>>History: Kaito had always lived a life of pain and remorse. He used to be full of life and as childish as could be. The only problems that he had were that his father was never home, which honestly didn't really bother him very much. He was happy always staying home with his mother and playing games with her. Things had practically been perfect in his eyes, up until the day of his ninth birthday. That is when everything changed… Kaito had been in the kitchen with his mother, the two of them slicing a piece of cake together. He had already opened all of his gifts and blew out the candles, so this had been all that was left. Things were going quite swimmingly, until a strange man had walked into the house. This man had whiskey on his breath that you could smell from across the room and a pistol in his hand. He had been waving the gun around and stumbling around, trying to make his way closer to Kaito. Kaito's mother had been terrified by this man and the fact that he had a gun, but Kaito was brave enough to try and stop the man. He had run towards the man and attempted to push him over. Since the man had been ridiculously drunk, he had toppled over pretty easily. When the man had been falling over though, his hand had hit the edge of the doorframe. This had caused the gun to go off and shoot Kaito's mother right in the chest, directly next to the heart. Both the stranger and Kaito had been freaking out as this had happened. Kaito had hated himself for what he had just done and began to cry in front of the stranger, hoping that all of this had just been some kind of nightmare. It wasn't. From here on, things had only got worse. This was because Kaito's father had seen the entire thing.

After seeing all that had just unfolded, Kaito's father had gone into an outrage. He had pummeled the stranger into a pulp and called the cops to come and get him before he ends up killing him for what he had just done. The cops had arrived shortly after, taking pictures of the crime scene and hauling the strange man that had just murdered Kaito's mother downtown to the police department. 

Weeks had now gone by, and Kaito's father had began to suffer from depression. He had believed that his wife's death had been caused by Kaito and had hated him for it more than anything in the world. This had led to him beginning to abuse Kaito, always hitting him and telling him how its his fault that his mother had died. Hearing these things and always being hit by his father had left a mark on Kaito. He had began to develop onset depression and wished that it had been him that had died instead of his father. He had continued to feel these things as the years and went on. By the time it had been Kaito's senior year in high school, he had found ways to keep himself less depressed. He had always kept his distance away from all of the other kids and was always playing vmmorpg's. He had believed that these games had been the best for him since they would allow him to live a new life. A different life than the one that he had led now. With all the hype over this new Sword Art Online game, Kaito had been pretty excited. He had heard about how amazing it was going to be and had even preordered a copy so that he would be sure to get it when it had come out. 

As he finally receives the game and makes his way home, he puts on the nerve gear, runs all of the tests that it asks him to perform, and then activates the game. The screen goes black at first, but then fades into a bright white screen with various colored balls spinning around, allowing him to make his character. Once he does so, he simply smiles and prepares to enter this new virtual world.

>>Personality: Kaito is an extremely meek person. He tends to keep to himself, so that he doesn't hurt others, yet will stick up for the few friends that he makes along the way. Due to the abuse that he had to experience as a child and throughout the years, he has a very low confidence within himself. He believes that ever little thing he does will upset someone in some kind of way. He doesn't like when people are upset with him, considering the fact that he used to get abused when his father had been upset with him. 

On the outside, he may seem tough and scary, but on the inside, he is honestly a really caring guy. He cares about the welfare of others, and always puts others before himself. There are so many things that factor into why he is so nice, but the overall reason is because its how his mother used to be, and this is some kind of connection that makes him feel as though she is still there with him. 

>>SAO Persona: When Kaito is in the game, he is almost an entirely different person. He appears to be a kind man on the outside as well as on the inside, which is indeed true in real life as well. The only difference is that he isn't scary in the game, but he is in real life. Also, when Kaito is in the game, his confidence boosts almost instantaneously. Since he knows that he is within a game that has less restrictions that the real world does, he feels as though he can be whoever he wants to be and do whatever he wants to do. He is brave and kind and always helping out those in need. The only thing that really causes him to stick out is the fact that he prefers to be in the shadows, hiding from the populace and helping without them ever knowing that he had been there at all. 

 

Virtues:

Assertive - When he has his mind set on something, he will give it his all to accomplish the goal to the best of his ability, while giving it his utmost effort. This is more true for when he is in the game than for when he is in real life.

Compassion - He tends to care much for others and for their well-being, thanks to his mother. She had been the exact same way and it eventually ended up just rubbing off onto him, causing him to become inspired by her, wishing to become a more compassionate person.

Modesty - When people attempt to compliment him due to either being impressed or inspired by his actions, he simply doesn't believe that he is as great as they make his actions out to be. This is because of how his father had always put negative thoughts into his head and made him think that everything bad that happens is his fault. 

Flaws:
Meek - Due to the abuse from his father, he is scared to speak out to other people since he feels as though he will say something that will either upset someone or get him into trouble.

Hoplophobia - Kaito has an extreme fear of guns, considering the fact that it had been a gun that had been the death of his mother. Even though he blames himself for the death of his mother, he still knows that it was the gun that had actually killed her.

Soft-Hearted - He is very caring when it comes to others who are in need. He will devote his time towards helping this who seem to need help, no matter the situation. This may cause him to seem weak in some people's eyes, but this isn't the least bit true.
