Located in the large fortress city on the seventh floor known as Nimbus is a small humble forge. Entering in through the front doors of the stone building, you find yourself in a medium size room. Surrounded by manikins clad in armor and racks full of weapons, you notice that all the wears in this shop bare the mark of the hawk. Taking a closer look around the room, you notice a set of stair leading upwards, with a sign that reads "Roof top Forge". Approaching the counter in the back of the room, you notice a stack of order forms along with a pricing guide. On the right side of the counter is a box for the order forms to go once filled out by the customer.

Stepping out onto his roof top forge, Kurou grabbed some ore from his storage and began the process of smelting them into ingots. Once the impurities had been removed and all he was left with was was molten metal which he poured into molds. Once cooled he took one of the ingots and began the process of heating and shaping the material into the desired form. After a good amount of time, he heated the item one final time before dunking it into water, allowing the metal to harden. Retrieving the item from the trough, he held it up to the sunlight and inspected the dagger.

Grabbing another ingot from one of the molds he had made, he set heating and reshaping the item yet again. This time however he planned to create a sword. Taking special care with the process, he delicately folded the steel, increasing the strength of the blade. Pulling the sword from the water after completing the hardening process, he was angry to see the blade had cracked.

Grabbing another ingot from a mold, Kurou decided that he would make another attempt at smithing a sword. Pounding out the shape of it on the anvil, while repeatedly applying heat to the steel. Kurou struggled to create the proper shape for the sword. Retrieving the sword from the trough after hardening it was obviously bent and misshapen. Well this isn't going to do anyone any good he thought to himself.

Walking into his forge, Kurou decided that he would get a head start on today's crafting. Grabbing an ingot from a large pile of them that he had created the day prior, he set to work at the anvil crafting a sword. Deciding he would try his hand at making a two handed sword, he was excited to see how it would turn out. Standing there inspecting the item, it was obvious that he had pounded the steel to thin. "Well this is like swinging a hard piece of paper" he though to himself.

Picking up another ingot, Kurou decided that he would try making a spear. Not having much experience though, he was unsure of a good technique for forming the material into a cylindrical shape. Deciding to just do what came natural to him, he was disappointed to see that it came out all wavy and lumpy.

Pounding away furiously at his anvil, Kurou was having trouble getting this particular ingot to shape correctly. Maybe I made a mistake in the smelting process he thought to himself. Even after super heating the metal until it almost turned into a liquid, it still wouldn't form correctly. Lifting the item in order to inspect it, the sword was lopsided and wavy. 'This just won't do." he said as he tossed the item into the trash.

Deciding that he would create some new ingots, Kurou grabbed some ore and began the smelting process. Pouring the molten metal into the molds, he allowed them to cool for a short period of time before beginning to shape one while it was still red hot from the smelting process. Pounding out the metal, this item was turning out different from all the others he had made before. Inspecting the item after dunking it into a trough to harden it. The blade appeared to be almost perfect. I'll have to name this one he thought.

After having his greatest success yet at the forge, Kurou was inspired to continue his work. Grabbing some more metal he quickly shaped the pieces into a sword. Wanting to make this sword as precise as possible. He took special care to make the blade balanced from blade to hilt. Man, I'm really getting good at this he thought to himself. Polishing the blade up so it was nice and shinning, he began to think of a good name for it.

Bringing over some more metal to the anvil, Kurou quickly heated it and began the process of turning it into a weapon. Deciding he would try his hand at crafting a katana, he remembered reading a book about how they used to fold the steel.  Attempting this method, it wasn't long before he could tell his attempt had turned into a complete failure.

Grabbing two ingots, Kurou decided he would try his hand at crafting up some daggers. Pounding the metal out flat, he once again attempted to fold the steel multiple times to add strength to the blade. Looking down at the metal before him, it appeared to be wavy and uneven after his attempt at the folding process. Placing the metal into the furnace he decided he would try and heat the metal and pound it out flat. However as much as he tried the blades never obtained a proper form.

Pitching the ruined daggers aside, he noticed a notification icon on his HUD. Clicking on the icon it appeared he had gained a crafting level even though he had failed the crafts. Nice he thought to himself. Having unlocked the ability to make shields with his new rank, Kurou decided he would try his hand at it. Grabbing some metal and pounding it out into the shape of a square, he quickly attached some leather straps to it for grips. Not to bad for a first attempt he thought to himself.

Although he was happy to have a shield, Kurou decided that he wanted to craft up a better one for himself. Pounding out the metal, he also he wanted this one to look nice as well. Shaping it into a kite shield instead of the standard square shield he had made before, he was pleased with the progress he was making. Grabbing a chisel he began to engrave the outline of an eagle on the front of the shield. Unfortunately however, he must not have hardened the metal properly because he ended up putting the chisel straight through the shield.

  • 3 weeks later...

Grabbing the last of the metal he had in his shop, Kurou decided he would make one last attempt at crafting a better shield for himself before he had to go gather more materials. Recreating the process in which he used to make his first shield, he hoped desperately that he would be able to approve upon in order to make something of a higher quality.  In order to facilitate this he made minor changes to his process along the way, adding things that he though would make it better. To his dismay however, the shield turned out much worse then the first one. On the bright side though, he was still able to salvage the material which would give him one more attempt before having to go gather mats.
