[PP-F1] Testing the skills of Alex (Alex)

Xion stood by the teleport gate in the centre of the town of beginnings, while usually he would have been relaxing in this part of the town, today he was not, for he had been tasked with testing an evaluating the skills of a player named Alex, who had shown interest in joining his guild: The crimson blades. The man stood with his sword and shield on his back, wearing his Trench coat, which while it had no damage mitigation, was nice for aesthetics. He sighed as he opened his menu, and wrote a PM to the player. 

 

To: Alex 

Pleas meet me at the teleport gate in the central plaza of the town of beginnings to be tested.

Once the PM had sent he resumed standing with his arms by his side as he watched players and NPCs alike walk past him as they went on with their daily lives. But his mind still lingered on the subject of the player, from what Xion had been told the player was of a relatively low level, maybe he wasn't up for it? The blonde shook his head, pushing that thought to the side, levels where not a measurement of skill, not in the slightest, Xion had learned that from his many encounters with higher levelled players, if anything it meant that the boy may grow into a  great warrior with the guidance and help of the Crimson Blades.

About 10 minutes later, an excited Alex appeared by the gate, having received the message about five minutes ago. Alex looked around for the player know as "Xion", who was supposedly supposed to test Alex's abilities, for the guild he had applied too, the Crimson Blades. Alex was excited to be trying to join a guild, and that meant if Alex died in the middle of nowhere out here, Alex would actually have a few people that cared! And the guild was kind of like the way boy scouts was when he was younger. Like the 'badges' you where on your uniform to boy scouts events, the guild had robes that you had to wear to guild events. And upon completing specific tasks and stuff, You received little emblems onto the robe, kind of like badges for boy scouts. Alex was more excited than he had been when he sat in line forever for Sword Art Online. 

 

Alex looked around to see only one player standing by the gate. He was a blonde, higher level-looking player, and must have been Xion. So Alex decided to walk up and tried to talk in the best tone he could(Not to boyish, not too girlish, not too boyish, not too boomish, not too shyish). "Hey, umm....Are you Xion? I am here to see you for my guild test for Crimson Blades..."

Xion was soon approached by a rather nervous sounding blonde player, maybe this was the one who was to be tested? Xion's question was answered almost immediately as the player asked if he was Xion, explaining that he was here for the guild test. "So you must be Alex then" the blonde said with a smile as he looked upon the young man. "I am Xion, second in command and Seneschal of the crimson blades" he said as he held out a  hand, his palm open, gesturing for a handshake. "Sorry about the formalities, but I must present myself as a serious and respectable member of the guild, lest people start thinking that we are just another rag-tag group of nobodies" he said before sending the player a party invite. "As for your test..." he said, before opening his map and looking at the fields surrounding the town of beginnings. "We will start off with some simple MOB fighting, and then if you're up for it maybe some stronger enemies" he said, before closing his menu.

Alex was actually kind of scared of these monsters.... Even on floor one. So when Xion brought up the 'stronger monsters', Alex quickly responded with "Please not strong ones. I'm kind of scared of the boars alone, and even the wolfs. If I go to one too hard without being ready......I'm only level four, you see..... " Alex then looked down at the party invite from Xion. Alex accepted it. "So where to first? I like exploring with other people better than alone you know. I feel much less scared while with other people. Do you ever get scared of the monsters you face?" Alex asked, trying to start a conversation. But Alex had never really been an expert at starting conversations and making friends, part of the reason he didn't have any friends.

Xion frowned as he listened to the boy speak, if he was afraid of boars, the slimes of SAO then there wasn't much hope for him. But once again Xion had to remind himself of a very important fact: this was a death game, the boy was probably perfectly capable, but simply feared death. "I haven't met a monster that I have feared yet, but this is most likely because of my build, I am a tank build so I have as much health as some field bosses" he said with a slight chuckle before thinking about any other possible things that they could do to test Alex's abilities. "The only alternative is for a duel, but based on your health one strike from me and you'll be near the red zone, and two strikes could kill you" he said, as he looked at Alex's HP bar, which seemed minuscule when compared to Xion's.

Alex did not like the sound of that. "There is no way I am dueling you Xion.. I still want to go fight the boars and stuff. But it was just the way you had said "stronger monsters" that spooked me a bit. But I am ready........ for anything. No matter how scared I am. Because I want to be part of the Crimson Blades!" Alex exclaimed excitedly. But he really was super excited, and hoped his first guild would be fun. "So, Xion, where are we headed off to?" Alex smiled as he looked out of town, seeing the beautiful dawn sunlight beating upon the town. Well, it shouldn't be called a town. It's freaking giant. It should be a city at the least. Under the dawn sunshine were beautiful trees, gleaming orangish with the rising sun. It was amazing.

Xion chuckled "Trust me, these 'stronger' monsters are weaker than I am, so you have no need to fear. So, shall we get going? We'll start with some simple boars in the plains first" he said before beginning to walk towards the main town gates, gesturing for Alex to follow him. As they walked Xion mused over how to truly test one's abilities, as things like strength came in many forms, while MOB fighting was a good test of one's abilities in battle, it is a very narrow, limited test which would tell him little else. The blonde shook his head, now was not the time for such things.

Alex saw Xion's gesture and quickly came up with him. I need to become friends with Xion...... He's a higher up, higher level ,and probably could help me out in situations of dire need. Alex continued following Xion, thinking about conversation starters. Hmmmm...... Hah! "So........What kind of weapon do you wield?" Alex pulled out his beginner's dagger. It gleamed as Alex pulled it out, but in times of danger, the blade did not shine. It was an interesting fact... but it must have been a secret that the game master must have programmed in. Alex held up his dagger. "I wield this tiny speedy weapon. I know it is tiny, and does not hone the ability to keep the enemies at a distance, but the blade is more of a speedy, light-weight, close combat weapon. But the only reason I chose this little dagger over the speed of the rapier was because the rapier is boring, all I can seeis lunging and stabbing. But while wielding a dagger, there are many more ways to hold the dagger, many different ways of attacking, and is much more accurate."

Xion nodded as Alex showed the player his weapon. "Well...I wield this" he said, drawing a sword from the scabbard on his back. " this is the Slicing Maelstrom, it is a long, sturdy blade which can paralyse foes, leaving them defenceless. With its enhancements and my sword skills I deal a base damage of five, meaning that while I am a tank, I can also deal a good amount of damage. The paralyse effect also gives me a small window to recover using Battle healing, making me harder to take down" he said, before sheathing the blade.

That is actually I pretty nice idea...... Wish I would have thought like that when I got the game. "That's actually a good idea. I actually like the idea of yours really well, now I think I should have put more thought into my choice of weapon, right?" Alex smiled. "Ah, no matter. So tell me more about the guild if you will. I love the guilds idea with the robe. It's awesome. Anyways, how long has the guild been around? And how long have you been in the guild?" Alex smiled, as he had actually started an OK conversation. It made him happy, how he was actually communicated with people, like he had lacked to really do his whole life.

"The guild hasn't been around for long, maybe a couple of weeks at most, and I have been with the guild in the beginnings, as I am one of it's founding members. As for the cloaks, they show the position and achievements of a guild member, meaning that your prowess in battle, or in your craft can be seen simply from looking at the robe. For example, you would only have part of the uniform, while I being second in command would be wearing the full attire" he said, as they neared the edge of the town of beginnings.

"Ah that's really cool!" Alex said excitedly. he hoped someday he would be wearing the full attire. Alex noticed as well that they were nearing the edge of the gates. Okay Alex........ This is your chance to prove yourself.... To prove that you belong IN THIS GUILD! Alex thought to himself, nervously. so nervous, he even pulled out a water bottle and drank half of it. From now on, I will not be know as a coward, I will be known as a member.... Of the Crimson Blades! I kinda hope they have some kind of cook to make me some alfredo though......  Once they finally made it all the way to the gate, Alex looked up at Xion. "Where to, bro?"

"There" Xion said, pointing towards a solitary boar. "You will take that boar down, alone...Well to an extent, I will be taking the damage by drawing the boar's aggro" he said before walking towards the beast, drawing his sword and shield as he did, planting the latter firmly in the ground. "Now after I draw the aggro I want you to attack, no fear, no hesitation. Trust me, I will not allow any harm to come to you" he said, before inhaling deeply and letting out a deafening, bestial <<Howl>> which drew the attention of the boar, it's head snapping in the direction of the tank. "Now!" he shouted.

(OOC: I'm guessing your controlling the MD and the boars attack then?)

(OOC: I'm not the best at detailed attacks in combat....XD)

 

"Alrighty....." Alex looked at the boar intenlty and studied it's movement. which was easier than ever with the argo of the boar on Xion. as it got really angry at Xion, Alex tried to hatch a plan in his head. Alright....... The boar began to run at Xion, and Alex flipped over towards it with his dagger revealed, and attempted to land an uppercut. But the strike missed, and Alex got right back onto the boar,  flipped his dagger around, with the blade side pointed downward. this time, Alex attempted to do whatever you call an uppercut but down instead of up. And the hit landed clean, pushing the boar back a few inches from the impact as well.

Xion watched as Alex attack the boar, chipping at it's health as he did. The tank gave a nod of approval "Good, good. Keep that up" he said before noticing that the boar was charging at him. Xion smiled as he watched the poor thing run up to him, only for it's tusks to collide with his shield, stopping it dead in it's tracks. "Nope" he said before kicking the boar away, giving Alex room to attack.
