About: History/Personality-

Faye was born along the coast of California in the United States of America to two loving parents, her father who was a Marine First Sergeant and her mother who was a high school counselor. Her childhood was fairly ordinary until the end of middle school. A speeding car crashed into her while she had been riding her bike and the end result was severe injury to her spinal cord that left her paraplegic along with other bone fractures and a minor concussion. Thankfully the person that had hit her had good insurance and paid for all of her hospital bills, but even the best care couldn't return her ability to walk. It was an odd sensation to say the least. She was still a child, just starting to grow up and hadn't even yet decided what she really wanted to be when she 'grew up'. She could have been a ballerina, a Marine, an athlete. For a while this troubled her; acclimating herself to her new lifestyle was painstaking and all she could think of were the 'what ifs'. Eventually though, with the aid of her parents, Faye was able to become more or less independent. At least as much as any minor could. Her mother counseled her on her fears and worries and dark thoughts, calming her mind and soul. And her father pushed her to her limits, never letting her give up, strengthening her body and character.

It took her a while to adjust back into school, having missed nearly over a year that she was supposed to have entered high school, setting her education back a bit. But still she didn't give up. The awkward treatment at the hands of classmates and teachers and students took time to either correct or simply get used to, but she focused on what she could do, not letting her disability hold her back. Instead of focusing on what she couldn't do, she found things that she could and poured over library's worth of books and always asked her parents for recommendations. Occasionally writing little stories based on them and asking them to be read and criticized. Eventually a friend interested her in gaming as well. Since she was already familiar with computers, she played a few MMORPGs and though was rather terrible at first, she began to get better. Her fun and games didn't interfere with her studies however. With the help of her GPA and disability, she achieved a scholarship to a private University after finally graduating high school a bit later than most others her age. Moving away from home and staying in a dorm room more or less alone but for a roommate was a new experience for Faye. She had only ever been surrounded by her family, comforted in their presence even if they weren't home at the time as their work often called them away. But she was an adult now and she had always worked hard to be independent, she couldn't let her parents or herself down now.

College turned out to be better than anything she could have expected. It had so much freedom and she truly felt like her own person. It was also her first taste of love, in her freshman year when she was still wide eyed and impressionable. In hindsight she supposed that she might have fallen so deeply and quickly in love with him because he was simply the first that expressed true romantic interest in her. That saw her for who she was rather than a girl in a wheelchair. But it wasn't meant to be. Barely a year and a half later they got into a rather large and shamefully public fight in which he declared that he had been dating her all this time out of pity. And to add insult to injury, he called making love to her "like f%#&ing a corpse".  Needless to say, they didn't get back together. The end of their relationship and moreover, the slap in the face of 'the truth', was a blow to her ego and ability to trust others romantically. If someone that she loved and thought loved her could fool her for nearly two years, how could she ever tell if someone was with her because they truly wanted to be? After she recovered emotionally, she decided to focus on her schoolwork, or more importantly her major, which she had yet to declare. But she kept putting it off and putting it off until it was the summer before the new semester.

That was when her primary care physician contacted her about a game of all things. A virtual reality game specifically. One that would use a new technology called Nerve Gear to completely immerse her brain activity into the game's system and simulate a body, a real working body. Faye was obviously curious and thought that it couldn't hurt anything to give it a try. The game couldn't be dangerous after all, it seemed like it was quite popular considering what she had read up and how many people had re-ordered it and did beta testing. The worst thing that could happen was that for some reason her character also wouldn't be able to walk and she'd just go back to her normal games. So she agreed and her doctor procured her the necessary equipment, scheduling an appointment so that they could monitor her for experiments sake. She didn't mind being a guinea pig. After all, what could possibly go wrong? As they say, famous last words.

Virtues:

Perseverant. Once Phaedra sets her mind to do something, there is little that can either stop her or change her mind. She takes great pleasure in accomplishing set goals or ones that she creates for herself. And if for some reason she can't complete a goal, she will be drawn into a state of temporary depression and frustration.

Prudent. Phaedra is diplomatic in both words and choices, careful to not take risks. She hates regrets perhaps a bit more than the average person and tries to take care to not do or say anything that she herself would later regret unless her temper gets the better of her.

Compassionate. While seeming a tad emotionless at times, Phaedra truly wishes to help those in need and alleviate whatever is distressing them. This doesn't mean that she is easily swayed by tears or a 'sob story', but if she feels there is something she can do to help a person that is genuinely trying to help themselves or someone else, she will help them. This help may at times be unwanted or come in a roundabout form.

Compliant. Ask or tell Phaedra to do something and if she at least marginally respects you, she'll likely do it. She'll carry out all orders or requests without question if they come from someone she acknowledges as her 'superior', whether in a particular skill or in actual rank in a group. This stems from being raised in a military household.

Flaws:

Clumsy. Having spent roughly half of her life without walking, having working legs again took some getting used to and sometimes Phaedra still has trouble utilizing her leg full range of movement. This can affect a harmless conversation or even a deadly fight at least until she is able to train her mind and avatar's body to become accustomed to her legs once again. If one comments or teases her about her clumsiness, Phaedra will become embarrassed and attempt to make excuses, some more far-fetched than others.

Overzealous. Phaedra is a very loyal person and once something (whether it be an ideal, building or group) or someone has earned her loyalty and respect, she becomes a bit overzealous in defending it against even the barest of slights. This can make her come off a bit bigoted until she cools down.

Proud. Developed from both nature and nurture due to her Marine father and disability, Phaedra has become a very proud person, showing excessive self-esteem, and will often shirk help from others for the sake of pride. But this pride only extends as far as her mortality becomes apparent, she refuses to die for the sake of her pride.

Romantically disinclined. Barely a year after a rough breakup with a boyfriend of a year and a half, Phaedra is still extremely distrustful of anyone that expresses physical or romantic interest in her, sure that they are simply being 'nice', or will change their minds after actually being with her (romantically or physically). Thus she holds any pursuers at arm's length out of self preservation.
