[PP-F4] Feeding The Enemy: A New Friend (Calrex)

Youno arrived on Floor 4, and smiled at the winter wonderland, she saw the gypsy women from nearby, and looked around for someone to adventure with. She fixed her beginner's clothing and equiped <Darkened Edge>, her best sword. She looked around for a player to assist her. She started to fiddle with her hair, taking a step closer to the npc, she looked around again.

(Sorry it isn't long, will be longer in future)

Calrex gave a quick hug to Teayre as he headed out of the Amethyst Boutique, giving a sigh as he wandered about the streets of Snowfrost, "Looks to be yet another busy day for her. I guess since she's currently the only active artisan in the shops that certainly bringing a lot of attention to her."

 

He looked down at the Amethyst Bangle that was wrapped around his wrist, the Grand Riptide gauntlets surrounding his forearms as he looked around the area, "I guess I should find something to kill some time for the day. I wonder how Tak and Hikoru are doing since we finished that quest..."

 

As he rounded a corner he looked to see what appeared to be a fairly lower level player standing over by an NPC, fiddling with her hair, as if nervous about something. Giving a small sigh he walked over, putting on a friendly face, "Hi there, did you need a hand with something?"

(At Airport)

Youno overheard a voice, and she jumped in the air, she dropped her hair, and turned around, her eyes were wide, a rather higher level player was in front of her, she stood back up. Giving a respective bow, she spoke, W-well, i was looking for someone to help me with this quest I overheard about.... She ran her eyes over Calrex, and instantly decided she could trust him, he seemed as if he had nothing to do, so she added, Wanna help? She knew only a couple things about the game, and she could use all the help she could get. She gave a rather large smile, I am hoping to get the quest: Feeding The Enemy, from that npc over there. She jabbed her finger in the direction of the gypsy npc, however throughout her whole display, she kept one hand on her rapier, just in case she needed it, you did not know what could happen in this death game....

"Hm...Feeding the Enemy? Yeah I've gone on that quest a few times already, so I'm familiar with how it works. Here, Roc..."

 

In a flash of blue light his blue peregrine falcon familiar materialized in the air before descending down and landing on his forearm, "I actually met my associate here on that very quest. His name's Roc, after the mythological bird of prey."

 

With that Roc hopped off of Calrex's arm and landed on the ground before beginning to wander around on his own, "In any case I guess introductions would be in order. It's nice to meet you, I'm Calrex. If you need a hand I'd be happy to help. I'm guessing that you're looking for some kind of creature found in the wintery setting of this floor?"

 

"Hm...she does seem a bit on edge, at least if she's still got a hold of her weapon. I guess she's not aware that we can't actually fight each other within the settlements without initiating a duel first."

Youno watched in delight as the bird came forward, the corners of her mouth were tugged into a smile, as she stared at the beautiful Roc, He is beautiful... She noticed him looking at her hand on her rapier, but she did not move it, instead she said, It may be safe in town, but this is a DEATH game. I have learned my lesson not to be careful. Her mind was full of memories of her best friend, before she shook her head to clear it.

Youno then smiled, Yeah, I am looking for an animal in the snowy winter known as Floor 4.

She was looking for a rather rare animal, but she would love his help, If you are fine with helping me.... i would love your help. She stuck out her hand for a handshake, Y- Youno froze, You idiot! You almost said your real name! She kept her smile, I mean, your known as Calrex... I think I heard of you before! I go by Hasai!

Youno then looked back at the gypsy, Should we get going? I still have to accept the quest.... however, with the other hand, she wasn't asking for a handshake, she pulled down her menu, and invited Calrex to a party, Guess we will be working together for a while.

"Hasai, good to meet you. I don't know how you've heard of me though, I'm not trying exactly to be high profile heh."

 

"Although probably more on edge than needed. Well she is just starting out, so it would be better for her to be overly cautious than overly relaxed. Nonetheless the inability to attack within towns is absolute. Unless you're being careless it's virtually impossible for someone to kill you in here without your consent. It's more out of the towns that one would need to be more careful."

 

Accepting the player's greeting and handshake Calrex gave a nod as he accepted the party invite, nodding to Roc. The bird took note of Calrex's gesture as he took off into the air once again, hovering a few feet above. As Hasai handled the quest details he made a few swipes on his menu, the Grand Chariot armor trading out for his casual combat clothing, the full body deep-sea blue metal encapsulating him as the stoic appearance of his helmet replaced his friendly expression. "Alright, I should be all set to go. So what animal was it you were looking for in particular?"

Youno gave a wide smile, as she walked over to the npc, with Calrex....

Youno clicked the <o>, and saw a small screen pop up.... 

STARTED: Feeding The Enemy.

She shrugged her shoulders, So the food, turns into whatever it needs to be? She said, I would know, when I see the animal... I am acutally hoping to find a rare type of owl. It is a frozen flame owl, it is white, with frozen flames. It's talons are just as sharp as a sharpened sword, and It's beak is very hard. It is a rare creature, that likes to be around a frozen glade. Out in the wilderness... It is a bit of a hardship, but it just sounds perfect to me. 

She gave a smile, and looked around, I have only been here once before... Is that weird? I am thinking of setting up a shop on this floor later.... She gave a wide smile, slowly growing more used to Calrex, so she removed her hand from her weapon, as she looked out, Are you ready? I am ready when you are.

After Hasai accepted the quest and explained the type of creature she was looking for Calrex gave a nod, "The quest can be a bit depending on who takes it, but I believe that should be correct. I found Roc here on the second floor, so I guess the way the quest functioned was a bit different. In any case if you have the food on you we can get started making our way towards the Frozen Glade."

 

Hearing her speak about thinking of setting up a shop Calrex gave a smirk and a nod, "This floor appears to be getting more and more interesting. More than a few people I know have set up shop here. I wouldn't be surprised, since it is a pretty neat floor to have a business on."

 

Following Hasai as the two began to make their way towards the gate Calrex gave a calming breath as he used his <<Reveal>> skill to make sure there were no ambushes lying in wait, "In any case what profession did you decide to take on?"

Youno smiled, Well, This quest can be accepted on any floor. And Roc is a cutie! When Calrex asked her what profession she was taking on, and suddenly felt shy, Almost Everyone chooses it... But I decided to be a blacksmith! I already have a custom order from someone, for when I set up my shop! She gave a small smile, It is the only thing to remind me of my best friend who died... She was a blacksmith in real life..... And She was my only friend in this game..... And in real life. Anyways! Let's get going! I hate dwelling in the past! Youno started to head towards the frozen wonderland before her, she went through the frozen trees, and the snowy pines, and looked back at Clarex, Where do you think a Frozen Glade will be?

Calrex gave a nod as he followed alongside Hasai, listening to her speak of her late best friend, "I'm sorry to hear that, but at least it's nice that you're carrying on her memory in such a way. If you're in need of someone to give you a hand with the finer points of blacksmithing I know the owner of the currently most popular blacksmithing shop. His name's Oikawa and he runs the Gurando Foji on the first floor. He's a pretty friendly guy, and he's actually made all of the gear I currently carry. Although..."

 

He gave a couple of casual pats on his chest plate as he continued speaking, "This one was actually a gift from my fiancee. It's kept me alive through many battles I've encountered."

 

As his teammate inquired about the location of the area they were looking for he went through what he knew of the fourth floor, "So far from what I remember I can't recall aly particular area I've been to referred to as Frozen Glade, but I'm guessing it might take an appearance of a field that's been frozen in ice."

Youno smiled, as she heard Calrex speak fondly of his friend, and his fiance. Once she heard that he had a fiance, she thought of the guy she enjoyed being around... Vaan... I can't like someone! I barely know him! She shut out all the thoughts that were swarming in her head, and she smiled, Oikawa made my sword. I haven't used it yet, but I would love to learn some things from him! That is soooo cool! I bet she wants you to stay safe and protected. She must love you! She had great visions of her shop, and even in the real world, it was her dream to open a shop up... Not necessarily blacksmithing, but she wanted to open up a shop, that was cutesy. She then turned back, It sure does sound like that! We should look! Would it be in the open? She referred to the Frozen Glade, before she looked around the winter wonderland, before looking back at Calrex, I bet you that you and your fiance will be the best couple ever! Maybe I could meet her sometime! She looked back out, keeping her eyes peeled as they walked and talked. She felt a bit more relaxed, but then heard a rustle. She quickly drew her sword, and turned to face the noise. She went down into a stance, that meant she was ready, and watched as a weird mole/rat thing came out. It had red eyes, and sharp teeth. She watched as it looked at them.... It was a small thing.... She waited to see what it would do, and when it went back to nibbling on the grass, she stood back up, S-sorry.... That spooked me... Normally I would have been able to hear it. My senses are sharp, but when I get relaxed, they lessen, and they dull.... She looked back at the devil rat-like thing, and wondered if it would be a problem.

 

Youno then turned back to Calrex, to wait for him to respond to her question/comment. She adjusted her outfit, from being a bit spooked by the rat, but kept her sword drawn, and ready in her hand. It's dark blue blade gleamed in the frosty sun, and the light blue outlines glowed with brilliance, the hilt was a midnight purple, while the handle was a black. She was not ready to sheath it again, in case the animal was bad.

"Heh, yeah she really does, and I'll definitely be sure to introduce her at some point."

 

As he noticed Hasai go on alert from a small woodland creature he gave a nod as he gave a calming breath, "Don't worry too badly about being on full alert right now. My skill set allows me to see through the area like it were transparent, so I can easily give more than enough warning should there be any enemies lying in wait to ambush us. As for that Frozen Glade, I'm pretty sure its accessible at all times. If it's not occupied with monsters, however, is yet to be seen. If anything I can be sure to attract and keep their attention on me."

 

He released the Grand Blade from its hilt lock, but not enough to fully draw it as he kept on guard, his <<Reveal>> skill making sure there weren't any nearby enemies, "Looks like there aren't any monsters spawning for quite some distance away. There's nothing at the edge of my skill's vision, so we're still in the clear. If we keep our speaking volume fairly low for now we shouldn't attract any enemies in the meantime."

YOUNO:

 

Youno let out an instant sigh of relief at Calrex's words. She spoke, I cannot wait to meet her! She smiled,  Hmm.. I actually wonder where it is... She had an idea, Hang on! She instantly started to climb a nearby tree, and made it to the top very quickly. She stuck her head out of the top, she looked around, and gave Calrex a symbol with her hand, that meant I am looking for the Glade! She looked around, and her eyes rested on a shiny area in the distance, about 1 mile away, she quickly climbed down, I see something around a mile away, Should we head over there? She was excited, she had never had a familiar before, but she always met up, and thought animals are special. She then turned around, and faced the area she saw it, It was that way! She whispered quietly, and then she sheathed her rapier. What she did not expect, was the rat, to leap at Calrex. Youno let out a cry of alarm, she knew this thing was bad! She unsheathed her rapier again, and was ready to strike the critter. He was powerful...

The devil critter clawed Calrex's face, and let out a hiss of rage, These people invaded my territory they will die! I am after all, very powerful compared to them! I growled at Calrex, he was stupid, to think, his 'reveal' skills are good enough to see my power.... He then flicked his tail, still latched onto Calrex, causing the effect: <<Poison>> To take place. He let go, and landed on the ground, he stood up on his hind legs, his teeth were ready to strike.

Calrex looked as a strange rat/mole mix monster leapt out and made a couple of scratches on his face, "Well, aren't you a little surprise."

 

He looked as the creature leapt off of him, recognizing the green liquid poison icon next to his name, "Huh, well that's certainly new to me for this floor. Nonetheless this isn't something we can't handle."

 

Giving a calming breath he drew the Grand Blade as he prepared his <<Howl>> ability, the light blue aura chains surrounding his arms and legs as he raised his sword high. After reaching a climax of momentum he slammed his sword into the ground, the sound resonating and amplifying from the chains exploding in all directions. The resonating sonic boom-like sound made the rat lock onto him as Calrex gave a smirk, "Good, keep your eyes locked on me."

 

"Alright Hasai, go for it. Like I said I'll keep it's attention."

Youno felt her energy surge through her, as she watched Clarex, she lunged at the rat/mole, and lunged, she jabbed her rapier at the Devil Raole Rat, and hit it. She dealt 6 dmg points, and she did a small trick, as she made her way behind Clarex. She waited for the rat to attack, and spoke, Switch! She stayed behind him, ready to go in and attack again.

DEVIL RAOLE RAT

He kept his gaze fixed on Clarex, but then felt something prick him, he was small, so it wasn't as good as it would have been, if he was bigger, but he still looked back at Clarex, Time to kill! He lunged at Clarex, and bit down hard. Considering his armor tasted terrible, the raole took advantage, and bit down on a bare spot, causing one dmg, He has good armor... That makes all of this ten times harder.... Maybe I should attack the weakling? But this one is the one that is a challenge, I feel an urge to stay on this kid.... He let out a hiss, and he ran his claws against the ground, his tail lashed back and forth.

Calrex nodded as Hasai successfully struck the rat as he twirled his Grand Blade into a reverse grip as he rushed forward, giving a calming breath. Since the rat was still focused on him he gave a smirk as he rushed by, delivering a passing slash as he slid through the snow, turning to face the monster once again, "That's good. We should be able to wrap this up fairly quickly and get back to looking for Hasai's familiar animal."

 

With that he kept his eyes trained on the rat, awaiting its next attack.

Youno gripped her rapier, and went at it, making a combo hit, she caused the raole to take 7 damage. She gave a small smirk, she still needed a good weapon, but this would work! Maybe she could get Oikawa to make her better armor, which will help add dmg and accuracy! She narrowed her eyes, as she watched the rat, the rat's eyes were trained on Calrex, as she attacked, and let out a squeal, it felt cornered!

 

DEVIL RAOLE RAT

The rat hissed, There is two of them, and one of me! What do I do? What do I do? He let out a growl, as he lunged at Calrex, he had to hurry and take one down! Upon his fury, and terror, he missed the attack, and he landed on all fours, cowering.. They were powerful... What do I do!? Maybe I could run... But would I get away? He tried at it.... The rat fails, on his first attempt.

As the rat leapt and missed him for the first time Calrex gave a calming breath as he quickly used his <<Sprint>> ability to close the distance, the Grand Blade at the ready as he delivered three strikes in quick succession, with the first two being a right to left and left to right horizontal slash before he slicked his arm into a stabbing position, piercing the rat as he leapt back, flicking his sword into a reverse grip as he kept his eyes trained on the monster.

 

"Alright, let's keep up this pressure and this rat will be down in a few more hits."

Youno did not understand why she did not attack again, something was holding her off... She felt her eyes glow a bit, as she saw a frozen burst of air gleam in the sky, she noticed the rat ran, and she turned towards the gleam, she outstretched her hand, C-Calrex, I found something.... I think it is the Frozen Glade...

The Raole ran away successfully, Why am I running?!? I hate these people! I thought they would be easy prey! He ran underneath Calrex, and ran into a bush, to escape.

As the rat took off Calrex looked in confusion for a second before sheathing his sword once again, giving a calming exhale, "Well, that's certainly the first time I've ever seen a mob run away. All of the other times I ended up having to finish them up to get the monster's to back off."

 

With Hasai telling him she had found the location they were looking for Calrex gave a nod as he followed her hand, looking in the direction she was pointing, "Well, that's certainly something I have not seen on this floor."

 

He gave a calming breath as his <<Reveal>> skill activated once again, the trees and hills surrounding them turning transparent as he cleared the area of enemies before giving a nod, "Well, best not keep standing around here right? Let's see what there is to be found over there."
