Emerath had spent the entire evening gathering materials, and he was ready to make some stuff. As he began, he started with notes here and there, a basic craft, then progressively as his crafting day went on his items got better and better. He took notes the entire time, and it seemed like the greenish blue reflective herb that he found was in fact a good alternative to the Hill Root he had been using previously. He just had to learn how to use it! Emerath smiled despite himself as he looked around at the nice collection of potions ranging from bad to rare, before collecting them and sorting them to where they needed to be.

Seul figured now would've been as good a day as any to stock up on a couple of healing items to carry into battle. Such a luxury seemed like a pipe dream only a few days ago when he was still only at level one. Until he obtained the armor he wanted alchemical products would serve as his life line in the face of death and he had heard the rumors of a shop up on the fourth floor that kept them in stock. The two day journey between the second and third floors wasn't entirely bad. At some points along the way he believed the cold environment that was the fourth floor was more deadly than the monsters that inhabited it. It wasn't like he wanted to be poorly equipped. Besides his beginner gear wasn't that bad and he couldn't waste a single Col on pointless things like warm clothing.

"A-Anybody... Achoo!" The entrance was anything but subtle as it caused many of the bottle and silverware in the cozy shop to rattle on their shelves. After letting the shop's warm interior sink into his bones he tried once more to catch the shopkeeper's attention. "Anybody home?"

Emerath heard the telltale sound of a customer via the bell on his door, although this customer made their presence a little more known than the usual ones. He heard a sneeze so hard that his shelves themselves just about rattled, and Emerath had to catch a bottle before it fell off the table and smashed into the ground. He quickly put it back, this time farther away from the edge, and made his way out of his lab to greet the person.

"Ah, welcome!" he said, walking up to the young man and giving him a smile and holding out his hand to shake, "My name is Emerath, what can I do for you?"

After Emerath's recent spur of success, he found himself ready to take on his lab once again. He had no idea what to expect, but he had been finding a range of success using the greenish blue herb that he had found out in the snow. Perhaps it had been worth it to brave the cold and complain for a few hours after all. But, as he started his work for the day, all he managed was to replicate another experiment he had forgotten about and lost in his notes, and then didn't see much success anywhere else. He was starting to have so many notes that some things were getting lost in the shuffle. That wasn't good. Emerath sighed and figured he'd try again tomorrow!

After a moment the shopkeeper by the name of Emerath revealed himself and Seul gladly extended his own semi-shivering arm to shake his hand. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but then again many salespeople did if only not to lose a customer. Not that it mattered that much. If he could sell the boy something that'd keep him alive just a little longer then whatever business the man conducted outside of his shop was none of Seul's concern. "Hey, I'm Seul and I've been looking for a place to get some healing items. For now it'd be somewhat risky to go into the field without some. Do you have anything in stock?"

Emerath looked at Seul with a gleam in his eye. "In fact, yes, I do have some in stock. I have a healing potion of every type, ranging from healing 15 HP up to 25 HP, with varying prices of course." He moved over to a small sign that had the prices posted and then over to each of the potions, taking the uncommon and rare one and placing them on the counter next to the display which carried his perfect potion. "Prices range from 250 Col to 1000 Col for these items, and you can also pay me in materials if you see fit to do so. Let me know what you'd like and we can see about striking a deal," he said as he gave Seul a smile.

  • 2 weeks later...

Kalesh couldn't help but smile at the sign as he entered the shop, looking around curiously while letting the warmth of the building free him of the chill of the floor. He had an idea what he wanted but he made sure to fill out two order forms with trained ease. "Heyo, I'm here to imbue myself with the power of SCIENCE" He says with a playful look stuck on his face as he pushes the two order forms forward. "No real rush, but whenever you can, I would love these." He smiled as he made two coins worth one thousand col appear in his palm, just to prove he could pay when the order was ready. "Never hurts to be prepared~"

Emerath was delighted to see a customer come into his shop. It had been quite a bit of time since he had crafted, mostly due to guild and other matters that required his attention as of late. He walked out of his lab after hearing the familiar ding of the door's bell and saw a red haired man filling out some orders. As the man filled out the order forms, Emerath made his way to the tea set on the bar, and poured the man a cup. It was always polite to at least offer, he thought, as he placed the cup down next to where the man was filling out the order forms, along with a small pitcher of cream and a small bowl of sugar cubes.

Emerath couldn't help but chuckle as he was offered the order forms and the man noted that he was ready to be imbued with the power of science. Emerath liked this man already. He accepted the order forms, and gave a nod at the showing of Col, though he wasn't really as worried about payment or lack thereof. Emerath stored the order forms in a filing box on the bar that he kept along with his notes. He had never made those types of potions before, but he knew he was at least skilled enough to do so, and figured it was only a matter of time before he could deliver.

Finally, after all was said and done, Emerath held out a hand to the man to shake, "It's wonderful to meet you, and my name is Emerath. Thanks for stopping by my shop and placing an order, as soon as they are completed I'll be sure to send word to you right away."

Kalesh smiled happily at the offered tea, he hadn't drank any since the real world, the closest he had was coffee! He happily put four cubes into his tea and a dab of creme before he stirred it and took a sip, smiling happily as he enjoyed the cup. "Mm. Thank you, I'm Kalesh by the way!" He happily watched as Emerath looked his order over and accepted it, having been sipping away while the other player considered the ups and down of the order. "Ah, thank you very much. I hope to hear from you soon!" He says before setting the empty cup down on a tiny plate. "Thank you again for the tea, I've always loved the stuff." He chuckled happily and gave him a nod in thanks before turning to continue the never ending quest of MMO to kill things dead!

Emerath waved to Kalesh as he left the shop, and had thanked him again for his patronage. With a whistle and a bit of a spring in his step he made his way back into his lab to begin crafting once again. Emerath was honestly completely unsure how to make the types of potions that Kalesh wanted. Really, he had only made health potions and thought he was actually pretty decent at that. And so, he set to work, taking notes and trying to figure out how to achieve the desired results. Unfortunately, while not a bad day for crafting, he didn't get what he wanted. But he'd try again later after studying his notes and results.

Emerath would not be deterred this time. He knew he was capable of making the items that were ordered, and so he set out in his lab to try once again. He started mixing and brewing, referring to his notes occasionally to try to produce the proper results. He managed to make a decent set of things today, but he had not quite managed to make it to the level that was desired. He was close though, and he knew he was close. Tomorrow, he was sure he'd be able to make it.

Emerath sat in his shop going over his notes for quite some time. He had gotten close yesterday, but he hadn't achieved the desired results, and he wasn't entirely sure on how to reach his goal. He decided to try to build on what he knew, but this ended up backfiring more often than not, and didn't really produce any better results than the day before. In fact, things had gotten worse! Emerath did take solace in the fact that he ranked up, however. And tomorrow would be another day. Perhaps the extra craft could help him achieve the desired results?

Emerath wasn't making as much progress as he would've hoped the past few days since receiving the order. He really wanted to make sure that he was even capable of making these potions, especially if they would be on demand. Emerath got to work in his lab for the next day, and the day seemed to initially not as good as he would've hoped, especially after a potion or two ended up blowing up in his face and sending smoke throughout the lab. He had even managed to drop a few bottles as he cursed at himself for doing so. But, it seemed to all be worth it. Finally, Emerath made one of the potions he had been looking for. Finally!

Emerath was satisfied with yesterday's success, and took that good feeling going into today. He walked into his lab, his head held high, and he pulled up his notes from the previous success. The potion he needed to make now was of a similar quality and type, but the buffs it provided were different, so he'd still have to experiment a bit. Thankfully, his previous success seemed to pay off as he found himself blowing through items, making a few decent quality potions and then finally the perfect potion that he had been looking for. He did a jump for joy as he got the success he needed, and despite that he had ended the day on a failure, he still felt great.

Emerath was satisfied with the way things were going in his shop, in terms of crafting at least. After returning from his most recent Earning a Living quest, he was satisfied with the results and was ready to craft the night away. As such, he started up the burners and set to work. His notes were pretty thorough at this point, and while getting the actual recipe down was a bit of a challenge (as evidenced by the occasional failure) success was all coming together. He even managed to make a brand new potion he had never made before! He was rather excited about that one.

Emerath had learned in his previous crafting day the art of making a potion that specialized in enhancing his desire to craft, and would most likely do the same for any other crafter who drank it. He was a bit selfish this time around, wanting to put as much of his focus on possible as maximizing his own crafts rather than making money. Besides, it had been quite a bit of time since he had gotten any customers, and pushing for products in his storefront was what he would need to do if he actually wanted to get the customers involved. As such, he went into his lab, his Renewed Inspiration in his hand, as he began to craft. He referred to his notes, and one of the first things he wanted to do was push himself to make another copy of the potion, although this proved more difficult than he would have thought. It wasn't until after he had actually drank the potion that he found got himself another copy, but he had managed to make quite a few good potions besides, so it wasn't a horribly lost day. Emerath nodded at his work, and decided to go take a rest.

Flints had to be quick, she ran into Emerath's quiet shop and quickly smacked into the poor unsuspecting  alchemist and quickly backed away, "Emerath! Quickly! I need healy things!!!" Flints wildly flailed about his concoctions and poked at each one "I also need stuff so I don't run out of stamina!" Please!" She sounded more desperate as time went on and even managed to step in Antillian in the commotion, which forced a Yelp out of the large wolf that flanked her. "Sorry!" She quickly fumbled through her menu and left the amount of col owed blank. "Uh, I'd assume you'd be able to pick me the essentials and I'll pay you what you need!"

Emerath had just finished brewing up a new set of potions when he walked out of his lab and ran smack into Flints of all people. He grabbed her so she didn't fall after running into him and held her arms as she flailed around and seemed wild eyed and confused.

When she had seemed to finally finish, he continued to hold her arms and looked at her and said, "Flints... Flints! It's okay! What in the world has gotten into you?!" Emerath shook his head and said, "I'll sell you potions. That's what this shop is for, just calm down and stop flailing before you break something, or me!"

He shook her a bit to get her to focus and said, "I have 5 basic health potions I can sell you. I'll sell them to you at half price. 200 Col a piece. How many do you want? And for goodness sakes, what is going on that gotten you so riled up?"

Flints stared into Emerath's eyes while he held onto her and finally relaxed a little. She looked down as he spoke finally figuring out what she wanted. "Ah, I just needed potions and stamina stuff before it got later in the day. I'm trying my hand at questing with a friend, it wouldn't hurt to try and keep myself alive!" She quickly fumbled through her menu and offered up 800 Col to Emerath. "I know eventually I'll put these to use, plus me and you have a bunch more quests to go on! So see it as I'm trying to keep myself healthy." She laughed.

Emerath produced a sack of potions for the woman with a few motions of his inventory as he pulled up menu options for his shop. "No problem, 4 potions coming right up." He put them in his trade window with her, and accepted the trade between them for the items and then he smiled at her and said, "I'm glad to hear that you're out making friends in the world of Aincrad. But you know, you really should be taking your medicine man along. Better to not have to use the potions if I can just heal you, right?" He patted Flints on the arm and continued to smile at her, "It'd make me, and probably Endilix, feel a lot better if I was there." He chuckled, "It's not like I'd get in the way. I'm just a support, and I can punch things when not busy healing. If anything it'd just make things go by faster, right?"

Additional Notes:

  • -4 Red Hearts (+15 HP Potions) - Given to Flints
  • +800 Col - Taken from Flints
