(PP-F4)[Festival Event] Just "Friends"(Complete)

Recommended Posts

Garou was waiting in the plaza of the Starting City, checking the time on his in-game digital clock that rested in his HUD. It was almost noon, the time for CobaltsDream to meet him according to a message he sent the day before. The sky on the First Floor was as clear as ever, never threatening rain or even the slightest hint of clouds. He began to pace back in forth with his hands behind his back, Garou's chains rustling excitedly as he grew more nervous. He was practically about to go on a date with a girl for the first time... but they were going as friends. He was confused as he was excited, his heart never missing a beat of his mind's fantasies of what could lay on Floor 4.

CobaltsDream made her way sluggishly towards the place she was about to meet Garou at. It was obvious that something was bothering her but she decided to shrug it off. To her, they were just friends. She planned to keep it that way. Floor 4 didn’t exactly excite her that much, nothing in the game did really. She rubbed her eyes as she saw Garou in sight, soon walking up to greet him.

He saw her and smiled, taking off his hat to bow to her as he was accustomed to doing. "Good day, my lady." He kept his head down as his intuition felt something wrong. There was something difference about Garou... the gem above his head was now red instead of green.

Garou's face dropped into a pit of sorrow. He looked away before sending a party invite to her. "I'll explain in a minute..." He took out a teleportation crystal and spat out some words. "Teleport. Fourth Floor... Entrance..." His voice almost faded away as he completed the command and the two players shattered into blue pieces before appearing in an oak forest with a a wooden fort to their backs. He started walking off to the side between trees.

She sighed softly and nodded as she pulled up her menu to accept the party invite. “Sounds good to me.â€

Beatha glanced around as they appeared in the oak forest, turning her head to look at the wooden fort before following Garou close behind. “So where do we need to go?â€

The purple-haired boy stopped when he was out of range of the area they teleported to and turned to look at Beatha. "Not too far off should be the right town, some place called Hugemel," he murmured as he leaned against a tree. Garou began twirling his soft hair until he finally spoke with great pain in his words. "I killed someone."

Beatha nodded silently, stopping alongside him once he leaned up against the tree. “Killed someone huh?†She grunted out as she crossed her arms. It didn’t faze her much. There’s been a lot of death in life so she was too used to it. “Sorry about that.†She muttered awkwardly, completely unsure of how to go about the situation.

He almost gasped at her steady approach to his revelation. "B-but I'm a murderer now! That doesn't bother you!?" Garou's face fell away from her again as he studied the scenery. Floor 4 was a taiga of pine and oak, a fresh pine scent wafting through the pleasant air. He was trying to keep his mind off of the matter, but his conscience kept dragging him back like a tight leash.

“No. It doesn’t… It really doesn’t.†She spoke softly, watching him with close eyes. She gave a simple shrug as she moved her gaze around to the trees. She reached out and ran her finger tips over the rough bark of the pine tree that was next to her. The texture felt nice, it reminded her of back home to where her brother would chase her around trees and eventually toss her in the lake.

Garou stood there in shock. Does she think I have my reasons, or does she really not care...? Garou was going to say something further when it became noon. The entire Floor suddenly shifted habitat; all trees but firs died as snow swept into the landscape, coating the level in inches of snow and ice in a matter of seconds. A gasp finally escaped Garou's lips when the Fourth Floor modified itself for the event. "It must be starting now..." A gentle fall of snow came down from the sky, individual flakes visible thanks to the wonders of the hellish Nerve Gear that had trapped them in Aincrad in the first place.

Beatha sighed softly and gave him a side glance, “You look like a deer in the head lights.†She snorted as she ran her fingers through her hair. She was going to be honest, she really didn’t mind it. Of course she cared but she wasn’t going to make a big deal about it. It’d bring back thoughts she didn’t need to be thinking about. At least not right now. And if he asked about… She’d tell him the truth. He’d probably understand . “We should get going then.†Her eyes wandered up to the sky, watching as the snowflakes fell. Her sight shifted from snowflake to snowflake, enjoying the calming movement of the light snow fall.

The surprised boy nodded to Beatha, turning to walk forward again. The snow wasn't too thick, but it took him a while to get used to it. Every clumsy step was almost a slip-and-fall. He growled when he tumbled onto his chest, cursing up a storm as he gathered his bearings. Garou slammed a tree in frustration, knocking it down in one smack. The village was up ahead in clear view, snow-topped roofs visible as well as an iced-over lake.

Beatha was able to keep her footing as she walked alongside Garou. Every now and then her foot would slip against the snow but gained her balance back shortly after. She paused to watch the boy beside her, raising her brow slightly. “Are you okay?†Her sight shifted from him to the village, looking at the visible buildings and lake. “It looks nice…â€

Garou finally breathed out as he learned how to walk right. "Yeah, I'm fine." They were nearing the gates to the village when suddenly a voice from the entrance called out.

"Hey! You! Freeze! You're under arrest for killing another player!" It was an NPC man with leather armor standing outside the village- an NPC guard. The guards were tasked by SAO to subdue any criminals in the game. Another man stood by him, also an NPC guard. Both were Level 5; supposedly one could assume this was due to their job being what the monsters outside safe zones could not accomplish. They both had one-handed, ordinary iron short swords and leather vests. They marched up towards Garou, who drew out his blade, Heaven's Beam, a friendly gift from Rage.

"Not today."

Beatha looked forward and saw the two NPC guards come forward with their drawn swords. She narrowed her eyes and drew her own blade. She hasn’t fought anything like this before. If he needed help she’d be there. She didn’t plan on having the guards taking Garou away, she wouldn’t allow it.

Garou engaged the battle without a heads up, dashing to meet his enemy first. He raised his sword with gusto and brought it downwards, cutting into the warrior's shoulder. "Stand back, soldier. I have no qualms with you." Instead of retreating as was suggested by the valiant boy, the guard swung back at him. Garou was too quick however, leaping back about ten feet in a single bound. He looked over to CobaltsDream. "Be careful!" The lad definitely did not want his (date?) friend to get injured on their personal event.

Beatha chose Guard B as a target and charged forward to the enemy, aiming for a hit near his armpit. She sliced open the point where the guard's arm met his shoulder. “I’ll be fine.†She insisted as she forced herself back in the snow, away from the guard. She took in a breath and kept her gaze on the target.

Garou waited for the enemy guard to reach him and attack. the boy dodged a deft vertical slice but got hit by a following horizontal, rattling his chains. Garou get hit in the chest, but it didn't phase him as his health bar notched slightly less. "Nice try." He got back again, grinning at Beatha's nice strike.

Beatha lunged forward again to strike at her enemy in front of her, trying to aim for the guard’s knees but failed. The guard’s sword managed to cut into her side; forcing her to stumble but quickly regained her balance with a low growl. She gripped her sword and turned around, ready for another try.
