Mythee 0 Posted July 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2013 In the Forum Outlines and Brainstorming thread, at some point we discussed what could be done about the floors and towns we have no information on. According to the wiki, Aincrad is an iron-and-stone made floating castle that has about ten kilometers floor base diameter and consists of a hundred floors stacking straight upwards, meaning that each floor's diameter is a bit smaller than the previous one. On each floor, there are a couple of large cities along with countless small scale towns and villages, forests, plains, and even lakes. Only one stairway links each floor to another, and the stairways exists beyond the boss room of each dungeons. The «Teleport Gates» of every unlocked cities are connected to one another. However, they only have descriptions of 33 of these floors. Mostly vague ones, with no mentions of the different areas on each floor. I found someone's personally put together list of information they could find on each floor described in the novels, which gives us a little bit more to work with. Floor 100 - Scarlet-Jade Castle Nevi suggested we have a handbook to present information for notable locations on floors: For each floor section, we should have a two stickies. One for an OP city, and one that lists "notable places" in that area for users to decide what seeing to make their rps in. Then in the handbook OOC it can list all notable places in one spot and what floor its on. I think the same was suggested for a list of NPCs and whatnot. It could get rather tedious for someone to take submissions for areas/NPCs and classify them in an organized fashion... an alternative could be to let every floor section, or even floor, have its own handbook thread within the forum section itself. That way players could easily submit for a specific floor and find information about the floors they are RPing in just as easily, in a few clicks. Also, since there's no Handbook thread(s) yet, gon just put this here. xD It is like a massive skeleton being unearthed by the slow archaeologist of time. The mountain sinews and crevices, filled with ash, resemble beds of fossilized clay and sand; a pale gray texture brushed away from brown ridges like smooth, aged bone. Great sheets and plumes of windblown dust waft off those polished peaks that snake across the landscape, filling the sky with an endless mist through which the sun could no longer be seen. During the day, the field is basked in a uniform, colourless glow, and the wind is a distant howl that seems to call from far beyond the curtains of time. In the darkness of night the wind stops and no light falls from above, but the beds of ash spread across the range take on a transparent property and an earthen-hued glow. They are full of ripples and depth like water, and through their veil the shadowy silhouettes and forms of fossils both gigantic and minuscule can be studied. Welcome to the floor called Persephone's Traverse. Dunno if it would ever be used, but might as well get the creative juices flowing.
Shark 0 Posted December 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2013 Definitely a good idea to put notable locations. There should be slots available for people to submit details or ideas regarding floor description/information. This could be things that people make note of danger or something important on a given floor.
