HaseoTOD 0 Posted September 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2015 I know its not a sword, lance, spear, dagger, axe, mace, staves, etc. But I was wondering that if in the future that there's going to be like an Extra Skill or something of Scythes? I know that scythes wasn't in the series, but I can't help it when I am curious about something. Its not magical or anything like that, its just the fact that its a scythe. Though it could be categorized as a polearm I suppose, but still just wondering :
Takao 0 Posted September 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Traditional gardening scythes don't really fit into any of the weapon categories because they weren't used as weapons, but war scythes could fit into either Two Handed Battle Axes or either of the spear categories given that they're basically just polearms. You could probably pass a Naginata off in the Katana weapon skill too if you wanted, and its similar enough to a war scythe. The cutting edge is just on the other side.Otherwise I don't think there'd be much point to make an entirely new list of sword arts for them. The list we currently have suits a wide variety of builds and are well balanced, more or less.
HaseoTOD 0 Posted September 28, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Okay :3 I kind of figured it would be categorized as a polearm or something of that nature. As a naginata while I don't have the Katana skill (yet) I can try to aim for that since I've started out with the one handed curved sword skill and currently the only skill I possess. but any rate I was just curious about that. Zero 0 Posted September 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2015 (edited) In SAO only one individual possesses a scythe, Fatal Scythe. Aside from that instance it is made pretty clear that no category exists allowing players the usage of scythes. So I'll have to say no to this. Regarding Naginata, that is classified as a polearm weapon so you could use that if you wanted. Edited September 28, 2015 by Zero
Rag 0 Posted November 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2015 The episode with the moonlit cats shows them getting an item called the Killer Mantis Scythe. At least I am pretty sure
Zero 0 Posted November 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2015 You mean this thing? It's not a weapon, it's a potion. Check the item type icon beside the name. Though it's weird for them to name a potion like that, don't ask me why it was named like it was a wepon 'cause I have no idea.
Rag 0 Posted November 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2015 Okay didn't know that. Though it's so weird
Zero 0 Posted November 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Tell me about it. I'm not even sure how that qualifies as a potion name. Might be some poisoon found on the Matis' claw thingy.
Eulalia 0 Posted November 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2015 The symbol may refer to alchemy ingredients, I believe.
