  » Full Description: Max is a boy of just below average height and about average weight. His body is not enviably toned,  

  nor is it particularly weak unshapely. Although he is a little stronger than he appears, being able to wield a two handed great

  sword without falling over. Max's hair isn't exceptionally long, but it is rather shaggy and wild looking and falls into his ever

  focussed bright green eyes. He seems to wear a permanent frown and looks constantly displeased. He is an attractive fellow despite

  his inability to smile though.

  » History: Maximus David Owens was born on October 31st, 2004 to account Simon Owens and his wife Miranda who

  worked part time as a painter. He was the eldest of two children, the younger being his little sister Sarah. Even as a child, Max

  was always the thoughtful one, thinking before he acted and being considerate of others. He was polite, well tempered and

  disturbingly calm at all times. He never put up a fuss, never threw any strops. Max was a detached little boy who found it

  difficult to interact with the real world. Video games became a way for him to pretend to be somebody else and actually 

  express himself. The sandy haired teen would often stay shut away in his bedroom for days on end, much to his parents alarm

  and dismay. Sarah seemed to be the only person to hold his interest long enough to coax her elder brother out of the virtual

  world. 

 

  When Max discovered SAO, he was instantly intrigued and bought the game. Upon discovering the awful death game

  situation, the boy handled it relatively well, although he would much have preferred to keep his original avatar. The only

  drawback is not seeing his little sister anymore, which he misses. 

 

  » Personality: Max has always been extremely detached, even from a very young age. He finds it hard to empathise with

  people and can be quite selfish, be it unintentionally. He is exceptionally polite and well mannered and comes across very

  considerate and well cultured in his discussion, but this is mostly an illusion. He hates conflict and prefers to leave the dirty

  work to others, although in the virtual world he seems to have taken more of a shine to it. This boy always thinks before he

  acts, although he can sometimes become a little too caught up in the details in what he should be doing and ends up putting

  things off and procrastinating. 

 

  Despite being appearing a little apathetic, Max is not at all unfeeling and is not a sociopath. He just takes a little longer to

  realise what a particular emotion is and sometimes does not recognise what he is feeling at first. When the occasion calls for it,

  he can be sweet, funny and maybe even charming if you're lucky. He's quite the social charmer, even if his heart is a little cold.

 

  » Virtues: 

  Patient Â» Max knows when to wait, and he knows when to watch. He is not easily frustrated and is capable of sitting and waiting for  

  the thing that he needs to appear, although he is also not overly hesitant and will not wait to do what needs to be done. He is aware

  that good things come to those who wait, which makes him exceptionally good at having the fortitude to go out grinding all day long.

 

  Smart Â» This boy is a clever one. His intellect can come in incredibly useful on a variety of occasions. Especially when it comes to

  people. Well, less of people and more of conversations. He knows how to get information from people without them realising it and to

  make others feel comfortable around him. However, while this might be a virtue for him, Max tends to use his abilities for unscrupulous

  purposes and can't see they're unethical.

 

  Does the right thing eventually Â» Max is not a bad person, he just happens to do bad things without realising he's making a mistake.

  When push comes to shove, he'll always side with the good guys and make the right decision, even if it's with a little mental kicking

  and screaming. Whilst he doesn't really understand why, he would always leap to help somebody whose life was in trouble with a

  monster.

 

  » Flaws: 

  Devious Â» Darkness holds its place in Max's heart, even if isn't completely predominant. He is prone to bad behaviour and is quite

  willing to play around with people's feelings if it means getting what he wants. He's still the bad boy and tends to leave a trail of

  wreckage wherever he walks, usually the hearts of people who trusted him.

 

  Arrogant Â» Trusting in your own abilities is one thing, but Max has a slightly overinflated egotistical view of himself and even though it

  doesn't always display itself in his conversations because he's smart enough to hide it, this is one of his most serious flaws. He thinks

  himself more important than the majority of humanity. 

 

  Sadistic Â» This is the nastiest side to Max's character. His general lack of attachment with most people has resulted in a lack of caring

  for their importance, and he rather enjoys inflicting pain upon others. Max finds it amusing to hurt people he deems less than worthy of

  life, which are usually the people who make him angry.
