[SP-F1] Running Out of Mats Again

Rebekah opened her inventory list of her shop yet again. She only had one mat left, just one. She knew that was going to be a big problem heading forward as her goal of becoming one of the top cooks in Aincrad will be stalled out yet again. She had gone through long periods of time not cooking, but she knew that mats were essentially more valuable than early a tiny bit of col in this game. The only currency that would allow her to get far, or even be able to have weapons made for her in the future.

 

After realizing all of that, she knew that it would be time for another one of her trips, as she had hoped to go around all throughout Aincrad to search for the best cooking mats that she could received. She would start on floor one, as it was where she had started her journey as a chef, even though she could repeat the <<earning a living>> quest, she wanted something more challenging, so she decided to go on an search by herself. As she left the floor, she made sure she had everything that she wanted with her, as nothing would be worst than realizing halfway, she would have to end the trip early.

She made her way into the familiar grassy fields once again, she was looking for boars, but not just any. She knew that the weak ones would no longer yield any experience nor mats that she desired. Instead she was looking for the bigger boars, which were a lot bigger, but not necessary a lot stronger, just a lot bigger. She had found something that she was looking for, and she took out her rapier to fight it before it could react.

However, the boar must have saw her, as it was able to dodge her attack, but it was able to stomp on her right foot right as it dodged. That had hurt as it put a lot of force into that rather weak attack. Thankfully, her armour mitigated a lot of that damage.

It had been a long time since she had faced a boar, and she was completely taken by surprised, but she knew that she had to be ready for anything. Rebekah often would commit silly mistakes in battle that would often cost her a few hit points, but it was nothing serious. She knew that in order to collect as many mats as possible, she would have to be as careful as possible since over time, every little hit-point lost here and there would slowly add up. It was more or less her approach to easy battles such as these that she needed to change.

 

She cleared her mind for a second before charging at the boar once again, as it was something that she had to do in order to refocus. This time, she was able to dodge the pig's attack and managed to land a critical as she struck her sword into the side of the boar. Now, this was more like the classic 'Rebekah' that had been around.

Her mind was finally at ease, for Rebekah, the first attack was always the hardest, and now she would like to get into a rhythm to maintain her momentum. She looked at the boar, and had felt bad for it, but she knew in this game if she did not kill the boar, someone else would. Besides they would respawn after a designated amount of time. Both Rebekah and the boar charged at each other yet again, and she remembered that the boar would likely aim for her lower body, specifically her legs, so she jumped at the last second to avoid the pig, while attacking with her rapier.

She could finally see the end in sight, but did not know if she was dreaming about what would happen. Rebekah knew that she had to find a large amount of materials, and that could take some time. She looked at the pig, there were plenty more of these around here, but did she just want a pig, or would she hunt for a wide variety of animals, or search for plants? It was something that she did not have the answer yet, but these decisions would influence on what she would make.

 

However, both Rebekah and the boar had missed their attacks. But that was typical of Rebekah, as her mind was already thinking the next step ahead rather than thinking about what would happen in the present. It was still her weakness that she had not completely fixed. Yet this was the type of thing that would cost her in a important battle for her life but would not haunt her right now.

Rebekah knew that this boar was really tough and is taking forever before it was going to die. While it was going to stall her progress of hunting for materials, she would rather continue fighting trying her hardest instead of just allowing her to easy finish it off. She was lucky that most of the monsters she had faced were programed to fight until the last possible moment, or else her life on this floating castle would become dull and safe.

 

Just as the both of them charged at each other again, Rebekah knew that a single hit was all she needed. It made no difference to her, whether or not the pig was going to slam into her, since the killing blow is often the most elusive one in her opinion. She had fumble the killing blow while fighting easy monsters a lot of times, and she knew that this was not the moment to let up. Her rest could come after the battle was over.

Rebekah took a look around for any more materials that would be dropped around this area. She knew that she needed to force the habit of searching the local surroundings for more just in case she might have missed one. She would have preferred one big trip as opposed to many smaller ones. As she knew that if she was going to spend most of the day working like this, she might as well, look for some more. She had a set goal in her mind, of how many crafts she was looking for from floor one. Of course, she was going to rotate between the floors as it is nice to get a different variety from time to time.

Rebekah had wondered, if she was actually the only person to run into problems over materials, but realized that everyone would be having these problems in the future as well. Since she was not the only one going on these trips, she had been on a few of these, with several other players, and knew that realistically nobody could be able to sustain a high enough pace to continue their profession until they hit rank 10. That was a goal to hit rank 10 for cooking, and as she looked ahead, she saw another boar, the same size as the previous one.

 

She knew that if she was going to run into a big enough monster for her, she was not going to hesitate, and that was what she did. She managed to pierce the skin of the boar, dropping it to just over half health with a single attack, before it could respond at all.

This was the second boar that she had seen today, but she was looking for something that was not a boar. She had nothing against boars, but after seeing them around everywhere, even Rebekah would like to fight something else for a change. Yet, she knew that her mind was now wondering away from her battle. However, she looked up and the boar had tripped over a rock, and was struggling to get back up. This was an opportunity for her to attack it without it reacting to her. Rebekah walked up to it and attacked it just as it was getting back up on it's feet.
