Curls bounce as the owner of the pink locks hikes up a hill. She knows where she’s going, albeit the fact that she’s never been near this part of Floor 1 before. The sharp mind had memorized the map as well as her destination simply by scanning over it once. However, she wasn’t here to engage in dangerous combat - instead the young woman had decided to start her path to becoming a front-liner as of today. First step: Complete the <<Earning a Living>> quest and become a Tailor.

The profession had been chosen because it reminded Audacity of her mother. She was always knitting or sewing clothes for her children with nimble, skilled fingers despite the fact that buying attire would be much, much easier. The older woman insisted that since one of her children required her as a seamstress - due to being severely allergic to certain fabrics and such - than all of the kin would wear what she made as well. But, no matter how much her children protested, no one in the family could deny that their mother was a master seamstress; a Goddess with a sewing machine or cloth and needles.

Rig was a first choice of location but then Audacity quickly changed her mind and found she desired Nimbus - the main settlement of Floor 7 - much more. This is where she’d set up her shop once the Floor 1 quest was completed. The quest giver happened to be the owner of an extremely popular Tailor shop despite being an NPC; it seemed that most - when visiting Floor 1 - decided to visit the mystery NPC instead of other shops because of the high rating and satisfaction from other customers. Not that Audacity was surprised in the least, she expected nothing else from a computer-generated program. But she’d be better than that in her profession. Or at least this idea of self-success had been planted into her mind and stubbornness got in the way of her realistic thinking style.

Her confidence hadn’t faltered even when arriving in front of the overly-sized shop. Numerous players were arriving and leaving all at once so entering in one piece had been quite hectic. Once inside, Audacity searched for the quest-marking symbol above the head of the owner which she’d ensured would pop up as she’d selected the NPC’s location on her map before setting out to find them. Luckily the early evening had most players heading for their inn or out elsewhere which meant the inside wasn’t as crowded as her mind had conjured up it’d be.

The NPC stood behind a counter, holding his head as high as Audacity; in a snobby way, not the kind she did which was clearly in an intelligent, proper mannerism. With a wrinkle of the nose she approaches the strange man and rings the bell at the front counter. Her pink eyes take in his appearance and surely he’s a fashionable person: dressed in colors that perfectly accented his eyes and skin-tone as well as attire you’d call formal for such an ordinary day. She could tell within a second that this man meant business but also had a unique spunky personality. No wonder his shop had been such a success from the beginning.

“Can I help you Miss?” He turned and presented a gorgeous face - but more in a pretty way rather than handsome. His tone was sing-songy but straight-forward; no cracking or wavering much to her liking.

“Quite.” Audacity replied straightforwardly with a stern nod of her head. “I’d appreciate it if you’d present me with the Earning a Living quest, and assist with my becoming of a Tailor.” Certain words triggered the NPC’s coded reaction and immediately as he spoke a projected screen popped up in front of Audacity.

“How would you like to become a Tailor?” He spoke nothing like a robot, much differently than an NPC she’d encountered at a food stand only days ago.

A finger lifted to press a bright blue icon with a white circle embedded in it; this action would officially begin her quest. Now all she needed was the information from the NPC before her whose quest-marker had changed colors to indicate it had yet to be completed by her. The young woman felt a twinge of excitement build in the pit of her stomach that sensitive senses picked up instantly. Usually her emotions were stable and constant but now she couldn’t help but feel giddy for all the new things and tricks her Eidetic memory would pick up and store in the mind forever. Learning - no matter what about - had always been Audacity’s favorite activity. After all, she was an expert at it.

“Perfect.” He spoke after a short moment of still standing and silence. “My name is Tony. If you go out and collect 10 materials - cloth, leather, thread, all that and whatever you get the gist - for me I’ll use those to teach you how the basics of crafting. The rest is up to you to learn yourself, I ain’t yo’ permanent mentor.” The NPC cracked a sideways smile and held a sassy tone which caused Audacity to widen her eyes in surprise of the sudden change in him. She should’ve known he held surprises. With a wave she turned on a heel and paced out of the shop in long strides.

The sooner the job got done, the better; already she was calculating material collecting and spots to head to that would prove sufficient numbers of her designated items. Even in a haste she managed to think out a tact plan beforehand - she’d always been good at planning and organization methods. Audacity noted how much easier it was to walk down the hill than up the nearly mountainous terrain, however this was the only route that lead to the specific fields where she needed to go. These fields being the ones’, she’d heard from another player whilst eavesdropping, that hold the most materials among Floor 1.

Grass crunches underneath heavy, neatly-laced boots as a young woman ventures into fields full of treasures and hidden underground mines. Her pink eyes scan the surroundings and are fully devoted to finding the needed materials to complete the selected quest. Any player could see for miles from where her curvaceous figure stood as the ground now shifted into plains as flat as pancakes. She pauses - if only for a second - to take in sights, objects, players, and animals using sensitive, adept senses.

These fields were used for material searching and collecting: any newbie and experienced player knew that by now. But she wanted... no, she needed to be prepared for anything that might harm her or take her by surprise. Worrisome thoughts corrupted her mind and ultimate focus. Could you perish by something as simple as a heart attack here? Was that even possible now that she was trapped within a virtual world controlled by coding and the minds of everyone suffering a similar fate. Rubbing the temples of her head Audacity took deep, soothing breaths to calm her rapidly beating heart that nearly matched the pace that her thoughts and memories sped by at.

"Don't be so incredibly foolish and intimidated, Tessa." She muttered as all five senses regained stability as well as her pacing organs that returned to normal in the mean time. "You're a Rose." A tear is swept away from the owner's soft cheek as quickly as it forms; the young woman couldn't help that her emotions ran in uncontrollable ways when nostalgia hit. Her personality: calm and controlled though when she repeated the words of her mother that seemed to disappear. Nobody would ever see her this way. Hell, Audacity didn't even want anybody to.

It took her a few minutes of self-loathing and self-criticism to continue the long search for those 10 special materials. She wasn't herself then - maybe she wasn't even herself now, but at least her personality and emotions were back to the way she was used to having them. Bending over to pick up mystery objects that had a shine to them had become tiresome. A bug, an iron ore, a special dust that she assumed would be used by an Alchemist: all the materials scattered about weren't for a Tailor. And what would she do with materials that weren't for herself? Certainly she had no desire to set up a shop only to sell half the materials in her inventory because they wouldn't work with her profession. The young woman set out to continue her quest.

She felt as if she'd been robbed of time. Not that her daily activities consisted of anything as tedious or important but she now realized just how long the search could take. At first her mind had calculated approximately half an hour to and hour at most but the twenty minute mark had already been passed. Did the quest-giver even think about how she'd rather spend the day? Probably not - she quickly concluded with a mental smack of the forehead - since Tony was only an NPC.

Being a patient person truly payed off during moments like so. If she wasn't one, Audacity felt most certain that she wouldn't have been able to carry on after so many failures in a row. As of now she'd rather not reminiscence if that were possible to avoid - the action only brought about negative thoughts and memories instead of positive like it was associated with doing. If only she weren't trapped with the threat of death constantly looming and hiding behind every corner; then maybe her situation would be different, she could dwell within her head knowing only good resided there.

Success began with a small thread. A young woman bends over for about the millionth time during her material search and finds an item worthy of Tailor crafting usage. Pink eyes lighten up in relief and slight excitement. She instantly marked down a tally mark inside of her head: nine more to go. Propping both hands on her hips she lifts her head to catch the sun's place in the sky. The sun was at its highest peak as well as extremely bright indicating noonish or maybe a little later than that. Plenty of time rested in her hands though she didn't feel any different about the situation.

Often, during the afternoon, her days would be spent with her nose in a book. Whether it be for class or not that didn't really matter to Tessa. Her roommate Lucy would often pester her with guests that spent their time calling Tessa "cute", forcing makeup onto the young woman, or shoving invites to parties and hang-outs in her direction. She'd rarely join, of course; but when Tessa did give in to the temptation the activities were rather enjoyable - or more so stress relievers and amusing to behold on her part.

Fingers graze over a green cloth before stashing it into the inventory: Lucy's favorite color. The friends that Lucy had were much, much different than her own which was why it'd been amusing for her to watch them enjoy having a fun time together. Tessa's friends were able to keep up with her IQ and quick-spoken rants on various topics. They could cheer her up with a quote or favorite smoothie and always said accurate thing. If she could show someone her friends, it'd be obvious her future was full of bright opportunities. She knew what a true friend was and that's what she identified those 3 as; they the same. But time takes toll on relationships, and Tessa - now Audacity - felt like those people she'd grown close to during college would slip away as she returned to reality. The same happened after High School ended, after all.

Lucy's friends' truly baffled her on the other hand. Preppy, easily-impressed, spontaneous, quirky... There were more to be named but that about summed up the basics of their personalities. They seemed to have endless money and could pay for each other if someone forgot their wallet or simply didn't have enough to pay for themselves. Sweet, supportive, yet hardly could be considered "besties" as they called their friendships. One close look would allow anyone attentive enough to see that those young women always in a group were simply there. Just there. No bonding or love and hardly any mutual interest at all. How did Lucy move on everyday with such a feeling? Perhaps she was oblivious or chose to be ignorant. She wouldn't know. She wouldn't dare ask.

During childhood her hobbies and day-to-day activities were nearly the same. Except she had close siblings to pass the time with. It was natural for her to have no friends except for the ones' that shared her blood as a young girl, but once Middle School hit that was when all of her beloved mates split ways. Of course she found others' to keep her company; meanwhile Tessa seemed to be the only one that couldn't cope with the fact that their closeness had come to a halt. Her father would explain that life never threw obstacles a human couldn't leap over. Her mother would pat her on the head and explain that she should socialize more but confront her siblings if absolutely necessary. The problem? It wasn't necessary at all. Tessa knew she was being selfish, kept to herself, and continued on with life since that happened to be the only thing she could do.
