Zelrius 0 Posted July 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2015 The saturday afternoon started like the last 4 had. They had met on the 5th floor and in a sand arena. Jomei 0 Posted July 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2015 Jomei stepped into the battle area, his boot slightly sinking into the sandy ground of the all familiar Fifth Floor. He wiped at the sweat that was accumulating on his forehead from the head with a light groan, "Of course it had to be here..." he mumbled under his breath. Jomei's gaze moved to right above him, where he saw his owl companion, Adere, swooping down and perching on her owner's shoulder. He gave her a smile, "Looks like you're gonna get to fight with me this week after all," and he scratched her on the head. He turned back to face forward, noticing his opponent. He smirked and raised an eyebrow at the blonde haired girl, recognizing the woman as Lessa. He was not aware she was in the fights as well, he knew a couple of people had dropped out.. so maybe she was replacing them. Jomei had previously met Lessa on the Ninth Floor, where she accompanied him on a quest. "Well, didnt think we would meet again under these circumstances." He lifted his hand to open up his inventory, and with a swipe of his fingers, his rapier materialized onto his waist. As the blade settled into place, Jomei grabbed at the handle of the rapier and nodded to Lessa, "In any case, good luck lass." Lessa 1 Posted July 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2015 As her opponent came into view, Lessa blue eyes widened. "Ah, my favorite Irishman!" She greeted, her gauntlet-clad hand giving Jomei a small wave. "You couldn't have arranged a meeting on a floor that wasn't as hot as hell?" Her good-natured smirk signified that she understood he had no choice in the matter, just as she didn't. If she had, they would be fighting somewhere that was below ninety degrees Fahrenheit. This was only the red swordswoman's second battle. Memories of the first constantly threatened to overwhelm her senses, but she shoved them back with all of the force she could muster. Later, she might sit on the edge of her bed, her head in her hands, as she finally allowed last year's battle to replay in her mind. But there was no time for that now. Lessa was a new woman, and she would have to stay strong if she hoped to prove that to everyone else. And to herself. "Hey Zel," she called out, waving her Claymore in his direction. Her smile grew, a forced barrier as she fought back less pleasant emotions. "Ready to get this party started." Finally, her attention swung back to Jomei. "Good luck." {[25045] 3. Lessa 1 Posted July 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2015 "Well, if you're not going to start things off," Lessa gave the man a mischievous smirk, "I'll go ahead and do it." Her boots slid across the slick sand as she lunged toward her opponent. Long, powerful strides closed the space between the two warriors. The muscles that climbed her arms rippled as she brought Hell Rose from her left hip to over her right shoulder, slashing at the space where Jomei stood. Unfortunately, her attack was was a bit too slow, and the boy had just enough time to step back, and out of immediate danger. The only thing that her blade found was thin air, and in dramatic fashion, she failed miserably. "You're lucky that I was only warming up," she shouted goodnaturedly, steadying herself into a defensive position. There was a lingering frustration that stemmed from missing her attack, but her common sense kept her from dwelling on it. Better that you get that awful attack out of the way first, a voice reassured her from the depths of her mind. The next hit will be even stronger. {[25143] BD: 1. Failed. Epic fail. Jomei 0 Posted July 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2015 "Aye Aye... The heat is no fun" Jomei said with a chuckle as he stopped walking towards Lessa, crossing his arms. As Lessa drew her sword and addressed Zelrius, Jomei figured it was time to start their fight. He drew his own rapier from across his body, swinging it in a figure eight formation before holding it at-the-ready by his side. Jomei's eyes peeked over to his owl companion, whom he gave a slight nod to, before moving his gaze up to the timer that was about to hit zero. As the time ran out, signifying the start of the duel. Jomei looked back to Lessa, who began to quickly tread through the sand holding her large sword in two hands. Jomei glared at the girl as she closed the distance, bringing her sword upward. Jomei quickly pushed off the sand and stepped backwards, to avoid the claymore. {So, a rapier against a large claymore eh.. this could get interesting.} Jomei needed the be fast if he wanted to stand a chance against Lessa's heavy swings. That being said, once Jomei landed on his feet after dodging Lessa's first strike, Jomei activated his sword skill. As his sword ignited into a gold aura, he thrusted it forward quickly. His blade met its mark, smashing into his opponent's armor. From his blade came a slight wave of static electricity, which caused Jomei to smirk. The strike had activated his Glaciem Ingis' paralyze skill. "Warming up, eh?" Jomei decided to have some fun and tease the girl "Cant wait to see you at your full potential then" he smirked and gave her a wink. Lessa 1 Posted July 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Lessa grit her teeth. Though she was paralyzed, she could still move her face. That also meant that she could use her mouth. "Paralyzed, huh?" she commented tartly. Then she sighed. "Ah well, I suppose I should have seen that one coming." It was a strange sensation, not being able to move. Lessa's muscles tightened, and she willed her arms to swing through the air, but her body simply would not obey her further. Instead, her blue eyes followed Jomei as he prepared for his next attack, a freebie if she had ever seen one. Her jaw worked as she braced herself for the hit that would soon follow. She was fortunate to have such heavy armor, ensuring the boy would not be able to deal much damage even if he did strike her when she was helpless, and at point-blank range. But that did little to lessen the sting of first missing, and then being paralyzed. {Paralyzed.}
Jomei 0 Posted July 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2015 After Jomei made contact with Lessa's armor, he stepped back. When he saw Lessa struggling to move her body, he let out a slight sigh of relief from his nostrils. He was new to this sword, so he was still getting used to the rapier's paralyzing effects. He needed to take this fight the same way he did with Calrex; if he were to let up for one minute and let his opponent gain the upper hand, he would be finished. Jomei let out another huff of air as he brought his sword back up and lunged forward at Lessa, striking his blade against her armor again. As the sparks flew from the metal's clashing, another wave of static passed onto her armor, claiming her a victim of a longer state of paralysis. Jomei seemed to furrow his eyebrows for a moment, almost looking disappointed that his opponent would not be able to move for another turn. Lessa 1 Posted July 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2015 "Seriously?" Lessa wailed. She did not even have the opportunity to change her position before she was paralyzed again. "Are you kidding me?" Her blue eyes narrowed as she glared at her opponent. A sharp insult threatened to spill past her lips as she watched him step away from her. She wanted nothing more than to accuse him of cheating, or fighting dirty, or being too afraid of taking a hit that he had to hide behind paralysis. But putting voice to her thoughts would not benefit either of them in the slightest. Jomei had always struck her as a good guy, and no doubt he was just doing what he thought he had to do win. It was frustrating, but she could not fault him for being competitive. And as soon as I can move again, I'll do what I need to do to win. Just wait. {Paralyzed.}
Jomei 0 Posted July 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Jomei stepped back and spun his sword in his hand. At the moment, he was feeling this fight was going too smoothly.. and that was not very fun for him.. and he was damn sure it wasnt any fun for the frozen Lessa as well. As he caught her gaze, he noticed an angry glare coming from her. He stepped forward again with his sword at his side. Instead of stabbing his sword forward, however, he brought his sword up across his body to his shoulder and swung it back down fast, slashing her across her armored chest. This time, there were no paralyzing waves coming from his sword. He also noticed some of her appendages began to twitch slightly, meaning his sword's effects were beginning to wear off. He held his rapier at the ready for Lessa's retaliation. ID: 25241 BD: 4( +3) DMG: 5 (-4) = 1 Lessa: 59/63 (26/30) {+1 dmg on next successful hit} Jomei: 49/50 (29/30)
Lessa 1 Posted July 20, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Slowly, she felt the life creep back into her limbs. It was a sort of warmth that, while not painful, was strangely uncomfortable. It tingled, and slightly resembled that awful feeling of trying to move your body parts after they've fallen asleep. But she was no longer paralyzed, and that meant she was back in the game. Even though her muscles cried in sleepy protest as she finally lifted her claymore, she paid them little mind. It was time for her to get even. The speedy little player who depended on evasion and paralysis readied for her attack, but the mounting frustration of three turns without a hit added extra oomph to her hit. His defensive stance, though not a bad attempt at all, could not withstand the heavy crash of her glowing claymore, and the anger that she had had built up since the beginning. {[25245] 7-2+1=6. Jomei 0 Posted July 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2015 As Jomei watched Lessa raise her sword up into the air, he grit his teeth. He placed his sword horizontally across his body, holding the blade in the palm of his hand in an attempt to try and block the oncoming storm that was her claymore. His block proved futile, however, as her sword plowed through his defense. The strike knocked him down onto his back. Quickly thinking, Jomei used his <Acrobatics> skill to roll backwards and push himself off of the ground. Finally taking a gasp of air, Jomei looked at Lessa, and then at their HP.. {One blow and she almost tripled the damage I did to her...} Jomei took another deep breath, then activated his <Sprint> skill to quickly close the gap between him and Lessa. A small trail of dust and sand followed Jomei as he hurried through the sandy terrain to Lessa's position. As he got within striking range, he brought his sword upward to slash at her diagonally. His attack barely missed his mark, Lessa being able to step back as he swung his sword. As she did so, Jomei quickly activated his <Concentration> skill, and his eyes flashed yellow with thin crosshairs to pinpoint Lessa's position.. securing a hit for Jomei. He quickly turned his hand and brought his sword back down in the opposite direction he brought it up, this time connecting with Lessa's armor once again. Lessa 1 Posted July 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 25, 2015 The sharp clanging of a bell rang out, and the air was immediately filled by the angry shouts of the onlookers. "Zel," Lessa growled, glancing up toward the Blood Buccaneer. "What does that mean?" "Time's up," the man replied. "The fight is over. You took too long to attack, and so Jomei won." Lessa stood there in silence for a moment. And then, "what?!" "Sorry, rules are rules." The blonde frowned. "Only because I spent too much time paralyzed," she muttered. When she spoke again, it was a shout to Zelrius. "Can we please just play it out? Jomei can still win, officially. I just want to see this through." She turned to Jomei, who shrugged, and nodded his own approval. "See?" Lessa cried, motioning with her sword. "He's game. So let's do it." Zelrius considered the offer for a moment, then sighed. "Fine." "Alright!" Lessa cheered, before lunging toward her opponent. She wasted no time dragging her heavy claymore across his stunned figure. Perhaps it was unfair, having the element of surprise on her side, but it was nice being the quick one for once. {[25597] 9. Jomei 0 Posted July 27, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 27, 2015 The sound of the bell confused Jomei at first, but he recognized it as signaling the end of the fight. Jomei huffed in slight annoyance.. That was it? He looked over at Lessa, who had the same reaction towards Zel ending the fight. Jomei wanted it to go on just as much as she apparently did.. It was no fun to end it this way. Despite it being in the rules that she was not able to cause enough damage to Jomei in time.. probably due to him paralyzing her.. she asked the man to let the fight go on, despite giving Jomei the win no matter what. Jomei nodded and crossed his arms, "I agree." {I don't deserve this win.. I feel guilty taking it, Lessa is clearly much stronger than me..} he sighed. Zel agreed to their decision and let the fight continue. "Alright, lass, let's get bac-" Before Jomei could even finish his statement, Lessa was already slashing her large sword at Jomei. His body spun as her sword passed through him, knocking him to the floor. "Urk.. that was dirty.." he turned his head to Lessa and smirked, "Guess I deserve that one for the paralyzing.." He picked himself up off of the floor and clenched the rapier in his hand. He ran forward at her, planning to quickly strike and return the favor for that surprise attack. Jomei plunged his sword forward, hoping to do some real damage or even paralyze her again. However, his rapier just barely scratched Lessa's armor as the sword clanked into her chest piece.
