[OP - F1] Sense of Community

Recommended Posts

Carambit wandered around the town for a while. He had been observing the small groups of people that gathered together and formed parties, and watched all the people that hung out alone all the time. To be fair, he couldn't judge, as he too found himself alone for the majority of his time in this world. What he noticed about the parties of players and groups that met together was that they were all discussing business. It was very rare that he ever saw people gather together just to spend time together and get to know each other. Everyone was so serious. He hadn't seen anybody smile in what seemed like forever.

With a grunt, he swiped with his finger to open his user interface and decided to attempt to make a change to that. He began to post a public bulletin. He was fairly certain it would be lost amongst the many, many posts looking for groups and trade requests, but he decided he needed to try anyway. He set a coordinate muster area in one of the parks near the center of the Starting Town, and invited people to come and attend. Hopefully this would help strengthen friendships and form many new ones. Rather than see people fend for themselves, this would hopefully bring enough people together that there would be a real community that many could be a part of.

"To any who are interested," he started "I've noticed a lack of... Well let's call it 'community' amongst the majority of players on the first floor. Sure, we're all here surviving in one place, but we're not really here together." he paused to think about exactly how he wanted to continue his post. "I'm hoping to gather a variety of players, both new and experienced, together to discuss survival strategies, ways to improve one another, and hopefully form a bunch of new friendships. Anyone who is interested in the community, and being a part of it, feel free to attend! I'll be waiting around. I can't wait to meet more of you!"

With that, he posted the bulletin, and plopped himself down onto a bench. He began to wait. He realized that maybe nobody would show up; maybe he would be waiting for a good, long while alone in that park, but he wanted to bring people together, and this was the best way he saw he could do it.

((anyone is free to post, please, the more the merrier! Make yourself welcome! I can't wait to see who rocks up!))

Noct made his way through the crowd, his menu open. His inventory nearly bustled with items, not originally his. He had gone back to the same group of extortionists and 'found' items that belonged to other people. Items of importance, symbols of faith, and other personal belongings. he didn't care that he was being used for someone else's fame or fortune. He was being paid, and it was the right thing to do. Noct leapt up,m grabbing a window's ledge, and hoisting himself up making his way to the roof. Even if it was breaking and entering, theft, even sleep motivation to get the items. Noct leapt from one rooftop to another, his pursuers underneath him trying to keep up. Noct smiled, he enjoyed his little game of cat and mouse. To an extent. Several times now they had been close to recognizing him in public. He would need a mask soon, or an accomplice at least. His inventory pinged, and he opened the menu standing tall among the buildings. A public announcement of sorts. A player complaining that people aren't working together in a time of crisis. Noct ran a hand through his hair. Of course humanity wouldn't. When push came to shove, the strongest survived, while the weak died. It was gruesome, he knew, but it was just how everything is. But still, perhaps this distraction could prove useful. Noct looked down at the men struggling to get to him. He gave them a wave, a sly smile, and a parting word. "Cya." He mused, as he leapt off of the building opening his menu as he fell. He switched from his black Demon's Jacket to his starter item as well as reequipping his glasses. He didn't need them, other than to make out road signs or things about 20 feet out, but they helped disguise him. He followed the ping in his menu, finding the point of origin. Seeing no one around, Noct looked around. He half expected some politician, or someone shouting over the crowd trying to force their opinion on the masses. Not many people were around the spot, save a single man sitting on a bench nearby. Noct approached, and asked a question. "Hey, you send out the announcement? About teamwork and stuff?" The raven haired player asked.
