About: History/personality

Kayden was born in Japan, but is not of Japanese descent. Rather, he comes from a German bloodline. His parents moved to Japan a year before his birth to work at a well-paying law company, and became fond of Japan, deciding that it would be their permanent home. Kayden was raised mostly by his mother, because she worked less than his father did. But she worked long hours frequently, so was still left to do as he pleased for the most part. He spent a large amount of time trying to deal with dyslexia, which had only really been noticed when he was around the age of nine. During school, Kayden hung out with the unpopular students, because most others seemed to dislike him. During lunch one day, he met a girl named Haruki, who quickly befriended him. The thing Kayden loved the most about Haruki is that she did not make fun of his dyslexia, like others did. After a few months of talking and visiting each other, they started dating (with the parent's consent, of course).

 

Haruki had introduced him to the world of gaming, which he had previously had no interest in. Soon, the two could be found playing games in their spare time, and talking about them all the time. Haruki mentioned to Kayden that a new virtual reality game was coming out by the name of Sword Art Online. At a week before the release date, they had finally earned enough money to buy the game. After the week passed, they bought what they would need and, as expected, began playing. Once it was revealed that they could not escape the game, Haruki ran off. When Kayden finally found her, she was standing on a cliff. He approached her quickly, but was not fast enough to grab her and drag her to safety, and so was forced to watch her jump to her death.

 

Kayden was horribly upset, and thought about taking his own life for a while. Then he realized that there may be others in despair, and realized that they would need help. He promised himself that he would help every player he came across from then on, and would survive SAO for the sake of Haruki.

 

Virtues:

Determined - Kayden is determined to survive SAO. He refuses to lose hope, even when players die. Kayden is focused on becoming stronger, so as to guarantee his survival, while also being able to help others survive as well. He feels that he has to survive SAO so as to let Haruki's 'soul' will live on.

 

Selfless/Benevolent - Kayden seeks to do good things for others. He will help players with any issues they have, if he is capable of doing so. And he will sacrifice his own comfort and possessions to do so, regardless of the issues it creates for him.

 

Patient - Kayden has learned that beating SAO will take a while, at the current rate. This has developed in him the ability to wait, and not rush things. Kayden knows that he will have to wait a while longer to be on the front lines, and will train himself thoroughly beforehand.

Blunt/Tactless - Kayden sees no need to beat around the bush, and so states what need be said immediately and without avoidance. This has made a few people angry at him before, because he will speak the truth, but do so in such a manner that he could offend others.

 

Overemotional - Kayden feels very strongly about other players, and will go from happy to sad (or even angry) if something bad happens to anybody in SAO. This can hamper him in combat, especially if an ally is lost mid battle. This trait stems from him losing Haruki, and not wanting to lose anybody else.

 

Dyslexic - Kayden can read and write, but is sometimes unable to grasp a word here or there. He has found himself in situations varying from awkward to dangerous because of his dyslexia, and is bound to be in another situation at some point in time.
