Mayuri sat there dumbfounded as she watched the woman get up and leave as if she had casually returned something she had borrowed and walked away. The raven-haired girl was floored. If the woman had truly wanted to help others, she’d have stayed on the front, not run and hide like she was going to. As these things crept up into her mind Mai shook her head. It wasn’t Persephone’s responsibility more than it was anyone else’s to save everyone, so she couldn’t blame the woman for being afraid. Instead Mayuri strengthened her own resolve, not just for herself but for Persephone herself. She would not let the woman’s sacrifice be wasted.

Mai got up from her seat and began to wander off, looking for a quest to try out her new crystal and weapon. She wanted to see how effective both would be.
