[F4] The Magic of Science! - Alchemist Lab (Open!)

Flints had finally calmed down from the whirl wind of emotions she had become and stared calmly into Emerath's eyes. He was right. If anything he would make the quests go along faster. And keep her alive. She smiled warmly at him and gently stroked his free hand's wrist. "Okay master, I'll keep that in mind!" She winked and quickly turned to leave, she knew they would meet again very soon, if not in the battle field he was just a few steps away from Endilix's bar.

Endilix walked next door to his brother's shop, having only just missed his mate leaving. He pushed in, and looked around, before hurrying down the stairs to his brother. He walked up to Emerath, and continued to look around nervously, "Hey, I got your message. Damn you work quick, brother! Does she know anything?" He felt like he was doing some back alley deal, and all he was trying to do was surprise his mate, but considering how she came and went finding the time to actually surprise her with their plans was proving a bit more difficult than he had expected. "Oh, I suppose I should give you the Col for the VIP Voucher, eh? How much did it run you?" Endilix pulled out a sack of Col, expecting a hefty price.

Emerath was delighted to see his brother, as he pulled out the freshly converted heavy armor for Endilix to see, "Here, it's all ready, and no, she was in here talking about going on quests with some new friends. I think I convinced her to accompany her on further adventures, so that should put our mind at ease." He let Endilix admire the armor before placing it in a trade window with his brother, "I really hope she enjoys this. It's well deserved after all the hard work she has put in with us. And well, for putting up with us in general." He gave his brother a wink, before accepting his half of the trade for the Heavy Armor and saying offhand, "The Voucher cost 1000 Col. So once that's paid off, everything is free and clear."

Endilix nodded to his brother and accepted his half of the trade after putting in for 1000 Col to be traded to Emerath. He smiled and as he pulled the armor out and admired it one more time he said, "I think she's going to love it, stats, style, everything. And I have one more special thing planned for it." He smiled to his brother, he wasn't about to give up all the secrets. He clapped his brother on the arm and said, "Thanks again. Your connections and knowledge pay off once again, and I couldn't ask for a better brother." He was practically grinning from ear to ear at all of this, and he quickly stuffed the heavy armor back into his inventory. "Alright, I need to get back to my shop. If she came to visit you, maybe that means she's coming home soon!" He waved to Emerath and dashed back to his own shop next door.

Now that Emerath had finally returned, and had made good on cleaning up the place and testing the equipment, he figured it was time to drag out some of the old materials and give crafting a go again. He fired up the burner, and got the beakers ready, before pulling out some of the roots he had gotten at some time or another, stored away safely in his inventory. He didn't like to make use of the system when he could help it, but sometimes he just couldn't. Lesser of two evils he supposed.

The first root seemed to make a simple potion. He had remembered that this concoction was good for simple HP remedies. But the second one seemed to be too much for the old dusty burner. Before he knew it, the burner began to spew out gas, the flames growing high and nearly encompassing the second beaker. Emerath gasped, and tried his best to turn the knob to turn it off but it was too hot, and within seconds the beaker, the concoction, and the burner had all exploded into pixels, but not before leaving behind a disgusting burnt smell.

Emerath coughed and ran to open a window, letting out the vile smoke, before exhaling with a heavy sigh. Not bad, but not good. On one hand he had made a potion. He hadn't completely lost his touch. On the other hand, he had destroyed his old equipment. He supposed he'd have to grab some more when he got more materials.

Emerath had gone out gathering, and had returned home with a renewed sense of vigor. Well, that and he had gotten some sleep, had a nice stew, and then documented and took notes on each different plant type he had gathered. But then he had a renewed sense of vigor. It didn't matter too much anyway, what mattered was his experiments and what they yielded. So he got to work on one of the new flowers he had picked. A simple yellow flower, that seemed easy enough to mix into a potion. He but it in the burner, and of the five flowers that he worked with, only one yielded any notable results, that being a simple health potion. But, rather than be upset, Emerath simply noted this down, and stored his notes for the next day.

Another day, another round of potion making. Emerath was determined not to let today slip through his fingers like he had the previous day. He pored over his notes from the day before, and decided to opt into a different approach for the yellow flower he had been working with. It was clear that the flower made something, he simply had to find out what. So into the beaker it went, and one, two, and poof, he had actually managed to make a more complicated potion, after only one failure! Smiling, Emerath realized that this craft couldn't get any better, and so he quickly grabbed some papers and jotted down the results to see if he could replicate it later.

In the meantime, Emerath had ranked up, and wanted to try something new. Crystals. He knew their power, and he knew their cost, but he also knew the profit potential. And so, he started to work with some of the other instruments in his shop to create the crystallization process. He used a material he was used to, some roots from the first floor mountains, in making his HP potions. He had some middling success, but all things considered for his first time making it, he wasn't disappointed. A couple of hardy Mitigation crystals and he was well on his way. A good day of crafting, if Emerath said so himself. Which he did.

The day before, Emerath had managed to create a perfect craft. He had taken notes, studied them, and planned on replicating that success today. It should be simple. Just follow the same steps, receive the same results. And so, he fired up his burner, and put his materials in, and did just that. Same steps, same result, as expected. But that was the easy part. That was science. Now, Emerath was going to go back to his challenge. Making crystals. He knew he had to see success eventually, and with a Crafter's Respite potion in hand, he was going to make sure he stayed here until he saw it.

With each crystal made, Emerath took notes, and as he got about halfway through the day, he realized he was starting to tire, with nothing more than middling success. But that was what his potion was for. So he drank, and he could feel his brain burst with ideas, as he suddenly put his nose back to the grindstone, and put out not one, but two duplicate sets of perfect crystals. Quickly, he took notes on his successes, and what materials made them, and all in all felt accomplished. Now, the only issue was his dwindling supply of materials. Perhaps it was time for another visit to the bountiful garden.
