[SP-F1] A walk through the Forest << Secret Medicine of the Forest >> [COMPLETE]

Recommended Posts

Today was looking to be another normal day for Vayrin. She was wandering through the Town Of Beginnings like every other day. She was debating if she should go out hunting for some extra loot and XP. She needed it. The Violet haired girl strode at her normal brisk pace, ignoring the crowd of players and NPC's around her. The girl's normal serious expression washed over her face. She stopped for a moment and opened her menu. With a quick swish of her hand, the white panel appeared in front of her. Her expression unchanging she flipped through it, looking at her stats. She smiled and closed it again. She gazed upwards and noticed she had been near the entrance to the large town. The green pastures lay beyond. That reminded her of something.

Her mind raced back to another day's events. The first floor was not just covered in rolling hills. Various forests dotted the massive floor's landscape, and one of these forests was the home of a quest. After she just rifled through her stats, she realized she could safely undergo this quest by herself. She thought back on the quest info that was given. It seemed relatively simple. All she needed to do was kill a few weak mobs to gain a medicine ingredient. She was a high enough level to safely take on this quest, and it still gave her a decent amount of XP. She thought about it for a moment and decided to go for it. She needed to start getting active if she ever hoped on becoming a high leveled player on the front lines someday. With that in mind, she began to walk out of the large town.

Vayrin wasn't very nervous about this quest to say the least. Even though it had been a while since her last battle. As she walked through the large fields towards the forest the mobs she needed to kill was supposed to be, she noticed others fighting the Boars that resided in the pastures. She thought back on the day she fought a Boar for the first time. She got nearly killed if it wasn't for two other players who were nice enough to help her out. Vayrin stopped walking when she saw a lone Boar sniffing the ground several feet around her. She was now a higher level than she was before, so she was confident she could easily take it down without other's help. She grinned as she pulled out her blade from it's sheath and began walking towards the beast.

Similar to the first time she attacked, Vayrin ran straight towards the creature and dragged her blade across its side with as much force as she could. Her sword ripped through its hide and she spun around. Unlike last time, she was ready for its charge. The Boar sniffed furiously and ran at her. Already expecting this Vayrin quickly rolled out of its way, smiling. Things were going better than last time.

As Vayrin rolled to her feet, she held out her blade. As it began to glow again, the Boar had turned around for another charge. Smiling Vayrin ran straight for it. The Boar returned her action with the same one. Vayrin quickly lashed out her weapon in front of her when the two got close enough. The Boar suddenly froze as Vayrin's blade had been locked in between its eyes. The Boar's health Gauge hit 0, then it popped from existence. Giving a satisfied sigh, Vayrin sheathed her weapon. Practice makes perfect.

That was actually quite fun Vayrin had thought as she sheathed her weapon. After handling that battle flawlessly, she had become a lot more confident in herself. She then continued to walk through the fields to her destination. She could see it from the distance. The grove of trees where one of the easiest quests took place. She began to walk slightly faster, as a slight wind picked up.

As she continued to walk, the trees became larger than they had appeared when she first took note of their position. Only a few moments later Vayrin stood at the outside of the forest. With that in mind, she quickly swished her hand and opened her menu. The Violet haired girl gazed at her stats for one last check before she engaged the monsters inside. As well as reviewing their info. Satisfied with the result, she gave a quick sigh. Vayrin began to walk into the forest.

The trees blocked out most of the sun. Hazy shadows fell over the forest floor as the sun's glare slowly faded into evening. Vayrin walked through the trees, looking for her targets. She had no doubt this was the right place, it said so on her map. she didn't think she'd have a hard time spotting them either. As far as she knew, they were the only mobs in this part of the floor. She had been thinking about their stats as she walked. According to the quest, they had the same stats as a Boar except they had more health. That was not a problem though, she could easily take down Boar's now, and these Nepents only had 1 more HP than a typical Boar does.

As Vayrin continued to walk through the shrouded forest, she heard the rustling of tree leaves near her. Assuming this was caused by he monster she was hunting, she slowly reached for her sword on her back, and unsheathed it. She began walking toward the sound of the rustling trees, confident she was ready. She came across a rather large tree, from what she could tell the source of the sound was coming from behind it. Gripping her sword tighter, she somersaulted around the trunk to meet her foe. Sure enough it was a monster know as a Little Nepent. The only thing was, the quest failed to mention that it was not little at all.

Vayrin stood shocked for a moment at the monster's size. It was around the same height as her which she didn't expect. She shook this thought as the Monster saw her. Getting her sword ready, Vayrin leapt backwards as the monster attempted to lash out at her with one of it's root-like legs. Missing the blow, Vayrin held her sword out making it glow. She then ran back at the monster, rolling to its side and slashed it's less defended back, landing a solid hit.

Grinning that she successfully landed a good blow to the creature's side, she attempted another slash, although this time the monster was waiting for her. The creature quickly shoved backwards, just barely missing her sword. In this moment Vayrin figured the monster was ready for it's move, and sure enough it was. The Nepent, spun in her direction and attempted to bite her with its big mouth. Seeing this Vayrin skipped backwards with speed, missing the monster's jaws. So this monster was smarter then a Boar it seemed. Vayrin's face turned serious, and she got her blade ready for another move.

As the steel of her sword began to glow once again, Vayrin's violet eyes were fixed on her target which was currently coming towards her. Gritting her teeth, Vayrin charged the beast, and before it had a chance to strike first, Vayrin brought her blade across its front. Her weapon ripped through the plant's skin across its torso. Vayrin stood in the same position as the creature exploded into blue shards. "Well, that was exciting." Vayrin whispered to herself trying to catch her breath. Her luck had been very good today as she had yet to lose a single unit of HP. Although she still needed to kill more of these things. Vayrin gave off a sigh of relief and turned around. She continued walking through the trees looking for more Nepents.

The battle didn't take much time Vayrin assessed. The sun still casted the tree's shadows on the forest floor, seemingly the same she had seen before. As Vayrin continued to walk, she didn't hear any more Nepents. This didn't discourage her though, she knew there were more since this was obviously the place where the Quest had been located. If it wasn't, there wouldn't have been a Nepent around that tree. Although, Vayrin had grown a little annoyed that the quest info failed to describe the Nepean's appearance. She just knew they were plant-like creatures. And it obviously tried to give her mixed messages with the "Little" part in the creature's name.

As Vayrin continued to walk, she began thinking of other ways to find these creatures. She didn't know how often they moved, so she decided to try something. Vayrin walked up the bass of a large tree, and plopped herself against it. She gazed out at the edge of the forest, the sun was now clearly visible as it had begun to set over the horizon. As it shone on her face, Vayrin felt a peaceful feeling. She slowly leaned her head against the trunk and gazed upwards at the trees leaves far above.

The longer she sat there, she waited for a Nepent to appear on it's own. This was a test to see if some quest creatures would move around the areas they were supposed to be in. As she waited she slowly closed her violet eyes, which had been reflecting the evening sun's glare. Even though it was all artificial, she sometime's forgot she was inside a video game, due to it's realism. A few minutes past as Vayrin rested her eyes when she heard the sound of more leaves rustling near her. She slowly opened her eyes and saw another Little Nepent several feet in front of her. It had not noticed her. Smiling Vayrin slowly got up, grabbed her hilt and walked toward the creature.

Like before, Vayrin held her blade out and waited for it to glow. Then with speed, Vayrin ran towards the creature. The Nepent heard her footsteps and turned its body towards hers. Vayrin slashed at it, dealing a solid hit along its side, although she didn't spin around fast enough. The Creature had not been slowed by her strike, it simply returned with one of its own. Suddenly Vayrin was sent tumbling over as the creature managed to hit her in the back. Annoyed with this, Vayrin quickly got up, facing the monster, ready for her next move.

Annoyed with her clumsiness, Vayrin readied her weapon again, as the creature ran towards her. It raised another leg in an attempt to attack her, but Vayrin retaliated before it had the chance. She threw her sword upwards, slicing off one of the root legs. The Creature cried out in pain as it backed up. Vayrin then spun around and stabbed the monster through the torso. It was over. The Nepent burst into the blue shards and floated towards the roof of the forest.

Alright! 2 down. Vayrin smiled as she sheathed her weapon. She was actually quite happy with how things were going. Despite losing a bit of health in that last battle, she was still confident she could handle the next. The fight was not over just yet. She stood there for a moment, gazing at the spot where the monster had exploded. Her eyes quickly found the attention of a few strands of her hair hanging over them. She quickly brushed them behind her ear, and kept walking.

The sun had begun to set on the distant horizon now. Vayrin's purple eye's reflected it's shine from the western half of the forest. The tree trunks made it cast various shadows along her path, which strangely made the place feel...Empty. Even though Vayrin was the only player here, for some reason these woods just felt like a void of life to her. Now that she started thinking about it, she had not seem to have seen any players around here at all. Vayrin thought it was weird to be sure, but she figured it was probably a quest everyone had already done by now. Her thought was short lived though, when suddenly she heard the rushing of legs behind her. Vayrin quickly grabbed the hilt of her sword and turned her head halfway behind her to see a Little Nepent rushing at her. Only this one was strange. It had a flower on it's head.

With sudden speed, the creature had tried to rush her from behind. Vayrin saw it coming a moment early though, and rolled out of its way behind the base of a nearby tree. As soon as she regained her balance, Vayrin huffed from the close hit, and pulled out her weapon. She waited a moment as the creature looked around for her. She held out her sword, and it's purple glow alerted the creature to her presence. It rushed at the tree and attempted to whip its leg around the truck to hit Vayrin. She rolled again, this time to the monster's side. She landed a slash on its side then leapt backwards and expected a retaliation.
