Seul 1 Posted November 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Floor nine must have been the strangest Seul had visited yet. The entire level seemed to have been on fire in a way that made it seem like some game developer's interpretation of Hell. Few players had actually been on the floor at the time and he could fully understand why. "It's so damn hot!" He moaned to the small dragon mounted on his shoulder who simply scoffed in return. "You humans are never satisfied..." Legna replied as if the intense heat hadn't even phased him in the slightest. Being a dragon and all, Seul figured that he was probably used to these types of conditions. This though was downright ridiculous. Even the trip into town was dangerous as falling into the lava below would've meant instant death for anyone."Who the hell builds a town over a volcano?!" The boy sighed as he took in the sights of Vulcan Village. It was by far the most industrialized place he had encountered but the lack of anything green wasn't exactly comforting. First thing on the agenda though was to gather information; no better place to do that than at a tavern. Edited November 13, 2015 by Seul
Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Inside the tavern was a madhouse. Players all crying out with anger at a certain ironclad NPC that stood at the far end of the building. The boy only raised an eyebrow at the scene before deciding that it'd be better to just remain neutral on whatever disturbance was at hand. He pulled up a chair at a nearby table but the crowd's nagging made it hard for him to even hear himself think while glancing over the menu. Despite his better judgement, he gave in to listening as the heavily armored warrior began to explain. "Won't anybody take care of the scum plaguing the areas around the village?!" The warrior began to scan the crowd, but for whatever reason, his eyes fixated on Seul from afar and he closed the gap between them with only a few exaggerated steps. "Whoa buddy, I just got here and I don't-" But before the boy could even finish his sentence the warrior was down on one knew and clasping his hands together in a beggar's position. "Please traveler, clear out the bandits! so that we all may have a fair chance at the land's bounties!"
Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted November 10, 2015 What was with NPCs and approaching him with quests?! He wondered if any of the other players experienced similar events. Either way it would seem his peaceful day of relaxation was over. "I guess I don't really have anything better to do... What are the details?" Rather than have it explained the quest window appeared before him and after skimming through for the important parts he and the dragon on his shoulders were on there way. "Remind me why you had us take on such a fool's errand...?" His familiar asked as they crossed the bridge out of town, obviously not too interested with the task at hand. "Well, like I said we weren't doing anything important plus my abilities should let me survive fighting any bandits we encounter. Also I don't see why you're complaining, it's not like you have to do anything but look pretty."
Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted November 10, 2015 The pair carried on like that down the path into the wilderness until they reached a cave at the foot of a volcano with a crudely made sign which read 'Trezpazers Wil B Kild' scrawled on it which was dangling before the entrance next to two skulls on pikes. "Seems like a bandit hideout to me." He mentioned casually before entering. Or at least trying to. As the boy took his first step toward investigating the place a voice called from behind. "Hey! Cancha read! This's da base o' de Bleedin' Skullz; de best band o' thieves 'ere in Aincrad. You sur are lucky imma feelin' generous enough to letcha go wit a warnin', kiddo." Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Seul sighed and only looked to Legna as he drew his dagger from the scabbard on his belt. "Better get to safety buddy,.Things are going to get ugly. Well, uglier if you consider this guy's face-." The bandit didn't waste any time after that remark. This man's weapon of choice was a spiked bat stained with what seemed to be fresh blood, of course. Though it looked menacing using such a weapon was impractical due to the strength and speed needed to be effective. Seul was able to easily block the incoming smash from the bat with his shield before retaliating with a forward stab from his dagger. The bandit however was agile despite having to lung around a heavy weapon and managed to twist his body out of the small blade's path before skittering away a couple of feet to reform his strategy. |~BATTLE START~|~Battle Theme~| Turn Sequence: Bandit Goon → Seul Party Status Seul [HP: 56/56][Energy: 12/14][Light Momentum Active: +1 BD] Monster Party Status: Bandit Goon [HP: 70/70][DMG: 20] Battle Commands: Bandit Goon attacks Seul! ↳ Blocked! Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) The bandit brought his arms into a horizontal swing with the spiked bat but Seul's shield found the way and blocked the strike once again with ease. The man's guard was left wide open, so the boy was able to take full advantage of it with a sword art. "Fad Edge!" He called while allowing his dagger to take on the blue glow he had become so accustomed to seeing during the move. Four swift slashes to the gut left the bandit stumbling backwards by the end of the attack and cursing his misfortune for tangling with a fighter with such strength. Though it had been his strongest move at work, Seul only managed to bring this bandit's health down by a small margin, leaving displeased at his own lack of power. |~BATTLE ENGAGED~| Turn Sequence: Bandit Goon → Seul Party Status Seul [HP: 56/56][Energy: 9/14][Keen Active: +1 BD] Monster Party Status: Bandit Goon [HP: 46/70][DMG: 20] Battle Commands: Bandit Goon attacks Seul! ↳ Blocked! Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Another desperate attack from the bandit ended with the boy's shield intercepting. This really was too easy. Seul made quick work with his next attack and just barely managed to land another Fad Edge on the man, leaving behind four huge red gashes on the bandit's body as he used his knife to carve it open. "Is this really the best you can do? You're going to need to try harder to beat me." He taunted idly while raising his shield once more and pointing his dagger toward his opponent. "Yur ded meat kid!" The bandit cried while holding his side with one hand. |~BATTLE ENGAGED~| Turn Sequence: Bandit Goon → Seul Party Status Seul [HP: 56/56][Energy: 6/14][Keen Active: +1 BD] Monster Party Status: Bandit Goon [HP: 26/70][DMG: 20] Battle Commands: Bandit Goon attacks Seul! ↳ Blocked! Seul 1 Posted November 10, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) (OOC: I swear I'm not cheating these rolls. xD) Mr. Bandit launched another swing but to the boy's surprise the bat actually landed for once, sticking Seul in the side with iron spikes which created big, red holes in his avatar's body. The soft green glow of regeneration surrounded his body shortly after, restoring the minor damage the bandit managed to inflict by closing the player's wounds. Seul used the closeness the attack created to launch his own counter with the Fad Edge. Four cuts total, two to the stomach and two across the man's neck which left the guy crippled until he died shortly after. "Three to go." |~BATTLE ENGAGED~| Turn Sequence: Bandit Goon → Seul Party Status Seul [HP: 56/56][Energy: 4/14][Keen Active: +1 BD][Recovery: +1 Energy][Regen: +6 HP] Monster Party Status: Bandit Goon [HP: 0/70][DMG: 20][DEAD] Battle Commands: Bandit Goon attacks Seul! ↳ Hit! 20 - 26 Mit = 1 Damage! Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted November 11, 2015 "Good job..." Legna praised as he descended from his spot in the sky and perched atop the boy's head. The bandit had been one of the toughest enemies he faced up till now but he had somehow managed to kill him. There were however still three more just like him lurking around somewhere. "My energy is spent... I've gotta wait for it to come back first." He said while taking a seat. Could he really do this? Daggers weren't designed to fight more than one at a time after all. If he wanted to win he'd need to focus on one while fighting off the other two or wait for his energy to restore.
Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted November 11, 2015 Seul never did understand why people resorted to things such as thievery. Some could argue that they do it out of necessity but in this case these bandits didn't seem to be taking only what they needed. Controlling and hoarding the prime hunting spots of a floor is far from being a Robin Hood type gesture and these thugs needed to learn their place the hard way. He sat on a nearby rock while keeping an eye on his slowly regenerating energy bar in the corner of his vision. If he waited long enough the other crooks were sure to arrive. Seeing as how the last one couldn't even scratch him he wasn't worried about facing the final three.
Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted November 11, 2015 He just didn't have to let himself get overwhelmed. The bandits didn't hit particularly hard, so if he kept his cool he'd be able to make it through the fight. Just as he had hoped the final three bandits strolled from the cave and stared at him with bloodlust in their eyes. There were two more goons but the final lone seemed different. Seul figured he was probably the leader considering the goons were following him. "What are you doing on our turf?" The leader asked while his peons brandished their weapons. Goon number one wielded a curved dagger which he figured wasn't as high a quality as his own and goon number two used a spear. The boy simply looked at them all with a dull expression before noticing that his energy had been fully restored. He shooed the small dragon from his head before standing once again and addressing the question. "Well, I'm here to kill you. So if you could make this easier, that'd be great." Energy Fully Restored!
Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) "Kill us? You've got a lot of nerve kid. Nobody beats the Bleedin' Skullz and their leader, Bandit Keith. That's me. In America." Oh god, why?! He had to shut this guy up and fast. The Knife Bandit was the first to charge in for a slash toward his neck but a successful block left the bandit reeling backwards. Shortly afterward, the Spear Bandit charged in while attempting to use his superior range for leverage in a thrust. Though this was done in vain as his first attack was abruptly stopped by the shield as well. Knife Bandit had taken the boy's back by now and was swiftly upon him with his mid-sized straight sword. The boy pushed the spear away before turning to kick the leader in the gut. It didn't deal any damage but it was still satisfying to watch a man keel over during an attack from a kick to the gut. Drawing his knife, Seul executed his Round Accel sword art to start his things off. His glowing, yellow dagger sent out two, small tempests to bombard the bandit gang from different angles and effectively knock off one seventh of each of their health bars in the process. |~BATTLE START~|~Battle Theme~| Turn Sequence: Bandit Gang → Seul Party Status Seul [HP: 56/56][Energy: 10/14][Keen Active: +1 BD] Monster Party Status: Knife Bandit [HP: 60/70][DMG: 20] Spear Bandit [HP: 60/70][DMG: 20] Bandit Keith [HP: 60/70][DMG: 20] Battle Commands: Bandit Gang attacks Seul! ↳ Blocked! Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) The bandit gang's next assault was just ineffective as their last. Knife Bandit did manage to get a hit in while Seul had his back turned and subsequently allowed Spear Bandit to land a stab as well. When he tried to face his aggressors Bandit Keith was able to tear open his back with his sword, leaving behind a giant red gash. This was getting ridiculous. Once their assault was over the green glow of regeneration encased him and he was able to unleash his fury. He fired off another Round Accel Attack which soon found its marks, causing all the members of the gang to stumble away from attack proximity. Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) Each bandit was furious now seeing as how this lone fighter managed to knock them all down to half health in a matter of two turns while the three of them struggled to even scratch him. Each of their predictable movements ended with blocks from Seul's shield but he wasn't actually able to retaliate thanks to the distance each gang member created while attacking as a precaution. Seul 1 Posted November 11, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) Knife Bandit actually tripped as he charged in for the next strike. A funny but oh so fatal mistake. It was time too start fighting each bandit one on one and this guy seemed like the perfect opportunity. The other two bandits had attacked but after blocking and kicking them away Seul was able to put his plan into motion. The Fad Edge sword art was much stronger than anything else in his arsenal so it was his go to attack for single enemies. A hasty flurry of two strikes to the chest and two to the bandit's arms left the man in a state of panic as he did not expect to be singled out. Seul 1 Posted November 13, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) The other bandits took full advantage of his inability to fight them all at once by ganging up on him as soon as his back was turned. Knife bandit also took his fair amount of swings whenever he tried to address the others. There was nothing he could do in such a state. The way of the dagger was meant for one on one scenarios. Having these bandits work together to fight him was a pain, but at least his health came back after each hit and the damage each one did was hilariously low. Seul 1 Posted November 13, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Each bandit had continued their individual assault but Seul was becoming fed up with their attacks. This time around he raised his shield to intercept the three bandit's strikes. The damage was nullified, so it was his tur to inflict some pain. Knife Bandit was the closest to death, but he wanted them all to die in the end. The Round Accel sword art was what he needed now. Each bandit suffered a good amount of damage at the mercy of the tempests the move created. It was only a matter of time now until the fight would end. Seul 1 Posted November 13, 2015 Author #18 Share Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) They were desperate now. The bandits all took turns cutting him open with their respective weapons but Seul only stood their as this was becoming sad to watch. In the corner of his vision he could see his health and energy restore after each assault and when it was back up he launched his Round Accel attack once more. Seul 1 Posted November 13, 2015 Author #19 Share Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Somehow neither side managed to land a hit on the other. The three bandits took their stabs at Seul but he blocked every single one. When it came time for him to attack they all managed to evade the harsh winds of his sword art. It would seem that they weren't quite ready to die yet. But neither was he. The next round he was killing somebody or there'd be a lot of table flipping going on later that day.
