(SP-F5) Is This Supposed to be so Difficult? COMPLETED

Recommended Posts

Judging by the fact that she had trouble killing the easiest monsters she could still gain loot from, Manta assumed that she had invested her skills incorrectly. As far as she knew though there was no way to reset skills, so she'd have to keep gaining skill points and start investing them more wisely. And that meant fighting monsters, even if they were quite difficult. Luckily she knew of a place on the fifth floor where some goblins could be found that were relatively easy to defeat. Manta walked into the forest slowly, her blade at the ready. She glanced around, her eyes alighting upon a small goblin that was lugging a giant wooden club around. Her first target.

Manta ran forwards, her feet pound on the ground as she approached the goblin. She stabbed forwards with her weapon but missed by a fraction of a centimeter. The small goblin swung the club at her but she easily dodged it. She rolled underneath the club and got behind the goblin preparing to strike again. She hesitated though, and ended up giving the goblin a chance to turn around and face her. She pointed the tip of her curved sword at the goblin and prepared to attack again. This time she would be successful.

She scowled at the goblin and then charged forwards, her sword flashing in the little bit of sunlight allowed in by the trees canopies. He sword cut into the goblins arm and she jumped back, easily dodging the goblins attack. She flicked her blade to the side. These monsters had a lot of damage mitigation, and a lot of health, but they were generally pretty bad with accuracy, meaning that they could be whittled down with relative ease. She just wished that they didn't take so long to kill.

Manta adjusted her footing before moving in again. Fights like this were usually monotonous and took a while. Still, you always had to pay attention to what was happening and make sure that you aren't being surrounded by mobs.  The goblins hands gripped the club and swung as she charged forwards. She was moving to fast to stop, and the blow landed on her side, sending her tumbling off to the side. She kept her grip on her sword though and got back up once she stopped rolling.

She stood back up, ignoring the glowing red mark on her side. She ran forwards again, a bit slower this time so that she would have time to stop if she needed to. The goblin swung it's club again, and Manta did a flip over it. She didn't get a chance to attack though because she was busy dodging. She landed and did a little roll before twisting to face the little green monster again. The creator of the game must have had a pretty weird sense of humor to have given such a small monster such a large weapon.

Manta moved forwards again, this time trying something new. She jumped to the side and propelled herself off of a tree towards the goblin, coming from a different angle this time. She twisted in mid-air to dodge the club and buried her blade up to the hilt in the goblins chest. She pushed off, pulling her sword out in one smooth movement, landing a couple of feet away, completely uninjured. She could use the environment to her advantage, to bypass her opponents defenses.

Manta moved forwards again, eyebrows scrunched in concentration. She leaped forwards, diving and rolling under the club, slashing as she passed by the goblin. This battle had been going on for too long, and she wasn't gaining anything from it. Maybe it was time to give up and find an easier monster. She needed materials, and she wasn't getting them the way she was trying to as of now. She glanced at her health and then the monsters. She was certain that she could beat the monster, she just thought that it was going too take too long.

Manta turned around and took off further into the woods. The goblin ran after her, getting close enough to swing at her.She ducked under it and abruptly changed directions, making a hard left. The goblin was still after her, but she was confident that she would lose it pretty quickly. Once she lost the monster she would turn around and find a couple of easier monsters to farm for materials.

Manta charged towards a large tree, the goblin at her heels. At the last second she dived to the side and rolled, coming back onto her feet and continuing to run. She heard a slamming noise behind her, as the goblin slammed into the tree. She kept running, putting as much distance between them as she could. She eventually came to a stop in a clearing a ways away from where the goblin had been. It looked like she had lost it. Hopefully she would start finding easier monsters now.

Manta found another goblin a little ways away from the clearing and confronted it. She charged forwards and swung her sword at the creature, making contact with it's chest. Her sword continued up through its face and the creature burst into blue crystals. This one had certainly been a much easier kill, but she hadn't received any loot from it. She moved on a bit further into the forest, brandishing her sword. She was much more confident now that she knew she could handle at last one type of monster that was here in the forest.

Manta only had to take another few steps into the forest to come across another one of the creatures. Once again she raised her sword and attacked it, her sword shearing through it's waist. It burst into crystals and disappeared, leaving her with no loot. Was this really a better way to gather materials? Maybe she would have been better off fighting the really hard monster she had encountered earlier. Those ones always dropped loot, unlike these small fries. There was another goblin a couple of yards to her right, so she decided to try once or twice more. If she didn't get anything she'd give up.

Manta made her way over to the monster. She ducked under a sword strike and got a bit closer before stabbing the goblin through the throat. She pulled her sword out as the goblin burst into crystal just like the last two. She was both surprised and shocked when the loot notification popped up in front of her. It appeared that you could get materials from these low level monsters. She tapped the accept button and made walked off further into the woods, determined to get as many materials as she could within the next half hour.

She swung her sword downwards at a goblins head, but it dodged to the side. She didn't give it a chance to take advantage of her missed strike and brought her sword back around to guard with. They circled each other slowly. Manta flourished her sword in the air, the pure silver blade glimmering in the dim sunset. This one was slightly faster than the ones she had fought most recently and would probably take a bit more strategy to kill. A slashing movement would be the hardest for it to dodge, but if it did dodge then she would be open for a little bit, possibly giving it a chance to hit her. Still, it was a pretty small monster, so it probably wouldn't do much damage if it did.

Manta waited for the goblin to attack before attempting to retaliate with a slash. She dodged underneath the goblins clawed hand and slashed outwards with her curved sword. Her toe caught on a root though and she ended up pitching forwards towards the ground. She caught herself by doing a little roll and coming back up onto her feet. It might take a bit more to get this guy penned in. hey continued their little dance, each of them circling and watching for any openings.

This guy was tricky. She didn't know if it was somehow her fault that she couldn't hit him, but she just couldn't seem to even land a blow. She moved her sword in position and activated a sword skill. She usually just went without, but sometimes the systems accuracy was better through the use of sword skills. Her sword glowed a bright red for a moment before she stabbed forwards at the creature. She missed by what seemed to be a mile. Luckily her stabbing movement had gotten her out of the way of the creatures counterattack. That was the last time she used a sword skill, at least until she unlocked some combo skills.

Manta dived forwards and did a flip to get closer to the goblin. She feinted a stab at the goblins arm,and when it moved to dodge she adjusted her stab into a slash, catching the goblin in the back and causing it to burst into blue shards. She didn't get any loot, so she continued on. She wasn't entirely sure if this was the best way to get materials, in fact, she doubted that this was an efficient way at all. Still, she needed materials and this was the easiest way that she knew.

Manta walked around the forest, her feet crunching on the fallen leaves. She hadn't been following a specific path, so she hoped that she wouldn't have too much trouble finding the exit. The monsters in the area weren't hard at all, and she was hoping that she didn't come across some sort of boss all by herself. Before she had met that goblin monster earlier she had been confident in her abilities. Now she realized just how weak she actually was, and how much she needed to improve. She walked right up to one of the goblins and slashed her blade through it. No loot. She continued on, heading in the direction she believed the exit was. She would defeat the monsters she came across as she left, but she wasn't going to go hunting for any more. She needed to do some quests and get stronger.

Manta swung her sword at the goblins head. The goblin ducked underneath her blade and stabbed at her with a dagger. She move to the side, easily dodging it, and prepared to swing again. The goblin backed off though and she didn't have a chance to counter attack. She ran a hand through her hair exasperated, and got back into her fighting stance. She was getting fed up with this whole hunting trip. She had been out there for almost an hour, and she had only gained a single material. It was getting on her nerves and the expression on her face showed that fact quite plainly.

Manta wasn't all that happy with the materials she had gained in her little hunt. And it was definitely a little hunt with her total materials adding up the the extremely large sum of one. It had been what amounted to a terrible gathering mission and almost a complete waste of time. In frustration she swung her sword at a nearby bush, cutting it off at the root. To her surprise the loot screen popped up, granting her a material for it. She still didn't have as many materials as she'd originally wanted, but two was better than none.

Manta swung her sword at another bush, cutting it away from the ground. There was no loot screen that popped up this time. She was really getting annoyed. All she wanted at that moment were three materials so she would have enough to do some crafting the next day. It seemed that the game really hated her that day though. She swung her sword at another bush, cutting it to pieces. Just as she'd expected there was no loot screen that popped up. Today was really not her day.
