Reu rushed forward but suddenly the Ice Elemental launched it's area of effect attack again. This time Reu was once again caught up and trapped up to his waist in ice. Frustrated, Reu felt he could do little from here. To make it worse, the attack had been a critical and Reu's health bar ticked lower and lower.

Using the hilt of his sword to break himself free from the ice prison, Reu erupted out and launched an attack immediately. He felt his blade rip into the ice beast, and then used his armor to absorb the counter-attack. Sensing that victory was close, Reu continued to press, relying on his battle healing ability to patch up some of his wounds. This battle is nearly over, Reu thought to himself.

Reu used his continued pressure to deliver the final series of strikes against the Ice Elemental. In what seemed like a matter of seconds, Reu was suddenly standing in silence, only the sound of his battle healing ability going off interrupting the peace and quiet. Suddenly, his menu went off and the loot drop appeared. It was a rare item! Reu was delighted to see another solid hunting drop. Looking over the item, and it's specs, he realized it was an extremely rare damage-boosting crystal, it would no doubt be very valuable in the future.

Sitting back on his haunches yet again, Reu took a breather. He was tired; extremely tired in fact. The second ice elemental had been easier, but it was still going to be an uphill battle from here on out. That first monster had really wrecked him, Reu thought to himself. Reu decided it would be best to stop and search the area for materials before continuing on his quest. Taking a good look around, Reu found some ice shard materials which would be used in blacksmithing. He walked over to the shards and using his sword, managed to break several free. Once he did so, the 'Collect' prompt appeared and he added them too his ever-growing supply.

Watching his health bar continue to tick up, Reu decided it was time to start moving towards the next Ice Elemental. Looking ahead, he could see the next one at the top of the snow drift on the far hill. Sighing, Reu started making his way towards it. With heavy footsteps, Reu felt the snow crunch. All around him, the snow blew stronger and stronger. It seemed like the winds would change with every step and so no matter how Reu attempted to shield his face, snow found its' way in.

 

All Reu could think about was just how cold he was...

As he reached  the top of the next hill, Reu could see that the Ice Elemental was facing away from him. Deciding to take advantage of this, Reu readied his sword and rushed in on the attack! Reu brought his blade screaming down across the monsters back-side, ripping it asunder. Screaming in agony the creature attempted to counter-strike, but Reu easily avoided it with little trouble. A fantastic opening play!

Pushing forward, Reu felt confident in his next strike. His sword ripped the creature wide-open and sent its health bar down to fifty percent! Reu easily ducked under the return strike, and felt the warmness of his battle healing ability as it healed his wounds. So far, this was a fantastic start to things!

Diving forward, Reu narrowly avoided the area of effect Ice Breath attack the monster possessed. This was after Reu had attempted a flying somersault with quadruple spin backflip slash attack, which had, sadly, failed miserably. Luckily, the snow was a soft cushion in which he was able to land with ease. Reu was determined however, that next time he would land a strike successfully.

Pushing himself up out of the snow, Reu ran forward, launching a viscous attack! His blade ripped the beast's side, but Reu suddenly felt his blade trapped in the ice. "Uh-oh", Reu thought to himself, knowing what was coming. Sure enough, a large icy foot smashed into Reu's chest; critically wounding him. As he landed butt-first in the snow, Reu felt his battle healing skill desperately trying to patch up the wound.

Suddenly, the ice monster was staring down at Reu. Fumbling with his sword, Reu dropped it. As he went to grab it, the Ice Monster blasted Reu with it's ice prison area of effect attack. The prison trapped Reu to his waist, and Reu sat there helpless, wondering if he was about to die.

Frantic, Reu broke himself out of his prison. Not wasting any time he charged the monster, ducking under its attack, he delivered a quick horizontal cut, which felled the beast. His menu popped up with his rewards, 100 Col and 1 Material. Not a bad find. Reu silently collected the goods and looked out over the frozen valley. Everything was still, the valley was quiet the only disturbance being the sight of falling snow.

Reu continued his trek through the snow. If you'd look behind him, you'd only see his footprints for a short ways before they disappeared in the snow. Looking ahead, you'd only see more and more white out in front of him. Around him was simply falling snow and increasing cold. Still Reu knew he must continue on. Willing himself to take step after step, the miles he was traveling began to add up. Reu didn't mind, he was used to hiking back in real world; here it was just the slow march of a man with a mission. Reu liked that, having a mission. It made the boredom seem meaningful. It gave the exploration purpose. And so, he would continue on his exploration route, hoping to find more and more creatures to kill.

Wanting to check for more materials, Reu stopped and searched the area. Looking at a promising area in-between several stalagmites, Reu looked closer. Getting down on his hands and knees, he wiped away the powder snow, revealing only dirt ground underneath. Frustrated, he stood up and wiped himself off. It didn't look like there was much in this area, and so he turned his attention back to his trek, and kept on keepin' on.

Forcing himself to continue on, Reu suddenly spied another Ice Elemental ahead, however it also spied Reu. At once, the two warriors of arctic cold charged towards each other. Doing so, Reu felt how heavy his steps were in the heavy snow. Each step and the snow was getting higher and higher on his body. Slowly, he was up to his knees. Realizing he couldn't move, Reu forwent an attack to instead focus on defending and managed to successfully evade the ice creatures attack. Looking down, Reu realized just how sunk in he really was.

Still unable to move, Reu decided he would need to attack from where he was. He waited until the creature was close enough and then swung his sword out. Lucky for him the Ice Elemental was mostly a melee-type, and so being trapped where he was, wasn't as big a problem as it could have been. As he swung his sword he felt himself make contact, and then ducked the return strike. His dodge was a success! Elated, Reu prepared his next series of attacks in his mind.

Keeping the monster tied up in close quarters, Reu again launched a frenzied series of sword strikes. Struggling to move in the snow, but showing off excellent sword abilities, Reu felt his blade ding the monster again and again. The monster in a mixture of pain and frustration lashed out without any type of regard for its footing and tripped in the snow, now Reu was standing above the Ice Elemental. His next attack would certainly take advantage of the situation.

Leering down at the monster below him, Reu inverted his sword, and drove it into the beast Joan of Arcadia style. Still, not being one to slow down, Reu immediately performed a graceful back-flip over the monsters attempt to swipe at Reu's legs. Happy with the amount of damage so far, Reu couldn't help but find himself wishing the battle healing ability would kick in, he would need the health boost if he wanted to keep farming these nasty ice elementals.

Despite his graceful exit from the previous round of attacks, Reu drove himself forward recklessly on his next attack and, for all his trouble, tripped and landed in the soft snow. The monster looked to capitalize on this, and started lashing out with it's giant frosted paws, however Reu's armor was more then thick enough to get him through the onslaught. Reu found himself guarded up against the beasts attack, unable to move, but at the very least, still keeping himself safe from damage.

Still not able to do anything besides cover up and avoid damage, Reu did just that, relying on his armor to keep him safe. Thankfully, his armor was well-made and did exactly that. Reu may not have been able to attack, but he also wasn't taking damage, and that was just as important. He played another defensive round of combat, wanting to wait for his chance to strike back.

Finally, Reu had his opportunity. He flipped up, and drove his blade straight into the Ice Elemental's stomach. Retracting the blade quickly, he prevented it from being captured in ice, and then finally, he side-stepped the attempted front kick from the ice elemental.
