[PP-F2] <<Long Live The Queen>> (Completed)

Recommended Posts

Baldur followed Tyger's lead as she rapped her sword against her shield in order to grab its attention and then beat it over the head with her sword while Baldur ran around behind it into a flanking position, and just after she cut it, he sliced through the creature and watched the shower of polygons fall to the ground between them. As the be disappeared, it revealed Baldur smiling at Tyger with that big lopsided grin of his.

"Hey Bee-utiful."

He winked at her and then looked around for their next opponent. They had somehow moved quite far from the path they had been on and were now much deeper into the woods than they had started.

"Hopefully that bugger will show its face soon"

The loot dropped and the bee was no more. Baldur's smiling face was staring back at her, and she raised her hand to wave at him. However, there was a spawned bee materializing behind her. If Baldur saw it, there wasn't enough time to warn her as the stinger on this particular bee shone with a little bit of light, as if it were preparing an attack, like the players would. The critical hit bore the stinger into Tyger's back, causing intense damage... if it were anyone but Tyger. The damage mitigation helped keep her safe, and she snarled, wheeling around on the bug. It seemed surprised, as if that trick would always work on everyone that came in the field.

"Listen here, you little insect! You are interrupting a tender moment between me and my boyfriend! Buzz off!"

The jokes were helping her feel better, considering she was fighting bugs, something she hated with a passion. Her sword shone in the same fashion as the bee's stinger, and the damage almost wiped the bee out. Her shoulders moved with the intensity of her angered breathing.

"Damn bee needs to hurry, I don't have all day."

The damage from Tyger's swipe healed her back up with Lifesteal. Good. Stupid bee.

"AS YOU WISH!" Baldur bum rushed the bee, putting his shoulder into it and knocking it back even as he brought his sword up from below and slashed the bee as it was still falling backwards. It exploded into shards of light in a pretty little firework display.

"I say, my dear, you are quite the invincible tank. I really think this is working out well. Together, we're practically invincible!"

Even as he said it though, he really was impressed with just how... undefeatable she was. Her HP would occasionally dip down low, but there she was, still at full health, while he probably would have been at half or lower by now. His build might work out in the long run, but he certainly wouldn't be able to gamble this way if it wasn't for her.

Baldur flashed her a smile, and then gave her a fencer's salute with his sword. With his free hand, he tapped the item window and looted the wasp, taking their Col and the two mats it dropped. This would help a lot, especially as her smithing got higher in level she needed more and more mats to fill the void.

Baldur finished off the bee quickly, and Tyger smiled as he collected his loot and what not.

"Good job!"

She gave him a thumbs up, and walked over as he complimented her. Yeah, these skills she'd chosen were pretty spot on for tanking. She'd need a few more skills to generate more rage, but for the most part, this was working out well.

"Thanks! I'm only so good because i've got something special i'm protecting."

There was a wink placed in there for Baldur, in response to his salute.

"I think that bee should come out soon. Maybe we should travel a bit deeper in?"

She suggested. Maybe there was a hive?

Smiled and moved up to Tyger, wrapping his left arm around her and pulling her in close for a hug while he kept his sword in his right hand and pointed carefully away from her.

"I think you've offended the system. It keeps looking for a Bee Queen to spawn, and it's not finding anything. Maybe if you admitted we were committing genocide against wasps, then the Wasp Queen would spawn." He smiled down at her playfully, his blue eyes twinkling as they looked down into hers.

They needed to wait for more <<Wind Wasps>> to respawn, so he took this moment just enjoy that smile of hers.

Tyger enjoyed his company out on the field, and this moment was no different. She allowed him to pull her close, but kept her eyes peeled for any sight of a large, giant bee

"Fine, I admit it. I'm not here for the loot, just to destroy all bees until they're dead. Dead dead dead."

She'd meant it as a joke, although she did have some sick satisfaction when she destroyed bees. She ran away from them in real life, so the role reversal was amusing to say the least.

"Bees shall die today."

Her voice was solumn, but then she stopped and pointed, eyes widening. That was a HUGE bee. She let out an audible whimper.

"There she is... let's just get this over with please?"

More whimpering sounds emitted from her as she took Tiberius and charged forward, blade out to gain the attention of the queen. It buzzed in her direction, and the bee buzzed loudly. Tyger's swipe missed, but the bee didn't hit her. Thank goodness.

"We need to kill this thing, and fast!"

Tyger yelled to Baldur, who was hopefully following her.

Baldur's eyes widened. He figured the Wasp Queen would be big, but he didn't realize how big. Her stinger was easily the side of his forearm.

"That is one BIG wasp."

Undeterred, Baldur followed Tyger in her charge, and while the wasp was able to swerve out of the way of her blade, he was able to follow it up and his azure strike cut through the Wasp Queen.

Paying close attention he tried to figure how much he hurt it. His strike didn't seem to be a crit, and of the two HP bars the Wasp Queen had, his strike seemed to take about a third of its first bar off. This shouldn't be too hard at all!

"We can do this!"

Baldur's azure streak gave her the confidence to jump in. This gigantic hell bee could be defeated, so Tyger just had to keep thinking that. Once she got over the fear of the bee, perhaps she'd start hitting it.

"I'll do my best to keep it's attention!"

However, there wasn't much she could do unless she hit it. Charging forward, banging her sword on her shield, Tyger did her best to distract the creature and disorient it with sound. When she got close enough, she tried to swipe at it. However, it was a miss.

"Baldur it's coming after you, be careful!"

The Queen Bee turned to face Baldur, and stung at him. However, Tyger slid in front of Baldur, shoulder knocking into his to move him out of the way as the bee stung Tyger in the chest. It didn't do much damage, but she needed to keep Baldur free to bring it down lower with his attacks. Even if she didn't hold the rage, she could jump in the way just as easy. There was no healing this turn, unfortunately. Tyger gritted her teeth and snarled.

After Baldur had landed his hit, the Wasp Queen had turned her ire on him. Her giant stinger was suddenly coming at him with a surprising speed, but suddenly Baldur felt himself sprawling out onto the ground. Was it another wasp? Was she summoning guards? As he looked up to see what hit him, he saw Tyger take the blow meant for him from the Queen. Her HP bar barely moved with the damage. Quickly pushing himself to his feet, Baldur ran around Tyger's shield side and slashed into the Wasp Queen, it was a solid blow but not a critical. As it was, if she could keep taking the blows for them, they would able to whittle her down in no time. He kept running past her to try and get around behind it.

Her shield was in front of her body, ready to intercept any crazy strange hits the bee might have. Baldur had taken another decent chunk of health, and Tyger was about to do the same. Concealing her blade behind her shield would surprise the creature, at least when Tyger had stored a bit of power into the hit. Her blade glew orange as she watched Baldur dance around the bee, and when the Queen's head was turned, Tyger's blade rocketed forward, slashing alongside the opposite side of the bee. The orange streak was almost hidden within the thick hairs, but it was definitely there. From what she could tell, the Queen Bee was at half health. That wasn't a bad place to be, considering they wanted to kill her as quick as possible.

"When we get back to real life, we're moving to the arctic. No bees."

She wasn't kidding.

Baldur hooted and cheered as Tyger landed a critical to regain the attention of the wasp queen and watched her health tick back up to full.

"This is why having a tank is awesome!" He smiled. She was invincible.

"You got this!" He cheered her on. The Wasp Queen couldn't seem to figure out which one to attack.

As it turned to face Tyger, it left itself exposed to Baldur's follow up and he slashed at its wings, the pale blue light striking through the bee and shaving off more hitpoints. They had it down to about two thirds of its last HP bar already.

As the hitpoints of the Bee fell, Tyger's confidence grew. Her face had changed from timid, to angry. This creature was inbetween them and their freedom. Even though it was a stupid bug, she'd slowly begun to step out of her shell and really do some damage with her hits. Now that she had the rage of the creature once more, she'd keep it. Her sword was hidden behind her shield, and she stepped forward, bashing the shield at the bee to get it to move forward in rage. The Queen buzzed angrily, and came in for an attack. It was exactly what Tyger wanted.

Her blade glew bright orange as Tyger sprang forward, jumping up and using the shield to catch the head of the Bee and pin it on the ground long enough to hack at the body of the bee with her sword. It let out an agonizing scream, which sounded like something from a dubstep video back home. It wrenched it's head free and came at Tyger furiously, stinging her as she lowered her shield to allow the attack in. It wasn't like she was doing any damage, after all.

Baldur's eyes opened wide, impressed, as Tyger took the wasp to the ground and wailed on it. He ran forward, but as he slashed at the wasp, it wrenched itself free of her pinning attack as his blade struck the ground with an explosion of dirt.

"Gah!" Baldur cursed, his blow would have finished it off, but instead the Wasp Queen reared up and jammed its stinger into Tyger. It looked like it would have hurt, but she shrugged it off like nothing. This was so much better than when they had first started out. Maybe they really could be part of the Assault team!

This was it. Tyger could feel the anticipation growing. It was in the ground, in the mobs, in Baldur, in herself, and in the Bee Queen in front of her. She could hear the blood surging through her ears, and her heartbeat was so hard she could feel it through her armor. The bee in front of her was almost dead. It's flight patterns were wobbly, and there was no way it was going to survive the next few turns. Tyger wanted this to be hers. Every little bee, wasp, or flying creature that remotely resembled an insect... she'd run away from like a scared, horrified little girl. But in this world, this armor meant more to her than a can of Raid and a rolled up newspaper. This sword was her weapon, and there was nothing the stinger could do to her. Killing this bug meant more than just a boss killed. It was the symbol of fear, and Tyger would smite it down.

"This ends, here and now."

Tyger snarled, dropping her shield. The bee buzzed quickly, perhaps a sound of surprise, and surged forward with the intention of seizing the opening Tyger had made.. Tyger did the same until they clashed in the middle. The Bee's wings scattered some of the dust and grass they'd cut with their feet, and the bare spots they'd made as they slid. There was a ripping sound, and then an explosion of crystals. After a few seconds, silence. From the dust emerged Tyger, shield in hand and sword at her side. She walked to Baldur's side, and was silent for a few moments before finally speaking.

"[censored] bees, man."

Baldur bit back a laugh by biting his tongue. She had done so well, he could hardly deflate her moment. While she had been fighting the <<Wasp Queen>>, her red hair flying about, it had almost seemed a nimbus of ginger energy had surrounded her for a moment. She was beautiful in battle.

"censored bees, Indeed." He held back the laughter and instead directed a proud smile to her. They had no only emerged from this alive, but unharmed. This was an incredible victory for the two of them. They had triumphed over their first boss.

Once again, Baldur held up his fist for her to bump, and then exploded it just like she had the Wasp Queen.

"You rock babe. In fact, I'd say you were the bees knees."

His eyes sparkled with mischief.

Tyger smiled at her companion, returning his fist bump with one of equal force. She made her hand explode afterwards, before laughing and grabbing hold of his hand.

"We made mincemeat outta that stupid bee, didn't we?"

She pulled Baldur by his hand to bump him affectionately with his hip as she turned around to walk way from the battlefield. His pun was amusing, but she was tired of bees. Hell, she was just plain out tired.

"I really realllly wanna go home now."

Sure, she'd been badass in battle, but it took it's toll. Her HP was full, but it was becoming hard to walk straight. Her health was maxed, but her energy was low.

"You chunk for basic attacks, man. You were ripping into that thing, and the normal bees- wasps, in general."

She'd give him that, it'd make him smile, hopefully.

Baldur smiled as she tossed him a bone, but he just held her hand as they walked back towards the village. He whipped his blade to the side in a practiced motion and then sheathed it.

"We got some good loot off of that Wasp Queen, but I already have the best loot drop in the game." He squeezed her hand firmly and then snaked his around around her so she could lean her head on his shoulder as they walked. It felt good to him that in some small way, she still needed him. She was going to be on the front lines soon, he had no doubt about that. She was going to make a name for herself. Maybe they would even be able to get into a good guild. He felt like they were well onto their way to achieving that.

"You were great today babe. You proved to me that together, we can accomplish anything. And that we're finally ready to move onto some of the higher level floors."

Tiberius Surge was put back into it's sheath, and she strapped her shield onto her back so she didn't have to carry anything. She put her head on his shoulder, happy for the chance. Her yawn was heavy, and walking eventually turned into trudging along back to the gate so they could go home.

"That's a poison you can coat your blade in and get some extra effects one match. So, you keep it and use it to add to your damage. You're gonna be a super high DPS for the front lines soon, once you get that katana."

Her voice purred sleepily as they walked. She melted into him as they continued, and yet another compliment was given.

"Thanks, but i'd still be there if it were just me. The point is that we're this awesome together. We're gonna rock those upper floors... just maybe not today."

Her sentence was interrupted with another yawn, so she finished and left it there. She definitely did rock today, but she didn't want Baldur feeling bad about it. He'd always loved the badass moments when they played games, so Tyger felt like she'd almost taken it from him. But, in this game of life and death, could she really afford to help by missing? It was an internal thing she'd have to think about once she wasn't so tired. She didn't want to be too obvious about it, and keep trying to compliment him. She wasn't sure what was going on in his head.

He leaned his head against hers as they walked, their pace a bit slower now that they were in sight of the village. He led her over to the teleportation gate and never once let go of her head.

"Let's go home, my ginger Tyger." He smiled at her.

"Town of Beginnings!" He called out and was enveloped by the white light of the teleportation, and when sight returned to him, they were in the massive square of the town on the first floor. Where her shop was. Where their home was.

Their home.

They were in this together.

That thought made him smile.

Pillows.

Covers.

Bed.

Just a few of her favorite things. You could throw in Baldur somewhere on that list, but right now, she was ready for sleep.

"Is it weird, that despite all of this, i'm actually still having fun?"

Yeah sure, there was the imminent death thing hanging over their heads, but for the most part, she was enjoying herself. Fumbling with the key, Tyger unlocked the door to her shop, and took her head off his shoulder long enough to get upstairs. Once Baldur was inside, she locked the door, and smiled at him, although sleepily.

"We really did it. Our first boss, and we walked away with full HP."

The thought kind of baffled her. She led Baldur upstairs, and crawled into bed lazily.

"Thank you for being here with me. I really don't think there's a force in the verse that can stop us."
