Opal didn't waste a second in following up my attack. She was instantly back in action mutilating the creature's grotesque back. Her massive sword did plenty of damage before we were both forced to retreat by the flaps of the queens wings. I was sent flying backwards just as my blade was only inches from connecting with it's head only to swing at the empty air. I landed on my feet and yelled to her in defeat. "Heh and I was so close too. Guess that thing just has it out for me." I raised my thin blade in my hand and extended it straight out with my arm towards the queen like a batter signaling a home run. "Hit em where it hurts"

Just as their good luck had been strumming along, the one miss from Koumori had instinctively been passed down to Opal for when she swung, the Ifrit whizzed through the air going over head the giant insect and landing a hit into a dead tree that had now been shaken by her mighty swing attempt. Cursing lowly under her breath and retrieving the blade from its tree sheath, the woman kicked off to a small back dash to reconvene with her partner. 

"Missed by a hair line there...Its alright, we got it on the ropes though. It doesn't seem to like being hit several times in a row, it was bound to have a few tricks up its sleeve. Once more now with some Oomph!" Opal swung her blade around and around until it was nestled on her shoulder and then looked to the damaged Queen with her brightly opaque honey eyes.

Opals next attack was met with almost the same fate as mine as her blade was sent into a tree. After she retrieved it she returned to my side and gave a little pep talk. I smiled at her comments and offered my own. "It's alright it just means we're kicking it's butt (even if we can't hit it)   You got it. Oomph coming right up!" I jumped in the air and brought my sword down right on the crown of the creatures head but before I had a chance to dig deep something ripped into my side. The wasp had swung one of its huge legs at me and swatted me out of the air like an insect, stabbing me deep in the side as well. I went flying through the air and was stopped when my limp body slammed into a tree. "Argh!" I screamed as the bark splinted behind my back. The wind was completely knocked out of me but I was able to get back to my feet in seconds. I spat blood out of my mouth and picked up my sword from the ground. "Well, that hurt. I thought....I thought I was the one doing the swatting. Oww" Once I regained my breath I returned to the battle field and stood behind Opal.

Opal watched the even unfurl from her eyes, two massive attacks landing down on Koumori and all she could do was watch from the short distance before he was rag dolled into a tree, "George! Watch out for that Oooooo~" she said pointing but it was too late, her mixed and morbid humor for her friend had been hurt somewhat but he seemed to shake it off as a man would as nothing had happened, despite his owwie comment. Taking the blade back to the Wasp Queen, Opal turned and faded into the trees and her lithe body was deflected aside as the Wasp Queen was having none of that blade hit her face. After the small reflection, Opal attempted a second swing but that was classified as an illegal move and her body halted before she could strike again.

"Well...[censored]!" she exclaimed, her potty mouth now echoing through the dense trees around them.

I laughed at Opals sense of humor, despite its harshness. But hey, that was my kinda humor. "Alright I get it I hit a tree. Now just hit the thing." Of course she tried to comply but wasn't able to follow through. The creature wouldn't let her land a blow to its head and the system prevented her from attempting a follow up. An action she responded to by screaming a curse. Not that it bothered me but it was my chance. "Woah woah woah. Watch the language. Young ears." As I finished I was already sprinting towards the hovering mass. The pain still echoing in my memory, I decided it would be best to not attack from behind. As I got close the wasp swung another leg at me but this time I was ready. I ducked and slid under the skeletal arm and beneath its body. I stuck up my blade and sliced its underside as a slide through before popping up on the other side. "There we go"

What would be the chances of the female missing twice in a row with both being criticals? You have a better chance at getting struck by a bolt of lightning probably...then again, Opal had the best luck when it came down to having no luck at all and her next attack would prove that point, or lack there of an attack. As Opal maintained her position on the bug and Koumori focused on the front, Opal started to sweep to the left to try and flank the Queen while it was distracted. As soon as she lifted her blade up over her head and attempted to strike its gut from the side, the blade had sliced downwards and into the hardest armored part of the bug before her hands rattled and shook from the massive blow she had endured. Every fiber of her being was shook up to the nerve before taking a few steps back and shaking off the reverberation of the attack. 

"Mother...!!" she stopped mid sentence remember Koumori's earlier comment and let out a muttered 'trucker' to end her obsessive use of the cuss word.

I watched as Opal tried again in vein to strike the beast. She tried to hit it while I was distracting it but ended up stabbing the most protected part of its body. I giggled as she was sent vibrating backwards and straight up laughed when she caught herself cursing. "See? Isn't that better?" And then I was hit in the head. Did I never learn my lesson about getting distracted? That stupid thing backhanded me in the face while I was talking with Opal. Way to stay in the game Koumori. I shook it off and quickly cut off the same leg that had just whacked my face. Poetic justice at its finest. "Oh I'm sorry, didn't see you there."

The Wasp Queen 9/30

Opal had hefted the blade from her shoulder and now stood towering it above her head. The wind picked up around her and blew those long raven locks of hair from her face and off her shoulders as to be scattered into the air. The wisps of hair trailed behind her as she took off in flight towards the Larger than life Wasp, only to trip over a rock in her swiftness and do no damage but her pride. As she fumbled around in the ground, the Wasp Queen looked to her for a brief moment then back to Koumori, for he was the one who had the Hate of the wasp on him. Opal sneered, she hadn't had this much bad luck since that time with Xion...the name made her shudder thinking of the Second in Command and readied her weapon once more, "Hey, its almost dead ya know? But despite it almost being dead! It can evade all my attacks all day long!" she shouted towards her partner, but the woman had been fed up about missing so much. Three was the total now in a row, something had to give. Her temper or the cardinal system.

(Haha maybe it is cursed. Guess I shouldnt've have performed that cult ritual to get it back huh? Btw the wasp had 9 health not 13)

Opal tried yet again and failed yet again at injuring the wasp. At this point I actually felt bad for her, and not just because I watched as she tripped on a rock. Talk about insult to injury, three misses and a face plant. I secretly prayed that her bad luck would end. In the meantime, my luck was great and I meant to continue that. I leaped in place and performed a summersault in the air. I gracefully landed on the wasps giant head and drove my sword straight into its left eye. It let out a devastating scream as it lost half of its vision. Not wanting to get swatted again I hastily jumped of and combat rolled out to safety. I looked up at the distraught Opal and grinned. "If I have to do this by myself we might be here a while." I could never resist sarcasm, one of my character weaknesses.

Opal's look towards Koumori was anything but cute. Those vibrant honey colored eyes that were so warm and inviting had turned into dead and cold lifeless gaze, she would murder him next time. Until then, she had to find her foot and quick if she was going to be any real use in this battle. Her eyes went back to the Wasp, it buzzed and slided left and right as it hovered over the ground, only a handful of HP between it and death. She prayed and talked to her sword, "Come on...Lindow...give me that strength to get through this..." In mid attempt to finish her prayer, she locked onto the buzzing creature and made a head long dash once more for it, her blade up the silver and red sparkle of the Keen blade came down and slashed diagonally, she squeed at the thought of landing a critical blow. When the dust had settled she missed by a good foot and a half and the buzzing Wasp was already starting towards her partner once again, completely ignoring her and her ability to fight. Opal's threat was non existent. It as the breaking point...she was fed up, angry, tired and ...and she was going to cry...It was so depressing to miss so many times.

Opal did not see very happy with what I said. I could feel the murderous intent in her eyes. "Hehe, sorry." Almost consumed with rage, she went in once more for the attack. Like all previous attempts, she failed this one by a pretty wide margin. She retreated back and began boiling over. Instead of staying and watching I thought I'd deliver the finishing blow. I ran forward and leaped into the air, my sword held above my head. As I was about to swing the blade down with crushing momentum the giant wasp...side stepped me? The creature quickly darted to the right and left nothing in front of my besides air. I was too late in my trajectory to correct myself so I had to submit to my fate. My face slammed into the ground with a thunderous thud. My sword clattered to the ground as I lay there with my butt in the air. I began to speak, my voice muffled by the ground. "Okay, maybe I deserved that."

The Ifrit finally pulsed to life as it took on an ominous and familiar glow. The woman, hefting the heavy blade upon her shoulder took a running start at the Wasp Queen, stopped short of its head and swung the blade around as her heel spun the woman around and with both hands firmly on the silver hilt of the blade, she was spinning around and around like twister, cutting the Wasp Queen in a continuous effort. Stopping short of one final slash, she lifted the blade and it came down crashing into the bug and squished it the flooring of the forest. Opal took a step back as her destructive skill expired. The Wasp Queen now barely hanging on by an inch of its life, "Alright, Mori! Time to finish this thing off..."

Finally. I watched in some sort of joy as Opal spun like a top and took chunks out of the creature before slamming it onto the forest floor. Opal took a step back and signaled for me to go. "You got it!" I leaped into the air and did a number of flips (because why not) until I was over the creature. With my arms above my head I fell downwards on top of it and swing my blade forward with  all my strength "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" My blade went straight through at the head and continued until it lodged into the ground. The creature burst apart around me as I remained crouched. When the animation was over I stood up and pulled my sword out of the dirt and placed it back on my back. "And that's that." I walked back over to Opal with a grin. "Awesome combo!"

"Yay! Deader than a dead thingy! Well...I guess that wraps up the quest...Still have no idea where Abalasster went off to?" the woman looked around her as the massive blade sheathed behind her, long flowing blackened locks of hair spiraled off her shoulder as she gave them a quick flick with her wrist. Seeing that he was nowhere to be seen, she figured he might have had a tummy ache or something and had to go back into town? 

"I don't know. But I ain't sticking around to fight another Wasp Queen. How's about we head back to some place safe and get rested up for the next adventure? You did an awesome job out there today, you had my back when things were looking grim with me cutting the grass all day long. Thanks for that, Sug!" Opal hopped over towards Koumori and glomped him laughing as she had done so, making sure he would be super embarrassed by the fact. With that she would walk with him back to the safety net of the city and collect their rewards from the quest.
