[SP-F1] Frank's Warning And The Journey To A New Life (COMPLETE)

Recommended Posts

Frank represents a monstrous, bipedal bunny with a skeletal bunny face. His voice is raspy and distorted, he has the ability to warp between the game and reality itself. However, he does not the ability to fight despite its grotesque appearance. Instead, he would become Kino's advisory, giving him hints on certain parts of the virtual game. Frank glares at Kino into his eyes as the player glares at him back, grinning like an insane man. The imaginary friend points towards the walls of the Starting City as the atmosphere suddenly goes silent.

"....your fate...will be sealed...they are..in great danger....", says Frank in his shrilly voice.

Kino tries to understand what he is actually saying about. The sentence seems...sinister, as if it is a warning or foreshadowing of a bad event. His fears are confirmed as he was transported towards the center of the town, the whole area is covered with a red digital dome, players' emotions are consisting of fear and confusion as they try to figure out what is going on. As the commotion rises, a giant hooded figure appears ahead of us at the surface of the dome.

"I am Kayaba Akihiko," says the hooded figure, mentioning that he is the director of SAO as well as the NerveGear itself. As he mentions about how players would die in real-life should they ever die in the game, reactions mixed with pain, anger, panic and sadness overwhelm the entire population of this death game. Frank stands beside Kino as he looks around the chaos in the center of the Starting City. Things becomes worse as the mirror that Kayaba asked us to view changes their avatar looks to a resemblance of their original looks in real life.

Some girls turns out to be male players, some young avatars turns out to be older players, and some of the pretty faces turn either ordinary or simply not appealing. The suicide rates in the game increases as part of the population could not bear the burden of surviving in this twisted world. 100 levels...it seems impossible as unspeakable monsters would be the main source of their deaths, should they ever be reckless in combat.

Kino quickly leaves as soon as Kayaba wishes everyone good luck and disappears. He hides away from the crowd in fear of bandits that might be already mugging players for equipment and Col. As he steps out of the alley he is hiding, Frank reappears.

"...what will you do now...?", says Frank.

Kino doesn't say anything, initially thinking about surviving in this world. However, the more he thinks about it, the more he realizes that...this is in fact...the desire he's been looking for.

Yes, he will be staying in the game from now on. He doesn't care how long will it take to finish the game. As these delusional thoughts plagues his mind, he laughs silently and creepily, this is where he will belongs. No need to live in a world full of filth and corruption anymore. This is a free world, he can do anything he wants. Apart from Kayaba, no players will have authority over him, for he is a free man.

Frank glares at him, knowing that Kino would be pleased to get trapped in SAO, rather than craving for home. "....be careful kino...your life is now at stake....go berserk...it is the key to victory....however...you must know the enemy...before slaying it..."

Agreeing with Frank's words, Kino starts running as fast as he could, making his way out of the city and heads to the plains. As the sun sets, his sprints becomes a little faster. Drawing out his swords, he sees a wolf running towards him as it is going to pounce him. He grits his teeth in anger, preparing to slay the creature in a stabbing motion.

Death has chosen one of the two cards. With a calm face, Kino strikes his weapon towards the head of the wolf, cutting through its brain as blood splatters out out its temple. The wolf's jaw manages to injure his forehead, although it isn't very effective. As its health decreases to 0, the wolf digitally explodes to shreds, Death has taken the Wolf as his new pet in the afterlife.

Kino receives two messages: one tells him that he has leveled up to 3, increasing the maximum amount of HP to 9, much to his satisfaction. He feels refreshed as he stretched his arms, apparently he seems to be enjoying himself here, his fighting spirit is rising in his veins as he looks forward for more fights. If he can kill mobs, he can kill players as well. No, this will not happen, he thinks to himself. Killing players is not his option, as it means that he has murdered someone in real life. He remembers how he used to be helpful in the younger days: helping out people, helping his mother with chores, and so on.

He brings his helpful persona into the game, imprinting it into his mind. He swears to assist the needy, to protect the lives of those who are in trouble, and kill those who are guilty. If the players are A-holes to him, he would instantly go berserk, but he wont kill them, just severing a part of their body is enough. If they do not give up on attempting to murder him, he will end their lives mercilessly. He decides who shall live and who shall die, but not in a godly manner.

As soon as he exits the level-up message, as well as acquiring a skill, he views the other message. It tells him the amount of Col and one bonus material. He could use the material to purchase a shield, or a weapon. He plans to go back to the Starting City to get himself new equipment.

As he is about to approach the entrance of the safe zone, he hears rapid footsteps approaching his back. He grips the handle of his sword, ready to attack the threat behind him. The opponent, which turns out to be a boar, charges up its small tusks as it launches its attack.

  • Rolled a 10 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 8 on the d10 (mob) dice.
  • Rolled a 14 on the d20 (loot) dice.
  • Obtained 15 Col.

<< Kino >> = HP: 9/9 --> CRITICAL STRIKE! How come his sword is drawn and attacks quickly like a katana? #2skill4me +3 DMG! (2 + 1)

<< Boar >> = HP: 3/3 --> The tusk scraps his arm, but sadly, Piggy dies again. Damn, it sucks to be a boar when you know you are targeted for your delicious, savory meat and pelt.

Instantly after the sword is drawn, its blade slashes the snout of the boar, killing it instantly as it only manages to scrap Kino's arm, decreasing his HP in 1 point, literally. The boar dies as Death takes its 'soul' and he takes it to the afterlife for a feast with his friends.

Kino obtained 15 Col this time, now he can buy a potion as well, if the price is ever cheap. He sheathes his sword and walks towards the entrance as the moon begins to rise, Frank appears and walks with him, glaring at him.

"...this world...is monitored by the director...correct?" asks Frank as they make their way to the center of the city. Kino nods in response to his question. He assumes that Frank has information about Kayaba.

"...Kayaba Akihiko is now disguising as a player himself...however know this...he is an immortal object, and thanks to his knowledge of all the mechanics of SAO, he is the most powerful player.....he is currently the leader of the top guild of the game....Knights Of The Blood Oath...."

"..." Kino stays silent, listening to his imaginary friend's statements.

"...he has an older face...dresses in white and red....and carries a sword and shield....i thought i would let you know of this director...hiding in the shadows among us..."

The thought of Kayaba disguising as an elite player disgusts Kino, he may have used it to manipulate the players into believing him, only to risk their lives during their 'adventure.' Although Kino has the strong desire to remain in SAO, the dreams of vengeance appears in his mind. He wishes to punish the man for his deeds, even if he is begging for mercy. However, it would also end the game, destroying it in the process. If this really happens in his life, he would have to say goodbye to his fantasy life. He hopes that some other company would have the same technology to create games like SAO, except that they don't involve players being trapped into a death game.

"....is there a way to defeat him....," Kino speaks in a quiet voice. Frank replies, "...i know not..."

Of course, finding a weak point or technique to defeat a godlike player isn't easy. He nods and soon, he finds himself at the center of the town, the number of players are getting lesser as they retire to their inn, some with scared looked faces. Other have already joined guilds to work together, to survive together as a team. But not for Kino, as he is ok with it. He is a berserker, after all.

Before setting off to buy equipment, he heads north and walks into an inn called 'The Purple Rhino.' An NPC approaches him and with a default smile, she asks him a question.

"Would you like a room for 10 Col?"

Kino nods and hands the correct amount of Col he needs to pay for the room to the NPC.

"The room is at first floor at your right," she says with a smile.

He nods again, walking out of the inn as he was already settled with the renting of a room. Now it is a good time for him to do some shopping.
