[SHOP] Baiting By The Beach [Rank 3 Fisherman]

Recommended Posts

><> Baiting By The Beach <><
Current Location: Twelfth Floor, floating in a boat nearby one of the town's borders. The boat is tethered to a dock by some rope.

Kalesh felt no desire to tie himself down to a shop. Fishing was something he did to pass time or while he was resting from exploring an area. With that in mind, his 'shop' was basically just a cooler he would place next to himself whenever he went fishing. On the side a piece of wood was attached which showed his current rank. He tended to be in somewhat populated areas but there were times where he decided he would fish in strange or far away places just to see if he could find anything interesting to catch. Important note: If you don't obey the Current Location without ICly saying you've PMed him to meet elsewhere, you will be ignored as you are not talking to Kalesh but are somewhere else in the world.

Stat Boosters!

On the cooler's handle where he keeps his fish for selling sits a pink bunny plushy that fills you with a sense of unnatural dread the longer you stare at it. (+1 Craft Attempt)

Attached to his fishing rod is a special line that turns invisible upon contact with water. (+1 CD)

He is wearing boots that seem to steady him to the ground to prevent being pulled into the water. (+1 Crafting Experience)

Price: Barter system. Either give me a price or offer an item in exchange, that is all. No price will be given, you will just be told "Offer."

Kalesh stretched out a bit on the rock he had been using as a chair, laid out like a cat enjoying a sunbeam until he figured he should actually do some fishing. He only had one material to use bait right now but he figured he was better off using it than hording it for no purpose. With a shrug of his shoulder he takes out his rod and points it to the water, tossing a line out into the water to see if anything bit. Unfortunately the only item he managed to gain from the water was a soggy boot. He didn't yet know if there was a use for it, or if he could or couldn't use it as bait or something. In either case, he had an item he couldn't really sell.

He felt a little experimental today. It hadn't been that long ago since he wiped out a doppelganger called Gemini and got some of its transformative essence. So he decided to see if it would be good for fishing! As far as he knew the stuff would magically turn into a worm or something appetizing once in the water, either way, he was putting it in the water. He stretched himself out and then attatched the piece of doppelganger to his fishing rod and cast the line into the water!

An hour passes with Kalesh glancing up at the sky and humming a tune, and then he feels a tug... and then suddenly a sharp pull! He gasps as he struggles to keep his hold, tugging back hard to keep the fish from getting away or taking him with it! This goes on for several long minutes, trying to reel it in, until finally his rod loses the battle for him. It snaps in two, the part in his hands whipping him across the face and doing substantial damage, leaving his face scarred with red pixels temporarily. "MOTHER-" All further dialogue was cut to ensure a family friendly fishing environment. For fifteen minutes.

After having worked out his stress and returning to this spot another day, he decided he would get his fishing attempts out of the way while he could. He took a deep breath and threw a line into the water with one of his materials as bait for the various fish that populated Aincrad. He figured that after today he would try another spot, no point sitting around the same desolate location for no real purpose. After about fifteen minutes he felt a tug and tugged back, hoping to not get a repeat of the previous day! With a mighty pull he reeled in the small fish that had been on his line. After checking the quality to confirm it was just a regular fish he put it into the cooler next to him.

Kalesh was fairly content with his previous fishing attempt not ending in utter failure, a relief considering how poorly it could have ended a second time. He had one more attempt today so he decided to put it to use. He doubted anybody was going to drop by, and if they did, he didn't have all that much to offer them to begin with. With the line set in the water again Kalesh once again played the waiting game. Staring at the water but unable to see anything beneath. He sighed softly while waiting but shot to his legs when he felt a tug, returning the favor several times over, reeling in the fish and happily giving him an even better quality fish once he had it appraised! He could either sell it or use it himself, either would be useful.

Another day, but he was a little low on materials today. He only had the one at the moment, but he might gather some more later if he felt the need and got some more gear finished. As it stood though, he simply relaxed back  against the trunk of the tree he was fishing from, high in the air and staring down into the small lake beneath him. His cooler hung up on a nearby and sturdy looking branch. After several hours of waiting he raised a brow and reeled his line in, sighing at the unfortunate sight of a dead fish. It was useless to him, really, as nobody would want to buy it so he just threw it into his inventory for the time being until he decided how to deal with his cruddier catches. As well as the fact he lacked any more bait.

He had managed to get a nice little supply of bait so he figured he should get to work on using it, hopefully to get something nice that someone could use. All in all he needed to keep going at it if he was ever going to be able to catch bigger fish without issue and level up in this skill. Just as the previous day, however, he found himself fishing up a simple dead fish that he had no particular use for, making him sigh softly as he put it away anyways. With his second piece of bait on the line he throws his line out again and waits, feeling a rather strong tug he gasps and tries to wrangle the fish back, only for the wieght to suddenly disappear, making him blink as he lifted his line up and found himself without fish or bait on his second attempt, making him sigh softly.

The clock ticked to a new day, and so he had some new fishing attempts to use! It was a little mean that the system wouldn't let him do as often as he wished, but it gave him a few hours to just relax and attempt to make a profit. All things considered though, odds were stacked against him as far as getting anything at first. He would need to keep at it for a nice long while before he would be getting anything consistent. Today however the only thing that was going to consistent were his failures. His first lined fish had no resistance, since it was dead, and the second followed suit and left him with nothing to pride himself in for that day.

At this point he was certain the system was either glitched or intentionally screwing with him. Any time he had something substantial on the line, it snapped. Any time it didn't snap, he normally had something he would never have a use for. All in all, this had been a resource sink and little else, making him sigh in dissatisfaction while he started to make a boot collection it seemed.

Kalesh smiled as he approached this new day with all the joy and happiness he was able, smiling from his perch up in the trees to say "I will bash my skull against this stone wall as many times as it takes, I am going to rank this skill up!" He announces as he tosses out his line, determination stuck on his face. At least at first. His first catch was a boot, and then his second turned out to be a dead fish! "What luck I have!" He says as sarcastically as one could physically be without catching fire.

Ever testing his luck in the hopes of getting a decent fish he throws his line into the water, sighing dramatically in wait for his chance to shine. He had a feeling about today, not sure why. The feeling was proven right as the first fish he hooked that day wasn't dead, but his biggest fish to date, as well as his rarest! He happily throws it into his cooler all-too eagerly! His second attempt was no so lucky, only scoring him a dead fish to add to his unseen collection.

Kalesh sighed softly from up high in his little perch. It seemed that he was detirmined to keep trying, to just mindlessly grind his way to rank 2 in the hopes that would somehow help his chances in fishing. He swore, whoever created the fishing system was sadistic to make the margins for failure so large. So far as he could tell, the boots and dead fish could be removed outright and cause no issues, since the crafting chance is still the deciding factor if, and only if, the the line didn't snap as well. While silently whining in his head he managed to pull up two useless boots which he swore that the moment he had ten, he would demand someone buy them.

Kalesh decided he would try fishing one more time before calling it quits for the foreseeable future. If he caught one fish, no matter the quality, he would call it a day and maybe even try again! With such positive thoughts in mind he threw out his line and waited happily for the first tug on his line! It felt heavy, and Kalesh tugged back in relation to that, his line straining but not enough for the fish to snap it! It did not help him though, as a moment later the line went limp as the fish escaped with its meal. He took a deep calming breath before he threw the line out again. He had another attempt, he would put it to use. This was a mistake. Minutes later he pulled his line from the water to discover a boot. With a yell of frustration he threw the boot into the water and got down from his fishing spot, stomping his way to town to tear down every flier he had posted. He refused to give people false hopes that fishing was a relevant system in its current state.

Kalesh decided today he would attempt to fish on the new twelfth floor, it was a massive swamp so it had to be filled with fish as far as he was willing to think on it. He threw his line out into the water and waited for several long minutes before finally feeling a tug! With hope in his heart he pulled the line hard and gasped at the discovery that he now had an uncommon quality fish to (potentially) sell! "Fiiiiinally!" He says as a tear is almost brought to his eye. He tosses the fish into his cooler back and sighed happily as he rested back in the boat he had been using to get around the floor!

Zandra was out for some exploring when she saw a lake. And there was a man on the beach. Zandra walked down to him."Heya Kalesh! Hows the fishing going?" when she came closer saw his fishes he had for sale."Naaw, what a cute fish you have there."she looked at the description. It seemed the fish increased chances to finf stuff."I would like to buy that one. And then if you catch any more, either like that one or a rare one, I would like to order three more."She opened her inventory."would eigth materials be enough for them? Dont know how hard and how much they are worth, dont wanna be rude to offer a too low price." She gave him a friendly smile while waiting for his answer.

Kalesh blinked as he looked over to see who it was, seeing a familiar face, and apparently his first customer "Hey! Fishing is... going." He chuckled softly "Not the best profession, lots of 'maybes' have to be made." Kalesh hummed in thought, bringing his hand to his face as he thought about her offer. "... That seems like more than a good price to me." He grinned happily and said "Though, I think I should warn you it might take a loooong time and many failures before I catch another... We'll see!" He says though, a decent amount curious why she'd pick a fisherman over a chef for such matters but not about to spit in the face of good fortune. "I've actually just run out of bait, so this is a reel help!" he smiles at his pun and reaches into the cooler, tapping the fish and putting it into his inventory and then opening a trade request with Zandra. "Just to make sure you don't drop it." He winked as he put the fish into the request if she accepted the request. "I'm willing to give you this fish for two materials. If you'd like, I'd actually feel a little guilty if I took the rest and failed horribly. If you want, you could instead give me three materials now to see if you want to give the other three." He chuckles, very much aware of the steep failure chance of fishing. "It's possible I'll go days and days without one fish."

Kalesh smiled and said "Well, let's find out." He chuckled softly as he throws out his line. His first attempt ended with a failure of the worst kind, a boot which was not even salvageable for his collection. Next however, he did manage to catch a small fishie. On inspecting it however he let out a sigh as he put it in the cooler until he decided what to do with it. "Don't get your hopes up, that one is a bad quality. At best he could be put in a bowl as a pet." He chuckled softly as he put his line into the water a third and final time. On reeling it in he got another utter failure, the item shattering apart without even being collectible. "...And with that, I have used all my crafting attempts." He shrugs his shoulders and stretches his arms out. "Tsk. Five more experience until rank two..." He mumbles as he looks to Zandra with a shrug. Such was the fate of the matter.

Kalesh stretched himself out before taking his final material from his inventory. He looked it over with curious eyes before shrugging his shoulder and attaching it to his hook. He figured he might as well use it, he had nothing to pay for right now and he could always just gather some more. Lady luck however was against him today as per usual, grant him with yet another boot for his collection. "One day.." He says ominously while putting the item away in his inventory.
