<<Blood in the Sand>>

This Repeatable quest takes place on Floor 5

 

Word from the Information Brokers speaks of a hidden respawning Field Boss on Floor 5. A small party reported having encountered a dangerous unknown enemy in the sand dunes of Floor 5. 'Swimming' through the sand, the shark like creature would attack by bursting out of the sand and biting with powerful jaws. This monster <<Sand Shark>>, proved to be a dangerous opponent for the relatively low leveled party, and dropped a powerful alchemical concoction.

 

This RP will not count in the benchmark

 

Requirement: 

<<Sand Shark>> must be defeated, Maximum Party Size of 3

At least two [2] Pages  (21 or more posts)

 

Rewards: 

1. [sand Armor Potion] This incredibly potent alchemical salve can be applied to a piece of armor, increasing damage mitigation/resistance by one point for one battle. (MIT +3)
2. [3 Skill Points]

 

 

<<Sand Shark>> is a respawning Field Boss and has the following statistics:

HP: 125

Damage per Attack: 30

 

• Parties or Groups of low level players are encouraged.
• You are free to control Sand Shark yourself, however he must be Rp'd responsibly.

 

Note:

While you may repeat this Quest as many times as you like, the 3 Skill Point reward will only be obtained on the first completion of the Quest. Repeat completions will only yield <<The Sand Armor>>

Manta prepared herself for a solo fight with a boss. She knew Koumori and Sousuke were somewhere on the floor, thanks to the friend status they had, but she didn't know exactly where. She didn't want to bother Koumori as he had already helped her so much, especially with the last boss, and she didn't want to Bother Sousuke as they had already been spending so much time together, and she felt like he needed his space. This would make a great story to tell, about how she took on the sand-shark and beat it all by herself, with a starter sword. She stood near the exit of the town, her HUD up as she checked over her equipment and prepared to go fight.

Sousuke saw a girl standing below him near the gates to the town exit. He was observing the players as they came and went through the gate. He brought up his menu and looked through his friends wondering who were on what floors, when he noticed Manta's blip said she was right below him. He was curious as to how that was possible when he couldn't see anyone nearby that matched her usual description. So instead he dropped down in his combat gear and began scanning the area trying to figure out what was going on. He kept his hood up so that most players couldn't recognize him and to keep an intimidating presense in case Manta was in trouble.

I really hated deserts. Seriously, what was the appeal? They're super hot and sand is literally the worst. Everytime I get sand in my shoes I want to kill someone. Well not literally but you know...Anyway, I was on the the fifth floor to complete a quest I had found. When I finished with the NPC I accepted my reward and started to head out of town. I had also heard about some hot spring or something and wanted to check it out. On my way to the gates I saw a single player standing there. It only took me a few seconds to figure out that it was Manta. What was she doing standing there all by herself? She looked like she was about to start some sort of mission, but what? Why wouldn't she ask for help? Actually, she probably felt to proud to ask. I had helped her a lot recently. Well I decided that it would be foolish of her to do whatever she was doing so I made my way over to her. I stopped some feet behind her and spoke. "What kind of trouble are you going to get yourself into?"

Manta turned around, hearing Koumori's voice. Her eyes went right over him for a second, fixating on a player in full combat gear who was surveying the people in the area. He looked like trouble, the sort of person you'd want to avoid if you didn't know them. She looked back to Koumori, pausing as she took a couple of seconds to comprehend what he had said. She hadn't really been paying attention. Oh, right. "The usual. Overpowered bosses and the like. What have you been doing?" She asked, keeping an eye on the man who was in the combat gear in her peripheral vision.

Sousuke continued to to observe the crowd saw a friend of his run up to the girl who looked familiar. She looked a lot like  Manta actually but she didn't wear the usual blue and white and her hair was much different. She also seemed much more ready for combat than what Manta wore inside a safe zone even before a boss. He equipped his sword to his back the hilt was only recognizeable to his closest friends so if anyone nearby knew him they would know it was him. He watch Kou engage in conversation and leaned against a wall arms folded watching the exchange.

Manta turned to look at me but instead looked past me at something with a concerned look on her face. I turned to see what it was and only saw Sousuke standing there. He was wearing new gear though. It was pretty intimidating I'd give him that but it probably wasn't what had concerned her. Either way, he'd probably come up to us soon so id have to turn on girl mode. I hadn't done it in a while but I didn't think I lost my touch. Of course I would never say that out loud. Ever. The only reason I did it was to save myself at that point. Well, I guess it was still funny for me. I turned around to face Manta again but with the girlish bubbly look on my face. I put my hand on my hip and stuck my other index finger in the air and pouted as I spoke. "You were almost killed last time. Why didn't you ask me to help?" At least I could still wear my pants. Please God Sousuke better not waltz on over and be like "hey where's your skirt" or something dumb like that. Not in public, I didn't think I could handle it.

Manta immediately recognized the way Koumori was acting. Either he had gotten much more into the who acting like a girl thing and did it in everyday life now, or Sousuke was around. She looked around again but couldn't see him. That player she'd been keeping an eye on had just equipped a sword. It was extraordinarily beautif-

Wait a second, that was Sousuke's sword! Where did that player get it? Had Sousuke been PKed? What would she do if he had! All of these thought and questions raced through her head as she unsheathed her sword and took off at full sprint towards the player. She would avenge Sousuke's death and then mourn for him. She leaped into the air and aimed a stab down at the player. "What'd you do with Sousuke!!!" She shouted, a determined expression on her face as she shot down towards him.

The girl he had seen talking to Kou a moment ago drew her sword and he instantly knew something wrong. He drew his own blade as his passives kicked in and He looked around trying to figure what alarmed her. He looked back just in time to see the girl lunging at him and reacted faster than he ever had before. Wether it was luck or her was getting more used the game he didn't know but he manages to parry the attack before it landed knocking her sword from her hand. He had heard his name at some point during that exchange to and was worried someone was after him. He held the blade tip pointing towards the girls throat before speaking in his raspy tone when he was serious.

"Whos after me and who are you working for?" He said pulling his mask down revealing his face to the girl glaring at her with a face that said mess with me.

When I started acting like that Manta immediately thought that something was up. She gave me a panicked look before she looked over my shoulder once again. I don't know what she was thinking as she unsheathed her sword and bolted past me. I spun around to watch her leap up into the air to attack Sousuke. Wait? What did she just scream? She really didn't notice that was him? For christ's sake. I took off running after her as Sousuke took her down and brought his sword down to her throat. A feigned being out of breath when I reached them and bent over to catch it. Then I looked at them and gave them my best angry girl. "Yeah yeah, "Where's Rachel" and all that. Seriously guys? Are you sure you're engaged? You should at least be able to recognize each other you know." I put my hands on my hips and stood there and waited for them to realize what was going on. "Honestly" I said to the air, sarcastically.

Manta opened her mouth as the player pulled his hood down, revealing himself to be Sousuke. The strange thing was, he didn't seem to recognize her. She hadn't changed her style that much, had she? She'd just switched from blue to red, and straightened her hair. Granted, blue had always been her thing, and that could explain it. Red was almost as far from blue as you could get, technically. "Hey, I have an excuse! He was wearing a mask. No one would recognize him like that, with that batman voice and the mask." She protested, still having the point of Sousuke's blade pointed at her throat. Without the sword it might look like something completely different was going on.

Sousuke looked at the girl before sheathing his sword and mentally slapping himself how could he not recognize Manta. She had only switched her look a little but this was a game after all and when someone rushes at you with a rapier what exactly are you going to do let them stab you?

"Hold up hold up your Manta? Oh how dense could I be I have to admit you look nice and all but try not to skewer me next time will us? I'd rather not be turned into skewered rouge." He said chuckling to himself.

"That's no excuse. I recognized him from the beginning. Get your act together." I scoffed at Manta's attempt to defend herself. I knew that was Sousuke so there was no reason she shouldn't have. When I finished with Manta, Sousuke withdrew his sword and made some comment about her not attacking him next time. Did he think I was done. I turned to him and pointed right at his face. "And you, apologize to her. Do you even see what you've just done? That's no way to treat your fiancé!" I wasn't just acting, I was actually mad at him. Not only didn't he recognize her, he threw her to the ground and threatened her. That's not something s guy should do and I wasn't going to let that slide. I took a step back and sighed.

Manta looked up at Sousuke. He had sheathed his sword, but was still on top of her . She wondered what it looked like to the passerby. She turned tomato red and scrambled out from under him. She didn't want those sorts of rumors going around. "It's fine Kou. It was a mutual misunderstanding." She explained before turning back to Sousuke before standing back up and offering him her hand. "I was actually about to go fight a boss. I didn't want to bother you guys though, which is why I didn't message you."

Sousuke turned to Manta first apologizing for attacking her and hugging her gently and whispered in her ear.

"If I'm honest you look beautiful and you've gotten a lot faster I was lucky to be able to even draw my sword." He said as he pulled back and winked at her. He let go of her and have a fake cough before addressing them both.

"Looks like I'm fighting a boss then." He said chuckling.

I watched as Manta and Sousuke made their apologies. They hugged for a little too. They really didn't care about pda in front of me. When they were finished Manta told Sousuke what she had told me earlier about the boss. Sousuke had much the same reaction I had and was ready to fight the thing as well. Did she really think it would be that easy to shake us? "Well that settles it then. Sousuke and I are helping you." I walked up to Manta and pointed my finger at her face this time. "No butts about it." I said smiling. The fact that I was doing all this without shame didn't seem to be registering. What kind of monster was I?

Manta already knew that once they heard about it there was no way they would let her go alone. She wasn't about to lie though, so she had had to tell them the truth. She definitely wasn't unhappy to have the back up, and if they were happy to help she would have no problem with it. The whole point of her not asking was because she hadn't wanted to bother them. If they volunteered themselves, than it meant that they genuinely wanted to help her. "All right then." Manta turned away from Koumori and opened her HUD, finishing what she had been doing before. She already had the breastplate equipped, and her gauntlets equipped, there was only one last thing to equip. Manta tapped a few times, and a small, simple pendant appeared around her neck. The chain was small, dainty, and silver, and the pendant was silver as well, in the shape of an intricately detailed arrow. The tail of the arrow was studded with sapphires. She turned around and did a little twirl, her skirt spinning around as she did so before stopping and pointing to the necklace. "What do you think? I commissioned and named it myself."

Sousuke looked looked at pendant That Manta had equipped he particularly liked the name of the pendant and laughed.

"Hey Kou did you get hit in the process of that being made?" He asked sarcastically before he gave Manta a quick kiss and pulled his mask and hood back up.

"Ready to get going then?" He asked waiting for the others.

Manta seemed to accept that we'd be coming with her and started to equip all of her gear. She smiled before she put on the last piece. It was a small silver necklace. She spun around and modeled it before explaining what it was. The Koumori Hitter. Well I wonder what that's for. She really wasn't a fan of my evasion. I gave her a pouty frown before answering. "I'll take that as a compliment." Sousuke piped up and asked if I had been hit in the process of it being made. "That's why it was made, Sousuke." All joking aside, we all got our gear ready and Sousuke proclaimed we were ready to go. "Right!" I said with excitement. I started walking and came up beside her and pushed her shoulder with my hand.

Once everyone was ready, Manta walked forwards, leading everyone out of the safe zone into the desert. She had directions to the boss from an information broker, so she led the way. The boss was some sort of shark that swam in the sand. The idea itself was terrifying, almost more so than a ravenous shark in water, because at least you could see beneath you in water. They reached the spawn area of the boss, and entered. She held out an arm in warning, unsheathing her sword. "It could come from anywhere, be ready to dodge if the sand underneath you starts to move." She warned.

Just then, the sand underneath her started to shift slightly. It was only thanks to the enhancement boost from her breastplate, and her acrobatics that she was able to dodge. She moved to the side, lightning fast, and kicked out with her foot, using one of the sharks face as a platform to propel herself farther away. She landed, and the shark dove back underneath the sand. "Slash it while it's above the sand!" She called out to Koumori and Sousuke.
