Mari 1 Posted December 13, 2014 Author #21 Share Posted December 13, 2014 It was dark, but she continued to work in the corridor; it was a small corridor so after a few more attempts she would be in the next room, and with any luck she could prop her little crystal in the room and make some sort of light source, she gave a small sigh. "I kinda wish Moartea was here right now - he'd be able to sniff out some of those light filled caverns; or at least hold the crystal for me..." She added as she again came up with nothing. "Then again...he was so quick to anger I wouldn't be able to work as meticulously as I have been." Mari 1 Posted December 13, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted December 13, 2014 Another crystal fell free from the wall, Mari may barely be able to see, but she can be damned sure her thorough nature was paying off. Mari grabbed it, albeit clumsily, and placed it in her satchel. Feeling pretty darn proud of herself. How many was that now? Almost 3 days worth. Mari would say that the NPC would be 'happy' with the results but lets face it, Nala was a shop NPC and wasn't capable of feeling emotion. She could be pretty convincing, but she wasn't real. None of this was. Yet... It was all Mari really had right now. Mari paused her material hunting at the thought. Her killing her own daughter, her kissing Alkor - was any of that truly real? Or would she wake up and find it one long, horrid nightmare? Loot Dice: 16-1: 15 SUCCESS! -1 to Dice Roll Darkness Mats Collected: 8Mari 47/
Mari 1 Posted December 13, 2014 Author #23 Share Posted December 13, 2014 Of course it was real, it was as real as she was, as the others who wandered the castle floors of Aincrad. It was as real as her daughters frightened screams, as real as Argumails rabid anger and Kazuya's cursed vow of revenge. It was as real as Life leaving her; stating they could no longer be friends, and as real as the night she had slept soundly with Alkor by her side. Mari Rammed her dagger into the wall in frustration, such thoughts; such idyllic foolishness. She wouldn't allow herself to live in a delusion that this was all just a nightmare. 'Tink'Mari sighed, her frustration freed yet another crystal, at least she had that going for her. Mari 1 Posted December 13, 2014 Author #24 Share Posted December 13, 2014 This corridor was lucky, Mari wanted to stay in it - perhaps she would switch over to the other wall before entering the next room after all - no sooner had she picked up the material another had fallen out. Mari quickly collected that one too. Wiping her brow, at this rate she'd almost have 4 days worth of materials rather than her original goal of 2 days. Mari was now concentrating hard on gaining materials, the woes that stained her consciousness becoming a distant concern in her subconscious mind. Mari 1 Posted December 13, 2014 Author #25 Share Posted December 13, 2014 Mari became immersed in her work; she worked hard - diligently, but her luck would not last forever. She had worked all the way down the corridor wall and hadn't gotten another material, not that she could possibly complain. She was well over her estimated amount. "Mmmm..." Mari paused, turning her back to the wall and allowing herself to slide down it. Mari wanted to take a small break. If she allowed herself a few short breaks she wouldn't be so worn out later. Not that being completely worn out was a bad idea, maybe she would get a decent nights sleep for once. Mari 1 Posted December 14, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted December 14, 2014 After resting, Mari pushed herself back up; realizing that her joints hurt more than she realized. Perhaps she should call it quits. Mari bit her lip. Wondering if she should continue down into the next cavern. Deciding against it Mari went to the opposite wall, striking her dagger into it, and low and behold - another material fell out. "One more..." Mari muttered. "Just one more...." Mari 1 Posted December 14, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted December 14, 2014 "Just one more...." It had become her mantra as fatigue had truly began to sink in, her movements were sluggish and she was becoming less meticulous about the whole ordeal, she lazily thrust her dagger into the wall - arms aching. Why was she so tired all of a sudden? was it because she chose to rest for a moment, and thus it all had time to catch up with her? Mari shook her weary head; wanting to get that one last material before finishing for the day. Mari 1 Posted December 14, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Mari yawned then rubbed her eyes with her sleeve. Working constantly like this in dim lighting was difficult. She thought about bringing out the light crystal, but fat lot of good that did her. Without having something to string it up or somewhere to wedge it into, it was just a liability. An accident waiting to happen. No, Mari would do this the hard way. Another strike into the wall and another fail. Mari 1 Posted December 14, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Mari rammed her dagger against the wall again and again; attempting to dishevel anything, just one more material, heck even if it was one she couldn't use. "Dammit you stupid wall." Mari muttered as she kicked it. As she did kick it; a material fell out. What luck. Mari quickly scooped it up. Great! Now she could leave; return to her 'home' on the second floor and send the materials off to Nala so she could craft up some monster grenades. Not that anyone ever bought any. Mari sighed; leaving the cave and trudging back to a teleport pad; disappearing from the 7th floor.
