The wolves made their move again, trying to bite and scratch at him from all sides. Carambit rapidly passed his blade between himself and each of the wolves as they attempted to get close enough for a bite or scratch, parrying their attacks and blocking their path of movement so that they couldn't quite get to him without getting hurt by the sharp edge of his sword. They all continued to attack until the injured one began to slow down. It started to take a few steps back, and he saw this as his opportunity to finish it off. Being that exhausted, it wouldn't be able to muster enough energy to dodge out of the way of his weapon. As soon as he was clear enough to break away from his other two combatants, he made his move.

With an almighty roar he charged forward, catching the other two wolves by surprise enough that they would miss him as he moved on for the lone wolf. He attempted the same attack with his sword, stabbing forward with it to damage the side of the wolf as he passed it, but unfortunately it lowered it's stance, causing his aim to be just a bit too high. He glided past the animal, sailing to an eventual stop as he anchored his heels into the dirt. He pivoted on his left foot and took a single step back. Thankfully this fight was taking place in an open field, as opposed to the previous battle up in the woods, where he was tripping over constantly.

This was becoming quite taxing on him.The threat of death was ever present, watching over him like a puppeteer waiting for a string to snap. He would however try his best not to let it have it's way. If death wanted him, it was going to have to put up one hell of a struggle.

Carambit: 8/17
Wolf: 1/9
Wolf: 9/9
Wolf: 9/9

His health continued to drop. One of the wolves was able to charge at him and clear past his parry, slashing at his arm with it's sharp claws. At this rate there was no way he would win. He began to prepare an escape plan. If he was able to distract them long enough to run back to safety he would live to fight another day, but if he continued right now he was done for. It was a long way back to town, but he was sure he had enough stamina to make it with a long run. With the condition these wolves were in after the fight they'd been putting up they might not be able to keep up with him... Maybe...

He started to back up away from them, remaining fixated on the central wolf and shifting his sight to each of the other two. "Okay, maybe this wasn't such a good idea..." he admitted. Maybe going for more of a challenge was a good idea, but biting off more than you can chew in this world was deadly.

He decided to cut and run. If he stuck around and attempted to take them on, then he would surely perish. Overconfidence is a killer, but he wouldn't let it take him this time. Carambit turned and broke into a sprint. The wolves began to give chase after him, but as he had suspected, he had more get up and go left in him than they did. They had become comfortable fighting him in the one place. He wouldn't be shouting any witty lines back at them as the distance between them grew; instead he would be focusing on drawing each breath and keeping his breathing regulated.

Once he had run a good few hundred meters, the wolves began to slow to a stop, and turn back to tend to their injured third member. Carambit had just scraped by that time, and his next opponent would have to be an easier kill. Once at the gates to the starting town he stopped, bent forward and clutched his knees; breathing heavily in and out. "Yeah," he thought to himself, "definitely stick to one at a time from now on, buddy..."

Carambit decided to spend most of this day back in the safety of the Starting town. He came close to dying from those wolves, and it would prove quite dangerous to go back out until his health was completely healed. He took a seat at a cafe, ordered some food, and lazed around there until his hitpoints were restored to full. He wouldn't call this day quits until he had at least claimed a victory against something that would provide him with another level on this floor.

When he was satisfied that his hitpoints were back to their maximum level, he stood up, thanked the waitress that served him, and got on his way. He wanted to get something out of his day, not waste it cowering in fear. He began his search for an opponent again, this time only engaging with things that were on their own. He searched through the main fields for enemies before realizing that it would be rare for him to find anything that spawned with such high hitpoints on the first floor, as it would be a danger to new players. He began to make his way back, when out of a sheer stroke of luck, he witnessed a boar spawn. He was going to move past it, and continue on, as the low level boars don't aggro him anymore, however to his shock this one turned toward him and started to charge.

Carambit: 14/17
Boar: 7/10

He drew his sword and tried to prepare for it's charge, but the boar had gotten the drop on him. It blew past his legs, knocking him over and draining a small portion of his hit points. He rolled and popped back up to his feet, turning to face the boar. It was facing him again and preparing for another charge. This time he was ready however. The boar ran at him at full force, but he hopped to his left, just out of it's reach, and slashed along it's side as it blew past, damaging it's health right back.

It skidded to a halt and spun on the spot, facing him once again. Carambit stood upright, and held his sword out beside him, one hand on the handle, one clasping the blade. He waved it once, miming the waving of a flag. "Toro!" he teased.

Carambit: 14/17
Boar: 5/10

The enraged beast charged at him again, it's red eyes glaring at him as it gained closer and closer. He stepped aside once again, a spin in his step, and released the sword with his left hand, swinging the bladed side into the boar. It squealed as it passed him, the sound confirming that he had wounded it yet again. This was much more manageable than the 3 wolves at once. Carambit knew that this was a much better option. It meant that he would level up slower, as he would need to take time between foes to find individual enemies to take on, but at least this method showed results, and kept him safe from being mauled to death so easily.

The player kept his eye on the boar, waiting for it to make it's next move. The bullfighter tactic seemed to be working pretty well, so he would keep that up until it's patterns changed. He remained on the defensive, waiting for it's next move.

Carambit: 12/17
Boar: 5/10

Carambit probably should have gone for a more assertive approach, rather than hanging back. The boar made another charge at him, running at full speed like a bull seeing red, and again, Carambit stepped aside. However, he performed his dodge a bit too early, giving the creature time to correct for it a bit more than he should have allowed. The boar's tusk clipped his side as it passed him, which caught him by surprise. Carambit attempted a full tuck 'n' roll dodge a little too late, after the beast had hit him, but in doing so couldn't quite pull off the roll. He dove aside, taking a mouthful of dirt and grass. With a "Bleh!" he spat it out and wiped his tongue clean "I can't believe they even got the ground to taste like reality..."

Carambit: 12/17
Boar: 1/10

The boar ran at him once again, but this time he wouldn't give it the satisfaction of hurting him. He gripped the handle of his sword as the beast drew nearer, and at the last possible second, rolled out of the way, swinging his sword downward and slicing the monster almost in two. It squealed and locked up it's legs, coming to an eventual halt. Carambit watched it's health bar drop, and drop, but stop just before death. "Really? Are you kidding me?" he waved his sword left and right "Is it you? Are you doing this? Are you saving them right before they die? Come on! Work for me!" he yelled in frustration at his sword.

The boar stood still, watching him and tilting it's head to one side with a confused snort. "Don't you start piggy! I'll be having none of that from you!" he pointed at it angrily, his teeth showing like an enraged baboon.

[LD=18] (Boar Hide)

Carambit: 21/21 (Level 9)
Boar: -3/10 (sit down.)

Carambit charged at the boar with all his might, ready to vent his anger on his victim. He slashed left and right at the boar, carving pieces out of it like slicing a boiling hot knife through butter. "Don't! You! Mock! Me! Boar!" he cried with each swing of his sword. He found himself unable to stop until the front half of the boar was entirely red from his damage markings. He froze for a moment when he realized the damage he'd done. The boar took this moment of rest to explode and float away. "See?!" he held his sword up with two hands by the hilt "That's what I want you to do! Like, from now on!"

the small window appeared displaying his congratulatory message, complete with earned experience and dropped items. He had collected another boar hide, bringing him to a total of 2, and he had earned enough experience to level up. What he hadn't noticed is that he had leveled up twice. Perhaps from the combination of the previous battle mixed with this one. Either way he was happy that he had finally defeated one last enemy and regained his confidence. "Well... Thank goodness that's over..." he said to himself, clearing away the menu in front of him. "Time to go back and have a rest. That's enough action for one day."
