Rin hasn't exactly had a perfect life, her dad left her with her mother at a young age and never bothered to contact her again. When she was seven her mum hooked up with a man who would abuse both mother and daughter when he was angry, however both of the females were too scared to stand up for themselves and dealt with the abuse for eight more years. One night her mother woke her up, holding two carrier bags stuffed with belongings and clothing, that night they ran away from her mothers boyfriend. Once the two found a place to live in they both tried to recover from what they had been through, however it was impossible to remove the marks upon their skin and memories.

Rin ddnt want to ever feel weak and vulnerable like she had felt when around her mums boyfriend, in order to fulful her wish she created a facade in which she is a sarcastic, cold person who does not seem to care about other people. Sword Art Online was her escape, she could leave all of her problems of the real world behind and emerge herself in the life of someone else.

 

» Virtues:

Brave – Rin is brave, When she learned that she was stuck in SAO she didn't cry, she went right back out into the world to fight enemies and she never once thought about the consequences. She is not afrad of death or being hurt for she thinks she has no one to live for anyway.

 

Responsible- Rin will own up to everything she has ever done, whether it be good or bad, she will not let others take either blame of credit for her actions. She is willing to take on the consequences of her actions, for she is always sure of what she is doing, believing it is right

 

Strong-willed - Rin is very strong willed, if she believes in something she will stand up for that- not caring what others say. She stands up for what she thinks if right/ should be done, she claims this is never for the benefit of others however deep inside she does know that she wants to save everyone she can in SAO.

 

Tristan- Rins love for Tristan is what powers he in battle and makes her stronger. She is incredibly devoted to him and will do anything me tells her to even if it means risking her life. Whenever she thinks of Tristan she is suddenly driven by some force to do her best.

 

» Flaws:

Withdrawn- She is not very friendly and tends to keep to herself when in large groups, this is because she feels slightly insecure but will never admit to it. Rin finds it hard to express any positive feelings in front of people she is extremely close to, when she does it means that something is really bothering her. 

 

Sarcastic- A subtle form of mockery in which an intended meaning is conveyed obliquely. Another one of her characteristics to cover up her true self and make her seem stronger to others. Rin will make mean comments on peoples actions, words or appearance. She doesnt mean to be a bad person she is just trying to seem stronger than what she is.

 

Blunt- Rin, as her name suggests, is very cold, harsh and blunt when speaking to strangers. She says simply what she thinks even if it will hurt others, her responses to strangers and groups are short. Rin is not afraid to speak her mind and will happily tell you if she does not like you like it doesnt mean a thing to her. She will also ignore people if they are upset, exceptions being people she cares about a lot, for she does not want to get wrapped up in others lives.

 

Tristan- Is also a flaw as well as a virtue this is because he can distract Rin as the will focus all of her thoughts on him when he is around. She will also happily give up her life for him  because she loves him so much.
