Calrex turned in surprise as he heard Teayre drop her weapon, seeing her curl up into the feeble position. He gave a small sigh under his breath, "Shoot not now..."

"I had no idea Teayre was this afraid of bats. I think its the first time that it's come up."

He quickly rushed over and knocked the remaining smaller bats that he begun to hover around where Teayre was aside. The chirping sounds seemed to die down before he heard a large swoop, turning to see the giant bat coming in for a strike. He quickly put himself between Teayre and the creature as he braced his sword arm with his free hand against the bottom of the guard. As the bat got into striking range he quickly knocked its claws to the side before piercing it in the gut. The bat quickly gave a few flaps to kill its momentum so that it wouldn't fall farther onto Calrex's sword before retreating back a good distance.

Calrex turned and crouched down by Teayre, grasping her falchion and helping her to her feet, moving behind the same rock they had hid behind at the start of the fight, "I'm sorry Teayre, I didn't know you were this spooked by bats. Stay here out of sight, I'll take this thing down."

With that he quickly stepped out from behind the rock, pointing his blade at the bat, "Depending on how Teayre decides to act, I might end up having to do the rest of this quest on my own. It's a good thing I'm strong enough to do so..."

As Calrex came over and began to protect her she slowly stopped rocking, her hand grasping out for her sword. Slowly standing up using the wall to support her, she grips her blade tightly.

“Cal… Cal… I’m… I’m sorry.â€

Her tears streaming down her face looking her beloved her jaw set.

"I'm sorry Teayre, I didn't know you were this spooked by bats. Stay here out of sight, I'll take this thing down."

“Don’t be sorry Calrex, I can’t… I can’t hide anymore I need to wake up… If I don’t fight for my life in this death game… Even if something scares me… I’ve got to fight… I’ve got to fight… For you… For me… For Liss… I can’t let my sister down, besides… I’ve got to get her approval on my boyfriend after all don’t I?â€

Letting a small smile show through, she gently places a hand on Calrex’s shoulder gently pushing him to one side.

“It’s time for me to grow up Cal,†Giggling her head tilts, “It’s time for me to stop being such a little girl… and... and… YARGH!â€

Shouting as she dashes forward she swings for the bat, her blade sparking against the wall again missing she beings a mad assault on the creature, no control in her strikes. Each wild swing missed, striking the cave around her causing sparks to fly off left and right.

“CALREX SWITCH!â€

As Teayre began her assault on the giant bat Calrex breathed a small sigh of relief, "It does seem a bit out of control, but at least this seems better than having her cower in a corner. Refinement will come with time."

He gave a small blink as he focused once again, looking over at the bat that was madly dodging Teayre's strikes. For being such a large creature, after so many wounds it still seemed to be fairly agile. As he watched its flight patterns Calrex picked his target, rushing forward. As he got just out of striking range he crouched and leapt forward, his sword at the ready.

As the bat kicked back it flew right into Calrex's path as he pierced the bat's wing, using his weight to slide down, leaving a deep cut along the webbing that connected it to the skeletal structure. As he exited out the bottom and landed the bat gave a few flaps as it began to flail slightly, the new lack of control over its flight disorienting it.

"Alright now Teayre! Switch!"

Not stopping her relentless assault she swung up as Calrex dashed past. “You…†Another strike another miss another clang, “Made me!†Swinging again she caught the other wing as Calrex ripped its other one. “CRY!†Stepping forward her anger clear in her eyes, “In FRONT OF!†Suddenly she stopped, breathing out she paused for a second as she spun on the spot her weapon whipping out decapitating the bat causing the red destruction crystals to illuminate the passage briefly. “Him.†The last word was spoken like a whisper compared to her shouting just a moment ago.

“Cal… I’m… I’m sorry about that. I… I lost control… I shouldn’t off… I’m really sorry.â€

Leaning forwards she begins to sob softly her hand covering her eyes, as she accepts the loot popup from the mob. Sheathing her weapon she quickly slaps herself before standing up right.

“Let’s go find the boy Cal, I don’t want to be in here any longer than we have to be.â€

As Teayre quickly dispatched the bat Calrex gave a small sigh of relief as he sheathed the Anneal Blade. As Teayre put her head in her hands he walked over, but as she slaped herself back to her senses he felt a bead of sweat form on the side of his head.

"Let’s go find the boy Cal, I don’t want to be in here any longer than we have to be."

"Right, let's get moving."

With that he bean to scan around, looking for any clues to the boy's location. The first was the shoe, so he guessed that there might be a path of some sort left behind that they could possibly trace, "Hm...nothing so far. Best be careful. If there was one giant bat there's always the chance of there being another around somewhere."

"I'll keep an eye out for any creatures in the area. Go ahead and focus on trying to find clues to Koran's location."

He turned and gave her a quick hug, "And don't worry silly. It's alright to know what you're afraid of, as well as recognizing when you lose control of yourself. Just make sure to learn from it, and use that knowledge to become stronger. I'll always be here for you, so there's no need to be worried."

As Calrex gave her a hug and some advice Teayre shrugged him off, glaring at him.

“If that happens during a boss fight… Then… Then… Then you might die Calrex, if you died because of me…â€

Her sentence fading into sobbing she hurries down the passage way a short ways before crouching low, looking around she found a second shoe, showing it to Calrex she begins to speak.

“Cal, it looks like we’re on the right trac-“ Stopping mid-sentence she looks around before standing up straight and darting in the direction of a some sobbing.

As she emerged from the tunnel a large cavern opened up before them, in a corner between two rocks she saw a large shape appearing to try to hammer its way into the gap.

“Cal, what’s between those rocks is it Koran?†

As Teayre brushed him off Calrex gave a small sigh to himself, "Maybe I approached that wrong..."

"Cal, what’s between those rocks is it Koran?"

"Hm?"

As Calrex looked, his eyes focused as he tried to discern the object the large creature was clawing at. He sighed to himself as he realized the creature itself was another giant bat. However, inside the gap, still a good distance from the monster, was what appeared to be a young boy hunched over in fear.

"Yeah, let's move."

He quickly drew his Anneal Blade and rushed in, aiming to get the bat's attention. As quickly leapt past, swinging his blade. Unfortunately it whiffed air, but as he landed he made sure to give a small tap against the rock face to draw the bat's hearing towards it. As it looked over at him Calrex nodded, "Alright Teayre switch!"

“Yeah, let’s move.â€

Running forwards Teayre let Calrex take the lead, drawing her falchion she skids to a halt on the other side of the bat to Calrex. Swiftly striking towards the bat it raises itself up dodging the strike. Sidestepping she tries to fit herself in between the rocks by the small figure. However the bat struck at her causing her to have to parry the blow.

“Cal, move it away I’ll grab Koran and try and get him out of here.â€

The boy looked up hearing his name, “Y-you know me?â€

“Stay down for now Koran, when I say run you run and stay by my side got it? No one else you stay by my side.â€

“But… But I don’t know you… you might want to kill me….â€

“Your mother sent us, it’ll be alright okay? It we’ll kill this bat quick enough Calrex will watch out for mobs as we get out. Now when I say the word okay?â€

The boy faded into silence except for the occasional sob, you could see him huddled in between the rocks softly sobbing.

The bat hissed and lashed out towards Teayre, who jumped back.

“Come on you poor excuse for a rat, come to me!â€

As Teayre began to help Koran Calrex gave a nod as he rushed in for another strike. He quickly kicked off the wall and prepared to cut across its abdomen, but this time the bat seemed to see if coming, shifting slightly to the side. As Calrex passed he prepared to land, when suddenly he felt his momentum end and something wrap around his body.

The bat had managed to grab him with its claw. He quickly jammed his sword between himself and the inside of the claw, prying it open so that he could get loose. As he did the bat's claw managed to get a quick scrape on his shoulder as he fell, "Alright Teayre switch! Careful this one seems a little more agile than the last."

As the bat caught Calrex with its claw, Teayre had it all flash through her mind again.  Looking over she sees Koran.

“Damn yourself to hell Teayre, get over your own fears or the same will happen to this boy.â€

Looking up she sees warning her that the bat is more agile, as she sunk away. Before shaking her head she shoulder barged past the bat and threw herself into the gap between the rocks on top of Koran. Hearing the screech of the bat behind, she hugged the boy with one arm as she clumsily took her falchion out of its sheath and raised it to the bat.

“I can’t… I can’t, Cal… I can’t do it … I CAN’T DO IT!â€

Tears streamed down Teayre’s face as she held her blade up to the bat who started striking her blade battering it from side to side. Watching it her eyes widen as the blade durability begins to drop.

“My blade… It’s going to… It’s going to…â€

Pulling it back in she manages to avoid her falchion breaking but only barely.

“Cal… Cal Switch!â€

Looking down at the boy in her arms smiling her eyes betrayed her however and words seemed to be as much for herself as for Koran.

"It'll be alright Koran okay? We'll get you back to your mum safe and sound."

Seeing Teayre dive over to block Koran from being attacked by the bat Calrex quickly used his <<Sprint>> ability and dashed forward, quickly closing the distance from him and the others. As he got into striking range he leapt forward and gave a strong swipe, just barely missing the bat. However, it was enough to get it to back off from the gap that Koran was hiding in. Calrex gave a few calming breath as he checked over at the two, "Teayre, is your sword alright? Those blows may have done a number on it."

He twirled his Anneal Blade and stabbed it into the ground beside him, "Go ahead and get Koran out of that crevasse. I'll keep this flying rat at bay. It's not a curved blade, but if your sword breaks use mine..."

He punched his hands together as the familiar yellow glow of his <<Martial Arts>> ability ignited around his fists, "My fists should be more than enough to take this thing down."

As the bat flew in once again, it tried using the same tactic it used on Teayre on Calrex. As it drew close Calrex gave a calming exhale, seeing the barrage of claw swipes coming at him. As each one got into striking range he threw his fist up, batting each claw to the side in a rapid counter-barrage.

As Teayre tried to exit the crevice that Koran and herself were hidden in the bat swarms up to the gap trying to block their escape. Letting out a sigh she closes her eyes for a moment before opening them all hesitation gone from her eyes as she brings her blade down left then right making the bat back up. Fainting a strike above the creatures head she twists her wrist and brings the faint in for a downwards cut, striking the bat straight down the centre. The creature backs off hissing at them before looking at the man in armour and backs off slightly. Looking back she grabs Koran’s hand dragging him out of the crevice she slips behind Calrex.

“Koran we have to move, NOW! CAL SWITCH!â€

Darting she takes the boy and makes their way back up.

“How’re your feet? Are they hurting?â€

Koran nods looking up at Teayre his face downcast as tears begin to form, gently she wipes his face clean. Gently hugging the boy she looks around seeing the bat by Calrex she sheathes her blade before turning around kneeling down.

“Want a piggy back then?â€

The mousey haired youngster jumped onto Teayre’s back as she lifted him holding his legs tightly as he gripped his arms around her neck.

“Right then let’s move. Cal we’re going, come on!â€

As Teayre managed to get Koran free and starting moving the bat tried to take a swipe at them, but was immediately interrupted by an incoming attack. As it had turned Calrex used his <<Martial Arts>> skill to punch his sword's hilt, sending it spinning at the bat. The attack impacted the bat in the stomach as Calrex leapt up, retrieving his sword and landing just a few paces behind Teayre, "Alright, we're clear. Let's go!"

"I think the cavern might be related to this bat's agility. It seems to have less stalactites hanging down, meaning it has more area to maneuver. If we lead it back into the cavern where the last bat was..."

"Teayre keep going and take a right up ahead. I've got an idea!"

As Teayre rounded a corner she ducked down out of sight, placing Koran down she turns to him placing a finger on his lips she brushes his hair out of his eyes whilst leaning in to whisper to him.

“Stay here and I’ll grab you in a moment okay? I promise it’ll be okay, I won’t be far Calrex and I just have to deal with the bat problem.â€

Smiling at him she rolls out of cover drawing her falchion keeping low waiting for the bat to appear. Her breathing became rapid as a screech came from behind her. Whipping around she squinted in the darkness and made out the figure of the bat, somehow it’d gotten past them. Cussing she charged at it her blade a whirl of steel as she ducked under its wing bring her falchion up through the wing. Red crystals flying everywhere she began to harass the beast with smaller strikes driving it back towards the entrance way Calrex would be coming from.

“It got past us Cal, take it from here I’m going to get Koran further away!â€

One last swipe with her blade caused the beast to back up, shrieking as Teayre turned tailed and sheathed her sword. Running past the spot she’d hidden Koran in she grabs his arm and tosses him over her back as she runs through the damp spiralling passageways. A left here, then a right she felt herself running up an incline as she dove into another out of the way part of the tunnel.

“Wait here Koran, it’ll be the same as last time okay?â€

Flashing her smile at him she ducked round to see the bat had managed to successfully follow them.

As Teayre set Koran down and dealt a strong blow to the bat Calrex gave a nod, "Sure thing! Keep going I'll keep it distracted!"

As he finished speaking he saw the bat at its eyes on him, quickly flying at him in a tackle. He closed his fist in anticipation of the attack, since the creature was too close for him to dodge. His fist light slight with a yellow glow as he threw it forward, but the momentum of the tale easily knocked his arm to the side as the bat slammed him into the ground veggie flying back up.

Calrex shook his head, knocking some pebbles of as he got back to his feet, "Alright, you're gonna pay for that."

The bat managed to beat Calrex back before coming after them as she drew her falchion again Teayre sighed, hoping that Calrex was alright hearing him shout out she firms her stance up gripping her blade before stepping forwards swinging missing her first strike as the bat flaps its wings flying up as she pivots on her foot to make another attack Beleram worms his way out of Teayre’s jacket.

“Beleram, take Koran and get him out of here now!â€

The eagle flapped its wings and gently took Koran’s hand in one of his claws and tugged him along disappearing into the darkness. As Teayre faced the bat stepping back slowly.

“Cal, Beleram’s taken Koran ahead. Let’s do this.â€

Darting tapping her blade on the walls at various points she unleashes a torrent of blows against the creature causing multiple lines of red crystals to fall from it. Her lips turning upwards in glee Teayre steps forward for one last slash as the bat comes in its claws catching her blade. A loud crunch resonated throughout the tunnels as her falchion snapped into two. Her hand dropping the remaining hilt of the falchion which vanishes in a burst of crystals before it hits the floor. Teayre ducks down dives forward rolling underneath the bat.

“CAL! TROUBLE! It broke my sword!

As Calrex recovered he saw Teayre rushing back to assist him. Upon hearing that Beleram was guiding Koran out of the tunnel he gave a nod, turning to face their opponent. Teayre had managed to score a hit on the creature, but Calrex's eyes widened as he saw her curved sword shatter. It appeared that after the barrage of blows she had deflected it had only enough durability for one more attack before it gave out. He cursed under his breath for a second before he saw the bat close on at his partner.

"Teayre get back!"

He rushed over and tackled her to the ground, but not before the bat's claw managed to barely graze her arm. As they fell Calrex quickly rotated his body, slashing the creature's leg as it retracted. As the two hit the ground Calrex made sure to place himself underneath to cushion Teayre's fall, letting out a small exhale to help absorb the impact.

"Are you alright?"

He quickly helped Teayre to her feet, stabbing his sword into the ground next to her, "It's not the greatest sword, but feel free to use it for now so that we can take this thing down."

He turned and flashed an encouraging smile, "Just a bit more to go. Let's take this flying rat out."

With that he turned to face the bat once again, going into his fighting stance, his fists alight with the yellow glow of his <<Martial Arts>> skill.

“I should be okay Cal, I’ve got my old blade cover me for a moment.â€

As she stayed behind the boy Teayre brought up her own menu and equipped her basic Falchion, her hand already by it as it started to materialise unsheathing it she put her foot to the floor and sailed forwards swinging her blade down. Her eyes went wide as the blade moved quickly through the air and connected with the bat striking it cleanly across the chest. Sliding under it Teayre rolled blocking the way forwards for the bat as Calrex blocked the way back.

“Cal, Now kill this thing and let’s get Koran back to his mother.â€

Setting herself down she plants herself firmly on the ground her teeth gritted as her chest rose and fell slowly. Closing her eyes Teayre sighed before reopening them.

“I wish they’d of adjusted to the light by now, guess I’ll just have to wait.â€

"Alright, that's good to hear."

As Teayre drew her old weapon and attacked Calrex retrieved his Anneal Blade from the ground, trying to slash the bat as he turned. Unfortunately by the time he attacked the bat had reeled from Teayre's strike, moving out of range. As he watched its movements he gave a calming breath, readying himself.

This time the bat turned to face him, flying down to attack. As it threw another flurry of swipes at him he quickly parried the strikes to the side, but a few managed to get through, lightly grazing his arm and shoulder. He quickly threw a kick to force the bat to back off, deciding to use his sword as a lure to keep the bat focused on him, "Teayre switch! Take it from behind!"

As the bat took a swoop at Calrex Teayre took a step back, her blade gently tapping against the wall causing the creature to twist and turn swooping towards her. Sidestepping one strike she brings her blade up and swiftly cuts through the bat before spitting on the crystals as it despawns.

“Cal, I can’t take you anywhere can I? You struggled to hit that one so muchâ€

Sticking her tongue out at him she briefly throws her arms around his neck, before planting a small kiss on his cheek.

“Let’s go check and make sure Beleram and Koran are alright, They’ve probably got themselves into trouble.â€

As the couple made their way up the slope a boy’s cries could be clearly heard, her blade still in hand Teayre begins to sprint upwards arriving at the top she spots several bobbing figures hovering around a small bundle in the middle of the floor.
