About: History

Rachel is in her second year of College – attending the Birmingham Southern College in Alabama, she is majoring in Asian Studies; and eventually wants to teach English in Japan. The college offers an exchange program with the Kansai Gadai University; and although she has average grades she jumped at the opportunity to participate, in hopes that immersing herself in the country will help accelerate her grasp on the language.

Rachel was only supposed to be in Japan for 6 months. Studying the language at the Kansai Gadai University. It was meant to be a simple, life changing experience – too bad for Chieri, that it was life changing, just not in the way she expected…

During a day trip to Akihabara – the college group was able to secure a place in a virtual arcade; to test out a new VMMORPG known as “Sword Art Online†Rachel enjoyed games, but she wasn’t exactly the best with Multi Player Online Games, thinking that her time could be better used elsewhere, and she was not a fan of the subscription fees games expected you to pay. She loved the old classics like Final Fantasy XX , and beat rhythm games – but this was a whole new experience for her.

Since she was new to the whole thing, she wasn’t sure what to put as her screen name. So she decided to use a name she saw on a billboard somewhere. ‘Chieri’ They were only meant to be there for a short 3 hour sesson; it’s been a long time and that session is still in progress.

 

Random Mannerisms:
**Rachel cannot drink anything with ice in it, she is super susceptible to the cold, and brain freezes
**She fidgets a lot; especially when she is meeting someone new for the first time - she will avert her gaze and isn't able to look intimidating people directly in the eyes.

**Absolutely HATES people chewing with their mouth open, and it's one of the few things that will make Chieri very angry.

Virtues:

Loyal: Loyal? Or Stupidly stubborn? Rachel when she finds either a group of people, or someone that she can feel an affinity with, she begins to remain steadfast and loyal to them. Often times this gets her into trouble, as she will refuse to see them in any negative light, ignoring their wrong-doings. This is a valuable asset to some people, as her unwavering diligence is something many desire.

Hard Working: Rachel believes that to get anywhere in life you need to put one foot in front of the other and work hard to get there. Once she sets her mind on something she will do it, and do it to the best of her ability (even if that ability is lacking) sometimes she will forget that she cannot do something and it will result in her getting flustered, frustrated or annoyed - but she will still persevere

Innocent: Rachel has what someone might call ‘rose coloured glasses’ she sees everything with a positive spin. She sees things at face value. This could also be considered a flaw, as it makes her quite Gullible and naive. Her innocence and good natured spirit has been refereed to as 'somewhat refreshing'. She is idealistic and assumes there is good in everyone.

Flaws:

Indecisive:  Rachel is a follower, not a leader. She can follow instruction well, but when placed in a situation where she needs to lead she struggles to take command, which makes one wonder why she chose to study a profession which requires just that. Rachel is unable to make clear, effective decisions in a timely manner, and it will often result in her faltering. This comes out in such aspects as multiple choice questions, or which way to go, even as far as 'what do you want for dinner?' such questions fluster Rachel, and she outwardly points out she is more than happy to just do whatever someone else wants to do.

 

Klutz: Chieri means well, but she is clumsy, figuratively born with two left feet. It's why her part time jobs in the waitress industry failed miserably. Her customers often wearing their food rather than eating it. She managed to get decent tips, from people feeling sorry for her, and having a soft spot for the 'clumsy girl' arch type. This translates to other things too, such as her stumbling with her words, her organizational skills, and more.

Gullible: Chieri is quite gullible, she takes things at face value and doesn’t always understand that there are more devious natured people out there. She believes most the things she is told and has no reason to question them as she has not had many people lie to her in the past. Trickery, fake things and alterior motives are things she does not understand.
