[SP-F10] The reason why

Recommended Posts

It was time to once again explore the void of floor 10, a lot of it had already been mapped out by the other front liners, they even found the entrance to the next floor. However Lifes journey was one of a different purpose, of a different cause. The crypts, the dungeons, all of it. Every floor there seemed to be one instance where he would find another alter. Another one of that wretches sacrificial tombs. She would pay for what she had done, for hurting Mari, for hurting him for the countless murders.... He punched the wall next to him. He was in tears. The road ahead of him lead to the floor portal. "Floor.. Ten.." Life appeared in the darkness that was floor 10, he made his immediate way towards the void. The place no one dared explore too deeply into as it could almost certainly spell their doom if they ever got caught in a trap.

He found the opening to the void, it was a crack in the dimension, a slit opening into infinite darkness. The darkness in the void made it extremely hard for him to see. He rubbed the back of his neck and began to explore not sure exactly what he was hoping to come across, if worse came to worse, he always had his last teleport crystal. As expected, the rumours of the void were true. It felt like there were echoes all around him, it was like... he was being tormented by dark whispers of the dead... and he could swear he could... he could hear her. He clasped the side of his head and collapsed to the floor, visions of that woman ran through his mind. It was a flurry of pain and memory and despair.. and then.. darkness...

His eyes slowly opened. He wasn't sure where he was anymore, it didn't look like the void at all.. what was this? He pulled himself up and scanned his surroundings. There was nothing but pure white. He took a step forward

*Splash*

He turned around startled, he couldn't see anything. Something however caught his attention in his peripheral vision, a shadow. He turned. Again, nothing. "WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON?!" He was cold, and scared. He didn't know what this place was, he looked down.. an endless pool of darkness. He stepped forward

*Splash*

The darkness followed him with every step. He began to walk backwards, away from the darkness. Terrified.

His fear began to increase and he didn't even know why.. the fear of fear itself? The darkness started to spread from where he stood. His slow backward stumble turned into a forward sprint, trying to outrun it. Then, a stop. A bump into something, or someone. He fell backwards and fell into the darkness, dark red eyes gleaming from the surface. Back to the void. He fell forever it seemed until he came to a stop. Not hitting anything at all. The darkness brought back memories of that time when.. he was alone forced to deal with... Why couldn't he remember her name? Then a small whisper.. a laughter growing louder and louder until his ears rang. It had to be her!

Everything seemed to settle and a room materialised around him, this couldn't be the doing of the void was it? He took a deep breath and calmed himself. He was a warrior and a warrior didn't falter or get scared.. but even then still.. The room was lit dimly by a row of torches along the walls. The walls seemed to be made of a dark metal and there were tables set up everywhere. He slapped himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming, the room slowly began to fill with a scene, a gathering of people. It was... it was the first feast he had been to.. back when he was still a noob at the game. He could see everyone from before. Lessa, Alkor, Rue, Kazuya, Argumail.. everyone even Tristan. Then, fire... everywhere. His mind was beggining to break again... he couldn't let himself snap.. but.. everyone.. everyone... they're all gone.. tears began to fill his eyes. "YOU BASTARD WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!?!" This is only the beggining. There she was.. it was sillith, that evil shriek was behind all this.. this suffering.. "ILL KILL YOU!" He charged towards the shadow and fell directly through it You made a mistake coming here Life, you'll taste fear!

Three health bars appeared around the shadow and its eyes glowed a furious red. Sillith couldn't afford to let a player like Life continue to survive and push through, she couldn't allow this world to end, her existence in this plane to cease..

Life wasn't prepared mentally for this battle, everything still hurt him and now he was filled with rage. All his memories crashing back to him like open flood gates. The shade in front of him was huge, it was an apparition of some sort resembling the slender figure that once took him under. Life charged once again at the boss swinging furiously at it in hopes to cut it wide open. The shade went transparent and he simply slid through it. He grit his teeth and turned back as its purple eyes smiled in wicked delight. It created a silhouette of a giant sword above his head and brought it down. Life jumped back and hovered in the air as the impact of the shadow sword on the ground created a shockwave of darkness that quickly dispersed. "That looked like it would have hurt..." He wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to kill it when it's hp was so scary high.

Life landed back on the ground and the shade didn't waste any time with a follow up attack on him. It bolted forward like a crack of black lightning and ran its hand through his chest dropping his health slightly. Life took this opportunity, not knowing if this thing could be hit if he wasn't and brought his blade across its body, dispersing the shadow. It reformed in behind him, causing life to jump forward to get some distance. He watched closely at the strange mob and noticed it's health in fact did drop. Life sighed in relief knowing he could indeed kill it now, and that was all the motivation he needed. The shade on the other hand still smiled intently, proud it had landed a hit on him.. it was almost as if it felt alive and was enjoying it's non-life greatly. Sillith was freaking insane, and he couldn't let this continue on.

Life didn't want his rage to die just yet, he wanted it to flourish, to flourish and be honed. He wanted to kill the shade with the very pain and suffering that it inflicted onto him. He darted forward and sent out a flurry of attacks at the thing in front of him, striking in multiple directions. The shade moved as easily as the wind but life managed to catch it out and cut straight through the thick of the shadow causing it to once again disperse. It reformed in the sky above him, if you could call it a sky, and launched its shadow arm towards him with great speed. Life rolled to the side, just narrowly escaping any harm from the giant shadow hand that clawed for him. It's health did drop again, and now he knew it was on. Life smirked as his lips shook with rage. "What's wrong. Aren't you good enough to take me down? COME ON! SHOW ME WHAT YOU'VE GOT!"

The shade's expression changed to one of sadness, like one of the sad masks from old theatre, then changed to one of anger. It was apparent that the shade Silith created was somewhat of a sentient mob, retaining some A.I that silith had and attempting to learn human emotion. It was scary when he thought about it. Life couldn't have this thing living and Silith couldn't have Life living. It was do or die at this moment and Life was to stubborn to die. The shade reached out to him in fury to strike at him once again, Life ducked the blow and ran towards the shade. It redirected it's hand so that the shadow would turn back around to stab him in the back but it wasn't fast enough and Life's blade began to pierce it's veil. It went transparent again, not taking any of his damage and it's attack also didn't deal any damage. Life was beggining to understand the shade a little bit better now, he jumped back to gain some distance and gathered his thoughts.

Life knew this was going to be a long and strenuous battle but he also knew that he was going to win no matter what. His battle healing already had kicked in and he was nearly at full hp again. Though something told him that this was a bit to easy. The shade did have 3 health bars and if he learnt something from the hydra and other bosses, it was that when bosses dropped to low hp, the cardinal turned into an asshole. Though the cardinal he felt was much different to what this shade and silith ran off, it was like they have grown apart from it able to do whatever it was they liked, not so much the shade that was, but silith was definitely a problem. Life lowered his stance ready for the shade to attack him, he was going to counter blow in order to get some damage in, that always seemed like the most reliable way to get hits in. The shade did attack again, this time with it's full body in a ghost like assault. It seemed as though it was trying different strategies but none was working for it very well. Life turned his chest to the side and it completely missed. Life raised his weapon as it glowed and brought it down hard on it's back, causing it's shadow body to split in two and disperse, taking damage and reforming just a bit further away. He smirked and taunted the shade with a tugging finger to come at him again.

Life felt a lot more confident in his attacks now, he knew he would definitely be able to land a hit on it. He charged forward and it floated back. Life was to fast and cut it clean open before it could have any kind of chance to move. It's expression was distraught and in pain, it wasn't looking as though it would be able to cope with the pain but he knew it would, Silith would make it fight. "Is this how you treat your children silith?" There was a long pause as both the shade and Life stopped moving. "You force them to fight. Even when stricken by more pain than they can bare?" Still no response.. "I know what you've done here.." The shade howled and sprung for him with its arms high in the air. Life stared up and scoffed at it's bold attempt to hit him and simply stepped back as it dropped onto the floor. It swiped at him in multiple directions and life dodged them with minimal effort "Hate without discipline is weakness" Life knew himself that the shade was simply an A.I and so he didn't really care what it felt, but he knew that Silith did care, but there was no word from her.
