knew that this would be the final hit, so he decided to execute it in a flashy manner. He jumped above the wasp, holding his spear straight down. This was the second time today he used this move. Azureth fell straight downwards, puncturing the wasp. "Walah! Wasp Kabob!" The wasp shatters on his spear. "Oh... where'd my kabob go?" Wasp: 0/10 (DEFEATED) Azureth: 7/13 -RESULTS- -Permaroller- ID: 2628 Loot: 20 +Alchemy Stand That fight took a while. Azureth looked at the spot the wasp used to be floating over. Sitting in the grass was an alchemy stand, fully in-tact. Azureth wondered why a wasp would drop something as trivial as an alchemy stand. However, that did not matter. The quest had probably forced the wasp to drop the item. It was exactly what Azureth needed, so why question it?
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Azureth walked back to the quest NPC with his newly acquired alchemy stand. While walking down the street, he noticed many things to the left and right of him. Blacksmiths pounding bars of metal into different types of objects. Cooks mixing together ingredients in a bowl. Azureth was glad he took this quest, as he now realized the importance of professions. Nearly every player of Sword Art Online had a profession, and he was glad to finally join them. When Azureth returned to the quest NPC, he gave him some basic ingredients and told him to mix together materials as he saw fit to create something. He remembered something like this in what Tom told him about this quest. First, Azureth mixed the eye of a boar with some acid from a wasp. The two ingredients created a strange purple solution. He wouldn't drink this no matter what somebody payed him. Azureth took the concoction to the NPC, who did nothing. This made Azureth believe that he had made some sort of mistake. Defeated, he returned to his alchemy stand. Azureth had an infinite amount of material to work with, so he didn't worry about failing the quest. Next, he combined a yellow syrup with a special looking blue herb. This made a glowing blue syrup substance. Azureth took it to the NPC to no avail. He did not get discouraged, and tried again. This time, he took his ingredients into mind. He took the item known as "Flame Leaf" and mixed it with "Combustion Powder". This created a normal clear mixture of black and red powder. It was named "Explosion Powder". Azureth was absolutely sure this would work, so he took it to the NPC. "Good job!" Said the quest NPC. The items Azureth used were taken from his inventory. "I would give you some basic materials, but they were stolen by a group of bandits!" the NPC declared. Azureth noticed a spot was just marked on his map. This was a cliche. Azureth rolled his eyes, disappointed. He would need to do even more to obtain the Alchemy profession.
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Azureth was now slightly angry at the quest for making him go through all of this trouble. It's just a profession. He should be able to choose one right off the bat. However, this was not the way the game worked. He had to accept that. There was no use complaining about it - how would he change it? Azureth realized how big of a deal he was making, when he noticed that he was nearly at the planned location. A bandit jumped out at him, presumably a guard for the rest of the camp. -PermaRoller- ID: 2659 MD: 4 BD: 5 Azureth no longer recklessly charged at his opponents. Rather, he calculated his best options. The bandit was only in simple leather clothing, so no matter where Azureth hit him he would deal the same amount of damage. His opponent wielded a steel dagger, presumably thrown. If Azureth was right, and the dagger was a throwing weapon, closing in and attacking at close range would be best. He charged at the bandit while zig-zagging. When he became close enough, he pierced the bandit with his spear. -HP- Azureth: 13/13 Bandit: 5/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2672 BD: 2 MD: 4 The bandit looked confused as to how Azureth found the campsite. Of course, this was just because he was an NPC. He knew nothing about the quest, and probably respawned every time it was accepted. The bandit brandishes it's dagger, slowly approaching Azureth. It takes a quick stab at him, only to be dodged. He attempts to stab Azureth again, and Azureth blocks the dagger with the rod of his spear. Azureth now knew that the enemy used melee attacks, not ranged. -HP- Azureth: 13/13 Bandit: 5/7 -PermaRoller- ID: 2676 BD: 9 MD: 6 Azureth notes the intelligence of the NPC. This aught to be an interesting battle. He counters the attack of the bandit by knocking it back with the blunt end of his spear, dealing 1 damage. He then uses his range to his advantage. He was lucky that the bandit used melee attacks. He shot his spear forward, stabbing the bandit once again for 2 damage. -HP- Azureth: 13/13 Bandit: 2/
Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted November 29, 2014 -PermaRoller- ID: 2677 BD: 3 MD: 7 The bandit knows that his HP is low and he is about to die, but he doesn't panic. The bandit vanishes into the shadows, appearing behind Azureth. It then slowly approaches him, preparing to stab him for a perfect critical. However, Azureth is lucky enough to notice this, so he turns around. Instead of being backstabbed, he takes a normal hit, worth 3 points of damage. This bandit sure hit hard. -HP- Azureth: 10/13 Bandit: 2/7 -PermaRoller- ID: 2678 BD: 5 MD: 9 Azureth was absolutely certain this battle was over. He moved to the right of the bandit, and then jumped forward, using his body weight to increase his damage. The bandit jumped up to avoid this, leaving Azureth directly below the bandit. This was what Azureth was hoping for. He stabbed directly upward, and the bandit was skewered on his spear. It then exploded into a glittering mess of blue shards, like all things that die in this world. -HP- Azureth: 10/13 Bandit: 0/7 [DEFEATED] -Result- -PermaRoller- ID: 2680 Loot: 6 Azureth obtained no drops. Azureth 0 Posted November 29, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Upon reaching the camp of bandits, Azureth noticed that there were no bandits present. This must be why they deployed a guard! He begun searching, tent by tent, for the stolen materials. This was sure to take some time. Azureth moved quickly, to finish what he was doing before the leader of the bandits returned. Eventually, he found all 5 materials. Once Azureth finished his search, a voice boomed behind him. "HEY! YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Said the supposed leader of the bandits. Azureth turned slowly... to meet a woman. "What..." Azureth said. "You can't possibly be a bandit... who are you?" "That's not important! Those are my materials!" Said the feminine voice. "Ok... but... again, who are you?" Azureth asked again. For some reason, he knew this player was an NPC. No player could have followed him all this way without him noticing. "Give me my materials!" The girl said again. "Yeah... you're an NPC, aren't you?" Azureth asked. "This is the last time I'll tell you! GIVE ME MY MATERIALS!!!" This girl was definitely an NPC. Since he would be able to acquire lots of money with the profession he earns from this quest, he decides to take the easy way out and bribe the girl. "Hey, I'll give you... 50 col... for 'your' materials." "Make that 100." This girl was pushy. "Fine..." Azureth responded. Immediately, the girl explained who she was. "Sorry for the fuss. I'm Amy. I'm not part of this troupe of bandits. I just heard about stolen materials, and decided to steal them from the bandits. Stealing from those who steal, y'know." A window opened in front of Azureth, and he clicked the "Confirm" button. 100 col was subtracted from his balance. He then started returning to town, but was attacked by a couple wolfs on the way back.
