(SP-F8) Suicidal

Manta yanked her sword out of its sheath and held it unwavering in the air. She was in a good mood, but needed money. And the stronged the enemy you fight the more loot you get. Now she was going to test the boundaries of her abilities. She was going to solo a feild boss. And a powerful on at that. She equipped her armor and her new weapon, as well as her coat and her new gauntlets. She felt confident that she was strong and fast enough to win. The feild boss was known for its devastating earth wave ability, as well as its normal devastating punches. Apparently it had tons of health as well.

Manta walked towards the mountain, her blade in hand. She entered the tunnels and walked through them, not encountering any hostile mobs. She eventually made her way to the center of the mountain, a giant hollowed out room. On the other side of the room was a large stone statue, the field boss. It hadn't awoken yet. Apparently you had to actually go up and touch it, or throw something at it before it would even move. The whole point to this was to reach the treasure hidden behind the boss, behind a large pair of locked doors. They would only unlock once the boss had been defeated. The quest had reccomended that players take it in groups, but Manta was feeling cocky, with her new gear equipped.

Manta picked up a stray rock and tossed it at the statues face. It hit him smack dab in the nose, and the stone changed into knotty grey flesh, coming alive as a giant. It was massive, and probably the most powerful thing she had ever soloed. She ran towards it, using her acrobatic skill to flip over his flailing leg, attacking as she did so. He blade cut through the stony flesh like butter, her new perfect quality sword proving itself. And it's creator. Crusher really was a guy in a million when it came to blacksmithing. Everything he had made for her worked perfectly, and was just as good, if not better than what she had ordered.

Manta dodged the next stomp, rolling quickly underneath the fast descending foot and then back up onto her feet. She grabbed onto a crag in the giants toe and flipped her way on top of it, slashing her sword across the foot as she ran before jumping off, flipping in mid air to land on her feet. Ever since she had gotten that acrobatics skill, she had been flipping and rolling all over the place. She ran rapidly around behind the giant, marveling at how slow it was. It would never catch her, with all of her buffs in speed and evasion.

Manta realized that it had noticed she was behind it when it brought the heel of it's foot thundering towards her. She dove underneath it, dodging it by a hair before getting back up and slashing at its foot while it was stuck in the wall. She sort of wished that Sousuke was there. She really wanted to show off for him and prove to him that she wasn't fragile and that she could take care of herself. He'd never said anything like that, but she could tell that he worried about her every time she got in a fight. She ran around towards the front of the giant just as he got his foot unstuck and ran after here.

She turned around abruptly and charged towards the giant. The giant, who wasn't expecting it, flailed his arms around, trying to stop and ending up skidding right by her. She jumped up onto his back and used her sword to climb even higher, each time vaulting and catching herself by stabbing him with the blade. She finally made it to his shoulder and slashed through his neck, all the while dodging his madly flailing arms. She laughed out loud at how pathetically the giant was fighting. This was a field boss? No way!

Manta hopped off of the giants back, slowing her fall by jamming her blade into it's back, cutting a gigantic slit down its back. She grinned happily as it's health meter once again sank down. Adrenaline coursed through her body, and she impulsively ran up to it again, slashing madly with her blade. Once again she found herself wishing that Sousuke was there so she could show off for a reason. The giant turned around with a new look in it's eyes, one of cunning. She must have activated something by bringing him down to half health. She catiously backed away from him, ready to doge at any moment.

(Ability activated. Giant now gains a plus 2 to attack (3 total) and a +1 to accuracy)

He ran at her full tilt, and hes started to think that maybe she was wrong about him activating an ability or getting stronger. His eyes now had strange fiery red rings around the irises, and he looked surprisingly spooky. She dodged to the left, but he jammed his heel into the ground and swung around, scooping her off the ground. She stabbed him in the hand and he dropped her painfully onto the ground. She got back up, now even more wary of the field boss.

Manta just barely jumped over his next swipe, his fingers missed catching her by a hair. She ran towards him and ducked under the next swipe, slashing at his arm with her curved sword. She did a flip and landed behind the giant before slashing at his leg and cutting it open as well. Sh frowned. This fight was getting harder and harder. Still, she was sure that she could win it. After all, she was still almost at full health and the giant was at less than half.

Manta raised her gauntleted arms up and the sword as well, ready to go hack and slash the boss to pieces before he had a chance to do anything tricky. She sprinted at him as fast as she could, ducking underneath a stomp and then whirling around, hooking her sword on his heel. A spark of electricity moved from her gauntlets into her sword and from there to the giant, paralyzing him for a bit. She took advantage of this immediately and started randomly hacking and slashing.

Manta swung her sword repeatedly at his leg, going berserk for a few moments and ripping and tearing through the giants leg. She vaulted up his back while he was paralyzed and started to hack at his neck, dealing loads of damage. She knew that he paralyze would be wearing off soon, so she slid down his back and retreated slowly. It should only take a couple more hits to defeat him, and then she could go get the treasure chest. If it was even there. It had only been a rumor, but she had seized hold of it. She just knew that she had to win this fight, if only to find out what was behind those doors.

Manta knew that the fight was basically over. The boss just didn't know when to quit though, and charged at her. She calmly jumped into the air as high as she could and stabbed it in the stomach, before dragging her blade down. The boss shattered into blue shards and the doors that had been hidden behind him before opened with a loud creak. Sh started to walk over to them tentatively, curious to see if it really had all been a rumor, or if it had been true.

Manta walked into the torchlit room, and made her way to the center. There was a treasure chest, but it was yet to be seen if there would be a treasure in it. the whole thing could be a trap! SHe walked over to it and inspected the hinges, looking for any indication, any indication at all that it might be a trap. She went over to the walls and looked at them for any uneven ness or holes that darts could shoot out from. There were none and she finally felt comfortable enough to go open the treasure chest.

Manta grabbed the edges of the chest with a firm grip before heaving upwards. The lid was surprisingly heavy, but she managed it and got it all the way open. Inside the chest was the motherload.... 400 col and two materials, it was the most col she had ever found in one place before. It appeared that it had all been worth it, and the rumors had been true. She left the mountain contentedly and headed back to the city so that she could go home and brag about the days exploits.
