Another day, another quest, is what he was telling himself despite the inherent lies that filled that statement. He was far too lazy a player to have been doing one quest every single day. It would be more unusual if he did a quest two days in a row! Self-told lies aside however, he was here to tackle a quest though, if not a difficult one. It was a fairly simple quest that didn't even have a hand-in NPC, making it a bit of a secret as you had to simply discover it. Oooooor read about it in a handy information broker book like most people did. "These things are getting way too useful..." He thought to himself. Hopefully upon reaching a higher floor they would start to become more and more useless so there would be a sense of mystery and wonder. Also death, death was a pretty pivotal part of this whole situation he had to admit.

Figuring he had focused on doom and gloom enough Kalesh found himself standing in the middle of the forest, his eyes scanning around curiously for any sign of the large plant creatures that were to serve as his prey. He was to understand he needed to hunt down at least three of these creatures for their medicinal parts. None of which he could say 'screw the quest' and take to an alchemist he found hilariously enough. As this was a combat quest, however weak, he had his weapon, armor, and accuracy boosting eyepiece equipped so to avoid getting embarrassed or ambushed by some douchey PK who wanted a piece of him to keep. Properly equipped he started to look around the area curiously in search for his prey on this fine sunny day.

He had been wandering the forests for a while, starting to get a grasp for why it was described as a fairly rare monster. He was actually having trouble spotting any sentient flowers, but he did see a large red flower he thought. He stepped towards it with a smile, looking the plant over before noticing how nice it looked under the ground, reaching down to take a petal with a smile. A moment after taking it though, suddenly the flower shot up out of the ground! Kalesh stumbled back with wide eyes as the plant slashed across his chest with its long-leaf pointed arms! The damage wasn't even a threat, he was more at risk of a heart attack!

Kalesh took a biiiig breath and stood himself back up onto his feet, the Nepent still cutting at him as he tried to catch his breath, looking at the ugly plant creature angrily while tapping his foot. "Okay, that was a dick move. I came here to hunt, not get jump-scared." He sighed incredulously and shrugs his shoulders "This isn't even the right genre, come on, man." He reaches behind his back and starts to draw his scimitar while getting pelted with hit after hit to little effect thanks to his level and armor.

Done taking the plants abuse Kalesh triggers his concentration skill, staring wide eyed with a slight glow to his eyes as the world seemed to slow down. Kalesh reached out with his spare hand and grabbed the Nepent's lashing vines in his hand like it wasn't a big deal, and then raised his sword high. "Okay, well, sorry, time for you to die." Kalesh slashed his scimitar down and cleaving the nepent in half, gaining a material alongside the medicine he had been looking for. "Man, that spooked me... I'll be ready next time though." He chuckled to himself while glancing around for the next flower like that one.

With the revelation that the nepents were ugly plants monsters indeed, he felt no real qualms about wiping them out. The ones he was looking for with flowers were elusive it seemed, as he was having trouble tracking down a second after his certainly accidental discovery of the first. He scoured the area around the first Nepent before concluding there wasn't any in close proximity. He figured it wouldn't happen but he had to strain his luck a bit before he moved onto another area of the forest in search of the monsters.

He had moved at least a mile away from his first Nepent, sword still drawn and at the ready while he glanced around for his next prey. A moment later he realized how odd it sounded to refer to a plant as prey, even if it could move around and stuff. While lost in thought he almost tripped over a large flower, gasping as he swung his blade and separated the stem from the root, watching as the flower shattered... a moment before realizing it was just a normal flower. He sighed at his idiocy but noticed a material filling his inventory so it wasn't all bad. At least he was getting stocked a bit from his failure.

Kalesh stopped mid-step when he noticed a flash of red in the corner of his vision. One that was certainly not his hair. He turned his head and saw a Nepent trying to ambush him... but Kalesh didn't have the unknown to be afraid of this time. He merely turned and let the Nepent hit him with its vines, Kalesh stabbing his blade forward deeply into the plant monster, twisting the blade and forcing the creature to shatter apart, leaving him a few things behind as he streeeeetched out. "Ahh~ Nice and easy." He smiles happily as he says "Let's try that again..."

Kalesh was starting to wonder what the big fuss was about this quest. Supposedly there had been players who died trying to complete it, but all he got so far was inconvenienced slightly. Then again he had armor and a good weapon to back his weakness up. Take any of that away and he goes back to being a weakling. He sighed softly at the understanding that his armor and weapons were each stronger than he was alone. The sword alone more than doubled his damage thanks to the enhancements. "Well... then I guess that just means I gotta get stronger." He smiles as he shrugs his shoulders as he does some practice cuts while he walks.

While slashing around wildly he notices what looked like another hidden Nepent, but this one had a fruit! To his head, that mean it was rarer or older or something. Either way, a grin crossed his lips as he charged at the plant monster, its whiplike vines hitting his body but he didn't care. Instead, he swung his blade hard vertically down through the emerging monster, cleaving it in two. A moment later he gasped as the juice in the fruit splattered him, making him try to shake it off and say "Oh, COME on! Does this stuff clean out?" He groans "The -one- creature that actually blee-" It just hit him. Nothing else bled. No liquid, nothing. This had a purpose... it wasn't hurting him, so that wasn't it. He sniffed it curiously and bleghed, the scent was strong and rotten smelling!... He heard what sounded like many Nepents approaching, making him gulp as he realized what it was for. "Swarm mechanics... greaaaat." He groaned "I'm going to need to clean my clothes after this... And maybe a nap..." He clenched his scimitar while waiting for the loud noises that only got louder as they approached to show themselves.

He took a deep breath as he waited for the incoming swarm, looking down at his hands to realize that his left hand was as empty as it always was. He shrugged his shoulders and decided to hold his sword with two hands for once, raising the blade high over his head in preparation. He watched the brush where the noise was loudest and watched with wide eyes as four Nepents with sprouts on their heads, not even flowers, charged at him with their vines trained towards him. "Too slow~" he teases before charging forward in the blink of an eye, zooming past the Nepents and grinning as he already had his blade lowered down as if he had slashed. "NEXT!!" He yelled at the rest of the incoming waves. The four Nepents that he had charged past were all sliced down the middle thanks to the AOE properties of the charge that decimated the weak monsters.

It was at this moment Kalesh realized he was getting cocky. In an instant four more Nepents had emerged from the brush and he instinctively started charging Farrant Full Moon, only to realize how tired that art would make him! He'd have no energy left for the rest of them if he acted too hastily! He forced him out before the art could trigger, leaving himself wide open to the attacks of the four nepents. He had to finish them off fast before they got reinforcements! The last thing he needed was cumulative damage of all things killing him!

Kalesh was far more focused this time, dodging whip after whip from the incoming Nepents, weaving back and forth while reading his Fell Crescent again, it was strong enough and less tiring for his purposes as he realized. The four Nepents shattered apart as he noticed two more come out of the bushes and strike at him, the next two not far behind them! He manages to dodge them as well, thankful he hadn't screwed up again or he'd have a swarm on his hands before long! He just had to keep cutting them until they stopped coming. Easy in theory.

He waited for the entire wave of four to gather up before he would attack, dodging attack as necessary. If he killed them two at a time he'd be exhausted long before he had a chance of reaching the final wave. He just had to keep cutting them down four at a time and hope his energy held out that long. "Kayaba, you sadistic Sunnava!" He announced as he charged and cleaved the four Nepents in an instant with his sword art once again, feeling his energy almost reach the halfway point. Considering how quiet the forest was getting he figured it to be a fair price. "Okay, Kalesh... Keep it up, don't let a little sleepiness get the better of you..."

The next group wasn't as easy to deal with, coming at him from more than one direction at a time! His sword art was a charge, not an all around spin like the full moon! He focused on his dodges, keeping himself from taking damage, but he wasn't putting any out either! He had to figure out a way to give himself an edge fast again these Nepents. Concentration? No, not enough. Just tough it out for a little longer, they'll get an opening soon. 'Just hope the guys behind them aren't as eager to beat me as them!' he thought to himself between dodges.

Kalesh grit his teeth in frustration as he got cornered by the converging Nepents, all four of them lashing him with their vines! "There!" He saw his chance and took it, charging the four plants and dicing them up so to speak, their remains shattering behind him but he had little time to rest before the next wave was on the way, the two in front managing to get a good whip on him in addition to the four that came before them! He wasn't dangerously low on hitpoints but he could figure out that if he had poor enough luck he could get overpowered, but he doubted that would happen. Still, less likely things had happened in this crazy virtual world!

Kalesh groaned as he felt his legs lock up, using his sword arts over and over like that and dodging so many attacks was starting to take its tole. He could tell at this point that his energy was mostly spent. He had maybe a third of his energy left he estimated from how tired he felt. The Nepents were like sharks smelling blood it seemed, as it seemed that on cue they took that change to give him lashings with their vines. It didn't hurt, but it was adding insult if not much injury. He refused to think he was going to die here on this floor. He straight up refused to believe it was a possibility that he could get killed by a swarm of plants, no matter how many.

In proper berserk-fashion he charged at the four Nepents as they lashed him, using their attack frames to ensure they were unable to dodge! Within a moment the four Nepents were sliced by his Fell Crescent but a moment later he felt the lashing of the next wave. He watched as two more Nepents stepped out past the two in front and then he heard it... Silence. The woods were finally calm again so he could take a breath and relax in the knowledge that he didn't need to be afraid of another ambush. This was the last set, and none of them had fruit thank goodness. He learned his lesson last time...

Kalesh watched as the final group of the swarm approached. His trump card had managed to recharge long ago, but not he had something to use it on. A final blow to ensure he wasn't entirely running on empty. His eyes went wide and his eyes glowed slightly. He walked straight out of the path of the Nepent's lashings, raising his blade over his head and charging dead ahead as he, hopefully for the last time that day, use his Fell Crescent sword art to cleave the four Nepents. He heard them shatter behind him so he groaned happily as he goes down on his knees, propping himself up a little with his sword as he pants and chuckles as he catches his breath. "Take that, Kayaba." He smiled, sure it was not that impressive, his level considered, but he thought he should reward himself so he starts to go through his menus.

Kalesh sat himself down on the ground, his sword impaled in the dirt next to him, and he retrieved a potion from his inventory. He had been saving the potion for sometime, having remembered it was supposed to be strawberry tart flavored he lifted it to his lips and poured the first mouthful of the contents into his mouth... Only to immediately spit it out after the first gulp! About a third of the contents were left in the bottle as he hacked and coughed, spitting several times to get the taste out of his mouth. "UGH!... can potions ROT?!" He shook his head in disgust, recorking the mostly empty bottle and returning it to his inventory. "Going to have a word with her later..." He said to himself. The potion itself seemed to work, noting a jump in his hitpoints, but he was -not- pleased. It kinda-sorta spoiled his victory a touch.
