[PP-F1] Road to the Top (Kiseki and Mack)

Recommended Posts

Kiseki: 11/13
Wolf1: 4/7
Wolf2: 7/7

The first wolf jumped at Kiseki with its fangs ready. Kiseki used his left arm to block the attack. The second wolf leaped and Kiseki kicked it back canceling out the attack. He took his scimitar and slashed at the wolf that grappled onto his arm. It yelped and was was forced to let go. It immediately retaliated by jumping at Kiseki after landing. It pinned him down and bit into his left shoulder. The other wolf ran over and bit into Kiseki's leg.

"Seriously?" Kiseki would comment in an annoyed town. He spun around launching both wolves away. While the first wolf was still stunned, he dashed and uppercutted the wolf with a single swing. It would glow and shatter to pieces. Kiseki quickly focused his attention on the second wolf. He looked over at Mack noticing him still swinging his axe. He hated to, but he had to ask.

"Hey Mack! Any chance we could even out the playing field? My health bar is at yellow right now!" Kiseki would holler.

With another solid thunk, Guillotine buried itself deep in Mack's chosen tree. A spray of wood chips fountained from the spot where Mack had struck the tree and a crafting material spilled out onto the ground. As Mack was adding the materials to his inventory he heard Kiseki call out for assistance and the hulking blonde man looked up. Sure enough, the other warrior's health bar was in the yellow while the second wolf was still at full health. Mack considered his options for a second as he ripped Guillotine from the tree. "Hit the deck," the blonde warrior yelled, bringing the blade of his weapon back over his head and then launching it through the air like a comically oversized tomahawk. Guillotine tumbled end over end, narrowly missing Kiseki in the process, but it slammed unerringly into the wolf which yelped and then erupted in a shower of pixels.

"I win," the axe-man said, shrugging his massive shoulders and starting towards the place where his weapon was buried in the ground.

(OOC: I doubt it can get any worse :P)

Kiseki heard Mack's warning and immediately ducked down. He swore he felt the axe fly pass him right before he witnessed the pinpoint accuracy of the axe smashing against the pixelated wolf. Seeing the wolf shatter and the axe dropping basically made Kiseki's jaws dropped. Apparently he was too amazed to do anything. He decided to sit down and looked over at Mack.

"Thanks a lot. I guess I owe you one if I could find out how to repay you." Kiseki yawned. "I think that's enough for today. You said you had a blacksmith right? I'll visit it eventually."

"Don't worry about it," Mack replied in a low rumble. Stooping, he retrieved Guillotine and proceeded to bury the blade of the axe in five different trees. Each time, it was the same result. Not a single thing. "If you insist on paying, though, I wouldn't say no to a mat. I know you've got at least two since each of the wolves you killed dropped them. If not, no big deal." The hulking blonde man shouldered Guillotine and then rolled his head around on his neck, popping it audibly. "I'm just about farmed out anyway, I'll head back to town with you."

"Fine with me" Kiseki would say. He left the forest with the big man. The path was taken since Kiseki doesn't really want to run into monsters with his health. Sure he has Mack with him, but that's not really gonna make him feel better.

"So how much of a struggle were they when you were my level?" Kiseki asked. "Did you by any chance get enchanted items quicker or did you focus on getting used to the combat system like me?" Kiseki was at this point trying to get advice in order to catch up. He's really liking Mack helping out. Maybe he's reliable for somebody to talk to when Kiseki needs help.

"It was some time until I found any enchanted loot," Mack said, marching through the forest next to Kiseki with Guillotine tossed over one shoulder. "Most of my good early gear was stuff that I forged myself. Everything I'm using right now, that's actually equipped, are items I made for myself," the hulking man continued, throwing back the hood of his crimson guild cloak. "As for the combat, the gods of random numbers tend to favor me for some reason. I'm not really sure why. I also put so many early points into dealing damage that I was able to stay well ahead of the mob damage curve, so far at least. I don't suppose you'd have much interest in joining a Guild, would you?"

Kiseki thought about the guild invite for a moment.

"As of now, no. I still have a lot of catching up to do before I really put myself out there. I'll consider your offer though. As of this moment, I'll be on my own." Kiseki quickly yawned. It wasn't too far till the Town of Beginnings.

"This whole gear deal will slow me down. I'm probably gonna take a few quests just for the levels and skill points. Maybe even open up a shop for Col and materials. Not entirely sure though." Kiseki would start rolling and stretching his arms. He's a little tired now. The good news is that no mobs have tried to attack them.

"If you're going to take a career, you'll need to complete the Earning a Living quest," Mack rumbled as they came within sight of the main gates that led into the City of Beginnings. "Of course, if you join the Crimson Blades you'll have access to the Guild supplies for better gear, more people to adventure with and that will bring safety while you're passing through the lower levels of Aincrad and power leveling through the first few levels." They continued to trudge through the fields in the direction of the city's gates. "Of course, the decision is still yours. No one will force you into the guild."

From that point on the pair of men remained mostly silent up until they reached the gates of the City of Beginnings, each lost in their own musings and recollections as the time and distance passed without any great event or problem.
