Tristan smiled and went to attack another of the foes just as Calrex defeated one. It seemed they were really getting into the swing of things. Well sure, Calrex was losing HP from this fight, but with Tristan being the other main tank, it wasnt a necessity for Calrex to remain at max HP for the entire fight, which was handy to say the least. He charged forward to attack one of the hounds ripe for the taking, but sadly, he didn't quite manage to hit, since the hound jumped to the side of his spear thrust, leaving them ready to be attacked. Tristan sighed and stepped back, rolling his shoulders ready for the next attack.

Xion watched as the other members of the party managed to town down one of the hounds, reducing their numbers a little. "Just a few more to go and then the big guy himself" Xion said with a grin before going for a quick stab at one of the hounds, but missing by a couple of inches. With a shrug, he backed off, waiting for another chance to attack the beasts. "Sorry about that" he said.

Mack pushed himself up off of the ground as Calrex handily dispatched the hell hound that the massive blonde man had tackled to the ground. As he was pushing to his feet Mack noted that both Xion and Tristan had missed their own attacks on the beasts. Already the massive dogs were massing for another group assault on Calrex, not that the tank seemed to be having any trouble at all in dealing with the creatures. As the beasts packed together and went in to strike at the heavily armored tank Mack swung Guillotine through the air in an overhanded chop. For the first time all battle, or so it seemed, the blonde warrior's blade found its intended target. In this case, it was the lead dog in the pack. As the animal leaped the bearded head of Guillotine intercepted the dog and drove it into the ground. As Mack jerked the weapon free he was pleased to note that the animal had lost nearly half of its remaining health in one blow.

After finishing the first hound Calrex looked as Tristan and Xion attempted to strike at the dogs, their attacks flying clear of their marks. At the same time the three remaining monsters leapt at him, attempting to get a strike. However, he was ready as he easily sidestepped each strike before seeing Mack's axe come crashing down, dealing some heavy damage to the second hound. He gave a smirk and a nod before rushing forward, planning to follow up the strike, but his sword missed by a few inches.

Leaping back before the hound had a chance to retaliate Calrex quickly flicked his sword into a defensive series of spins, his <<Parry>> skill triggering as the spins became a defensive barrier around his person.

Tristan rolled his shoulders and prepared himself for the attack, placing a foot back. He then ran forward, spear in hand, and charged straight at one of the hounds. Sadly though these hounds were being more of a pest than he had anticipated and they gave him quite some trouble in terms of actually hitting them. Even though he had yet to take damage because of the hot conditions, he still theorised that the heat was maybe affecting his aim as he was doing rather abysmally. He shrugged and couldn't think of what else it could be though, so just continued on anyway and waited for the others to attack.

Xion frowned as he watched the rest of the party bar Mack miss their marks. "Maybe...it's the heat..." he muttered, it was obvious that it was messing with at the leas their aim, even though they were not taking any damage. Xion then looked at the group of beasts, finding an opening in their formation. Running as quick as he could, Xion charged forwards and struck the lead hound with his shield, before following up by plunging his blade into it's chest, bringing it's health to dangerously low levels. 

 

"This is taking too long..." he said as he backed off.

As Mack backed off from his assault on the hell hounds he watched through slitted grey eyes as first Calrex and then Tristan both tried their luck with the dogs only to miss. Then Xion darted in an plunged his own blade into the chest of one of the creatures after bashing it with his shield. Quicker that one would have thought possible in a hulking monstrosity the size of Mack, the blonde man darted into the opening created by Xion in a swirl of crimson and white, looking the part of a living flame, given the environment. As he swung Guillotine through the air he noted that the gash he had opened up on his last strike was bleeding freely. With a swish of the hardened steel head of his axe, Mack brought the weapon down on the hell hound's neck and neatly severed the head from the rest of the body before the creature dissolved into pixels. "Two down," he called out to the rest of the group.

Calrex watched as his teammates continued to strike the second hound until it eventually fell, making note of the total monster death count. He watched as the two remaining hounds rushed at him once again, since he was still the one with the most aggro. Flicking the Grand Blade into a reverse grip he watched the fourth dog leapt up to strike at him, merely scratching at air as he stepped to the side.

As his eyes locked on the third hound he quickly switched to a hammer grip as his sword lit alight with a light blue hue as he brought it up to his face. As the creature got into striking range he used his Swallow Return technique. The first diagonal rising slash came from the bottom bottom left to upper right. Second came from bottom right to upper left. The final attack came as a cleaving vertical blow as the three struck the dog almost simultaneously, sending it flying back.

"Looks like the heat isn't really wearing down on me as much as before. That's good to know."

With the current threats a decent distance again he activated his <<Parry>> skill once again.

Tristan wasted no time with his next attack, focusing on the opponent that had been made by all the others since two were down. He looked the Hound in the eye, then raced right at them with the spear in his hand, trying to hit the foe with his spear. For once for what felt like a lifetime, he lucked out and hit the mob, damaging it. It wasn't quite enough to open a wound or paralyse it, but Tristan was just relieved he hit the actual opponent. He smiled to himself and stepped back, waiting for the others to start their own attacks.

Xion watched as the group worked together to bring one of the hounds down into the red zone, their numbers had dwindled to two, and Xion hoped that the fight would soon be over. 

He sighed as he looked at the beast, it's face contorted into a snarl. He then charged, driving his blade into the beast as it let out a howl of pain, it's healf dropping by half.

Stepping back from the fray as Calrex, Tristan, and Xion each took it in turns to attack the hell hounds, Mack considered the tactical options. Of the four hounds that had initially launched the assault on the party, only two were now remaining and, of those two one was nearly dead. It made more sense, to the blonde Grandmaster, for the group to turn its attention to addressing the most significant remaining threat while allowing one of their number to deal with the hound that had its health gauge into the red zone. His mind made up, Mack issued his orders. "Xion," he called over the din of the snarling, growling, snapping dogs. "Focus your attention on the hound with his health in the red zone. Tristan, Calrex, and myself will attack the other dog. Let's see if we can't finish off the two beasts at the same time and move deeper into the caves!" Suiting word to action, Mack burst forward, charging the fourth hell hound and swinging Guillotine in an uppercutting slice as he moved. The steel head of the blade bit deep into the side of the dog as Mack ripped it upwards and through the animal as the canine focused itself on Calrex, leaping forward with its companion as both of the dogs locked their jaws around the tank's legs.

Hearing Mack's change in strategy Calrex gave a nod as he quickly rushed towards the higher health hound, flicking the Grand Blade into a reverse grip. As he got into striking range he quickly pulled his sword arm back before slashing forward as he stepped past the creature with a passing cut, the blade cutting deep before coming out the other side.

His attack complete Calrex leapt back as he nodded to his teammates, "Anyone should be able to take down either of these dogs now. That leaves...eight more to go I think."

Tristan readied himself to charge with an attack, going in for the closest Hound. It seems though he had been cursed with poor luck, missing the hound and leaving himself looking rather silly with a miss. Tristan sighed with having missed his opponent, finding it rather frustrating with both opponents being so close to death. Tristan readied himself to soon attack again, waiting for the others to strike first before attacking.

Mack watched through his grey eyes as Calrex triggered his parry ability, not that Mack could really see that the tank had much of a need for using it. After all, the hell hounds had barely scratched the man. Still, it was getting bothersome trying to bring the beasts down. With a bellow, Mack charged forward to take his turn on the attack. Brandishing Guillotine with a twirl above his head, Mack turned slightly to the side and buried the heavy steel head of the axe deep in the side of the hound he had previously targeted. The force of the impact further exacerbated the beast's previous wound, which was bleeding freely onto the rocky ground, hissing and steaming where the blood struck the rocks.

Seeing yet another blow landed on the hounds Calrex gave a nod as he readied sword, rushing forward as he attempted to strike. Unfortunately this time it seemed the heat had gotten to him for a second as he felt his arm grow weak, whiffing air as he stopped his advance, "Alright, just catch my breath for a second."

Shaking his head he readied himself for the next attack, activating his <<Parry>> skill as he looked around, making sure the others were doing alright.

Xion watched as the group worked together to bring the number of the hounds down to three, one of which was a single strike from death. One of the other players could take that one out, Xion had a puppy to paralyse. Setting his eyes on one of the hounds, his blade practically glowing with sparks and bolts  as he charged frowards, thrusting the slicing Maelstrom into one of the hounds, paralysing is before kicking it off of his blade.
