James is an American college student, working on a General Business degree back home to hopefully open up a small bookstore when he graduates. Managing to get into a university trip to Japan for about a week, James didn’t plan on anything more than seeing the sights and enjoying some time in a foreign country. However, while he was there he learned about a game that would be released while he was there, called Sword Art Online. A brief look raised his interest, and he snagged a copy of the game and a NerveGear between daytrips with the rest of his group. On the last day before they all flew home, after sending his folks one last email about his trip, James set up in a hotel chair, plugged in the helmet, and said two words.

>> Personality
Davven is a quiet, withdrawn student, who doesn’t want much out of life except security and peace of mind. In this deathgame, in between bouts of abject terror, Davven is focusing on survivability and protection, for himself and others. It’s taken a while, but he’s accepted that the only way out of this trap is to move forward, otherwise he’ll never be able to see the real world again.

 

>> Virtues:
Educated

While by no means a genius, Davven is fairly educated, proficient in English and Japanese, and enjoys learning new things. Davven has made a point of studying this world, trying to understand everything he can on the chance it could be useful later on.

Loyal Team-member

Given the lethal risks of SAO, Davven knows that the best chance of survival is to join and support a group of other players, for safety in numbers and a variety of skills. As a teammember, Davven is committed to the group.

Pacifist

Davven tries to find non-violent means of resolving conflict whenever possible, especially where other players are concerned. Given the death-game nature of SAO, people die if they are killed, and Davven wants to avoid that if at all possible. To a lesser extent this applies to combat in general, so Davven focuses on protecting his allies from harm and restoring any damage they take.

Meek

Trapped in a world where a single mistake or immoral player could mean death, Davven is cautious to the point of excessiveness. Rarely will you find him off the beaten path, instead focusing on what is safe and proven.

Solemn

Never the most outgoing or companionable of people, his time in SAO has caused him to keep a tight rein on his emotions. With those he knows well Davven can relax and try to enjoy himself, but it takes time before he opens up to others.

Pacifist

Terrified that someone could actually die by his hand, or that by his inaction a teammate could die, Davven has thrown his all into defense over offense. He will never strike the first blow, and only with the greatest of reluctance attack at all.
