Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2015 Pyro twirled a wooden and metal pick in her hand, whistling while searching the ceiling and walls of a cave for ores hiding, waiting to be mined. She was in desperate need of more materials for her Blacksmith shop. They were needed in order for her to complete the unfinished orders so far and the more the merrier. Heat from the volcano didn't bother her, in fact this had to be her favorite floor yet and Pyro was surprised she hadn't visited it yet. It was soothing and comfortable, and quite beautiful. Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted January 12, 2015 ID: 6601 LD: 19 (Obtain 1 material) Pyro stopped upon noticing numerous specks of gray against the black-purple color of the small cave. She stopped and held the pick back with both hands, swinging forward with as much force as she could muster. The wall cracked and in front of her appeared the number of hits she'd taken and the number of hits needed to obtain the ore from the wall. She pulled it back and swung two more times, completing the required number, and obtained one ore in her inventory.
Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 12, 2015 After achieving her first ore Pyro decided to continue hitting in the same spot to see if any remains were left behind for her to collect. It seemed there was because the hit calculator appeared in her eyesight again. This time it took about ten hits but if she got materials than it was worth it. ID: 6602 LD: 3 (You find no suitable materials) Unfortunately the ore was shattered and showed up incomplete in her inventory so she dropped it with no idea how to finish an incomplete ore. Someone else might find it and dropping was better than deleting. Pyro wondered away from that area because she didn't want to accidentally mine more broken items.
Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted January 12, 2015 ID: 6603 LD: 3 (You find no suitable materials) A long search ended up with Pyro finding no more ores in the cave she was currently in so she headed outside, towards the light, and roamed the lands to find a different cave. Extended mountains coming from the ground had ceilings the hung and provided shade so she headed under one to look. The ceiling was low enough for her to be able to mine there and she excitedly rushed over and started swinging her pick again.
Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted January 12, 2015 ID: 6604 LD: 2 (You find no suitable materials) Pyro was having a lot of bad luck trying to find ores. The ceilings had no ores so she delved deeper and found a small hole in which she climbed into. It was easy for her slender body to fit in but hard because of her towering height. Pyro managed to squeeze in and it turned out there was an enormous cave with a lava pit and never-ending colorful walls that could hold many ores if she was lucky and careful enough. A smile made its way onto her face as maybe her bad luck was turning around.
Pyro 0 Posted January 12, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted January 12, 2015 ID: 6605 LD: 6 (You find no suitable materials) Sadly the first ore Pyro stumbled upon broke upon impact. She tilted her head in confusion not so sure if she swung with her pick and hit too hard or if it was destined and so old it was going to break no matter what. Pyro sighed and did what she did last time, headed far away from the messed up ore in case others were goners too. The cave was large anyways so it didn't matter if she traveled around and explored a bit.
Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6607 LD: 6 (You find no suitable materials) Once again Pyro messed up, this time the ore seemed perfect but she found herself assuming the wrong thing because it broke upon impact again. This time though, she knew for sure it was already broken as if someone had been around this area before. Pyro stayed in the same place and continued mining more because required hits popped up even though the first ore had already busted into crystal shards.
Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6612 LD: 3 (You find no suitable materials) As her pick slammed down on the speckled cave wall for the last time the item popped up and showed a damaged sign, thus Pyro was forced to drop it. She sighed and groaned, closing her crimson eyes in annoyance. She scooted over to the side and started up the swing, hit, swing, hit motions of her pick in attempt to salvage more material. "This is much harder than I thought it would be." Pyro told herself, voice echoing off the cave walls.
Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6613 LD: 15 (Obtain 1 material) Lazily, Pyro chipped at the wall, only 7 hits needed. Though her heart pumped when she saw that this was a perfect iron ore and it was instantly placed into her inventory. She double checked it to make sure it was indeed usable and jumped up, clapping with excitement. Pyro slung the pick over her shoulder and traveled to a different spot in the cave, pushing through heavy clumps of moss to be able to cross the thin bridge over a deep lava pit. Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted January 13, 2015 This time Pyro, once crossing the bridge and thick moss, discovered layers and layers of gold ore. It covered one whole wall completely, it was about ten feet across and she could see the top but it was far away. ID: 6614 LD: 13 (You find no suitable materials) The first attempt hadn't worked but there was so much gold ore and Pyro was determined so she remained in the same spot and picked away as fast as possible. She had a good feeling about these ores now.
Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6617 LD: 7 (You find no suitable materials) The layer behind the first one she managed to fail to salvage was rotten as well. She decided to move a few feet over, closer to the edge of the lava pit, but there were better and newer looking ores on that side and Pyro knew that they probably had a better chance to be usable. Pyro lifted her pick up for what felt the millionth time and prepared herself to swing down right in the middle, hoping to get a perfect hit that would obtain the ore instantly. Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6618 LD: 1 (You find no suitable materials) "Dammit." She muttered when once again, the ore process had failed. Why was she having such bad luck doing something so easy? Or at least, easy with the in-game mechanics. "I can't stop now, I need more materials. Plus this I'll only have three." She told herself and searched for fresher ores, the shiny kind. Since it was gold they were easy to see if shiny and new because they glimmered. Bubbles from the lava popped and the smell of smoke filled her lungs and Pyro hummed contently. Fire was her favorite and always would be.
Pyro 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted January 13, 2015 ID: 6619 LD: 2 (You find no suitable materials) Another incomplete. Pyro sighed and this time destroyed it because the space in front of her wasn't very big and dropping it would leave her no space and a fiery death. That wasn't the worst way to die in her eyes but she still didn't want to die in a video game. Pyro finally found a new, shiny ore and pondered first before positioning herself and pick aim to beat it.
Pyro 0 Posted January 14, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted January 14, 2015 ID: 6716 LD: 19 (Obtain 1 material) It seemed as if none of the places Pyro thought would be good to mine at worked, but as she continued hitting in an angry fashion, found herself receiving a new ore. Pyro smiled with glee when the number of hits were over and an ore was added to the count already in her inventory. To make sure the gold area was cleared out, Pyro began mining more planning to try two more times and if they didn't work was going to move on to find different types in different places. Pyro 0 Posted January 16, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted January 16, 2015 ID: 6863 LD: 19 (Obtain 1 material) Pyro nodded her head in accomplishment when she successfully obtained yet another gold ore, glad she'd decide to stay in the same spot. "It's worth another try." She told herself and took a breather before lifting her heavy, sharp pick to another block of gold. The dim light was taking a toll on her eyes and the pick wearing her muscles out but thanks to the game it was different and far easier than it would have been in real life. Pyro 0 Posted January 16, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted January 16, 2015 ID: 6864 LD: 4 (You find no suitable materials) Pyro was glad to move from the thin edge of the gold pit when the next hit came up as a broken ore. Of course, she dropped it, and moved on to a larger spot where she could move around better and more often. Carefully, she wobbled along the edge, as to not fall in the lava far down, and headed for an ore more common. Iron ore. Her favorite type of ore to use to make weapons and armor. Hopefully she'd have more luck.
Pyro 0 Posted January 16, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted January 16, 2015 ID: 6865 LD: 17 (Obtain 1 material) Pyro swung her pick 5 times and an iron ore popped out and instantly traveled into her inventory. "Good, good." She huffed and stepped to the side in front of another block. Her goal was officially 15 materials before leaving home, more if she was up to it. Including the 1 material she already had Pyro would have 6 with this one added. "9 more to go." She sighed and started to pick away yet again.
