The enemy hollered in pain and attempted to chomp at his hand, but Carambit was too quick, and pulled back just in time to save his fingers. If he was having a hard time hitting enemies with his good arm, he couldn't begin to fathom how bad he'd be with his left. Perhaps he should invest in a shield. These thoughts ran through his mind in a matter of seconds, before he snapped back into reality and tried to focus on the fight. The player took a few steps back, and tried his best to stay hidden behind the trees separating him from the still clueless other lizard. If both of them got onto him at once, it would be a bloodbath, and he wouldn't walk away from that one.

He stepped toward the lizard, and witnessed it open it's mouth in an attempt to counter his move. He sidestepped around it, faking right first then moving left. The lizard wasn't sure how to calculate his sudden erratic behavior, and attempted to bite in the wrong direction, leaving it's neck exposed for an attack. Carambit foresaw visions of him decapitating the beast and striking a glorious pose, but alas; he was only able to place a hefty scratch upon it's exposed weak point. The animal recoiled back and chomped at him.In a slight panic, Carambit swung his sword left and right, blocking off contact between the creature and himself. He wouldn't soon risk another injury when he knew there was still another enemy to face.

He had backed himself up against yet another large rock and kicked it with his heel. As he wobbled and stuck a leg up to balance himself out, he began to wonder if he would have been better off just attacking the two creatures together in the field. As gravity finally grasped his risen leg, he stepped forward and waved his left arm out in front of him to finish off his balancing act. At which point, the lizard bit down on his arm, consuming the entirety of it from the elbow to the hand. The two stared into one another's eyes for a good few moments in total silence, until Carambit let out a "YA-HOWWW!!" of pain, pulling his arm free from the beast's mouth and jumping backward, planting his sword into the ground and rubbing his arm better where the monster's teeth had pierced. After a few moments of regaining his composure, he took a breath and pulled his sword back out of the ground. "Well..." he said in a casual tone, "That hurt like hell..." The lizard moved first, swiping at Carambit's leg, but the player was quick to parry it's blow with his sword. After this brief exchange was complete, the two continued to cautiously move around one another, each careful that they would not trip, as each of them knew that this fight could be the difference between life and death. Carambit struck next, stepping forward with a swift jab of his sword, but the lizard pulled it's body away from the blade, resulting in Carambit hitting critical damage... On the air..."Alright, you're a pretty good match for me..." he confessed. "But maybe that's just you getting lucky... Or me getting really unlucky. Either way, that luck's about to stop." "Finally!" he thought "This is finally over!" although his inner thought process spoke a little too soon. The health decreasing stopped just shy of the end of the bar, and the lizard angrily hissed once again. "Oh for goodness sake, just die already, will you? I've got places to be!" he exclaimed as his frustration got the better of him. He raised his sword for another attack and prepared to charge in and kill the beast. "I've had about enough of this, and it's time for you to die. So sit still and let me kill you, alright?"He took a brief breath of forest air, and began to step forward, his weapon at the ready. He cleaved down through the monster he had been fighting for what felt like an eternity until his sword struck the ground. It hollered out in pain and with a small flash of light, shattered into shards of data, disintegrating into the air around it. A small familiar screen appeared in his UI space in front of him. It showed his xp gains, proving to be enough to level up, and 40 Col. He had finally gained a drop from something on this floor! That was the key! He had to fight stronger creatures. Things that were tougher. Things that could do some damage fighting back. Now that his hitpoints had regenerated, Carambit felt confident enough to be able to take on the other creature, and come out on top. He readied his sword and peeked around the tree he had been hiding behind while fighting the other enemy. The lizard he had been hiding from seemed somewhat beefier than the one he had just bested. It was more robust, had a couple of scars. It looked generally tougher. Carmabit felt up to the challenge however. "You can do this." he told himself "You can SO do this. Just go and take him apart. Come on, let's go!" he thought, pumping himself up.

Carambit swiped at it with his sharp, steel blade and performed a combat roll over the top of it, standing on the other side of the monster. His confidence had reached new heights, and Carambit felt like he was capable of almost anything. He could take this thing down easily! He just needed to land more hits like this one. The lizard growled deeply at him, lowering it's battle scarred body closer to the earth. Just by looking at this thing's physical appearance, Carambit could tell it would hit much harder than the other one he just faced. The lizard jumped forward and swung with it's left arm. Carambit jumped over the top of it's swing, and saw it's arm follow through to the point where it struck the tree beside him so hard that an 'IMMORTAL OBJECT' warning appeared in a purple window, showing the tree could not be destroyed from physical damage. "Jeez buddy, what are they feeding you?" he asked, generally concerned. If this thing could bring up that warning on terrain, then he dreaded the kind of hurt it could give him. However, that didn't mean it wasn't still fast. It lunged forward at Carambit's face with it's huge, muscle-bound jaws and snapped at him. He pulled his head back in terror, observing as it's teeth clamped shut in front of his eyes, pulling a couple of hairs from his fringe free, and projecting saliva in either direction from the sudden snap shut. The player quickly put one foot in front of the other and ran around the other side of his enemy, toward the open area of the field. If he was going to win, he wasn't going to be able to pull it off backed into a corner. The large lizard groaned and turned around. It stared up at Carambit fiercely, at which point he noticed that the beast was missing one of it's eyes; a piece removed from a vicious previous battle, no doubt. He knew what his plan was. The more he could get himself onto it's blind side, the more window of opportunity he had to make a move before it would have the reaction time to counter him. He planned his next steps carefully, as they could win or lose him this fight. Edited August 18, 2015 by Carambit
Carambit 0 Posted August 18, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) [ID# 27988][BD=5] (Miss)[MD=1] (Critical fail)Carambit: 17/17Lizard Thug: 7/10The player took his chance and stepped toward the beast's blind side, and took a swing, just barely missing it. However, the creature wasn't fast enough to react well enough to attack him, as it could no longer see him. The monster twisted it's body and roared, opening it's jaws and jumping toward where it thought that Carambit was standing, however the brunet was ever so slightly further to the monster's left, just enough out of the way that it would speedily glide past him.The gargantuan beast did just that, and locked it's jaw onto a tree, which Carambit did not envy. The tree displayed three IMMORTAL OBJECT warnings, and the lizard struggled to attempt to pull it's teeth free. Carambit took this as an opportunity to try and land another blow. He went in for his next attack, taking advantage of the fact that the creature was somewhat immobilized by the very conveniently placed tree. Well, it was convenient for Carambit, anyway... Not so much for the bulky lizard. He plunged his sword deep into it's back, piercing through to the other side, and watched it's health gauge drop lower and lower. To his surprise however, a blow that would have almost killed his previous opponent stopped just as it entered the red zone, with a few hit points remaining. The lizard stopped squirming and turned to face the now defenseless Carambit, his sword still stuck inside of it's body, revealing that it had freed itself from the tree, and it had had quite enough of his b******t.He felt his body grow cold, and his eyes shrink as it opened it's mouth. "What?..." was all he was able to get out, still shocked it had caught him so badly off guard. The beast grabbed him within it's mouth, piercing his body on both sides with it's massive teeth, and flung him clear of it, against the trees. He sunk down to the ground and shook his head back into clarity. His sword was still stuck in the beast, and if he was to keep living, he needed to take it back.

He ran for the beast head on, and jumped up, attempting to leap over it and jimmy his blade free, however the powerful lizard stood up on it's hind legs, displaying it's shredded underbelly, and swatted him out of the air with it's right arm, tossing him across the ground like a ragdoll launched out of a cannon. Once he pulled his face from the dirt, Carambit let out a wheeze of pain, thinking his ribs were destroyed for sure. He sure was glad this was happening inside the game and not in the real world, or else he'd be screwed. He shook the thought of the many, many hospital bills he'd have to pay if this were real out of his head, and focused his attention back on the life threatening situation at hand. The creature dropped back down to the ground, and started stepping slowly towards him, dragging the tip of his sword along the ground as it moved. He wanted that sword back, and he would risk his life to get it. Without it he wasn't making it out of this fight, let alone off this floor alive.
Carambit 0 Posted August 18, 2015 Author #32 Share Posted August 18, 2015 [ID# 27996][BD=8] (Hit)[MD=10] (Oh, *hit +2)Carambit: 7/17Lizard Thug: 1/10Carambit took another attempt to get his weapon back, running this time around the lizard's blind side, seeing as it worked so well last time he attempted to flank it. Now that he was on a more secure side, he jumped for the sword and grabbed it's handle with both hands. He let out a roar as he pulled it down the body builder lizard's back, leaving behind a long red trail of damage. He quickly spun around to look at the health bar. "Come on baby, go down!" he said with excitement in his voice as the health bar dropped. However to his despair, it stopped just shy of the end, yet again. "OH, COME ON YOU SON OF A-"The lizard let out an enraged roar, and turned to attack him. It moved much faster now, apparently sensing that it was close to death. This one would not give up as easily as the last. the monster chomped at him with it's teeth, and he stepped luckily out of it's way, but he was not quite lucky enough to avoid it's swinging left arm. He raised his sword and attempted to shield himself against the attack, but it was way too powerful for such a parry. The beast's attack knocked him flying, his back scraping along the dirt and grass as he slid to a stop. He watched his health bar in the top left drop slightly again. He was at less than half of his health. This wasn't looking good. This thing could certainly hold it's ground. It was tough as nails.

It opened it's mouth to reveal it's teeth, but Carambit had other ideas. He lunged forward, into it's open mouth with his sword, piercing through the top of it's head and out the other side. The giant, muscle bound monster froze in place, and stayed still for a few moments before exploding into a hail of blue-green shards. Soon after those shards were gone, Carambit was informed that he had earned 50 Col from his arduous battle, as well as a bunch of experience points."Yes!" he exclaimed happily "If I keep this up, I'll have plenty of money to buy myself some better gear!" however after taking another quick look at his health gauge, he decided to prioritize getting back home safely first. "Oh... Er... I'd better make sure I don't die however. Need to actually be alive to buy stuff at the store..."With that, he sheathed his weapon and started to make his way back to the floor's main town. There, he'd be able to use the teleport area to go back to the Starting Town, the home of his favorite cafes and inns so far. He felt like he had earned a good bit of leave from the dangers of the battlefield.
Carambit 0 Posted August 18, 2015 Author #34 Share Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Once back in town, Carambit found himself a nice tree to laze under, and began to swipe through his inventory, looking through the different things he should spend his newly earned skill points on, and thinking of how best to spend his Col. Perhaps a more accurate weapon was in order. He was fairly comfortable with the damage he was able to do at this stage (although a weapon that could output more would be nice) and decided that he needed to work more on actually connecting with his enemies. He observed that he had now amassed roughly 500 Col, and he decided he would spend it all on a new weapon. His skill points were a trouble though. He had heard that investing in Battle Healing was a good way to go, but if he increased his One Handed Straight Sword skill, he would output more damage. Either way it would affect his survivability in a positive way. He pondered for a while and decided to save it for a later time. For now however, he would bask in the light of the town. There were only a few precious hours of daylight left, so he decided to spend them in comfort. Edited August 18, 2015 by Carambit
Carambit 0 Posted August 19, 2015 Author #35 Share Posted August 19, 2015 After some pondering the following morning, Carambit decided that enemies on his current floor would be good for training, if they were tougher. He decided to travel to areas where enemies would spawn a little more stronger and try his luck there, now that he had gotten a night's rest. His health had been regenerated to full, he had gotten some good food at the local cafe, and he was ready to go. He refused to stomach the god awful beginner ration bread any longer. Now that he had Col enough to be able to afford the cafe prepared food, made by players with a cooking level worth a damn, he would do that as often as he possibly could. He ventured to the other end of the floor, opposite the starting town, and began to wander the areas closest to the tower that progresses you to the next floor. They had to be tougher around there. After a while of sitting around in the sun, searching for enemies, and then sitting around some more, he was about to give up, until he encountered a pack of wolves. The looked as though they had just been spawned in, and seeing as there weren't any other players in the area, they had probably spawned for him. Hopefully they were tough enough to drop some loot. He drew his sword and began to make his way over to them.

He was able to slash a wolf for a portion of it's health, causing it to jump back in fear, and the other two wolves to jump forward at him for an attack in defense. Luckily for him, one misjudged the distance and missed him entirely, but the other wolf glanced off of his shoulder pad with his teeth. "Hey!" he sneered at it "I am not a chewtoy!" he threatened it with his weapon, raising it beside him like a baseball bat and taking a fake-out step toward it. The animal clearly wasn't sure how to react, and so it stepped back. "Yeah that's right." he told it off.It was at this moment he realized that he was strongly outnumbered, and he was about to experience a whole lot of hurt if these creatures were able to coordinate. They all attacked him at once, and with only one hand armed with a sword, he was only able to parry and sidestep one of them. The other two latched onto him, and began to maul at his body with their teeth. He growled in pain and attempted to shake himself free, but to no avail. They were clamped down tight, and refused to let go. He stuck one of them with the tip of his blade, injuring it just enough so that it would let go.With only one wolf left attached to him, Carambit was able to distance himself from the other two, and use his now freed arm to pull the other one loose as well. He took a quick peek at his hitpoints and noticed they had dropped a few points. At this stage he was still in the clear, but if the battle continued at the same pace, he would be in bad shape by the end.

Catching the enemies off guard seemed to work quite well in his favor so far, and he decided it was best to milk the successful tactic for as long as possible. He vaulted himself forward and performed a horizontal slash with his sword, attempting to hit all 3 of the wolves, but only landing a proper hit on one. Luckily for him, it was the one he had already injured twice."You." Carambit said when he came to a stop, pointing at the injured one with his left hand. "Then you," he said, moving his arm to point at the left one. He then finally rotated his arm to point at the third snarling opponent. "Then finally, you." He gripped his sword and lowered his center of gravity with a slight crouch. "Okay. Let's make this happen, guys."

Carambit tried his hardest to move as fast as possible to avoid as much damage as he could, but found himself still getting a decent scratch from one of the uninjured wolves as it swiped at him with it's claws. He spun around it and stepped away a few feet, giving himself some distance to plan his next move. He didn't get a chance this time to get an attack in, and had focused most of his attention on not getting injured. However, he knew that once he eliminated that first wolf, he would be able to handle the other two much easier.Carambit readied his sword and allowed the weapon to start glowing with the activation of his sword skill as the wolves slowly approached him, their heads low and snarling fiercely. The side effect of doing so however, was that his leg trailing behind him was caught by the teeth of one of the other two wolves that were still operating at full strength. After he landed with a quick combat roll, Carambit glanced again to his health bar to discover he was almost at half health. If it kept getting whittled away like that then he wouldn't survive the fight."Dammit, what am I gonna do with you two..." he said to himself, his eyes darting to each of the three enemies. This fight couldn't go on forever. Something had to give, whether that be him or the wolves was unsure at this stage, but either way, this was going to be a close fight.
