[PP-F4] Snow is Cold <<Avalanche>> (Ahti) {Complete}

Snow covered the ground as it usually does in the small town of Snowfrost on the 4th Floor. Jomei had just accepted a quest from an old hiker just outside of the town. Word has it there there was a large iceburg sitting just inside the entrance to an icy cave. This mysterious cave was located up half way up a mountain, known simply as Snowy Peak. He smirked as he thought about when he shattered a boulder using his fists, so he figured this could be a similar situation using his <Martial Arts> skill. He thought he could handle the quest on his own, but he decided it would be more fun to have some company. He lifted his hand to open up his hud. Through the fog that was escaping form his lips, he moved over to his friends list. Scrolling through, he thought about who he would like to invite. He stopped on Ahti and smiled. “It would be nice to see her again after our trip to the desert..†He nodded, and sent a message to Ahti:

 

Hey there. Was wondering if you’d like to go on an adventure with me. Meet me in the plaza on Floor Four... if you’re not too scared.

He sent the message off with a chuckle, and waited for a reply. He sat down on a nearby bench and shivered a bit, rubbing his arm. It was quite cold on this floor, definitely a change of temperature from the last few floors he has visited. Luckily he had his new <Duelist's Leather Battle Jacket> on to keep him somewhat warm.

Ahti was sipping tea down on the 2nd floor with a friend when she got the message. Reading it over rather hastily she quickly accepted the party invite and quest and left for the floor teleporter. "A worthy Challenger for the great Ahti! I will smash this foe!" She said aloud as she teleported up to Snowfrost- IMMEDIATELY regretting this decision as it was cold as all hell. Doing a quick warm up, she watched as her tattoo glowed, weapon glowing red hot and heating up the air around her with joy; was a great new armor and weapon set~ Walking down past the teleporter she saw Jomei sitting at a bench. "Oi, it's way too cold, I suspect it a direct result of the Bureau's tampering with this world; let us defeat this challenge hastily, so I can get back to my tea!"

Jomei lit up as soon as he saw that she accepted the party invite. He was honestly surprised that she accepted. He quickly stood up and made his way over to meet Ahti as she was walking towards him. "Hey there Ahti. Thanks for coming." he smiled. "Right, now... Our target is up there." He pointed towards a mountain. It wasn't too large, but was enough of an enduring hike for the two of them. He turned back toward Ahti, "Think you can handle it?" 

 

After that, the two of them made their way out of the town and towards the base of the mountain. Walking through the frost covered trees, the sound of snow crunching under their boots. Lucky for them, there were not many enemies in these fields. Those that they saw, they easily avoided. "Over there." He pointed to a path at the bottom the mountain that would lead them up to their destination.

She nodded, and drew her blade, the aura of heat it was giving off a nice reprieve from the cold as they headed for a path up the mountain. "So is this some sorta snow shark? Pfht, that would be a funny sight to see." She let out a laugh as they started what she hopped wouldn't be too long of a tromp up the large mountain pass. Her blade ached for combat, and she eagerly sliced some of the passing snow banks, watching her blade heat up and melt trough the piles of frozen water. "Galaxy Slicer is too strong for this evil snow monster!" A fake laugh followed the statement, though she kept it a bit queiter than she normally did, looking up at the mountain, an avalanche was not wanted out in the middle of nowhere.

Jomei laughed at her remark. "Hah! Or an ice shark." after a light chuckle, he shook his head. "Honestly, I'm not sure. I was told there was a large block of ice. Not sure if its a monster." he shrugged "Or just a big drink cooler." He chuckled again. He watched as her sword sliced through snow banks. He noticed how her sword melted the snow as she cut it. He grinned at her as he sliced an X in the icy side of the mountain, the snow slowly melting seconds afterward. "Think you're the only one that can do that?" He said mockingly to her. "My Summerthorn can get pretty hot too." 

He heart a light rumble and small cracks from the ice he had slashed at. He stepped back as a couple small pieces of ice crashed down into the snow where he once stood. A bead of sweat dropped down his cheek as he laughed nervously.. Don't show off here, you tool... You might get her killed.

 

As their trek brought them further and further up the mountain, the snow fall became heavier, and the wind stronger. Visibility was dwindling. He called back to Ahti. "Oi! You alright?" He squinted to try and see her. The sound of her boots in the snow told him she wasn't too far behind.

"Hmm, I'm doing just great. Cold, wet, and unpleasant feeling, but I'm not gonna die, not in a place like this~" She said, before smacking headfirst into a massive cube of ice. A few seconds of rubbing her nose and she got a good look at what she walked into, before turning back and waiting for him to catch up to her. Stating, "Is this is? Seems kinda mundane for an entire quest objective."

He squinted, looking up at the large block of ice. The blizzard conditions started to fade as he got to the clearing. It was just as the hiker had told him, "..a large block of ice blocking a cave..." he whispered to himself. "This has to be it." He walked up beside Ahti and looked up at it. It had to be about 15 feet high. He placed his hand on it. Freezing cold. He pulled back quickly, thinking his hand would freeze to it. "Jeez.. this thing is colder than the snow."

He thought back to that boulder that he broke again, and looked at his hands. "Stand back, Ahti." He said to her, more protective than showing off. He put away his sword and took a deep breath, closing his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he stepped forward, punching the block of ice as hard as he could, using his <Martial Arts> skill

As the punch landed on the block of it, it shook. The snow from the top of it slid down the side. 

"Heh.. just a couple more punches like that an-" before he could finish, he was interrupted by a low grumble.

The block of ice raised up and turned around the face them. ".... I guess it.. is a monster."

He watched as the monster groaned and raised its large, icy fist into the air.

"Look out!" Jomei yelled, as he grabbed Ahti's arm and dove backwards, dodging the monster's attack. 

He quickly stood up and drew his sword and shield, turned to Ahti and grinned. "Heres that powerful foe you were looking for."

Seeing hi step in front of her, she reached out, grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back a bit. "I'm not some pretty little wall flower for you to protect, I can handle myself" she said, almost offended by his actions, before swinging her sword back behind her and leaping at the towering hunk of ice. Galaxy Slicer bit in deep, the burning hot metal making steam as it cut through, and Ahti hopped backwards, holding up her sword like a shield and prepared to deflect the incoming counter attack away from her.

Jomei looked embarrassed "S-Sorry, I just.." He looked up towards the monster, whom had just groaned from being sliced by the hot metal of Ahti's sword. His face tensed, and he went into his battle stance. He ran forward toward the Avalanche and sliced at its leg, piercing it slashing at it in an X formation, and then piercing through the middle of the x.

The monster groaned again. Before Jomei could react, it pulled its large leg that Jomei had attacked back, and let it fly forward. Jomei's eyes widened  and he raised his shield as the large block of ice smacked into him. The blow knocked Jomei off of his feet, tumbling backwards. Jomei grunted as he looked up to see where her had attacked the monster. Steam was coming from where the monster kicked him, and  some of the ice started to water, for the effects of his <Summertime Blaze> were taking effects. (1 DMG THRNS)

"Be careful, maybe I should take point, I have better armor!" She said, stepping forwards and taking an upward slash with her heated blade at the behemoth. It cut deep once again, sawing into it's body with a wide arc, and leaving mist behind it. She took a side step and held her sword behind her, watching as it started to heat up once more, the air distorting a bit. "With out hot weapons we must be doing bonus damage to the beast!" she souted out with a grin.

Jomei was back on his feet, he sprinted past Ahti as she hit the floor after her attack. He grinned at her. "Heh, in your dreams."

The monster tried to step on Jomei, stomping into the ground. Jomei took that as an opportunity and took two steps running up its legs, before kicking off of it and slashing it across the chest and landing back in the snow on the other side of it. "Maybe next time you can take point."

The ice beast looked around, trying to find Jomei, who had disappeared just as quickly as he attacked. It looked straight at Ahti, and slid towards her. Being made out of ice, it glided across the mountain side with ease. It delivered a giant uppercut, hitting Ahti with his fist.

 

"Ahti!"Jomei yelled as he watched the girl get hit with the large ice block.

She got smacked straight upwards, being launched into the air. Grinning she spun it in a circle and hurling herself higher intot he air, before coming down like a comet down at the iceberg, with a vengeance. Her blade missed, but she landed right onto it with her feet, before hopping backwards. The blade started to practically screeching as she held it behind her; all of a sudden opening up, massive waves of heat pouring out of the center of the blade, glowing blue with heat. "It was just a glancing blow, I'll be fine~"

Jomei nodded when he saw Ahti land and that she was okay. "Good, would've been a shame to see The Breaker slip on a little ice cube" he grinned. He held his sword back and ran toward Avalanche. The beast turned to look at him, and looked like it took a large deep breath. He felt the cold air get sucked into the belly of the beast, yet Jomei still ran forward.

The beast exhaled, blowing a stream of blistering, icy wind in Jomei's direction. 

Jomei sidestepped back and forth, dodging the icy winds.

Once he got to the front of the beast, he thrusted his sword forward in an attempt to stab its leg. However, the beast stepped backwards, the one large step being enough to avoid his sword.

With the large step back, Ahti jumped forwards, her massively heated sword hurling towards the ice elemental, trying to carve it into into ribbons. But the attack missed once again. Ahti held up her sword to deflect any incoming attack at her. 'Bring it on! A Slurpee can't stop me!" She yelled, taunting the boss to focus off of her companion.

Jomei watched as the beast brought its leg back in an attempt to kick Ahti. Nows my chance, he thought.

He ran forward to where it now stood on one foot. "Cant move now can you?" He thrusted his sword forward, piercing the ice monster's leg four times. The sword pierced through the ice and created little bullet hole like wounds, surrounded by small cracks.

Jomei's stab into the Avalanche's leg caused it to lose its balance a little bit, causing its attack to weaken only slightly. Despite, it still brought its leg down, swinging it towards Ahti. The kick connected with her sword and sent her sliding back in the snow.

She was knocked back, skidding through the snow, before charging back forwards, chopping her blade downwards in a sharp arc. Digging deep, the blade let off a last of heat while inside of the monster, knocking both the Elemental down onto it's back, and Ahti backwards, watching her blade cool-down and close up. "Didn't see that coming you frozen bastard!" She looked to her blade as it cooled down, patting it on the side before slinging it over her shoulder, preparing to dash forwards and continue her assault.

After Ahti's attack, the ice monster began to tremble, while letting out a loud road. Suddenly, the blocks of ice it had for hands and feet each formed into long lances made of solid ice. The monster itself also became much slimmer than its original form. 

"Oh.. Didnt see that coming.." Jomei said as he grit his teeth.

The monster began to dash around the combat area at faster speeds.

Jomei watched as the monster transformed, and began to slide around the mountain side at incredible speeds. 

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, listening to the sound of the ice gliding on the snow. He quickly opened his eyes and spun around, the elemental had snuck up on him.

The two began exchanging blows at high speeds, blocking each others strikes. With how solid the ice was, it sounded like metal on metal. 

Jomei found his opportunity when he dodged the Avalance's lance hand rather than blocking it. He jumped onto its arm, and proceeded to jump higher up. His sword began to glow gold like sunlight. "Take this!" He yelled, as he punctured the monster with an 8 hit combo. He dislodged his sword from the monster and did a flip, landing in the snow. The beast roared in pain as Jomei smirked.

She watched as the monster started dashing around at high speed, sitting perfectly still, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Deciding it would be best to prepare she moved her blade to hang behind her, watching as her shoulder tattoo glow red, and her sword unfold once more, heating up to a much higher level. As it skated around almost gracefully she closed her eyes, trying to feel for the fast moving fall of snow and cold.

The monster had stopped circling the two and stood still, sitting in a defensive position rather than trying to attack again. Its arms flattened out, turning into large shields of some sort. "Hah. He's gettin' scared now!" Jomei said with a laugh as he bashed his sword against his shield. "Lets see who's defense is stronger."

He took off running at the elemental, who after shrinking its size, still towered over Jomei. With the right timing, he may be able to make his attack count. He ran with his shield in front, and jumped at the monster. He bashed his shield into its own, breaking its guard. As its arms opened, Jomei thrusted his own sword forward. Hitting it in the chest again. 

He turned to Ahti. "Can't keep up?" he said with a smirk and a wink. Turning back to the elemental, who was recovering from the attack, he said "Lets finish this together."

She nodded at him and leapt her burning blade directly into the elemental's chest, digging deep and standing there on top of the sword, before it started whining and whirling, causing the monster incredible pain from the inside out. After her blade cooled off she hopped back behind Jomei and yelled allowed "Switch!" While propping her blade on her shoulder and preparing to deal another attack if it didn't go down.
